Hey there is this new user User:hiphopchamp who undid my edit (of adding playable championships to the article as it is in the previous SvR articles like SvR, SvR 2006, SvR 2007). I left a note on his talk page but now I am unable to undo his undo of my edit. Can you help?TrUcO9311 23:33, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanx man! It took me a while to list the titles and screenshots.--TrUcO9311 23

Yeah, I can do that. This whole Jericho thing is becoming quite annoying. I have the article on my watchlist, I'll revert those edits if I see them. Gavyn Sykes 00:21, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Evanescence cleanup

Greetings! While most of the material you changed in the Evanescence article was fine, there is no current agreement regarding the retention or deletion of commas within dates, at least, none I can find (and none I've ever been aware of in the past). When the subject matter is of U.S. origin and primarily uses those formats, future editors may perceive the lack of commas as an error and try to re-add and re-subtract them over and over (yes, I've seen this), creating needless confusion. While the software renders wikidates equally regardless of commas, it has been noted several times that forks of the 'pedia may not follow the same rules or have the same capability we have, thus, U.S. articles (again, per MoS standards of regional spelling and formatting in articles) really should retain the comma. Yes, it is a small thing, but one I feel will prevent a degree of problems later on.

Also, if I may point out, closing linebreaks between section headers and text while at the same time making additional edits is extraordinarily difficult on editors trying to figure out what has changed. You might consider closing the breaks in one edit then making the fixes in a second, so everything remains clean and easy to review.

Yes, I know you've been around far longer than I and have far more edits, and I don't mean to sound pedantic, but I hope you'll consider what I'm saying. Do correct me if I've erred along the line. Cheers! -- Huntster T@C 07:02, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:WCW WW3.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:WCW WW3.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:53, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Radio Allergy.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Radio Allergy.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:24, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, you're probably right. After all, the original source was release in 2006. I've changed the source to the video. Thanks! Davnel03 07:46, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

I noticed your post on Starrcade At WP:PW. I have Eric Bischoff's book, so will be able to provide you with some sources from there. I say give it a shot. If you have any problems, you only need to ask me, and I'll be able to help! :) Davnel03 09:11, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Links

I'm pretty sure I provided a link to WP:REDIRECTS (incidentally a redirect) before, but I'm gonna copy and paste it here to make sure you see it.

"Some editors are tempted, upon finding links using a legitimate redirect target, to edit the page to remove the redirect and point the link directly at the target page. While there are a limited number of cases where this is beneficial, it is, in general, an unhelpful exercise... There should almost never be a reason to replace with redirect. This kind of change is almost never an improvement, and it can actually be detrimental."

I could understand why you would want to change Game Boy Colour to Game Boy Color if it was on the article-space as it is the correct name. However, this is user-space, and such trivialities aren't worth bothering about. Further, I don't particularly care if it is spelled differently on my userpage to how Nintendo spell it. Changing Game Boy Colour to Game Boy Colour is doubly useless as it doesn't even "correct" it for the reader. Game Boy Color is a valid redirect, and contrary to what you think, Wikipedia guidelines endorse the use of redirects. They do not need to be "fixed".

I have now asked you on more than one occasion to stop editing in this manner on my userpage. I kindly request that you respect my wishes, and cease to make pointless edits when I have pointed out to you several times that these edits do not need to be made. Lets both just get on with more important things. Hammer Raccoon 14:06, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

I am fixing it on this page, although it is annoying that Hammer Raccoon's page has two redirects (with his being the only page that links to the factually incorrect "Game Boy Colour". TJ Spyke 21:33, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

SvR 2008 (again)

What is it with people removing the championships, some guy said on the edit summary that it is not a proper list according to wikipedia, Check It Out. Why haven't I seen you on MSN lately? It’s been a while since the last time I saw you on. BTW could you keep an eye on The Invasion (professional wrestling)? I'm glad to know there is somebody out there that gets as annoyed as I do when people bring up outcomes in AfD discussions!! My usual copy and paste response to that is : "OUTCOMES should never become involved in AfD discussions. OUTCOMES does not contain recommendations nor suggestions. It contains unverified statistics, nothing more. Just because (according to OUTCOMES) high schools are typically kept, doesn't mean they should. It is a stupid list of statistics, and CCC." LOL.. Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Comparison of Wii Games, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Comparison of Wii Games is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Comparison of Wii Games, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Too late

