Do you remember anything about the copyright of that specific image? Its currently on dr at commons - see commons:Commons:Deletion_requests/Image:Trophy.jpg, and I was hoping you might remember something about its source. Bawolff 22:06, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Yes - it was actually a press release snapshot photograph from an NIH function. It appears that NIH has deleted the source ohot from its site. The award was part of an otherwise very busy picture, but the shot was head-on so I could cut out all the extraneous people, etc. To cover some of the jagged lines from the edit, I added a drop shadow - which look as if it has been badly cropped by some other Wiki editor. - Davodd 16:06, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
(Sorry to pop in, I have your talk on watchlist from a previous message I left you) Do you by chance remember the source page? Not necessarily the exact URL, which would be impractical, but perhaps whether the image was on a press release or some other type of page, and any other details like the date (or year) of the NIH function? Thanks, Iamunknown 17:26, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
I do know the original URL: http://www.nidcr.nih.gov/NR/rdonlyres/F52F097F-B37C-4B74-80FB-8321BDA72953/0/student2.jpg - the "NR" behind ".gov/" is for news releases. But it appears they redesigned the site when they added RSS fees a few months ago. I do not remember the year, but it was more than 2 years ago. Once that happened, the obvious nature of its "public domain"-ness disappeared and then it was nominated for deletion. - Davodd 20:40, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:MainPage-Avant-Davodd.png

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:MainPage-Avant-Davodd.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:43, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

I dont' care, personally - the screen cap was requested to be uploaded years ago to show what the then-new Wikipedia front page looked like on different browsers. Although it does seem to have some significance as a historical record for this project. - Davodd 22:25, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

July 2007 GAC backlog elimination drive

A new elimination drive of the backlog at Wikipedia:Good article candidates will take place from the month of July through August 12, 2007. There are currently about 130 articles that need to be reviewed right now. If you are interested in helping with the drive, then please visit Wikipedia:Good article candidates backlog elimination drive and record the articles that you have reviewed. Awards will be given based on the number of reviews completed. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the drive's talk page. Please help to eradicate the backlog to cut down on the waiting time for articles to be reviewed.

You have received this message either due to your membership with WikiProject: Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. --Nehrams2020 23:17, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Gay icon

Hi, Davodd!

I'm considering putting Gay icon up for peer review and possible GA status. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it? I've just gone through it and done some cleanup work and think that everything except the criticism section is looking pretty good. Criticism needs some more content, though. Any other thoughts? Thanks! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 17:35, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Well, it couldn't hurt - and the page has gotten much better than it was when it started. Even if it doesn't pass, you will get good critical observations from a fresh perspective. I think the biggest struggle you are going to have is with In entertainment since neither GA nor Peer Review like long lists due to their poor prose. They will suggest that it be re-written in paragraph form. I have the scars of former GA and Peer Review efforts myself to know that one. ;-) - Davodd 21:49, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

A Question Regarding Turquoise

Hi Davodd, I hope you don't mind the intrusion to your talk page, but I had a question I couldn't find an answer to, and tracked you down as member #1 of the LGBT group, so I figured you might be the guy to ask!

I have noticed a lot of openly gay men (and women I think?) wearing turquoise jewelery (mainly rings). I was curious if there was some sort of a political/social reason for this? Or, is it simply a way of identifying oneself as gay so that others feel free to open up to you? Or, is it simply a fashion thing, and has caught on in the community?

I did some research to see if I could link it to the flag or something, but no luck there.

Any info would be appreciated - curiousity has got me! SnaX 20:58, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Houston_Voice_12-23-2005.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Houston_Voice_12-23-2005.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. A question about censorship

I have become concerned about the whitewashing of certain articles, cases where all references to sexuality are removed, even if sourced. I've been seeing it for years, but have been dealing with it specifically at Little Richard in the last month or so. When I first came to the article, there was not a single reference in its text to the singer's notoriously conflicted sexuality. Here was a world-famous personality who has referred to himself as "homosexual" on various occasions, chronicled his struggles with his sexuality in his autobiography, swung dramatically back and forth over the years, with profound effects on his life and career...and all mentions of the subject had been scrubbed, even when sources had been provided. I angrily protested this on the talk page (admittedly violating WP:AGF in the process) and added a small note about LR's conflicted sexuality, with a source that quotes the man's own autobiography. Soon after, the source was removed without explanation. I re-added it. Not long after that, the sentence and source were both removed, by yet another party. I re-added again, leaving a polite note on the offending IP's talk page.

