Recent MfD nominations
Hey Whpq, I have noticed that you've been quite active over at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion, especially with nominating resumé-style user pages. I wanted to make you aware that several of these nominations qualify for deletion per CSD G11 as they only serve to promote someone (and violate Wikipedia:NOTLINKEDIN). Tagging such pages as G11 would eliminate the need to take uncontroversially self-promotional material to MfD, thus saving an extra step and some time. Seeking some guidance
Hi there--I work for the Children's Tumor Foundation; I am new here at the Foundation. I was recently asked by someone in communications what happened to the Wikipedia entry. I took a look at the history and it seems that, for good reason (ie: almost direct plagiarism from one of our annual reports) you simplified the entry. The entry as it stands is incomplete and somewhat incorrect, a situation I would like to figure out how to remedy. I have looked at over fifty different entries regarding non-profits and have a good idea how to begin; what I don't know is how to begin to actually get the correct information up there given my COI. What should I do? I have gathered a high number of articles from scientific journals and other publications that verify the significance and scope of the organization; I think we do garner an entry that moves beyond a stub. Hey there. I understand that the profile that was once User:RapLists4Me was full of all fictional information. I created that page almost six years ago when I was much younger and had a very creative mind and a list of fictional rappers who I created to run a fictional world. Now I know it all sounds very bizarre, and it is true. I was just curious if I could retain the information personally just for nostalgic purposes? If this could happen, please let me know I highly appreciate it. Thank you.
Also, if not could you un-delete the page and allow me to save all of the information for a 24 hour period (I'll settle for less, 24 hours seems like a good time period assuming this message may take that amount of time to be responded and read by both parties)

- As I stated in the edit summary when I removed the material, it is because the material is a copyright violation, as it is copied from a copyrighted web site without the appropriate permission. U-Seff Qasrawi Deletion

- You may wish to contact Jonathanarpith (talk) who tagged the article for deletion, or Peridon (talk) who was the administrator who carried out the deletion. If you look at U-Seff Qasrawi, there is a highlighted box listing the deletions, and reasons for deletion. The latest lists WP:G11 which means the article was promotional, and it lists WP:A7 which means there was no assertiona as to why the subject is WP:NOTABLE. Thank you for your message. Now I understand what is required and why the article was not accepted, sorry for taking so long, I was just struggling with the rules.
Ok, I have now removed the direct links to the Drifting Sun website and any link that isn't from independent sources, thus have left only articles and reviews about the band from magazines etc. I will also edit the info to keep it 100% unbiased.
My first 2 albums were initially copyright by SACEM (France), which is where I am from originally, and I have recently protected my entire catalogue with Copyright House (through digital copyright) earlier this year. Regarding the SACEM protection, I can only show you prints of the certificates for the songs, as they are only viewable online by me when I log in to my access area and they don't point to a specific link that can be opened by anyone else (although I can provide you with the catalogue numbers related to the songs). With the more recent Copyright House protection, I do have specific URLs pointing to each song, showing both my real name and my artist name, along with the name of the band, the song title, the registration ID and date, and the security code. Would you like me to paste some URLs relating to a few songs from each album?

Vergi Rodriguez Deletion
Hello.. I saw your post about "notability" for deleting Vergi Rodriguez... There are various "sources" online and if these were not referenced accordingly then please let us know how they should be corrected. Some of the references which are from IMDB is the main "notable source" from the Production and Film companies. That is the main hub that the entertainment (Film, TV and Internet media) uses to give talent and crew their valid credits. (Planetv (talk) 20:17, 25 May 2015 (UTC))

I found the IMDB page on Wikipedia {http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Movie_Database} and see all across Wikipedia that IMDB is referenced for even some of the most established Actors, Directors, Performers in the Entertainment industry worldwide. For example, for Steven Spielberg, not only did Wikipedia allow a "blog" to be used as a reference for reference #88 [ http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/steven-spielberg-indefinitely-postpones-robopocalypse-with-chris-hemsworth-anne-hathaway-20130109] but also #108 [ http://www.deadline.com/2014/03/fox-revives-west-side-story-for-steven-spielberg-as-town-ponders-stacey-snider-move-and-dreamworks-future/] Both of those references are considered "blogs." Also, Rotten Tomatoes was used as a "reputable source" when according to your reason for deletion "MDB, blogs, etc. are not considered a reliable source by Wikipedia. What is expected is significant coverage in things like magazines and newspapers." would say that on Wikipedia that could not be used. [2]
Tons of celebrities also reference blogs, online sources, etc..A few examples.

