Kelly Shore article[edit]

Hi, this is the real Kelly Shore can you please delete this wikipedia? It is causing issues in my personal life. It's the reason I changed my name. I do not want anything to do with the Kelly Shore name at this time.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Misskellyshore (talkcontribs)

What I think you mean is that you want the Kelly Shore article deleted. Well, that might be difficult since the article has many references establishing Shore's notability. You're always welcome to start an articles for deletion discussion and see if the greater community agrees that Shore is not worthy of an article. I can't simply delete an article. First, I don't have enough power to and secondly, it's not up to the whims of just one person to delete well referenced articles. It would be madness around here if individual editors could simply delete articles just on a whim.
If, by chance, you actually are Shore or one of her representatives, then you might want to have a look at WP:AUTO#Problems in an article about you which describes who you can contact if there are any legal problems with the article about Shore.
Personally, I'm not sympathetic to people who come to Wikipedia because they want to re-write history as if some period of their life never happened. Adults make decisions and they have the responsibility of living up to those decisions. So if you intend to pursue this further, you might want to contact someone else who is more sympathetic. Rachel Tzvia Back's entry[edit]

Hello,

Thanks for the change in the article of Rachel Tzvia Back. I see now that I should not have stated the names of her family members, but I was wondering whether I can say that she is married and has three children? I mean, if I use a source to rely on, is it ok? If yes, what do I do in case I have already used the source erlier in the article, do I use it again or find another one? thanks. Meitalklachuk (talk) 08:22, 15 September 2012 (UTC)meitalklachukMeitalklachuk (talk) 08:22, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to include a link to the article here just because it's a nice thing to do. Rachel Tzvia Back. This way, if either one of us needs to refer to the article, it's only a click away. No need to search for the article.
Okay, now that that's done, you can definitely use the same reference more than once! It's easy to do. This is covered at Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners but I'll cover the main points here. The first time you use a reference, it will look something like this:
The Earth is round.<ref name=SomeName>Reference info goes here</ref>
Then when you want to use it again:
It is mostly covered by water.<ref name=SomeName />
You basically just re-use the first part of the reference tag again but put in the ending / character.
And you can definitely say that she is married with three children, if you have a reference. We often tend to leave out children's names for the sake of the privacy of the child. The names of the children of very well known celebrities are often included, for example Angelina Jolie or Gwyneth Paltrow because the kids names are already mentioned in so many news stories about them. But someone who is not quite so famous, like Back, usually has the names left out.
I hope this helps, Dismas|(talk) 12:14, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the detailed response! I'll try and do that. Also, perhaps you could answer me another query please: someone else edited the reference list and added the retrieved date. I understood why he added the retrieved date, but couldn't figure out if he used a specific templete when restating the title of the reference. The reason I'm asking is because several names there should be italicized according to what I know in the MLA rules of citation. So, I tried to find out if there were specific guidelines that led him to edit it in quotation marks or just regularly. I tried to ask him about it and didn't get an answer. If you can lead me to the guidelines or help in any way, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks. 217.132.158.148 (talk) 15:06, 17 September 2012 (UTC)meitalklachuk217.132.158.148 (talk) 15:06, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Are you talking about this edit? If that's what you mean, the editor added the {{cite web}} template to the existing URLs. A quick and minimalistic version will look something like this <ref name=foobar>{{cite web|url=http://www.google.com|title=Google|accessdate=18Sep2012}}</ref> There are more parameters that can go in the template but that's pretty much the bare minimum. Crissy Moran's Page[edit]

I have edited Crissy Moran's page a couple of times to include what she is currently doing with her life and it appears that your user name is editing the article back to what it was before my changes. Why is this happening? All of the changes are completely legitimate.

Thank you Sirpoins (talk) 13:06, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'll reply more in depth later since I'm heading to bed right now. But for now, take a look at the article history and see if my most recent edit summary helps. And if you have a personal or professional relationship with her, perhaps you should read WP:COI. Dismas|(talk) 13:31, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I do not have a personal relationship with this person. I guess I don't know how to site someone saying something on their Facebook site, but the "promotional tone" doesn't make much sense. That's like saying that green day has a new album and by mentioning it you're thus promoting it. Realistically, I'm not sure why you feel the need to follow her page and edit everything people write (because others have tried too), but it's certainly not worth the headache for me. Hi Dismas

Dreya had asked me to add her real birth place and also remove that she is married to Ned Far and add the image that I uploaded the other day but all these changes seem to keep getting put back, as you seem to be much better at all this that I, Please can add that Dreya born in Midland Michigan. Please also remove that she is married to Ned Farr.

