Image Issue[edit]

Image I just edited Sherool I have created a subdomain for all the images I have added that may cause copyright issues here due to our footer on the sites. Here is the url Free use images I feel this should keep problems from developing as I will put any image I use on Wikipedia here. Please let me know if this is the best way handle this. Thanks.--Supplements 14:26, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sherool making a release page is a good idea I thought about as well and what you said about anybody could do that and still steal the pictures, that is why I linked the images to the sites I a got the image from.

What you suggested makes better sense to me but I can build a release page as well but it is about the same I could be stealing them and just sticking them on the page. Let me know what you perfer I do to make it easier to determine the images are our properity and for free use. I can't put that free use on the whole site but can on a free use page as suggested, as we have stuff that is copyrighted but not most of the images. I look forward to your response. --Supplements 18:34, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Hi Sherool. Hey I have a question about images. I have not deleted speedied images before. Anyway, a lot of the images tagged for speedy say basically "You indicated this was used only by permission", but I can't find where on the image page that it says that. What am I missing? Thanks. Reply posted on User talk:Herostratus. --Sherool (talk) 18:34, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. So I may assume that if see that (Template:Permission from license selector) that it has been auto-tagged and can be deleted. But I wonder why the copyright claimed by the uploader can not be accesed in any way, is this intentional or am I not looking in the right place? (After all, some unscrupulous person could add the template by hand, I suppose.) Herostratus 18:43, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question regarding image deletion[edit]

Hi there. You recently deleted two images I uploaded for the entry James Denton, for reason WP:CSD#I3. However, the copyright holder stated that these images were acceptable for posting on Wikipedia, as I stated in the upload. Please could you tell me what I need to do/how I need to upload/tag these images so that they do not get deleted again? This was my second attempt to upload them! Thank you. Celentine 8 September, 22:23

Reply posted on User talk:Celentine. --Sherool (talk) 00:33, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, this photo of yours is licensed under a non-free (no modifications allowed) Creative Commons license. This license is no longer acceptable on Wikipedia, and furthermore our image policy require users to only use free licenses for any self-created works they upload. So I was hoping if you would be willing to change the license to something that is compatable with Wikipedia. {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} or {{cc-by-2.5}} for example or any oher suitable free license will do. Alternatively I'm afraid we have to delete it.

Okay I updated the license. — RJH (talk) 14:22, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thanks for all your wikipedia work. It looks like you were responsible for adding the 'worldwide view' template to the public defender page. Those who have commented on the issue in the talk page note (correctly I think) that the phrase public defender is not in use in any other english speaking jurisdiction outside the US. If there are other uses of that phrase then I guess we should set up a disambiguation page. Otherwise I suggest that we remove the 'worldwide view' template and will do so in a few days unless either: a) you object, or b) I forget. If you think the template should remain please leave a message on the talk:public defender page as to why you think it should stay. I think a good way of globalizing the article would be to create links to the (existant or not) pages referring to the lawyers who represent indigent criminal defendants in other countries. (That and several other edits would help to get the page up to speed.)Thanks, PBF 04:47, 19 September 2006 (UTC), oakland, ca

Me again[edit]

Someone wrote an article about some singer Daniela Mercury, so I fixed it up, cuz it was just plain text, without links, and flow. I wanted also to put a photo of her album cover, with the appropriate album cover tag, so I uploaded, but everytime I want to put the photo in the article, when I click "preview" it doesn't show, and I don't understand why. The photo is danielamercury.jpg and I also uploaded it to Wiki commons, but for some reason it is now showing up. How come?

Thank you,

Lana

Image you deleted[edit]

Hello;

I would like to ask you about the picture you deleted from the article ‘Josipa Lisac’. The pictures were properly tagged the last time and they are being used with the permission from Josipa Lisac’s official site (www.josipalisac.com), so I was wondering why they were removed.

If there are further issues that need to be resolved regarding this picture, I would appreciate if you could give me instructions about that.

Image then Article you deleted[edit]

My wiki user name: (User:Speedy Koba)

Missing Article: William E. Nelson Perhaps there were too many Images there. I added them because there were official government and institution letters endorsing William E. Nelson's environmental methods, and felt they were relevant to establishing who he is. Perhaps this is considered promotion, I merely mean to inform. Did you delete the William E. Nelson Article completely, because I can't find it anywhere not even in ‘deleted wiki articles’. I worked on that article to give him a more legitimate wiki presence he deserves. Please let me know how to find that article so I can make it more appropriate. He has been working for the environment for almost 50 years. I don't think the entire article deserves to be deleted because of excessive images letters if that was you. I am also very new to wikipedia, and have some policy reading to do if I must remove the excessive images I will. Please help and understand my sincerity. Thanks,

Dan

Flickr images on Wiki[edit]

Sherool, I hope you have seen this. User:Fisss deleted free images from Saint Petersburg, which have been there for years, and replaced them with new images apparently uploaded from Flickr. These were removed from the article by OrphanBot and I restored the stable version of the article. Fisss keeps reverting to his preferred version en masse. The problem is, he does not indicate urls of images uploaded by him from Flickr. For instance, I discovered this image here, but I'm not sure whether its license is compatible with ours. Could you investigate? If the images are OK, I will leave a note for Fisss in Russian (he does not seem to understand English well), explaining which images may be uploaded from Flickr and which may not. --Ghirla -трёп- 13:57, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. This image was uploaded about a year about with a whole bunch of others (about like 20 or 25) attached to the article M-DCPS. Recently (about a month ago), I discussed this set of images with another user, and we had decided to delete all of them as none of the originally uploaded ones met fair use requirements. He then went around and got rid of the vast majaority of them, all of them being attached to the aforementioned M-DCPS article (basically, they are all school images taken from the district website and added to each individual school article, with the exceptions of Miami Springs High School and Coral Gables High School since both of these articles contain self-made images). I guess that after deleting the majority of those images, he may have missed some, so feel free to go ahead and delete this image, and then head to the M-DCPS article, and take a look through each of the school articles attached to it, then delete any image there that is labelled fair use (but please check to make sure they are labelled fair use as some may be self-made or have other tags that are eligible). If you find images with other tags attached to them, and these tags violate the requirements for uploading as such, feel free to delete those as well. As the uploader of all those immages, I am fine with deleting them since when i uploaded them i was unaware of my error in using the fair use tags. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, and remember not to delete the ones for Miami Springs and Coral Gables as this other user and I made those ourselves. Also, please reply to this message so I know you've received it and understood. Thanks! -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 23:03, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re: See Template:1632 covers too! Don't know what happened to the article stub 1635: The Cannon Law whilst I was off in real life, but this was linked in the template at least... and the novel just came out in HC — I just got and finished it last weekend! The cover art you deleted was in the one I'd stubbed together...
OIC! I'd misspelled 'Cannon' as 'Canon' (like the cover backdrop!), and when they merged mine with Wwoods' version, they failed to keep both images in the article. Please see the Talk:1635: The Cannon Law and the move 'controversy' there... along with my edit summary. We'll need the correct cover back, if you can resurect it. I'll stub it back in and hope it stays as a redlink! I'm including all cover versions in the article since they differ from e-book, to HC, to paperback, just like the ISBN's.
Can you explain what happened with the What links here on {{1632 covers}}? Since you know me, I'd have thought you'd have made an inquiry at least! Thanks and Best regards // FrankB 02:49, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
