May I ask for your assistance resolving a Copyright claim against my work?

This is the page in question: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenyon_Farrow

I have reviewed the claim and found a flaw in the method, most specifically that the "copyrighted" words belong to a list of the subjects published works and awards. I am of the opinion that this claim was not properly investigated and should never have been lodged. I write so because I did not commit plagiarism, rather I listed the published works and awards in order of their publication/reception. @Bbarmadillo: -- She is certainly more famous than those Belarus rock groups and most of the sources used are solid. Although it's hardly necessary to use ALL of them! It appears from the history that there is not one person monopolizing that article, so there is probably no ulterior motive as we saw previously. Instead of reaching a magic 300 as it once did last year, the backlog approaching 6,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.

Why I Hate Speedy Deleters, a 2008 essay by long since retired Ballonman, is still as valid today. Those of us who patrol large numbers of new pages can be forgiven for making the occasional mistake while others can learn from their 'beginner' errors. Worth reading.

Deletion tags

Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon (you will need to have 'Nominated for deletion' enabled for this in your filters) may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders using Twinkle. They require your further verification.

Paid editing

Please be sure to look for the tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. WMF policy requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.

Subject-specific notability guidelines' (SNG). Alternatives to deletion

Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves once more with notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
Blank-and-Redirect is a solution anchored in policy. Please consider this alternative before PRODing or CSD. Note however, that users will often revert or usurp redirects to re-create deleted articles. Do regularly patrol the redirects in the feed.

Not English

A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, and if they do have potential, tag as required, then move to draft. Modify the text of the template as appropriate before sending it.

Tools

Regular reviewers will appreciate the most recent enhancements to the New Pages Feed and features in the Curation tool, and there are still more to come. Due to the wealth of information now displayed by ORES, reviewers are strongly encouraged to use the system now rather than Twinkle; it will also correctly populate the logs.

Stub sorting, by SD0001: A new script is available for adding/removing stub tags. See User:SD0001/StubSorter.js, It features a simple HotCat-style dynamic search field. Many of the reviewers who are using it are finding it an improvement upon other available tools.

Assessment: The script at User:Evad37/rater makes the addition of Wikiproject templates extremely easy. New page creators rarely do this. Reviewers are not obliged to make these edits but they only take a few seconds. They can use the Curation message system to let the creator know what they have done.

DannyS712 bot III is now patrolling certain categories of uncontroversial redirects. Curious? Check out its patrol log.

Uploading images

Please resize your images to 300×300 pixels before uploading—this is the recommended size. Also, it would also be in your best interest to convert them from JPG to PNG, considering JPG is a compressed image file format and PNG is lossless. In regards to size, 1,200 × 1,200 pixels is needlessly and far too large for claims of fair use on Wikipedia. Your upload of the cover for Amadjar has been resized by a bot and that revision will be deleted, as will anything you upload that is larger than 316×316. Thanks. Ss112 00:42, 1 October 2019 (UTC)

My point is there's very little point in bothering to upload an image if a bot is just going to replace it. I was trying to give you advice on the accepted dimensions for fair use images and preferred format because I didn't think you'd want to waste your time, but if you want to ignore that because you're offended at being given advice like you're too experienced for it or whatever the reason for your snark is, that's on you. @Ss112: and @Another Believer: - It looks like you two have something going on, which shouldn't be here. But on this topic I agree with A.B. The bot would not have any image to "replace" (actually resize) if I hadn't uploaded a larger one first, and otherwise there would continue to be an album article with no cover image. And it is unnecessary for me to resize the image on my end when the bot does it within 24 hours. None of that is a waste of my time and I do not need advice on my time from someone who did not make any effort at enhancing the article with an image. Also I do not care if my name is not attached to the later resized version of the image because the point is to improve Wikipedia. The bot resizing your image is a replacement with a new revision. I didn't say nor imply that I contributed anything to the article—I just noticed your edits to it. And yes, I created the redirect, just as I'm sure you have created "cheesy" redirects other users have expanded into an article, and Another Believer does all the time too. Don't pretend like you made the article—it already existed because the user Bhaydar-aa made it. By the way, I create plenty of articles, thanks—I don't just make redirects. Honestly, boo hoo—you spent hours expanding an album article (that nobody asked you to, by the way) and you're complaining that you don't have credit for creating it when you didn't even create it to begin with? Yorkton Film Festival

Doomsdayer520 I would like to ask if you would consider taking a look at Yorkton Film Festival. The page was missing all its original references (dead links) and was written somewhat like an advertisement or promotional piece. The original references were mostly all relying on the festival's own website. I've researched and found several articles, mostly newspaper articles, and hope that I've been successful improving it since since User:Theroadislong made their comment on the talk page and tagged the article. I've written a few biographical living person articles but am not highly experienced with film festival articles. Some of the original content has been removed or moved around plus some new content has been added. It seems okay to me but would be very helpful to have another opinion. I'm hoping to work toward making the article acceptable. Once once that is achieved then to get the tag removed and maybe make separate pages for the awards. Thanks! A more important issue with the article is that you merely began the process with six states/territories out of several dozen. Mini-LPs

Thank you!!!! I will look into this! It was a lot of work, even just trying to get a parallel navigation (Mini-Lps vs LPs) to snap into place, and I'm still refining it.

It's not really an "unconventional" term in the real world, by the way, just a convention that has more or less gone away. "Mini-LP" is redesignation of what was THE standard long-playing format from 1948 until around 1956, when 12" records replaced them. So we no longer think of these as "LPs", as they hold about half of the running time.