Cheers

Lucy4440 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lucy4440 (talkcontribs) 17:13, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lucy, there are a couple things going on here. First, the marriage. We have a source saying that she was married to Farr as of June. I was reverting your changes because the info is reliably sourced. Normally we don't remove info that is reliable sourced. And we can't just take your word for it that they're divorced. We'd need a source for that as well. After all, we (Wikipedia editors, the world in general, etc) don't know who you are or if you're telling the truth. You're just Lucy4440 to everyone.
That said... I've removed the info anyway. Farr doesn't appear to be notable in his own right, so mentioning his name has little significance to the article. And without a name, just mentioning that she was married at some point in the past seems trivial. Most people are married at one point or another so why bother mentioning it.
As for the home town, without a reliable source for that biographical info, I've removed it. As well as the birth name and birth date. Neither of those were sourced either. If you'd like more info on that you can see WP:BLP.
As for the image... The photo looks to be a publicity photo. So, there is the possibility that the rights to that photo are still owned by the photographer that took it. This is often the case. And if so, Weber has no right to release it to the public domain. And again, we have no idea what your connection is to Weber because, like I said, you're just Lucy4440. It is possible that when Weber commissioned the photo that she bought the rights to it as well but this is not usually the case. Either way, the best way to verify the rights and make sure that it's okay to have on the Wikimedia servers is to follow the instructions at Commons:Commons:Contact us which says to email permissions-commons@wikimedia.org and explain that you have the right to release the photo to the public domain. They will be able to prove that you are who you say you are and that Weber has given you permission to upload the file. Dismas|(talk) 01:52, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Crissy Moran 2012 Picture[edit]

I uploaded a photo of Crissy Moran that was taken down. She is a personal friend of mine and has been for some time. She gave me the picture through an e-mail to post since that picture reflects who she is now rather than the pre-porn days. If you need me to submit the e-mail I will, but not post. I can submit to a specific addy if needed. But the picture was selected by her personally and given to me personally by her for the specific purposes of changing on her page here. Please tell me what I need to do to get it changed permanently here to the one I uploaded.

Thanks, and regards...Elollar (talk) 06:59, 22 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A response to the picture has been put on the picture itself (Crissy_Moran_2012.jpg) below your comment about the authorization. I am posting it here also, so please let me know what I need to do to fix this.

        • From the comment on the photo

This photo was submitted to me directly by Crissy Moran on October 30, 2012 when I contacted her to please provide me a current photograph to replace the one on this site. Ms. Moran feels that this picture does not accurately portray her as it is a picture from her pornographic days that she has since abandoned in 2006. She feels that this photograph depicts her in a negative light, given the ministry work that she is currently involved with. A copy of the e-mail may be submitted privately to your personal mailbox, but not to be posted here since it also contains additional private information that is not for the public release. I will be happy to provide it to you if you will provide me an e-mail address to do it. However, I have been authorized by Ms. Moran to upload this picture, as it was personally selected by her and submitted to me with her full authorization to use it solely for this website.

Elollar (talk) 04:25, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

First, I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving (guessing you're American). I did and that's why I haven't replied in the last couple days. I was away.
Second, Moran has sent people here to change things before and it really would be easier if she contacted an experienced editor to make the changes that she feels need be done. If someone had contacted me with the image, I would have happily changed it out once the proper steps had been taken. It would save everyone a lot of time and maybe a headache or two. Could you pass on that message? It would ease her frustration as well as that of everyone else involved in this article.
Third, much like making claims about a person, we need some verification of those claims and we therefore need confirmation that Moran has released the rights to the image in question. In other words, we can't just take your word for it. We don't know who you are, how you officially represent her, etc. You are simply some person going by the user name "Elollar". Back to the point, she can provide that permission by following the steps at Commons:OTRS.
Questions, let me know. Now that it's not a holiday, I should be able to reply a bit more expeditiously. Dismas|(talk) 21:35, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dismas,

Thanks for the well wishes on the holidays. Mine were enjoyable and I also hope yours was good too.

