Hi,

I have written a draft (Eric Peters) of Eric Peters, a german painter, and I would be very glad you could check and improve it if necessary.

Thank you for your efforts.

Hi Huen Tén, I would suggest that yu submit the article to Articles for Creation for review. This way multiple editors can easily take a look at it and propose changes/additions/improvements etc.
If you do want to submit it, just place --> {{AFC_submission/submit}} to the top of the page. - Happysailor (Talk) 16:41, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Forum

It is not inappropriate and I'm not experimenting. I just want to know what other users think about adding a forum. Please don't delete it until other users have answered the question. Joseph507357 18:18, 22 August 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joseph507357 (talkcontribs)

The problem is, you have created an article titled Wikipedia Forum. There is no such thing, therefore it is a hoax
The method of your question is inappropriate. The place to take this is probably the village pump, where other editors could then post their views on your question. - Happysailor (Talk) 18:20, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
Do You know what a Forum is?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Joseph507357 (talkcontribs)
I do, as I administer a number of them, however Wikipedia has no Forum. It has talk pages, and places that act similar to a forum (i.e. WP:Village Pump). As you were asking a question, I suggest you ask it somewhere more suitable. - Happysailor (Talk) 18:33, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

hi, I left a message for you about the Climate Group entry on my talk page.

Hi Happysailor!

Thanks for your review. I am still confused about the neutrality and "promo" comments. My last reviewer told me I was close and seemed satisfied with the stylistic changes I made to become Wiki-esque. Can you please (and I know you're very overwhelmed at the moment) give me specific examples of your issues? I've been through this many times before and I was assured that I was close to the finish line... I'd like to complete this before I drop dead!!! Am curious about your profession: I have worked with a few shipping companies, e.g., Willenius Wilhwelmsen, Hapag Lloyd. What do you do?

Thanks so much -

Bonnie Bonnie0718 (talk) 22:36, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Bonnie. If you look at my actual edit, I fhaven't actually assessed your submission at all. The edit I did was only to remove duplicated WP:AfC templates from the submission which weren't needed because Fetch-comms had already placed the article on hold (which means either he, or another editor will return to re-assess the article), thus another afc template isn't needed.
Good luck with the submission, and I may revisit it at a later date to assess if no-one else has. - Happysailor (Talk) 22:47, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Happysailor for the clarification. As you could probably figured, I'm a newbie to all of this. There are frequent occasions when I feel Wiki-whemed.... Wiki-whacked... Whatever... :( Bonnie0718 (talk) 23:09, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

This is not a request but just a note to provide few details to you regarding my band (WAJD). Though we have a lot of fans in Pakistan but very few take time and courage to write an article. There is a lot of literacy and awareness required which in ths part of world is missing . I wont be hidding behind the truth that this article is about a band that i have formed and its against rules of wiki but you can search or google that band has a impact and its one of the most popular in pakistan. THe only issue is that my album has just released and i wanted wiki's article to cover the details on album so the album is sold and i can get the royality.for improving the article and adding more sournce i;m working, till then please let me know if you like to have any info....i will come with 100% autehtic sources soon

no worries. Here to help - Happysailor (Talk) 22:19, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

The problem is that my content was copied to the new article HMS Montreal (1761) without attribution, when that article was created. There is verbatim lifting of content from my submission, which predates the creation of the HMS Montreal article. This clearly violates WP:Cut and paste moves and WP:GFDL for attributory purposes. This is evident on the very first edit of HMS Montreal (1761) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) which postdates my AFC submission by an hour Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/French frigate Montréal (edit | project page | history | links | watch | logs) ; comparing content and timestamps.

76.66.200.95 (talk) 12:20, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

The solution is to either move Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/French frigate Montréal to French frigate Montréal, make it a redirect to HMS Montreal (1761), adding {{R from merge}} and talk page attribution tags ( {{mergedfrom}} and {{mergedto}} ) for history purposes, or history merge it into HMS Montreal 1761, say via WP:SPLICE process. 76.66.200.95 (talk) 12:29, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
It has been history merged, so this was solved, through discussion at WT:AFC. 76.66.200.95 (talk) 06:22, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Good to see this has been resolved. Good look with any other afc submissions you create. - Happysailor (Talk) 21:15, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Dear Happysailor,

being new to Wikipedia, I am sure that the page I have created, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Emil Artin Junior Prize in Mathematics could have been done significantly better.