It's too late, I've already had everything deleted. Plus, I no longer have time for Wikipedia, as I am running The Odyssey Online Wikia, but unfortunately, some loser from an old Wikia I was a member of and banned from, The RuneScape Wikia, is coming on my Wikia to harass me and claim I'm blocking anyone who opposes me, as a way to get me removed from Wikia itself. If this halfwit retard (located here) does get me removed somehow, then maybe I'll have all my pages restored. Tyler Warren (talk/contribs) 12:39, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Ok I went to Mr. Z-man and asked him to restore all my pages. I'm coming back. The wikia thing is kinda looking bleak for me, but I'm fighting back. I never back down from a fight. Tyler Warren (talk/contribs) 13:26, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

RE: WP Outreach

Wow. I didn't even notice that typo. Thank you for moving it for me! The Chronic 02:57, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

HI TJ, thanks for your work on this article. As I indicated in the edit summaries, there are some stylistic decisions that were made by the WP:Aircraft Project group that were established for sake of conformity. However, now that you spent some time on this article, other noticeable issues seemed to arise. You appear to be a knowledgeable editor; do you know how to reduce the size of the video window that appears in the article (and coincidentally, the topic of video windows is now the basis of some discussion in the project)? FWIW Bzuk 05:11, 2 November 2007 (UTC).

Hi TJ, the topic of dates came up awhile back and was thoroughly discussed before a decision was made to accommodate the foreign user that was originally confronted by 12/11/87 which could mean December 11, 1987 or 12 November, 1887 and argghh!! even changing to a written out date resulted in a disagreement over the format, before a consensus-driven solution eventually settled on the day/month/year. This dating standard is often thought to be British in origin but in reality, is not tied to a particular country's preference and is in fact the usual historian/researcher's format that is often characterized as the "formal" date convention. I have at least two publishers- one Canadian and one British that request this format in their style guides, whereas two of my other publishers insist on a more familiar (read "popular") date convention of month/day/year. Once the decision was made, editors in the Aircraft Project have utilized the chosen date convention. Other decisions about the stylistic considerations regarding spelling and type designations revolve, as you have said, around the topic and whether it was an American, French or other nation's aircraft.
As to the video question, if you could find an answer, it would be useful to reduce the size of the image that is placed in the article so it does not dominate or overwhelm the graphic layout of the article. FWIW, I enjoyed our conversation. Bzuk 05:53, 2 November 2007 (UTC).
Thanks TJ, that looks very nice; keep in touch. Bzuk 22:27, 2 November 2007 (UTC).

Re:TNA Genesis

Interesting. Since it's against WP:PW rules to include spoilers, we can't use next week's Impact spoilers as a source to remove Hall's name. My opinion is that Hall's name should stay, as right now, he is Sting's partner. Next week, they'll reveal that Nash was lying.

And I already have Survivor Series (2007) on my watchlist. Gavyn Sykes 14:32, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the message. Um, I don't know. All the edits seem to be directed into just putting Batista/Taker match in - no one has actually tried to unhide the SD! Spoiler text I inserted, have they? Seeing as there's only twelve hours to the show, I say keep it. I might do it next week, I might not. Depends whether the spoilers start off a storyline. We'll see. Anyway, after the opening segment has aired (meant to be announcing the HIAC), can you remove the text saying "Do not remove it" - that line, and remove the Hide tags, so that the opening paragraph can be shown. Don't do it until after the 1st segment though. Is that OK? Thanks, Davnel03 16:02, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Cyber Sunday 2007

Not really. Just because a match is the final match, does not mean its the main event. As ab exanokem, what if on Raw, Vince hypes that Orton will face a returning Jericho, for the WWE Championship in his first match on a week on Raw; and when the day comes, the first match of the night, is a Snitsky-jobber match; then a 6-man tag involving the IC Champion and the Tag Team Champsl; the third match is a women's championship match, the fourth is a DX handicap match against Umaga and the WGTT; and then the fifth match is the hyped main event. Yet, right after the match, in the last 10 minutes of the show, Vince announces he will face Hornswoggle, and then wins a comedic match.

  • What would you call the mian event?... It is obviously the WWE Championship match, not the Vince vs. Horny
    • Just because a match is the final one, doesn't mean it's the main one. And just because Jericho vs. Orton would be the 5th match instead of the last, doesn't mean it's not the main event. So, Orton vs. HBK on Cyber Sunday 2007 was indeed the main event, as it was the main feud leading up to the event with the most prestigious title on the line.

