Mmcdowell56, formerly 64.65.186.254, and advertisements in Kent, Washington[edit]

I left a note on the Mmcdowell56 usertalk page - a copy-and-paste of the comment I left previously on the 64.65.186.254 talk page, which was the standard welcomespam macro. I suspect we'll have to keep an eye on this for a while. :-p Solarbird 23:10, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you replaced the gallery on this page by concensus, though I do not see any thing on that page's talk page, could you please direct me to the page where concensus was found?Latulla (talk) 21:17, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for writing to me about my reinstatement of a gallery in the above article. I didn't mean that that there was a written policy statement somewhere on WP, I meant that, since galleries first became possible a few years ago, they have become an accepted part of tens of thousands of articles so the consensus is that of repeated usage. It's hard to see why WP provided the code if galleries were unapproved!
Since galleries are so common on WP I don't understand why you are removing galleries not knowing if that is a reasonable thing to do or not. I have 16000 edits since January 2003 so I really do know what I’m talking about.
Of course, occasionally, a gallery will have too many pictures and must be cut down, and some gallery pictures are poor quality and must be removed, but this is not the same as total removal of the entire gallery. I regard it as unnecessary to send the reader off to Commons (and so do other editors, judging from the many galleries on WP) just because you feel they should! When I read WP I am delighted to find more pics at the bottom! It would be great if you could stop removing galleries. Best Wishes - Adrian Pingstone (talk) 21:48, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As per WP:NOT#REPOSITORY I have been moving galleries to Wikimedia Commons. I do understand why would would want a few picutes left on a certain page, this one included. Though many people may like the galleries on the bottom of pages, there are many who do not like the galleries. Just because there are alot of galleries does not make them a reason to keep all of them. Could we come to an agreement we keep 2 or 3 of the picuters that are in the gallery on that page and remove the gallery itself? Latulla (talk) 22:14, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You have failed to answer my comments, ignoring them, and merely restating that you don't like galleries. But the argument is not about what YOU want, its about what is NORMAL on WP. WP is a collaboration and not a place for your personal desires. Galleries are normal! I believe no other editor is trying to eliminate galleries. Particularly where the article is short the gallery is the only place to put additional pics. Do as you wish with Crossing but I may revert other gallery removals by yourself. My comments to you finish here. Good luck with your future editing - Adrian Pingstone (talk) 22:32, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Articles that you have been involved in editing—Monotypic taxon and Monospecificity—have been proposed for merging with another article. If you are interested, please participate in the merger discussion. Thank you. Nessie (talk) 16:14, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