Here is why I do consider the topic to be of Wikipedia significance:

1. This is a mathematical award named after one of the greatest 20th century mathematicians, who, obviously, does have a Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emil_Artin , and I thought that the entry could be linked in the See also section of that entry.

2. There is ample documentation for the significance of the award. In fact, the items I appended in pdf under External Links, are the pages of the Notices of the American Mathematical Society, the world-wide journal of record for mathematical awards, which mentions every single award. These awards are made for outstanding results, published in major journals of mathematics.

3. This is the only award named after Emil Artin, and is in its 9th year (the 2010 award has been made, but the announcement in the Notices of the American Mathematical Society will appear in the December issue, at which time I thought I would add the name of this year's recipient.

4. If one looks under http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Mathematical_Society one find all the prizes offered by them,

including the rather obscure http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naylor_Prize_and_Lectureship - a fact to be welcomed,

and which indicates that there is a place in Wikipedia for major mathematical awards.

Many thanks for your attention to this matter,

VictorPamb —Preceding unsigned comment added by VictorPamb (talkcontribs) 18:29, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Victor. Thanks for submitting an article for review, however the article in question didn;t 'assert it's notability. What you need to do is go through the article, preferably expand it, and assert why the award is notable using references and footnotes.
Once you have done this, you can resubmit it for review again. A denied submission is not the end of the world, and you are free to edit it and resubmit again. I hope that helps. - Happysailor (Talk) 19:18, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Question Comment and a Thank You!

Hi Alpha Quadrant and Happy Sailor!

Thank you for reviewing my first Wikipedia Article (Rick DePiro (aka Ricky Dee). Because I'm pretty new to this, maybe you can assist me. I'd be grateful!

My confusion lies in the fact that I've looked at several other articles that have passed and been accepted and I thought mine was even more complete than those. (I realize I'm most likely mistaken!) BUT, I just want to get this right and not waste your valuable time resubmitting changes that are in ANY way sub-par.

You were kind to mention reasons behind why my article was on hold, namely not using Wikipedia as a source for the "resources" portion (I believe).

One example I looked at several times while writing my article was Guy Eckstine. His page seems to use uses (almost exclusively) Wikipedia sources and yet was accepted.

There are several others like that but they, like Mr. Eckstine, obviously did something right that I didn't. Is mine too long or IF I remove some information would it then be acceptable? Another is James Blake (musician). His page is VERY short but his references are third party yet not major labels or major retailors like QVC, Roland Corporation, the White House, or iconic names like Johnny Cash, Don Costa or Michael MacDonald -- could you please explain because I think I could fix this. one additional recent addition is Al Lewis (singer-songwriter). Would it be better right now to shorten or change Mr DePiro's article to be more like this one? —Preceding unsigned comment added by A&RBoss (talk • contribs) 05:48, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

I'll GLADLY do whatever is necessary and in learning, I'll write better articles. Please (if you would) help me understand how mine can be more like Mr. Eckstines so that it can too be approved and accepted without any conditions like his.

-- It's probably obvious to an expert like you -- so forgive the ignorance in my question but Im really hopng to get this article right. Mr. DePiro is a worthy source which I know definitely fits Wikipedia's stringent criteria for acceptance, and I'd like to help fix this in any way I can.

Would you kindly look at Guy Eckstine's page for me and help explain why it's a proper page for Wikipedia (which it obviously is) ?

THANK YOU again and thanks for teaching me and helping me out! This is a GREAT site!!

Sincerely

Hi RBoss, The article is looking ok, however the comments you recieved state that you need to use footnotes to enter your references into the article rather than just a list at the end.
As Alpha also said, Wikipedia is not a valid source for verifibility and claims made within an article. Also, there should not be any external links within the prose of an article, they belong in the 'external links' section of the article only. - Happysailor (Talk) 17:37, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Confirmation of account creation for the ACC account creation interface - Happysailor 21:24, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for applying to access the account creation tool. I have approved your request so welcome to the team. You may now access the tool here. Before you do so, please read the tool's guide thoroughly to familiarize yourself with the process.
You may also want to join #wikipedia-en-accounts on IRC where a bot informs us when new account requests come in and to get any advice on requests as well as the mailing list. Please note that we have implemented a policy of zero tolerance on mishandled requests, and that failure to assess correctly will result in suspension. I would like to emphasize that it is not a race to complete a request, and each one should be handled diligently and thoroughly.
Currently you are allowed to create up to six accounts per day, although you won't be able to create an account with a similar name to that of another user; these requests are marked "Account Creator Needed" by the bot and "Flagged user needed" in the tool. However, if you reach the limit frequently, you can request the account creator permission at WP:PERM.
Please keep in mind that the ACC tool is a powerful program, and misuse will result in your access being suspended by a tool administrator. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. Again welcome! --Alexandr Dmitri (talk) 07:13, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Guide Me !

