Hi.

Please don't mindlessly spam me about inconsequential deletions that I'm almost certainly not going to care about. I understand that Twinkle does that by default, but you do have the option to tell it not to, and that would avoid the notification which risks waking the dog - and then he'll just want food, and the wife will wonder what's going on, and, well, you know how it goes... Thanks for your future consideration, and happy editing. Begoon 14:16, 11 March 2022 (UTC)

Spyhouse image

Hello Minorax -

I have no idea how to message on Wikipedia, I don't use or edit Wikipedia.

I'm not sure why I was contacted about the image (I was previously involved in the Spyhouse company and headed the department that commissioned these works, perhaps that's the reason, nor am I sure why you are editing because I'm pretty confident that conversely, you were not involved in the Spyhouse. Anyway, the Spyhouse development company commissioned these works in the 1990's by Duke Durfee of the DMD Group which was then NYC based. In the early 2000's when the company was briefly resurrected, former Disney and Universal Park lighting designer, Susan Lustig, redeveloped the pictures redoing the lighting and coloration, and adding the new logos and cityscape backdrop. I can assure you that anyone from Spyhouse would allow and in fact want anything from Spyhouse to be associated with Spyhouse or its team. Please feel free to contact me if there's any kind of message system here (I'm clueless how this works). 72.134.101.115 (talk) 06:56, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

Spyhouse image

Darn, I have no idea how to edit the message I just sent you (is there a messaging section? This is such a pain, I wish people would leave alone things that they aren't or were not involved in, but whatever).

BTW, as mentioned, I was part of the team that developed Spyhouse and an owner, and Sterling Long-Colbo as an owner, myself, and a few others have the rights to use these pictures, and in fact own the originals that we commissioned.

I haven't thought about this venture in a long time, so I'm not sure why anyone would edit it, but whatever.

Please feel free to message me if there's a way to.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards 72.134.101.115 (talk) 07:04, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

I believe that the elements were taken from an online source and mashing them together doesn't give you the right to own the copyright to these images. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 12:24, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

Claude Yates photo

I don't understand what you are questioning regarding this image. As I stated, the image came from a photograph in my grandmothers photo album. She knew Mr. Yates, but she, like him, have been dead for decades. Please advise. Mgrē@sŏn (Talk) 15:33, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

Image marked for deletion: "Unused Wikipedia screenshot"

Hi. Last November I added the image File:Another example of Wikipedia "nbsp" template bug (Firefox browser).png. I referenced the image in a Help Desk query titled Spacing error in "nbsp" template, on Nov 19, 2021, which has since been archived.

I'm happy for the image to be deleted. Ghastlyman (talk) 16:00, 8 April 2022 (UTC)

Drafts

Those were drafts, I am working on them. They were recently started. I technically don't need to use the AfC process either, and when ready, can move articles directly to the main space and have done so many times. Thank you. Th78blue (talk) 10:28, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

Query

Hello, Minorax,

I was hoping you could help me with a favor. I just deleted a PROD of a person which used this glamour image on the page File:Nadia García Díaz.jpg. It was the only use of this file on the English Wikipedia, there is a Commons image that some other projects use. I wanted to PROD it but for some reason the Twinkle drop down menu doesn't offer that option to me. This has happened before for me when I try to PROD images, sometimes the option is there but most times, it just doesn't appear. Could you do the proper tagging? You seem to be an expert with PRODding unwanted images. Thanks for any help you can provide. Liz Read! Talk! 03:23, 3 July 2022 (UTC)

@Liz: Hello. PROD doesn't exist on commons. You can nominate it via deletion through the c:COM:RFD channel. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 03:29, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
Oh, I could have sworn that this photo was on the English Wikipedia, not the Commons. My mistake! Well, thanks any way. Liz Read! Talk! 02:02, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

I'm out

I tried to create a page for software thatyes, I HAVE made myself, so that people are aware of it. This process is so ridiculously convoluted and your admins or whatever the hell theyre called are so incredibly rude that Im done with this process. Its not worth it to contribute content or help when the only response I receive is "this is totally innappropriate" - what part of it is? NO response, because the people who work here are drunk with the miniscule amount of power that they think they have. Id rather NOT have a page then try and try to do this the right way, being as objective as I possibly can, only to have my time wasted by wannabe editors. So Im out. As for your policies on "advertisements" - if that had been what I was trying to create it would have been written MUCH differently. But with ZERO ACTUAL feedback this process fails. Your admins or moedrators or whatever theyre called are worthless. as an actual teacher I can say feedback matters - your people offer nothing. Query

Hello, Minorax,

I hope you are well and are enjoying the summer or winter depending on which hemisphere you are living in!

I had a question about your many PROD'd files. Often, you note in the PROD deletion rationale what article or draft the image was uploaded to be used on. Usually these pages were deleted years and years ago and I'm just wondering how you locate the original use for files when you can not view the deleted pages and this information is not listed on the file description. It seems like it would involve a lot of detective work on your part. I find it useful for you to include this data and several times it has led me back to the deleted article to see what context the image might have had in the article it was used in. Also, when you list a duplicate file on the Commons, I always check it out to see if it a better image which is always is.

I think you score a perfect 10 on finding unused and/or duplicate, deletable files so I have no problem with your tagging and it's good to clear these mostly personal photos or duplicates out of the project. I was just curious how you tracked down all of this information when you review and tag so many images. Thank you for all of the work you do on a mostly unseen activity on the encyclopedia. Liz Read! Talk! 21:25, 26 July 2022 (UTC)

@Liz: Hello. I mainly check the uploader's talk page (and its history) or their contributions to see if there's any clue on where the files were used. In addition, I'd would also use Special:Search to search in the Article or Draft namespace and as the deletion log is visible to everyone, I will roughly know if whatever is depicted in the file is the subject of the deleted page. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 06:45, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
Oh, that makes sense. But considering you are sometimes tagging dozens of unused files, this is beyond due diligence. Thanks for putting in the time, you might be surprised how often that a page gets tagged for deletion with no explanation provided at all on why it should be deleted! Liz Read! Talk! 18:15, 27 July 2022 (UTC)

Regarding non-free image file

Hello, you have mentioned in my talk page that the non-free file that I uploaded would get deleted within 7 days if not used in any main space article (File:Michael Adhikari 2022 film.jpg). The issue is that, the image file was previously used in the main space article, the article is now moved to the draft. For which reason I'm not able to use the image file in any article at the moment until the article moved into draft gets approved for main space. So, is there a way to keep the file for now so it can be used on the article later on when it is approved for main space? Krishna Dahal (talk) 14:54, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

@Krishnadahal12: Hello. You can submit a refund request after the draft has been approved and moved back to mainspace. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 07:12, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
@Minorax sure, thanks for replying.Krishna Dahal (talk) 19:22, 29 July 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Krishna Amin Patel

Hello Minorax. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Krishna Amin Patel, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: I declined your request for A7 because the article asserts the subject wrote a book, which could lead to notability under WP:NAUTHOR. I would go for deletion under PROD or AfD instead. Thank you. Modussiccandi (talk) 11:53, 15 August 2022 (UTC)

File:RCSS logo.jpeg

Hello, Minorax, Thanks for leaving a note on my talk page about the missing copyright and source info on File:RCSS logo.jpeg. Please delete that file at your convenience, as I uploaded the wrong logo. Moral: If you have a chance to name a place in the American South, do not pick "Richmond", as there are already too many places with that name. — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 05:00, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
