Thanks for your article creations and good work! I've noticed it numerous times during my edits! Jackson Peebles (talk) 08:21, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
Mahalo for your appreciation. Like most editors, I am just trying to make some improvements... Peaceray (talk) 19:53, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

Media Matters

Hi Peaceray and thanks for your vigilance in spotting some unusual editing behavior. After looking at a few of the edits in question I have the feeling that it is a good faith effort to improve the article citations as he is not changing any text. I think what he/she is trying to do is remove links to news articles that are being hosted on Media Matters but originated from other news sources. On WP we try to avoid citing web "reprints" of articles because of potential copyright or accuracy problems. But I'm not sure as in some instances he has improved the cite but in others he has degraded the citation (though I don't think that was his/her motivation or intention). So I've put a note on Thagor's talk page and ask him/her to please clarify what they are doing and then I can give suggestions, coaching, feedback etc on that basis. --KeithbobTalk 22:04, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

Peaceray, in the future, feel free to ask me directly as to what's going on. I don't bite, I'm glad to explain anything. :) Thargor Orlando (talk) 22:33, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
I was trying to do a sanity check. All this started with changes to the Overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom of the Liliuokalani article after the removal of the Media Matters citation, which directly supported the text. the Media Matters article itself was well cited with seven citations. Please see Restoring MMfA citation in Liliuokalani: Overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom for further information. Peaceray (talk) 01:19, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
Not a problem at all, sincerely. I raised the question up at the article for further discussion. Thargor Orlando (talk)
There didn't seem to be much concern about it at ANI so I am going to let the matter drop. I think it can be discussed further on a case by case basis on the talk pages of each article. Thank you both for keeping things civil and forward moving. cheers!--KeithbobTalk 18:26, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Congrats... You asked an awesome question in the Teahouse!

Thanks for coming to the Teahouse to check in about potential POV pushing dealing with citations. It's great to keep a close eye on neutrality, but it's equally important not to jump to conclusions when dealing with others who might not share your views. By coming to the Teahouse you hopefully avoided a nasty battle and instead can just continue improving the encyclopedia. Thanks for doing that!

Template typo?

Peaceray, you posted what looks like a template on the topic ban ANI at 20:17, 24 February 2013 (UTC). Is "fell" at typo that you made, or is it a template error? (No reply expected.) Thanks. – S. Rich (talk) 22:13, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, but I am not sure to what you are referring. I previewed the Template:Notice, then viewed it afterwards. It looked OK. After reading your message, I viewed it on Windows in IE9, Firefox 19, & Chrome, & on Mac with Firefox 19 & Safari. It rendered appropriately in all those iterations. What exactly did you see? Peaceray (talk) 08:10, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
A subtle error. It reads: "There is an ongoing discussion regarding Thargor Orlando & removal of sources (Media Matters for America) at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive786#Thargor Orlando's wholesale removal of sources. Is it proper to link or merge the two discussions? Administrator(s) only, feel free to remove this notice when an association has been made, or please remove this if you administrators fell this is not appropriate to this discussion & notify me at my talk page. Mahalo! Peaceray (talk) 20:17, 24 February 2013 (UTC)" (It is now posted at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents/Tea Party movement; looking for community input.) Well, the clue you posted above sent me to {{notice}}. I see that you added the text and made the tpyo. As I was not familiar with the generic Template:Notice, I was thinking the language was some sort of special pre-loaded notice and needed correcting. I am sorry to send you on this wild goose chase. S. Rich (talk) 14:18, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 3

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Talk of the Nation, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Here and Now (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 21:26, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

I've given this nomination an "X". You are nominating one section rather than the whole article. So click above for my review. --George Ho (talk) 16:54, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Wait... Well, it's not eligible as a DYK. However, you can try promoting it in the WP:ITN. It helps promote old and new, but the hook MUST be related to very current (or recent) events. --George Ho (talk) 20:43, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Province of Nicarao's Water and Rich Coast

Hi Peaceray. I believe your instance that "y" is not an English word is a hyper correction. I realize that this is the English-langauge Wikipedia, but some proper names are not translated. For example "Honduras" means "the depths" (something which the early Spanish sailors noted), but no one calls the country that. The two provinces created by the Cortes (note, it's not "the Courts"—check the relevant published, academic literature) were 1. "Guatemala" and 2. "Nicaragua y Costa Rica." This was clear in the original wording. "Y" was not "and" in that case but rather the part of the proper name of the province, and hence it was untranslated. Conjunctions and prepositions in proper names of cities and provinces are usually not translated. (Note the full name of Coahuila.) Best, TriniMuñoz (talk) 20:39, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

As per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Text formatting, "Wikipedia prefers italics for phrases in other languages and for isolated foreign words that do not yet have everyday use in non-specialized English." It would have been clear to me that Nicaragua y Costa Rica was a Spanish name & not a failure to properly translate if it had been italicized. To avoid further confusion, I have italicized it as well as the corresponding province name of Guatemala (to keep both province names matching in font style).
Thanks for your dialogue & education of me on this matter. Here's to a better Wikipedia!
Peaceray (talk) 21:26, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
Hi, I'm aware of that rule, but that rule applies to words and phrases, not proper names. (Otherwise Wikipedia—or any MLA or Chicago style article—would look very different than they do now.) But, nevertheless, I do see your point, and I will leave as you edited! Happy editing! TriniMuñoz (talk) 06:31, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

The article Ofer Dekel (researcher) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No claim for notability, and Google offers no reason to believe he is notable

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Rockpocket 10:34, 10 September 2013 (UTC)

Ofer Dekel happens to be well cited

??? "No claim for notability, and Google offers no reason to believe he is notable" ???
I am not sure if you are looking in the right place. Please look at the following.
According to Google Scholar, the researcher Ofer Dekel has co-authored about 60 papers. On many of them, he was the lead author. The first three in the list had 621, 146, & 122 citations respectfully. As a researcher at Microsoft, Ofer Dekel may not be at an academic institution, which might account for his lower visibility on general Google searches, but he certainly does seem to be well known in the research community.

Hi

If you have a look at the top of this user talk page, you'll see a 'Welcome to WP' box. I found it somewhere else (where you had left it) and I copied & pasted it. (I switched your sig for mine after). Anyways, I wanted to ask if there is some template markup for this somewhere? Thanks. - theWOLFchild 15:45, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Nenermind... I was looking around and I stumbled upon it almost right away. Sorry to trouble you. Cheers - theWOLFchild 15:52, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