I had submitted 'Visual Merchandising Education in India' article. I read about 'Visual Merchandising Education in India' from various websites. The Article was based on material from other websites but the Wording was my own. I only took the Academic 'Eligibility required for pursuing Visual Merchandising course in India' and 'Some of the Major Institutes providing Visual Merchandising Courses', Part from www.targetstudy.com . These 2 parts are available in various other websites also but since this was the one that came up first, i referred to it. As per the 'Reputable, Third-Party' source if all the websites seem to have same sort of content regarding the above mentioned 2 Parts, there doesn't seem to be any criteria of 'Reputable, Third-Party' source because these 2 parts are Universal all over the web. So i should mention more websites from which these 2 parts belong? Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ravneets04 (talkcontribs) 05:37, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi there, there are a few policies that you need to look at before resubmitting your article for review.
  • WP:NOT lists things that do not belong on Wikipedia
  • WP:GNG details the guideline on Notability; that all articles should have received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.
  • WP:V which explains about verifibility, and explains about reliable soures etc.
All submissions must follow these guidelines to be accepted through articles for creation. - Happysailor 08:40, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

asking help

Dear Happysailor, Following your message can you please advise how we could resubmit information to allow us a wikipedia page. As we are a school we obviously have different webpages where we have the same descriptions we would wish to use on Wikipedia page. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience. Sebyke.a (talk) 11:14, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Sebyke - Your submission was declined because it copied content from another source. Copyright is automatically assumed. Please read WP:CV which explains about copyright, and what can be done to release previously published work into the public domain for re-use.
You also should read the WP:GNGGeneral Notability Guideline which explains about notability and providng sources to prove it. - - Happysailor 08:45, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Dear Happysailor,

thank you verry much for your comment now we have created the new description of the school, however it seems to me we can't edit anymore. Is it possible to change it?

this is a new text that I would like to change with the old description:

Ripon Cathedral Choir School, situated in the heart of North Yorkshire, is an independent Prep school for girls and boys 3 to 13 years of age. The school offers boarding and has an excellent reputation for both music and academic achievements.

thank you very much for your help. Sebyke.a (talk) 12:41, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

I don't understand something.

The page that I am creating is constantly being deleted. The reason for deletion is that the subject matter is about a website. But that can't be the case because I noticed that Style.com had a Wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Style.com Style.com . The Fashion Protal page was not about 1 website, it was about a bunch of different websites that do the same thing. These sites are known as portals into the fashion industries. There is no information on the subject anywhere on Wiki and that is why I wanted to post it. Chennell Christopher (talk) 18:45, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

The page was deleted because it was unencyclopedic and did not claim any notability. I advise you read up on the general notability guideline which regards to that. Also the page on Neologisms might be of interest in respoect of this article. - Happysailor 08:48, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for helping, I can understand that but the reason that I am trying to post it is because of that reason. I had to define a fashion portal and list the different types for a class project and I could hardly find anything. Is there anything that I can do to make it a notable and encyclopidic topic? And how was style.com able to write about their website? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chennell Christopher (talkcontribs) 14:08, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Happy Sailor, i've never made a wiki page before (and it shows!) replying to your feedback about footnotes. can you please be more specific as to which refs should be in the footnotes. Robyner (talk) 19:08, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Rob, All referenes should be cited in footnotes relevent to the fact theyare referencing. You currently have most of your refs in this way, however you have some lines in the sources and references sections that should not be there (refs 30 - 41). - Happysailor 08:52, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

VADI

I think that my one-sentence article on VADI is completely neutral; it gives no impression regarding whether VADI is any good or not (and in fact I do not know whether it is any good or not?) but nevertheless if you said that it violates WP:DICTDEF, I would be inclined to agree with you. I suppose the best thing to do, if you would please reconsider, is just make "VADI" a redirect to "vadi," and then add my one-line entry on "VADI" to the bottom of the "vadi" page. 69.251.180.224 (talk) 17:07, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

I have created the redirect as you mentioned above. Feel free to add the Verizon entry to the disambig page. Please be mindful of the rules for disambig pages, in that there should only be a single link per intro line and no references. - Happysailor 18:33, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Question about review

Sorry, but I am a bit confused. I had done some major edits to try to respond to a hold on the article I submitted but when I added the tag to request someone look at the changes, a new review notice appeared on top of the hold. It looks like you took off the new review, leaving the hold, but there was no new explanation added to the hold (the original hold was for npv, but I am not sure if that's what's up now.)