I completely understand the positions on why you have to go through the steps on the photos. I know that there are a lot of people who try to take advantage of situations or who violate the rules of engagement. There is no such thing as a perfect solution, so I appreciate your helping me on this. I will be happy to send you a copy of the message. It actually came from Facebook, so it is easy to send you a copy of the entire thread that took place a couple of weeks ago. If you will tell me how to contact you outside of this...not sure how the best way to do that to make sure that the private stuff stays that way, but you will probably know better than me here. I just cannot post the e-mail as a public domain thing, but I don't mind sending you a copy for verification.

As to Crissy...I know that she doesn't know how to do the edits here. I am not sure why she doesn't contact directly. Maybe she has in the past and had little or no success or a bad experience. I have left messages before and had them lost without a reply so maybe that's the case with hers as well. Plus I know that there are many people posing as her on places like Yahoo and Skype so maybe it's just a matter of how do you verify it. I can send you the copy to the e-mail privately. If that doesn't work well enough for you, let me know. I have another idea, but I don't want to post it here in case someone else may try to mimic it.

I wish you well. Thank you again for your help. I am still a newbie on the rules on editing here, but I am trying to learn. Talk with you soon.

Elollar (talk) 06:41, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the trust that you're offering me but I am not on the OTRS team/board/whatever. OTRS is a group of people who are willing to correspond with notable people about releasing rights to their photos, among other things. OTRS the ability to verify that they are who they say they are. From a brief skim of Commons:OTRS, it looks like you can just email permissions-commons@wikimedia.org and get the ball rolling. Note: Although I'm familiar with what OTRS does and I've looked over the page before, I've never actually had to contact them.
If you need/want to contact someone via email, you can click on the "Email this user" link on the left side of the page under the heading "Toolbox". If they have their email address set up in their preferences, that is. That would be more private than using talk pages such as this one you're reading now. But like I said, OTRS is who you need to contact for permissions on the image. Dismas|(talk) 07:03, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Playboy Magazine reversion[edit]

Hi,

How come you removed my edit of the Playboy Magazine article? All I did was to cross-reference to another Wikipedia article (Playboy Automobile Company). Why is it acceptable for that article to explain the origin of the magazine's name and NOT to have it in the magazine article itself? This seems nonsensical.

If the problem is a lack of documentation, shouldn't the reference in the PAC article be removed as well?

Frankly, I'm not sure there IS a published explanation of the origin of the name. I can state for a fact that my father is Eldon Sellers and Hef has written in numerous places that dad was the origin of the name (although there is at least one extant reference where Hef, inexplicably, denies this!) But if a published reference is required regarding my grandmother is required, does that mean the information is forever lost? Mimi is dead, and Eldon, my father, is 91. It seems like such an iconic piece of information, that was speculated on for years before the advent of Wikipedia, should somehow be in the public domain. Is first-hand knowledge really considered "research"??

P.S. I'm not an expert on wiki stuff. If you reply, could you please copy rorywikipedia@thesellersplace.com. Thanks.

Rory Sellers — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roricka (talkcontribs) 07:45, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for inquiring before just trying to add the information back in and getting into an edit war over it. As you point out, it's unreferenced in the PAC article as well and I have therefore removed it from there.
As far as referencing and sources goes, yes, everything here that is questionable should have a verifiable and reliable source. Someone who is reading the article should be able to go to a website/library/etc and find exactly where you got the information. You can see the relevant policies at WP:V and WP:RS. But essentially, Wikipedia can't just take your word for it and your personal knowledge is considered "original research". It's similar to a reporter going to someone to conduct an interview. They're doing research. You talking to your relatives around the dinner table, while not for a job or anything like that, is still a type of research into your family.
So yes, unfortunately, the source for the Playboy name may be lost to history unless Hef or your family get the real/correct/etc information published somewhere reliable so that it can be verified by other people.
As far as your request goes, I will be using Wikipedia's email feature. So if you have that address set as your default address, then you will be receiving an email from me via Wikipedia. Normally, I'd just post a message on your talk page to inform you that there was a reply waiting for you here. And I'll do that as well. Dismas|(talk) 10:16, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with Penthouse article[edit]

Hello Dismas,

i added a link to article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penthouse_(magazine), and it was a link to penthouse.com, their official website, but you and Malik Shabazz are removing it. I really don't see the problem with this, it's really not a vandalism, it's just link to their website. Please explain this to me and do not remove it in the future, if it's possible.

