I first registered this account - my first - April 20, 2007. Since then, I've gotten involved pretty deeply in AfD work. I see it as a chance to triage articles that are flawed, but may yet have potential. If you need access to a Wikipedia article that has been deleted, ask me. If it's not a copyright violation, libel, or personal information, and has not been deleted as a suspected biographies of living persons violation, I will userfy the article for you.

Note that using the text to recreate any deleted article may automatically qualify them for speedy deletion, and copies of previously deleted content that are being used solely for long-term archival purposes may be subject to deletion because Wikipedia is not a free web host. We have a list of alternative sites which may be used to host your content.

I maintain a sock account AVPW primarily for use on public networks. In the event of a compromised account, I specifically request any administrator to honor a request from AVPW to block this account, and absolve you in advance of any repercussions.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Hi, I would like to request for this article to be protected for a month, since multiple geotagged users have been vandalising this article for the last three to four weeks. I have reverted all the disruptive edits and have even warned the users to stop the vandalising but to no avail, with the latest vandalising happening earlier today, which I also had to revert. That's why I felt like the only option left was to request a temporary protection of one month. Nori2001 (talk) 13:04, 11 May 2024 (UTC)

List of oldest continuously inhabited cities[edit]

Reason: In general, this page suffers from frequent additions that violate WP:OR (including improper editorial synthesis), due to a misunderstanding of the article's topic; this is mostly done by IPs and new users. However, there is a persistent IP (actually, a range) that has been trying to add original research since the middle of February; this also includes the removal of inline cleanup tags (such as {{request quotation}} and {{page needed}}) and their refusal to engage in the talk page. This is clearly disruptive behavior; in my opinion, it can be handled by either applying semi-protection, or a range block (I can share relevant diffs for that), or even both. Current requests for reduction in protection level[edit]

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Draft:Afarin Kids TV[edit]

Declined – Actually, the draft isn't protected, but Afarin Kids TV is. Considering the previous, failed attempts at creating this article, you need to get the draft approved through the articles for creation process. Once it's approved, it will be moved to article space. Favonian (talk) 13:39, 11 May 2024 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page[edit]

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    User:Princess of Ara[edit]

I recently noticed this user, Princess of Ara. An editor who works mainly on Nigerian related articles and others. While trying to appreciate the user's effort, I got in love with the lovely articles, well sources, written from a volunteer in good faith and now, I am requesting that she be granted the auto patrol user right. It'll also help reduce heavy backlog of NPP. Thanks for your consideration! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 08:05, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

    User:Prince of Erebor[edit]

I have created 76 articles, primarily focused on Sinophone cinema and fantasy literature, with 2 currently undergoing GAN. All of my articles have been promptly reviewed, and none of them have been deleted or marked for maintenance. I am requesting autopatrolled rights to alleviate the workload of the patrollers, especially those who actively review film articles and have reviewed the majority of my articles, allowing them to allocate more time to address articles that truly require attention. As a side note, I am a veteran editor with patroller rights on Chinese Wikipedia, having authored over 200 articles, including a dozen featured and good articles. While I fully understand that there are differences in policies and MOS across different Wikipedias, I believe this demonstrates my credibility and knowledge in assessing article quality.— Prince of EreborThe Book of Mazarbul 13:18, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

    User:SheriffIsInTown[edit]

I frequently create articles on notable subjects, having authored 530 articles, with the majority facing no issues. Only three were deleted, mainly due to changes in election results affecting their notability. I'm requesting autopatroller rights to ease the burden on other editors reviewing my articles and help reduce the backlog of new article reviews. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 23:36, 4 May 2024 (UTC)

    User:Xoak[edit]

I'm an AFC reviewer, ardent contributor to Women In Red (most of my articles are on women) and biological topics. Xtools shows I have 57 live articles, however as far as I can recall, I've created at least 2 articles from redirects. [note that out of the 4 deleted articles, 3 were self delete]. I've 5 passed DYKs and 1 GA so far. I hate stubs and do everything on my part to at least create a C or a bare minimum Start.

It'll be nice to have this right, as it'd reduce the backlog. One self-criticism I'd do here is at times I do not categorize pages myself and leave it for others. But I try to categorize some of the time, and I'll make sure I do not leave any pages I create from here on uncategorized. I've had a few warnings about copyvio, though they were a case of WP:LIMITED and once a case of accidental copy-paste. Nonetheless, I've been very careful ever since and will be perpetually.