What's frustrating is that no one else editing the page seems interested in preventing this constant amateur censorship, and would prefer to simply leave this contentious subject out of the article because they don't want the trouble. This sort of whitewashing is common, especially for figures from communities which reject homosexuality. Is there any organized effort to combat it? It seems like something on those lines is needed, because there is a strong and irrational pressure to keep certain unwanted realities out of certain articles, and Wikipedia's tight sourcing policies are making it ever more easy for an article to become blatantly false and dishonest through pure omission.

More generally, I am also amazed at the way that would-be censors cynically take advantage of WP's sourcing policies (and constant sourcing crusades) to keep unwanted facts out of articles. 65.190.89.154 (talk) 01:40, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Wipblogo.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Wipblogo.gif.

Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 03:17, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Template:United Soccer Conference requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Fair use rationale for Image:Jim_Henson_Creature_Shop_logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Jim_Henson_Creature_Shop_logo.jpg.

If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 03:38, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Image:IPFW_Logo.gif

I have tagged Image:IPFW_Logo.gif as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 19:41, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Jill_Long.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Jill_Long.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:29, 10 March 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 17:29, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Sfseal.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Sfseal.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. WikiProject Good Articles Newsletter

Sorry about the delay. AWB has been having a few issues lately. Here is the august issue of the WikiProject Good Articles Newsletter! Dr. Cash (talk) 20:30, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Re: Move from "Male Prostitution" to "Gigolo"

As I've noted at Talk:Gigolo, I don't support the move you did this morning. I understand your reasoning that the original title was "sexist", but you chose a specifically heterosexual term (I listed five citations). I believe the considerable male-male interaction warrants a more neutral term, if any such move is necessary (and I'm not convinced that it is). HalJor (talk) 19:34, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Then perhaps we should make it an article on Street hustler, since that is the gist of the current article. - Davodd (talk) 19:39, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
But it's not the gist of the article. There's an entire section on Venues: streets, bars, print, online, bathhouses, and brothels. And to make things more complex, each venue seems to have its own term for the prostitute. If there's no generic alternative, the original title "male prostitution" is most appropriate. HalJor (talk) 20:05, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Not to butt in on your discussion, but I have to agree with Haljor on this. The goal is to have a neutral article title, not a pejorative one. Gigolo is a heavily laden term and not appropriate for same-sex usage. And the article is not just about street hustlers. "Male prostitution" was, despite any perceived sexism, the best overall term.- NYArtsnWords (talk) 20:13, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
I think a good compromise would be, Prostitution of males since it is parallel with an existing name structure, i.e. Prostitution of children and in structure is not sexist in naming scheme. - Davodd (talk) 21:37, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
I also think that Wikipedia:Requested moves should have been required in this case. I strongly believe that the page should be moved back for now and that a "request move" be added to address your issues. - NYArtsnWords (talk) 20:18, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Requested moves is an optional use page created for non-administrators who need help in moving an article that cannot be moved without deleting a page (so, by definition it does not apply to me as I have been an admin for years). Also, you propose changing an optional venue into a mandatory one - which is unneeded bureaucracy (see Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Wikipedia is not a bureaucracy) that is both anti-wiki and unneeded. (for further information on this, see WP:CREEP). - Davodd (talk) 21:37, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Mitch Ratcliffe

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mitch Ratcliffe, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.  Sandstein  21:14, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

