WikiProject Good Articles's 2016 GA Cup - Round 1

Greetings, all.

The 3rd Annual GA Cup has officially begun, and you can start reviewing your articles/reassessments now! However, sign-ups will not close til March 15th if anybody (who wishes to sign up) has not signed up yet. We currently have 1 group of 33 contestants in Round 1, and we will have 16 Wikipedians left in Round 2. Please be sure to review this information and the FAQ if you haven't already,

I did give a reason for editing, you just didn't read it, wikipedia page Religion in Albania has a very ditailed explanation about religion in Albania and there is no need for you to brag about muslim and christian religions in Shkodra, most other city's on wikipedia in Albania including the capital Tirana has a link to the latest religion census. What are you trying to do is divide muslims and katholics of Shkodra that leave in harmony, so please leave religion alone or you will be the one that will be kiked out of wikipedia. Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.

Recent changes

  • Files on Wikimedia Commons can now be 2 GB big. The old limit was 1 GB. [1]
  • Welcome notifications now have a different symbol. English Wikipedia already had this one. [2]
  • The Wikimedia memory cache servers in the Eqiad cluster have now been upgraded to Debian 8 (Jessie). Some users might have had to log in again because of this. [3]
  • It is now easier to categorize images uploaded to Wikimedia Commons in the Commons Android app. [4]
  • Bare attributes in tags now parse according to the HTML5 specifications. <pages from= to= section=1> will parse as <pages from="to=" section="1"> instead of <pages from="" to="" section="1"> as it used to. Please use <pages from="" to="" section=1> or <pages section=1> instead. This is mostly likely to affect pages on Wikisource projects. [5]

Problems

  • Phabricator has been a bit unstable lately. This should be fixed now. [6]
  • The PageView API shows wrong data between 23 February and 29 February for pages with special characters in their title. [7]
  • The parsing change mentioned above caused a large number of pages to break, especially on Wikisource. [8]
  • You may see falsely formatted edit links on both mobile and desktop devices. Mobile devices can also show incorrect formatted table of contents. This should be fixed soon. [9]
  • Templates using TemplateData that were edited with the visual editor might have some problems in wikitext mode. This can be fixed by editing and saving the page by using the visual editor without making any changes. [10]

Changes this week

  • Cross-wiki notifications will be enabled as a beta feature on all wikis on 10 March. You will be able to get notifications when something happens on another Wikimedia wiki. [11]
  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 8 March. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 9 March. It will be on all wikis from 10 March (calendar).
  • Wikivoyages will get the Kartographer extension. Kartographer will allow <mapframe> and <maplink> tags in an article to insert an interactive map and overlay it with different markers. You can add ideas and suggestions to the Maps talk page. If you find any bugs, you can report them in Phabricator. [12]

  • You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 8 March at 20:00 (UTC). See how to join.

Future changes

  • The buttons in interfaces will be simplified. Instead of white, red, green and blue buttons, in future there will only be white, red and blue ones. [13]
  • The Wikimedia technical operations team plans to do some server work on 22 March. This could cause some problems, for example make it possible to read but not edit the Wikimedia wikis for a short period of time. The date for this might change. [14]

Aggressive Driving

Hello! Sorry to write it down here, but I was wondering what part of my edits were not constructive? The page before was opinionated and lacking in sources and I added 4 inline citations as well as fixed up grammar which is what the page was calling for. The list of examples of aggressive driving was also directly quoted from the FARS system implemented by the NHTSA itself so it is an appropriate source. Recent Changes regarding El Tagamu

Hi Raju, glad to meet you, this is Ahmed Metwally, founder of new social community that took place while ago named (5th Settlement) which means El Tagamu El Khames. I made such edits as the name is not really used here, and the correct name is either Fifth Settlement or 5th Settlement. Both domain names is owned by me and we are working on a social community project that will be launched very soon - Next week maximum - that talks about 5th Settlement and New Cairo updates, news, events .. etc.

Also I just noticed that the reference in this page BBC News is not related to the page and topic itself. So, I thought of adding my website 5thsettlement.com that will be launched soon to be resource for any information regarding new cairo or 5th Settlement. You'll find more links to the social sites we are running that explain further and give a hint of the news we share.

Sorry but I disgree with you as the clean-up of the article was needed in light of the latest ref. 16 from the most up-to-date and trust worthy source of all for this article. You just blindly reverted all changes regardless of the chnange, comments and content of it - i.e. incorrect use of "Serbian secret police" which did not exist the time, but correct "Yugoslav secret police". The current article is incorrect and confusing. In addition, there are reptitions, contradictions in certa8n sections implying English is either not your native laguage or you lack the proper educational qualifications to be doing what you do. Also in case of clean-up of non-existent references (i.e. ref. 8) or outdated ones (i.e. ref. 4) with no solid sources just shows your bias to consiraacy theories and/ or with Serbs.

Thank you for making the edits about Lilly. Would you consider changing out the top photo? Perhaps putting a picture of Lana only for her "bio box" and then putting the picture of Lilly from the Windy City Times in the Lilly "bio box"??

Fort Sill change

I do see it as a constructive change because on official documentation, Fort Sill is designated as Fort Sill, Oklahoma or Fort Sill, Commanche County Oklahoma. I know this because I was born at Reynolds Army Hospital at Fort Sill and it is not designated as a part of Lawton, Oklahoma but its own town(Fort Sill, Oklahoma).