Lex94 Talk Contributions Signatures 01:15, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

      • A show can still have more than 1 main event, just like all PPVs have been having since Wrestlemania 23. Lex94 Talk Contributions Signatures 01:53, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Discussion on Wii

Welcome to Wikipedia, TJ Spyke! Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, we remind you not to attack other editors. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Calling other editors trolls is not what this discussion is for. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. 142.165.59.39 00:54, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Actually, carry on editing. After reading the exchange at Talk:Wii, the use of the term "troll" is within the guidelines of WP:SPADE. —C.Fred (talk) 01:01, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
The essay WP:SPADE is terrible advice; try WP:NOSPADE. See also User:ATren/Civility. -GTBacchus(talk) 01:12, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Which is actually the better point. Talk about the edit, not the editor. (And IMHO, if an editor is making edits that looks like trolling, calling them on it might just fan the flames.) The purpose of my comment here was to counterweight the warning and point out that it's not as out of line as the warning might make readers think. —C.Fred (talk) 01:25, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Yep, looks nice.

Colt Cabana

I was basing the double listed nick name off Chris Jericho's infobox as a common distinction is "Lionheart" Chris Jericho as compared to "Y2J" Chris Jericho. Although both are nicknames they each hold a different connotation to a certain part of Jericho's career and personality at that period. When people make reference to Lionheart, even though it was a nickname, it carries with it Jericho's pre-WWE identity. The same I think applies for CCC vs CBBC. –– Lid(Talk) 04:48, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Sometimes the nickname is an integral part of the ring name rather than a peripheral, for instance The Brahma Bull for The Rock is his nick name but it would never be featured in a graphic for his entrance but "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is a nickname that is always used (the SCSA infobox in fact seems to be omitting that his name from before WWE was "Stunning" Steve Austin, but lists his ring name as Stone Cold). The nickname infobox rule is not an all-or-nothing. –– Lid(Talk) 05:07, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
"Stone Cold" is still a nickname but it is a nickname that is integral to the ring name and differentiates himself from simply "Steve Austin" and "Stunning". The same applies to "Lionheart" Chris Jericho and "Y2J" Chris Jericho as the simple "Chris Jericho" does not properly convey rung names of the period. As stated the opposite is "The Great One" The Rock and "The Brahma Bull" The Rock - "the rule" is flawed. –– Lid(Talk) 05:13, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Moving it there would be against WP:COMMONNAME in both the most commonly used name, avoiding disambiguation and would be semantics over nickname vs ring name. As for Chris Jericho I still don't see why nicknames should be incompatible with ring names, and as well I don't see a really logical reason for this rule to exist. –– Lid(Talk) 06:00, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
No no, what I meant was that "nicknames" is a misnomer in regards to certain wrestlers ring names and while the nickname is a nickname it is also a directly identifiable part of the ring name. Just because a nickname is a nickname does not mean the nickname is not a ring name. –– Lid(Talk) 06:06, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Collaboration of the Week

The Pro Wrestling Collaboration of the Week for November 11 - November 17 is World Wrestling Entertainment. Please help to improve it to match the quality of an ideal Wikipedia professional wrestling related article. The next article for collaboration will be chosen on Sunday, November 18.
Cast your vote to select the collaboration for next week!Nominate an article that could be greatly improved!

From the Editor

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter! I hope this will be a good source of news to those people interested in what's happening around our pro wrestlimg community. I plan to release it every Sunday.

This newsletter will just be a way to get the community announcements to people who don't have the time to check the mesageboards, as well that to those just curious about the news. The newsleter will consist of a project news section (to do with what's happening on Wikipedia), and a current events section (relating to news in the "real world"). The newslette will also contain the Collaboration of the Week announcement.

That's all. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please post them at this talk page.

Regarding TNA Genesis "speculation"

I know my comment was clearly not encyclopedic, but it was merely a sarcastic statement of the obvious.

And since I was right, it sort of moots the point.

I didn't speculate out of the blue---I collected evidence and put together an obvious picture. TNA Wrestling provided users with a puzzle to solve, which led to a picture, featuring Steve "Sting" Borden's last name spelled out backwards in graffiti, as well as "Huffman" spelled backwards---Booker T's last name. To remove all doubt, the initials "BT" were also placed, along with "Genesis" and "Nov" and "11", indicating Sting and Booker T teaming for Genesis November 11th.

