AfD closure for Jaynez article

Hello Doomsdayer! I noticed that you closed the AfD discussion for the article Jaynez, thank you for doing so. However the AfD template is still on the article (and there isn't a record of the discussion on the article talk page.) I'm not sure if a bot comes along to finish out the closing, or if it wasn't yet completed (or an admin has to do that bit.) I'd try to do it myself, but because I was part of the discussion that's probably not a good idea. Cheers, Netherzone (talk) 14:43, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

Please disregard this, QuietHere has taken care of it. Netherzone (talk) 15:34, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your contributions to the encyclopedia. When it comes to this article, I don't believe that "video game" is sufficient disambiguation. Willow (arcade game) also exists, and arcade games are video games. Both were released in 1989, so disambiguation by year doesn't work. My recent bold move was to Willow (NES video game) which I believe is both concise and unambiguous - but I'd like to hear your thoughts as well. 162 etc. (talk) 16:37, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

@162 etc.: - Hello, my thought process was merely focused on article titles. With NES being one manufacturer/platform of video games, I don't think it's necessary to put their company name in the article title unless there is a different Willow video game from a competitor, such as "Willow (Xbox game)" in which case more disambiguation would be needed. It was also my impression that Wikipedia uses "arcade game" for the classic old cabinets that you could play at the mall with quarters, and "video game" for the home version. I could be wrong about that one. No objections if you or anyone else wants to move things back. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 13:51, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
I've moved it, per WP:NCDAB. 162 etc. (talk) 16:37, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

As you have moved the dab page to the base title, please now follow up by fixing the links for the bridge player which now go to the dab page. Thanks. PamD 16:46, 19 July 2023 (UTC)

@PamD: - With one exception, it's all old talk page messages. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 23:44, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
It wasn't, or I'd have fixed the one exception. Someone else must have cleaned up since I posted. PamD 05:35, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

Captions are required for all tables

To add on what I said in my edit summary, MOS:TABLECAPTION is part of WP:ACCESSIBILITY, so it's part of Wikimedia policy now. The RfC I was referring to is located here and happened in April 2020. It was raised that such captions may be redundant, and still determined the benefit to visually impaired readers outweighs such concerns. They should be present for all tables and should be added where absent, not removed. Ss112 15:12, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

Better source request for File:EgorKreed Holostyak.jpg

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete or generic. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact source (such as the web page, or printed document) where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain, search engine, pinboard, aggregator, or the direct/bare URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. — Ирука13 21:27, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks for your edits on Intrigue and your comment on the deletion discussion. Is there any way you could add the heavy yoik (or joik, whichever spelling you want to use) back in as a genre in the infobox? The band is particularly known for being one of the few bands in the world that plays that genre, so I think it should be included. I'll be editing the article more in late September once I have more free time and a better net connection once again. Ollu giitu! - Yupik (talk) 22:03, 11 August 2023 (UTC)

@Yupik: - Sorry for the delay in this response. I removed Heavy Yoik because it is not a substantiated (or "notable" in Wikipedia terms) genre that is discussed in the music media. The Wikidata page that you linked above has no definition. Therefore I concluded that it's a term that Intrigue and maybe some other bands use to describe themselves. You are free to disagree, but I think the term is inappropriate for the infobox but it could be mentioned in the article's text. In fact, I think Folk metal would be a fitting descriptor for this band. Just my opinion. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 12:29, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
No worries, I am usually really slow at answering (months slow :D); you answered quickly. I don't edit music items enough on enwp to know what goes in them and doesn't, so I appreciate the explanation. (I'll have to fill out the wd item one of these days.) It's a niche of a niche genre, so folk metal would be fine. - Yupik (talk) 12:36, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

dob

Hey, Doomsdayer, I just removed the full dob from Baby Tate (rapper), which you included based on this source. It was over four years ago that you created the article with that, but I always like to make sure editors know we don't include full dobs in blps unless it's been widely published in RS. Valereee (talk) 11:20, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

I copy-paste moved the talk page content to Talk:La Quintrala, but that may not be the right approach, since it is a bit of a copy-paste move. — BarrelProof (talk) 23:50, 23 October 2023 (UTC)

@BarrelProof: - Per the usual process, the green box denoted the Requested Move actually stays back at the original talk page, pretty much because that page is now defunct and redirected. I restored that, but there's no harm in copying it to the current talk page. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:13, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
I don't think that's correct. I don't recall ever seeing an RM discussion record left on a redirect page. Now that I look at it, I notice it was also a WP:RMTR request. As far as I know, successful WP:RMTRs don't generally result in a "green box" record at all; they are ordinarily recorded only in the edit history of WP:RMTR and the edit summary used by the mover. — BarrelProof (talk) 14:34, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
@BarrelProof: - Well, I don't have any control over that. Perhaps worth discussing at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 16:32, 25 October 2023 (UTC)

Invitation

Hello Doomsdayer520, we need experienced volunteers.
  • New Page Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles. We could use a few extra hands on deck if you think you can help.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; Wikipedia needs experienced users to perform this task and there are precious few with the appropriate skills. Even a couple reviews a day can make a huge difference.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision (if it looks daunting, don't worry, it basically boils down to checking CSD, notability, and title). If this looks like something that you can do, please consider joining us.
  • If you would like to join the project and help out, please see the granting conditions. You can apply for the user-right HERE.
  • If you have questions, please feel free to drop a message at the reviewer's discussion board.
  • Cheers, and hope to see you around.

Humboldt Prize vs Humboldt research award

You merged these two pages. This is incorrect. See German Wikipedia: Humboldt prize is Humboldt-Forschungspreis, while Humboldt research award is Humboldt-Forschungsstipendium. The first is awarded to much fewer people than the second. The old English page on Humboldt Prize contained the list of recipients, and it was similar to the German page. The Research award (Humboldt-Forschungsstipendium) is awarded to much more people. I recommend to restore the old page on Humboldt Prize. Pym1507 (talk) 15:25, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

@Pym1507: That was not a merge, it was simply a change in the page title (known here as a "move") that was requested by someone else at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests. I only completed a technical task on behalf of someone who made an argument opposite to yours. If the two awards are different, you can simply remove "also known informally as the Humboldt Prize" from the current article and then consider developing a new article for the Humboldt Prize or restoring text from the old one. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 15:39, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