  • Hello, I'm moving this conversation to the article's talk page. First, may I suggest you do a Google search on someone before you propose deletion for a "notability" concept that isn't official WP policy. It's not policy because some segments of the population are usually not "covered or reported on" much by "reliable sources" - because in the case of established journalists - like Mitch - they ARE the writers who work for the reliable sources. May I suggest it would probably have taken you less time to find the notability yourself on Google than to initiate the process of deleting stub articles wholesale by tagging and notifying folks by editing WP pages. It may be more productive to start improving and expanding WP stubs than just outright deleting them. As an administrator of WP, I'm sure you support this concept that is a foundation of the project. To help you out in improving this article, may I suggest the following examples of his notability: Microsoft,Amazon.com,ZDNet Audible, CNet, PBS, Executive Travel (magazine), BusinessWeek, IEEE, Red Herring, NYU, New York Times, BizJournals.com, Salon, TIME, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, State of Arkansas -- Davodd (talk) 23:34, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Genre-Magazine-Cover-12-2005.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Genre-Magazine-Cover-12-2005.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Just to let you know that I recently copied the above image that you uploaded to Wikipedia over to WikiMedia Commons, the Wikimedia central media repository for all free media. The image had been tagged with the {{Copy to Wikimedia Commons}} template. Your image is now available to all Wikimedia projects at the following location: Commons:File:523px-Whitley County Indiana Incorporated and Unincorporated areas Tri-Lakes Highlighted.png. The original version of the image uploaded to Wikipedia has been tagged with WP:CSD#I8. Cheers! --Captain-tucker (talk) 02:22, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Sci-fi logo 1999-2003.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Sci-fi logo 1999-2003.jpg.

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:04, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

March edit to Gay anthem

This edit (diff) to the article Gay anthem was unproductive and, frankly, rude. It was essentially a blanket revert of many different kinds of edits over a period of weeks or months. I understand that you were restoring the lists of artists and songs to match the referenced source material, but your edit also had the effect of removing many good faith and worthwhile changes with very little justification or explanation. I think it is unrealistic to expect the Themes section to remain static--to remain faithful, that is, to that single source--without a much stronger indication in the article that every item in the section is from that source, and without closer day-to-day policing and cleanup. But in any case, the next time the section needs cleaning up, please be selective, and fix only what actually needs fixing.--ShelfSkewed Talk 16:48, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

I just want to take the time to thank you for taking such a strong interest in the quality of LGBT articles on WP. In the case of Gay anthem - I do believe I followed the correct policies of No Original Research and Verification when I moved questionable content to the article's discussion page for further discussion and verification rather than have un-verified and unreliable original research content presented within a Wikipedia article. I do appreciate the hard work folks put into an article - but if it is original research with no verifiable secondary source to back it up, then its inclusion on a live Wikipedia page is against the WP:NOR mandate - even if it was done in good faith. Original research is simply not allowed in this project. Perhaps via discussion on the talk board, contributors can work in concert to find a source along with additional song titles *before* they are added to the live article? I am aware that you found the manner I dealt with this to be unacceptable. Please, if you have suggestions on how I can better handle this type of issue in the future - particularly regarding the issue of original research - in a way that you would think more appropriate to the situation, I am always open to suggestions on how to work better with others. Along those lines, I have a note that may help you better get along with others: when you are trying to correct behavior you disagree with, it usually is not the best policy to insult someone by calling them "rude" on their talk page. Please refer to Wikipedia:Etiquette - How to avoid abuse of talk pages. Not everybody is as understanding or easy-going as I am. Again, thank you for sharing a passion I've had since 2003 to help ensure higher-quality LGBT articles on WP. I do hope this message was taken with the earnest spirit in which it was written. - Davodd (talk) 02:48, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
My problem with your edit was not the removal of the items you consider original research. My problem, as I said, is that your edit was not selective; it removed, in addition to the OR material, formatting changes and link additions and fixes. I've already given you my suggestions, but I'll lay them out: 1) Make it clearer that all of the artists and songs listed in the section are supported by the reference, and that additions and changes must also be sourced. Many casual or one-time editors don't think about that. They see a list and say, "I know something that belongs here," or "I think I have a better example." Making it clearer that all of the given examples are sourced would reduce maintenance. 2) Remove unacceptable changes regularly; don't wait for them to build up and try to deal with them all at once. 3) But even if you don't have the time to keep up with regular maintenance, you are still obligated to be selective when cleanup is necessary, and fix only what actually needs fixing. I do apologize for the use of the term rude--I could have made my point without it.--ShelfSkewed Talk 04:13, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Allow me to say...Very nice work reorganizing and referencing the article. All I did was crab; you followed through in a big way. Kudos. Do you think the article would benefit from a couple images? I did some legwork, and all the articles for the artists in the "big-voiced divas" section have public-domain, Wikimedia Commons, or Creative Commons-licensed images, as do Dusty Springfield, Village People and several others. I thought the Dusty Springfield image, Celine Dion image, and Christina Aguilera image were perhaps the best of the lot, but I leave it to you to include them or not. Cheers.--ShelfSkewed Talk 21:33, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
No problem. A passion for excellence is often accompanied by a short temper. I'm used to it and look for the reason behind the words instead of the words themself. I think Further work by me will have to be on hold for the next two weeks - I have law school finals starting Monday (tomorrow) night. My burst of activity this past weekend was during a time my head was about to explode from studying Constitutional Law and Evidence exceptions. - Davodd (talk) 06:14, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