Thanks for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.205.169.17 (talk) 09:56, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

First, we only need one link to an official site. Second, all the extra stuff tagged on to the end of the URL doesn't need to be there. I saw a mention of avoiding popups. That's up to the reader. We aren't here to safe guard them from popups. And if that's the way the company wants their site to operate (at the bare URL) then who are we to infringe on that? how to change headline[edit]

i asked about an artile that referred to the 2012 bermuda general election results. you asked a few questions.

yes, it is a wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bermudan_general_election,_2012

yes, i am referring to the big bold letters at the top; what i called the headline . note the url also has the incorrect spelling.

i was born in bermuda. i was press secretary to the premier of bermuda from 2009 to 2010 Aminorsbda (talk) 13:49, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

change a headline[edit]

i'm sorry if you are getting this twice. i'm new at this and having some difficulty with navigating the prelevant pages.

i sent a message about the spelling of the adjectival form of bermuda in a wikipedia article. the article is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bermudan_general_election,_2012. the headline of the article is: Bermudan general election, 2012. i copied and pasted this from the article.

the correct adjectival form for bermuda is bermudian; not bermudan. the correct form is shown throughout the article.

one wikipedia editor, with a japanese name, suggested that bermudan is widely used in english, although the inhabitants of bermuda may prefer bermudian. i looked at the wikipedia naming policy for places. that person's reasoning does not seem to support wikipedia's naming policy.

is it possible for you to rename the article? the change does not seem to me to be controversial. i would change it myself but i did not find it easy to do so.

i am bermudian. while that alone does not make me an authority, i was press secretary to the premier of bermuda from 2009 to 2010.

i have pointed out a similar error to the editors of the concise oxford dictionary and they promised to correct it in their next edition. i also note that in the wikipedia article on bermuda (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bermuda), inhabitants of bermuda are consistently described as bermudians.

Aminorsbda (talk) 15:06, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It is possible for me to move the page that you pointed out but I won't. Not out of spite or any malicious intent but because there are actually many pages that use the word "Bermudan" and I'm unwilling to make such a sweeping change without discussing it with other editors first. After a consensus has been reached, the pages may or may not be moved. I see that a discussion has been started and I will let it run its natural course.
Personally, I don't have any opinion as to which term should be used. You asked a question at the Help Desk and I answered it to the best of my knowledge/ability. I was trying to help you but I don't have the time to get into a lengthy discussion or debate about the issue. Dismas|(talk) 01:20, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A question about a revert you made[edit]

I'm doing some statistical analysis related to the use of the Twinkle revert tools. I ran across this revert that you recently made. While the edit certainly needed to be undone for several reasons (BLP, sourcing, grammar, etc) I don't see where this actual edit met any of the items described in WP:VANDTYPES. The only reason I'm asking you, is because you've been around here a lot longer than I have and it is quite possible that I'm incorrect. If I am, I'd like to understand why before I continue my work. I guess I'd call the first silly vandalism - obvious nonsense (not in the source I could see nor with a quick search). It's a bit odd that none of the types of vandalism list anything that explicitly mentions our BLP policy. The second is sneaky vandalism, removing a full stop. In both cases you could say ideally I would have left an edit summary - as you can see, I usually do, but there are times when life is too short. Dougweller (talk) 21:46, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. These types of edits by more experienced editors were far and in between. You aren't the only admin that I pegged as a bit quick on the V draw for an edit or two. (ec)The removal of the full stop is indeed vandalism according to Wikipedia:Vandalism#Blanking, illegitimate. The other could qualify according to Wikipedia:Vandalism#Silly vandalism. --Saddhiyama (talk) 21:51, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
My vandal revert was for a couple reasons. The grammar was awful. There isn't any other mention of Alaska in the article. And it seems to be attempting to be defamatory. I could have gone with AGF, I suppose, but I've so very very rarely ever seen any IP reply to a warning that I just use the vandalism link in Twinkle due to the fact that I don't have to bother typing out a rather obvious edit summary. Dismas|(talk) 03:28, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Little green rosetta, are you saying that these reverts I made weren't for vandalism? Dougweller (talk) 06:02, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The one I listed above for the Williams article doesn't look like vandalism. I really don't have a beef with either of you. I promise I'm asking a good faith question. Im only asking you two because I assumed you would take no offense. I apologize if you have. The reason is I was analyzing twinkle reverts because it was my suspicion that the revert vandalism TW tool is a bit bitey in its application.   little green rosetta(talk)