I will do my part to improve the links and citations on the pages as well. I appreciate GREATLY the process you used to inform me about improving the pages. It was significantly more constructive and page-improving than vanishing the pages or threatening me, which is what I've also dealt with, in the middle of about 50 hours of work on trying to untangle the total MESS and both unsourced and *sourced* misinformation that is the Thelonious Monk pages on Wikipedia. I will be addressing the linkrot potential shortly (on these and the related Prestige "LP" Monk pages). I have my hands full simply trying to get the citations into the page without being banned by Dan56. These pages have been inaccurate, barely literate, and unsourced for _years_, and I get threatened for trying to fix the darned things and make them more accurate and literate. Yes. When I went to fix the link rot, I found that it had already been handled.

On the other hand, I put hours of good-faith work into attempting to improve pages for Thelonious Monk's three primary Prestige scrambled "albums," complete with properly "unrotted" links, and everything I did was reverted by an editor who is assessing that I'm being a Disruptive Editor. I seek mediation or support on this matter. I may not being making these edits in the best possible way, but I see a need to improve these articles, and I am now at a loss.Sojambi Pinola (talk) 18:48, 18 October 2019 (UTC)

@Sojambi Pinola: - First, don't despair because you can revert the reversions of your work. If this other person truly thinks you are a disruptive editor they can have Administrators investigate and you would get the opportunity to give your side of the story. If they don't do that, you can start the same process on them if they always revert your work for reasons with which you disagree. Personally, I think this group of articles are useful for Wikipedia but others may think the sources are too scanty. Sleezy D

@Doomsdayer520: Hi, thanks for looking at my page for Sleezy D. Yes if you want to clean up the page and make it more formal sounding, please go ahead. I included quotes from the media as this sums up this person we sadly lost better than I could say, so maybe those should be in quote boxes at least. We can only gather this small amount of info for the guy who passed away, most of it came from the Marshall Jefferson funeral fund web site, and I guess someone will need to make an archive link to this.

If there is anything you can think of to make the page even better or more acceptable, thats great. I linked the page to all references of Sleazy on wiki, of which there were 4 I think, so if you want to change the name of the file to something better, there are only a few related files affected. A bit newb to all this editing stuff.

New Page Review newsletter November 2019

Hello Doomsdayer520,

This newsletter comes a little earlier than usual because the backlog is rising again and the holidays are coming very soon.

Getting the queue to 0

There are now 816 holders of the New Page Reviewer flag! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog but it's still roughly less than 10% doing 90% of the work. Now it's time for action.
Exactly one year ago there were 'only' 3,650 unreviewed articles, now we will soon be approaching 7,000 despite the growing number of requests for the NPR user right. If each reviewer soon does only 2 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by every reviewer doing only 1 review every 2 days - that's only a few minutes work on the bus on the way to the office or to class! Let's get this over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Would you like feedback on your reviews? Are you an experienced reviewer who can give feedback to other reviewers? If so there are two new feedback pilot programs. New Reviewer mentorship will match newer reviewers with an experienced reviewer with a new reviewer. The other program will be an occasional peer review cohort for moderate or experienced reviewers to give feedback to each other. The first cohort will launch November 13.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work, especially while some routine tagging for deletion can still be carried out by non NPR holders and inexperienced users. In Japan's Oricon, I think that albums and singles weekly chart are announced on Wednesday (maybe) because almost all CDs in Japan are released on every Wednesday. In fact, Conquerors CD was also released on Wednesday (December 11). If Conqueror peaked #12 on Oricon weekly album chart, it would peak at #12 on this. But it's wrong ("Symphogear XD Unlimited"'s album truly peaked #12). Oricon weekly album chart are announced until one week (from December 2 to December 8, 2019) now. Albums and singles in Japan, released on December 11, will be listed and announced on next two week (from December 9 to December 15). This year's Reviewer of the Year is Rosguill. Having gotten the reviewer PERM in August 2018, they have been a regular reviewer of articles and redirects, been an active participant in the NPP community, and has been the driving force for the emerging NPP Source Guide that will help reviewers better evaluate sourcing and notability in many countries for which it has historically been difficult.

Special commendation again goes to Onel5969 who ends the year as one of our most prolific reviewers for the second consecutive year. Thanks also to Boleyn and JTtheOG who have been in the top 5 for the last two years as well.

A recent Request for Comment on creating a new redirect autopatrol pseduo-permission was closed early. Source Guide Discussion

Set to launch early in the new year is our first New Page Patrol Source Guide discussion. These discussions are designed to solicit input on sources in places and topic areas that might otherwise be harder for reviewers to evaluate. The hope is that this will allow us to improve the accuracy of our patrols for articles using these sources (and/or give us places to perform a WP:BEFORE prior to nominating for deletion). This month's refresher course

While New Page Reviewers are an experienced set of editors, we all benefit from an occasional review. This month consider refreshing yourself on Wikipedia:Notability (geographic features). Also consider how we can take the time for quality in this area. For instance, sources to verify human settlements, which are presumed notable, can often be found in seconds. I glanced at the article and sources and decided I really didn't want to touch the article further. Like many of the music bios I run across cleaning up these sources, the article looks like too much SOAP, but not so blatant that I felt it would be appropriate to stub it without spending much more time researching her first.

Help me!

I am asking this question here because I cannot figure out the term for what I am looking for in the Help page (and I'm sure it's quite simple). The term is probably "edit tabs" or something similar. Anyway, I use some .js scripts for valid purposes but they have planted many edit tabs on my page that I never use. This is in the area where everyone sees the tabs for article, talk, edit this page, move, watch, etc. I happen to have a bunch more that I never use such as rpp and unlink and they are cluttered and a bit of a nuisance. Is it possible to manually remove the tabs that I never use?