The definition of "reliable source" even Wikipedia refers to the term "published as most commonly associated with text materials, either in traditional printed format or online." Also, as any media that was actually distributed via audio, video or multimedia. So in reference to the "Hot Chick" credit since it was released as a "film" that in itself can be considered as "meeting the criteria as a reliable source." - I provided some basic guidance on the type of sources that would be needed meet inclusion criteria on Wikipedia. Sources are used to both verify facts, and establish that inclusion criteria are met. The type of sources I have pointed out are the ones you need to focus on. As for the other articles, Wikipedia has a massive number of articles which are always being editted by anybody who chooses to edit so the state of other articles, and the fact that they may have issues with sources has no bearing on the article you created. The discussion on whether the article should be kept is at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vergi Rodriguez. Fair Use Rationale - Donnie Yen
Hi there. I see that you have removed the fair use image of Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen poster from Donnie Yen's page. I just wanted to use it to illustrate Donnie Yen's fighting ability, I can add that it is a movie poster in the caption. Is it possible?
Why is it not considered fair use if used under his martial arts philosophy and history section?

- Reply - Per Wikipedia:Non-free content, a seaparate and specific non-free rationale must be provided for each use of a non-free image. File:Legend of the Fist- The Return of Chen Zhen poster.jpg has only a rationale for its use in the film article. - You will need to explain how the use of the image in the article falls within Wikipedia's Wikipedia:Non-free content guidelines. In particlar, review the section on images including acceptable uses, and unacceptable uses. I believe the image falls squarely unto the unnacceptable usage criterion 1. In [Taheri's page] there is a lot missing. The main missing point is that he has been in arrest from 5 years ago. I would like to updated his bio and picture. His picture is shown by the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran which imprisoned him and sentenced him to death, and I can provide the page with a picture of him without the flag. but believe it is useful to create a better, more informative article, it is not essential, but helpful.
after being notified i have expanded my research on the image and tried to get permission, i was not able to do so, the image is available in numerous other website (almost explosively Arabic), none provided any information regarding original publisher or permissions.
The Image is used to provide information regarding the era and the stage of events (location) during the period of article subject life, it is used to establish a historical timeline of events in the article subject life.
In the Image: Khalida Saeed (Arabic wikipedia خالده سعيد) known literary figure, the picture is used as a mean of visual identification
please replay if you believe the picture still needs to be deleted.

I can upload different images that would be less controversial regarding copyright. Should I do these as a 'new' file, or can I just upload new versions of the file that won't have any contestable contents? - I don't know what you mean by "less controversial regarding copyright". If it's not your photo, then you shouldn't be claiming to be the copyright holder as the license for those images stated. If you upload new versions, they must be your photos or photos from a source which has licensed them under an appropriate free content licens, and not simply photos from some other website. -- Whpq (talk) 22:03, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

- All of the previous images are copyright violations. Uploading under the same name means that the previous version of the image is still a copyright violation. They need to be deleted first. As i explained, i understand your opinion regarding the picture being not significant to understand the subject, i believe very little pictures actually qualify to meet that description (:vital to understand the subject), you can fairly understand most subjects with out any pictures, still pictures are used to aid that process.
As an example, T. S. Eliot page uses many pictures, other then the personal picture, which you think is vital to understand the subject ?

Question about 'speedy deletion' issue
Hi again Whpq, I'm wondering how I can go about meeting the copyright requirement of Wikipedia concerning the jpg. image I used from Modern Drummer's website for Yogi Horton. Can I contact Modern Drummer and ask for permission to have the image on the Horton page? I'm curious, because the Modern Drummer tribute page that I used as a source itself doesn't appear to have its own citation of where the picture originally came from. So would this possibly be a case of 'fair use'? - ASs Horton is deceased, you could make a case for use of the image under Wikipedia's non-free content guidelines. You will need to add a fair use rationale to justify its use.