Wikipedia: Name Ian - adding another "Ian" to your list of notable Ians.[edit]

Hi Dismas

Not trying to start a discussion here - just apologizing. The Ian I added had put a link to your page and I "inserted" him quickly to make him smile - it was a silly thing to do in some ways but he really is quite a public person (he is a cartoonist and illustrator) and did the first google doodle.

In future I will not let personal "spontaneousnesses" be the guide when adding to official pages.

Best wishes

Editor of the Week[edit]

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week, for a decade of terrific editing with little recognition. Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

User:Go Phightins! submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I nominate Dismas (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) as Editor of the Week for over a decade of block-free work primarily on content (over 70% of 65000 total contributions). He has created more articles than I care to count (listed on his user page) and has the autopatrolled, file mover, and reviewer rights. He has been around for 10 years and 2 months, yet has received only 6 barnstars during that time. Editor of the Week was founded to recognize under-appreciated content contributors, and Dismas certainly meets that description. --Go Phightins!

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:

  • That is a lot of edits over a long time, dealing with BLPs in areas that often get drama. The work you do keeping the articles sourced, politely informing others of problematic edits, as well as protecting against vandalism is very much appreciated. Looking around at your edits, things like Talk:Scarlett Johansson stick out, where you handled the situation well and kept it from turning into drama. You treated the IP respectfully, even while they were entirely unreasonable. Efforts like that seem common for you, and they are truly appreciated. Dismas... Re your comments at the thread about wearing backless dresses at the Vatican (posted at the Humanities Ref Desk)... The article Roberta Pedon has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Update on Joanna jet wikipedia page[edit]

Hello,

I made some updates to my wikipedia page and also updated a photo today (3 June 2013) and have seen that they have once again been deleted. As I have no idea how I am supposed to prove to either Wikipedia or you, the individual who apparently has editorial control over my own biography, that I am indeed Joanna Jet, I will be taking the following steps.

1) I will cease to use the account "joannajet" and create a new account under the username "Joanna Jet" as this appears to then link my credentials to my presence on Wikipedia. I will then remove my company's copyright mark from the photo and resubmit it.

If this is not the correct approach then please let me know so that I may finally have an opinion on the validity of my own biography.

With regards,

Joanna Jet — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joannajet (talkcontribs) 16:13, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Hi Joanna - this sounds like this is you - one way to make it really indisputable is (a) on your userpage, add something like "I am Joanna Jet, actress, model and director" - and then (b) on your official website somewhere, you could just publish a note saying "I've started to edit wikipedia using the username Joannajet." Secondly, I noted that you added some material, which if you're you, you obviously know to be true, but we can't have that material in the bios, even if it comes from the source - we need to have reliable sources to back it up. So if there are newspaper articles/etc that discuss you and your work, those could be used. You can provide such sources on the talk page and then editors there can help integrate them into the article. So, there is no need to rename your account, for example. --Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 16:19, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have now added "I am Joanna Jet, actress, model and director" to userpage and if you check the very bottom of http://www.joannajet.com/home.php, you will find the statement you require (I trust I can then remove it?). Furthermore, I have re-uploaded the picture without watermarks or copyright statements. As for obtaining confirmation of my statements, I will see what I can do.

Finally, please remove the link to Shemale Model Index as this site does not contain any accurate information about me and exists solely for the purpose of creating affiliate sales.