GA Sweeps invitation

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am sending you this message since you are a member of the GA WikiProject. I would like to invite you to consider helping with the GA sweeps process. Sweeps helps to ensure that the oldest GAs still meet the criteria, and improve the quality of GAs overall. Unfortunately, last month only two articles were reviewed. This is definitely a low point after our peak at the beginning of the process when 163 articles were reviewed in September 2007. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. All exempt and previously reviewed articles have already been removed from the list. Instead of reviewing by topic, you can consider picking and choosing whichever articles interest you.

We are always looking for new members to assist with the remaining articles, so if you are interested or know of anybody that can assist, please visit the GA sweeps page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. If only 14 editors achieve this feat starting now, we would be done with Sweeps! Of course, having more people reviewing less articles would be better for all involved, so please consider asking others to help out. Feel free to stop by and only review a few articles, something's better than nothing! Take a look at the list, and see what articles interest you. Let's work to complete Sweeps so that efforts can be fully focused on the backlog at GAN. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! I need your help to write a thesis.

Dear Davodd,

I am a student in Seoul National University in South Korea doing a research project on Wikipedia. I am very impressed about your insight and active contributions. I thought you could provide some opinions really worthwhile. So, would it be possible for you to take some time off and give an online interview via E-mail? It would provide my project a lively voice of an actual administrator. And this will be of a great meaning; your experience, concerns, opinions and ideas would add a lot to my project. Actually I'm in real need of something concrete; for my project is about the mechanism a biased version of explanation is settled, and as you will probably guess, understanding such things involves a lot more than just watching explicit process. Again, I would really, really appreciate your help.

It will not take that long; in fact everything will depend completely upon your will. If you are willing to give some help, would you mind mailing me swiftly? Thanks a lot. I also leave this message to other administrators' user talk for my research. Please don't be upset about that.

Your User page

It seems like a bad idea to put so much personal info on your user page, after about 2 minutes of looking I found your phone number 408-382-1459.

You are giving away your full name, address, and exact date of birth, with a short google search anyone could find your social security number. Armed with those four things an impostor can become you very convincingly.

You seem like a responsible guy, I found you from talk:Nordyke v. King, and I don't want you to get screwed with.

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Poeny-botanical-drawing.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:42, 11 July 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 23:42, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Camile Velasco

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Camile Velasco. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Camile Velasco. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:53, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

WP:Hornbook -- a new WP:Law task force for the J.D. curriculum

Hi Davodd/Archive 12,

I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".

Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.

  • Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
  • It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
  • Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
  • I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.

What you can do now:

1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
2. If you're a law student,
(You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Davodd! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 940 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive

WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of April. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 200. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. Hope we can see you in April.
