Votes for Women edit-a-thon with Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery

Smithsonian BecauseOfHerStory National Portrait Gallery edit-a-thon on 2019-04-05
National Portrait Gallery
Wikipedia is an openly editable resource, meaning that you can improve the quality and accuracy of Wikipedia entries. As one of the web’s most visited reference sites, Wikipedia serves as a starting point for many individuals looking to learn about art, history, and science.
During this training, attendees of all experience levels will learn the basics of how to edit Wikipedia by updating articles related to the history of women's suffrage in the United States in connection with the Votes for Women: A Portrait of Persistence exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery. Votes for Women examines the women and organizations often overlooked in the American women’s suffrage movement and there will be resources on hand to add as citations.
This is the first edit-a-thon in a series planned in conjunction with the Smithsonian American Women's Initiative, a multiyear undertaking to document, research, collect, display, and share the history of women in the United States.
