For each signatory to this page, the sign-year+month was collected. Further, for each signatory to this page, the 'contributions' page was accessed and last contribution year+month was collected. Two criteria sets were used to assess the data: first, whether the signatory had contributed in the past year and second whether contribution had taken place in the past quarter (3 months). The image above summarizes two data sets; the cumulative number of signatories and the cumulative number of those signatories who have contributed to Wikipedia in any way in the past quarter. The Spreadsheet contains information on those users who have not contributed to Wikipedia in the past year as well. This data can be used to refine the signatories list to provide a better view on the potential resource available to this WikiProject. The actual resource would depend upon the editing trends of the signatories, data which is not readily available given reasonable effort directed to user-accessible data.

This analysis was done manually, but it could in principle be automated and subsequently applied to any WikiProject and it's self-nominated participant set. The choice of "contributions in the last quarter" was based on the current backlog of uncategorized pages and might not be suitable for every WikiProject. Likely, a "contributions in the past year" criterion might be more relevant for content WikiProjects vs. maintenance ones.