In any event, if you could clarify the status and, if possible, give at least one example of where there is an issue so I can learn how to address it, it would be much appreciated. I am trying my best to learn how this all works. Thanks! Maberyroad (talk) 10:49, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

The submission is on hold. The reviewer made the comments you see there. I can see you have been working on it, and that's great - however adding multiple active AFC submission tags to the page messes up the system.
When a reviewer gets a chance, they will re-review the submission taking into account what is in the hold notice and all the edits you have done. If there are any other issues, they will be flagged - otherwise it will be created.
I haven't had a chance to do any in-depth reviewing today and I was just doing some cleanup to some submissions. Your submission is still listed and an editor will get to it when they can. - Happysailor 11:14, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Can you tell me what specifically needs improvement? Thank you. And can you tell how you make your userpage look so cool?
Mocha2007 (talk) 21:29, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

The red declined box at the top of the submission states what the problem is. The submission is unsourced or contains unreliable sources.
The source you have provided is a primary source; which counts as unreliable. You need independent third party sources for an article - see WP:42 - Happysailor 11:37, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
P.S. for how to edit your userpage, see WP:UPDC - Happysailor 11:38, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

I have created this entry because John Wilder is referenced on the page for Kennett, MO, but the link there was to the wrong John Wilder. I deleted that link and have tried to create a new entry for the correct C. John Wilder. The sources for this entry are the Dallas Morning News, CFO Magazine, the Harvard Business Review, and Southeast Missouri State University. Given that Mr. Wilder is still living, I don't know what other kinds of sources I could find. Do you have any suggestions for what I can do to get the entry approved? Thank you. --Rjcmp1 (talk) 23:52, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

The submission gave no sources or references. All articles must have significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. See WP:REFB on how to place references in articles as footnotes. Any external links should also not be in the prose of the article, and should ideally be in their own external links section at the base of the pate - See WP:EL#How_to_link - Happysailor 11:41, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Article on Lotho

hey happy sailor. I added in another award Lotho won recently. Is he notable enough yet? (2010 awards). This is like the Philippine's version of Fashion Style Awards.

Thanks. Some more guidance would be appreciated if this still isn't considerably notable.

Hi:)

Hi Happy Sailor, I had to unfortunately revert the changes you made to a template. The template is one for displaying ACC Tool Server Usage authorisation, not account creator status. Your change unfortunately changed even the basic premise of the template :) So had to revert. For account creator status, there are other templates available. Please contact me on my talk page if you wish to discuss anything. Am not watching this page :) Thanks and regards. Wifione ....... Leave a message 15:43, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Thank You Happy Sailor for your advice!

As I told Alpha Quadrant, Thanks for your great advice and edits! I have (hopefully) fixed what was incomplete and unacceptable in my article and have made the changes and am ready for resubmission. However, I dont want to resubmit without an opinion that the article "looks fine or good" from a Wiki PRO like you! Your advice was a BIG help!

Can you please tell me how I can get the "revised article" reviewed by an expert before I resubmit so I dont have to worry about it being declined again?

I REALLY appreciate your expertise and I hope the changes Ive made are "right" and acceptable for Wikipedia! IF you'd like a reminder of who I am and what the article is , it can be seen at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Rick_DePiro_%28aka_Ricky_Dee%29

Again thanks and I look forward to your assistance or guidance once again!

I have no idea what photo you are refering to as you have not linked to it or specified which photo you are complaining about. All the photos on the article seem to have valid licenses to allow their reproducction. Details on image licensing can be found at Commons:Licensing. - Happysailor 15:19, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

You refactored another users post by changing their title into a rant in capital letters. If you want to post on a users talk page, please click the 'new section' link at the top of the page. - Happysailor 21:06, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