With regards,

Joanna xxx Joannajet (talk) 16:47, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Revert of Nica Noelle and Sweetheart Video[edit]

Hello Dimas, you reverted my entries to the Awards and Nominations Section of both the articles Nica Noelle and Sweetheart Video. First of all, thanks for helping keeping Wikipedia a reference of encyclopedic content. Since you reverted the entries due to the argument that the Erotic Lounge Award is non-notable award. Please a me a few words to this award to convince you of the contrary. First: The Erotic Lounge Award is a European completely open fan based award. While other European Porn-Awards (i.e. Venus Award) have been greatly disputed about and lost some amount of reputation, because virtually anyone in the business could "buy" the award (there have been numerous articles in the media and even winners of the award have stated this) the Erotic Lounge Award is a truly independent award voted solemnly by fans. Secondly: The Award is sponsored by one of the greatest VOD-sites in Europe backed by one of the greatest Telecommunications Companies in the world. Thirdly: the European Porn-market is one of the most interesting to the porn industry. Even the largest studios are aggressively entering the market, making European fans very interesting to all industry professionals. I would very much appreciate a respectable and serious discussion on the pros and cons. One last word: the Erotic Lounge award is not non-notable, just because is has only been presented two times. It's reputation has made it so meaningsome that even the largest media publications in Germany report about the winners in mainstream channels. Thank you for your time to read my arguments. Please let me know about your thoughts. Respectfully, Jaylo77 (talk) 13:58, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jaylo, first of all, thank you for not just reverting my revert and getting into an argument over this. I'd rather discuss things calmly.
Secondly, those of us who watch and edit the pornography related articles here have come to an understanding that not every award will be listed. Only those with articles will be listed. So something like a fan page that creates an award just for the sake of publicity won't be listed. But industry awards do get listed. How do we tell the difference? If the award is notable enough, it would have its own article. No article for the award? Then it's not listed. So if you can create an article for the Erotic Lounge Awards, which it sounds like you may be able to do if you have enough reliable sources to establish its notability, then please create that article first. Then you have a more solid case for its inclusion on actor biographies. Dismas|(talk) 14:20, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Dimas, thanks for your response. I understand the case. I have started an article in the German wiki version, but haven't been quick enough to collect sufficient and edit sufficient information, which i am working on, though. I'll see to it, that i first finish the article. In the German version I was able to insert the same information with actor biographies without any discussion, but that is probably due to the familiarity of the award in Europe. Nica Noelle doesn't have an entry in the German wiki which is the reason for me entering the en version. I'll work on the necessary background article and come back in due time. I have one more question, though. Is it necessary to have an extra entry for the award in en.wiki.org or is the German wiki.org sufficient? Regards, Jaylo77 (talk) 17:57, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Gladiator (subtitled).png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Gladiator (subtitled).png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:35, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
as you see I recently edited the page making a reference to the IMDb profile, as I thought it was a good source. This birthdate is also reported in many webpages, and this made me thought that the information was reliable.
The reference of her movies also redirects to the IAFD database, so why you assumed the birthday date was my good faith but you ingnored the movies? I try to improve everyday the wiki sources, please explain me what i did wrong so I will not be edited soon ;)

Best regards,
Coolzoie (talk) 10:13, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I put my reason for the revert in my edit summary. You'll see that there is a link to WP:RS/IMDB. While IMDB is generally reliable for the average person looking up what an actor has been in, it's not reliable enough for biographies here at Wikipedia. And just because a birth date is also used on other sites, that still doesn't make it any more true. That's why we need a verifiable and reliable source. Miss Bono[edit]

Hello, I see that you suggested a U2 mailing list to Miss Bono. I am her mentor and am very familiar with her access problems. She lives in Cuba, which has severe restrictions on internet access. She can access Wikipedia through an intranet at work, but has no access to Google, Wikimedia Commons or most of the internet. They are blocked to her and most Cubans. She can send outgoing email through Wikipedia, but rarely has the opportunity to read incoming email. She has told me that she won't be able to read any email at least until September, so a mailing list is of little use to her. Please read our article Internet in Cuba to get an idea of the challenges she faces. This is the reason why she frequently asks other friendly Wikipedia editors to assist her with her online research. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 23:43, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
