From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ouro is a person who has not left Wikipedia. He's just got a lot of work, complications in life, and two wonderful children, so he does not have as much time for editing as he used to. But I'm still here.

I am a translator with a few ISBNs and ISSNs here and there. I work with Fedora running on a Lenovo laptop (not one that came with Fedora pre-installed, though, I did that myself), and I use a trackball. I like biking and am an enthusiast of electric cars. I love books. My latest kick is learning to play the synths (well, the Roland Corporation Go Keys digital synthesizer and the Arturia MiniBrute analog synthesizer), and am greatly inspired by what Brendan Kavanagh does in his youtube videos.

I recently came to realise that my hitch-hiking past is a great contributor to who I am today, in that I prefer not to hurry with anything (but I can work quickly!), that I am rather open towards people (used not to be!), and that to rest I don't need much more than a blue sky above my head and a few minutes of peace and quiet. I travelled all across Europe, to Scotland, Corsica, Istanbul, the Balkans, Barcelona. Wonderful experiences that I think made me who I am, and taught me to be self-reliant, learn first and solve problems independently.

Just realised I want to add this: over the years I have learned to do a lot of things with my hands, and I realised why: seeing as I never get to see most of my work in physical form (other than on the laptop screen), I prefer hands-on hobbies like cooking and general experimenting in the kitchen, I've taught myself various DIY activities needed around the house, and I like to bring things that people throw away back to life, not just reading books I find in the street but also doing minor repairs on electronics (I did this with the laptop I'm writing these words on).

I am forty-one now, though I still do not feel grown up at all.

I love puffer jackets!