I'm courtesy pinging administrator @Ipigott as they're somewhat familiar with my work, and we had some delightful interactions.

It's okay if you feel I should not be given this right as yet. Regards. X (talk) 20:29, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

Not done I've had a look and you aren't too far off. Apart from categorisation, the other obvious flaw is not defining DEFAULTSORT (please look up why that's important or what it is). I've taken your very latest article and made it "perfect" from a Manual of Style perspective, all in single steps so that you can see what else you could improve on. I hope that's useful. Please go back to your bios and define DEFAULTSORT where other editors haven't done that for you in the meantime. I'd say come back once you've written another half dozen articles, say, and I or someone else will have another look. If you have questions about any of those edits referred to above, please get in touch (via my talk page or an article's talk page; not here). Schwede66 23:48, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

    Pending changes reviewer[edit]

    User:Sunnyboi18[edit]

Hello, I'am applying again for Pending Changes Reviewer, as it was felt by a person who reviewed this that my request was "all over the place" and that "I didn't understand that PC rights are". I don't think that's fair.

I was simply just giving my experience and of having done 632 edits on Wiki involving mostly updating critical information, having been an Editor since Feburary 2021, and being familiar with Wiki Guidelines & Copyright and understanding the importance of making sure the info on Wiki is correct, and preventing Vandalism. And other requests saying that exact same stuff were approved, so not sure what to say but, I'am aware of the importance and privliege of this permission, and would like my request to be considered fairly, as it did not feel like that was the case the first time, based on the response that I got. Well, you're "honest impression" was more of a commentary on me personally rather than my experience and work I've done. So once again, it does not seem like this is being processed in a fair and unbiased manner. Especially when requests have been approved with very little language in them with regard to their background or experience, or with the same amount of/less edits as myself.      Not done. In reviewing your edit history, it doesn't look like you're actually active in anti vandalism efforts. For example, you've only undone an edit 3 times, and each of those times was undoing your own edit. You also only have 7 user talk page edits, all of which are to your own talk page. Typically for someone involved in anti vandalism we'd expect more undo actions and some warnings posted on other user's talk pages. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:23, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

    Rollback[edit]

    User:CGP05[edit]

Hello! I revert vandalism quite frequently and I would like rollback rights so I can use the AntiVandal tool to make the process faster. CGP05 (talk) 02:34, 7 May 2024 (UTC)

I see that you are failing to consistently warn editors when you revert their edits (e.g. 1, 2, 3). Why? Are you aware that we have tools such as Twinkle or Ultraviolet that make this extremely easy? -Fastily 06:05, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
Sorry about that. I try to warn the majority of editors that vandalize. I will ensure that I warn every time from now on. CGP05 (talk) 13:45, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
Please ensure that you are always leaving warnings. I can't stress enough the importance of not biting the newcomers; if you find yourself reverting good faith edits, then it's especially important to notify the editor. If you don't want to leave a template warning, that's completely fine, but you do need to leave a talk page message explaining why you reverted the edit. I note that again, you've failed to notify an editor post revert even after you promised to do so yesterday. Anyways, upon further review, I'm not seeing enough consistent counter-vandalism work to determine whether you'll be able to use the tool appropriately. I also see that you've made a total of zero reports to AIV, which is an important stop for any serious counter-vandalism patroller. Please review my feedback, and if you're still interested in the tool, then please spend at least a month actively patrolling before reapplying. As such, closing as  Not done -Fastily 06:01, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
Thank you a lot for the feedback and I will take it into account before reapplying. CGP05 (talk) 19:55, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

    User:Kingsmasher678[edit]

I would like to add another tool to my antivandalism toolbelt. I already use Twinkle and make a point to warn most if not vandals. This has resulted in a lower reoccurrence rate and helps the wiki. I will use the tool to assist in these efforts. Kingsmasher678 (talk) 16:13, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

Not done I noticed you started actively reverting vandalism about 2 weeks ago. While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I'd like to see you spend more time gaining experience fighting vandalism before assigning you advanced permissions. Keep up the good work, and consider reapplying in a month. Also, please ensure that you are consistently warning editors when you revert their edits (I recommend using tools such as Twinkle or Ultraviolet which makes this extremely easy). Thanks, Fastily 19:23, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