It was pretty much obvious to just about everyone who saw the puzzle and knew Booker T's real last name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AndarielHalo (talkcontribs) 17:35, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

I reverted it because of the 15 minutes of fame note. There's no way to know if the segment is official done with unless Morrison is released. But you did make a good point. -- bulletproof 3:16 20:06, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

My edits to Virtual Console

First of all, sorry about the Masaya link, I was a too quick there. Now, about the red links, I strongly believe that they should be left as-is to motivate the creation of the linked article in question. This seems to be in accordance with WP:RED, unless I've misunderstood something. Also, I can't see how linking to an disambiguation article would help the reader.

Should the text "Masaya" really even be there? From what I can understand of the Japanese wiki article on Nippon/Nihon/Japan Computer Systems (日本コンピュータシステム) it appears that they where previously named "Masaya" (ja:メサイヤ) but have since changed it.

I'll go over my previous edits to fix any other Masaya mishaps. -- Execvator 05:15, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

King of the Ring

I merged the information for 1994 and 1995 into the main article for King of the Ring because for some strange reason they were the only 2 years out of 17 that had their own articles. I think in the interest in uniformity that there should either be 1 article inclusive of all years, or separate articles for each year. Giving 1994 and 1995 special treatment does not make sense to me. Thoughts? Yagobo79 12:08, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Fair enough. May I suggest that until all the separate articles are complete, the information remain in the main article. So that it doesn't seem to random. Yagobo79 12:14, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
I think uniformity within the King of the Ring article itself would improve the overall quality of the article. Yagobo79 12:31, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
While I see Yagobo's point in the comment directly above, I believe putting all that information back into the King of the Ring Article itself would negate the purpose of the separate articles, and that is not something we want to do. I have rv'ed back to the original version. Bmg916Speak 14:33, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Right, but all that I mentioned DID air on television, like Cyber Sunday and when he defeated CM punk on his return, defeated the Miz to earn a title match and all....I know I'm not to mention things that didn't air on television or a website....--Lord Dagon 13:53, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

I realize that (I read the discussion). Its just that I recently did some housecleaning on all the archive pages, so that there are 50 sections in each archive. I just placed the first 8 sections into Archive 33 to fill it up. The Chronic 06:44, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Edits to others' comments in talk page archives

I noticed you recently used AWB to un-redirect a number of links and change various formatting on Talk:Super Nintendo Entertainment System/Archive 1; I have reverted these changes because WP:TALK recommends against doing so, especially since things like replacing Super Famicom with Super Famicom in the old discussion about merging Super Famicom with Super Nintendo Entertainment System changes the meaning of the comments. Please remember the AWB Rules of use. Thanks. Anomie 15:12, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Before reverting, do you have any alternate suggestions to eliminate redirects? Among other general cleaning up, I managed to get links to Famicom down to about 6 articles. Among those, the only I can't edit is at Dragon Ball Z (and that is only because an edit war among other users has that page fully protected, so only admins can edit it). I intend to move onto Nintendo's other systems when i'm done with the NES. TJ Spyke 03:13, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
If by "eliminate redirects" you mean that you're going to propose Famicom for deletion, I'd say that is a useful redirect from an alternate name for the system and should be kept. If you're just trying to replace links to redirect pages, keep in mind WP:R#Do not change links to redirects that are not broken. In either case, I can't say I see any reason to change all these links (but except for the one case I mentioned above, I see no particular reason to change them back either). Is there a reason I'm missing? Anomie 03:25, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
I am not suggesting any of the redirects be deleted. I just think that something like Famicom should be used instead of Famicom by itself. It's not like I am editing pages just to fix redirects, I also do general cleanup with AWB at the same time. I know it's not recommended, but it's not forbidden either and it's not changing how the page looks to readers (since they still see just "Famicom"). TJ Spyke 03:33, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
I can't see any reason for it, but I'm not going to go around changing things back either except if I notice something like the talk page archive I reverted in the first place. Whenever I'm doing a replacement like that (e.g. when I SVGized Image:FF project logo.png a while back), I ignore uses in talk page comments and individual user pages. Re:Image:Endless Ocean.jpg

Hi, thanks for your message. Sorry, I usually only checked if the images were correctly tagged as redundant then deleted them per the related speedy criterion, didn't pay enough attention to the day they were uploaded. Sorry. I've reviewed both images, and I noticed yours was of higher resolution than the other one, not a serious issue or anything, but it's my view that the other image is preferable in accordance with the minimal extent of use policy noted in Wikipedia:Non-free content. The editor who tagged your image may have done so in good faith. AGF, pls...? 'cos hey! This is not a battle to see whose image gets to appear on the article! --> I hope you don't mind about this. =) On a more serious note, I should really have mentioned it to you beforehand, so please accept my apologies.
