Fair use rationale for Image:Dexisode12.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Dexisode12.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 22:52, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Ho Baron[edit]

A tag has been placed on Ho Baron, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per speedy deletion criterion G11.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.Pyrospirit (talk · contribs) 22:35, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:MarionCotillard.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:MarionCotillard.jpg. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Image copyright problem with Image:Prox Vand.JPG[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Prox Vand.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 02:21, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, could you please explain the purpose behind this page? I'm tempted to delete it per WP:CSD#G10 as an attack page. Regards, ˉˉanetode╦╩ 04:24, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, this page was created not as a personal attack, but rather for my own reference. In approximately August of 2006, an article a about a soon to be politician caused some concern for the Wikipediaq community. The article was a carbon copy of a rather positive biography quoted verbatim from the candidate's website. The deletion discussion can be found here. Since then, supporters of the candidate have attempted to resurrect the article, but to no avail. It was decided by administrators as well as myself that the article should be placed in a sandbox somewhere away from public view so that it would not be searchable within Wikipedia until it was agreed that the candidate became sufficiently notable to warrant an article. That accumulation of information can be found here. Anybody is free to edit it, as long as the edits are meaningful, and not malicious in any way. Interestingly, on September 13, 2006 IP address 75.5.106.46 attempted to censor controversial materials within the archived accumulation. That IP address is registered to the candidate's political campaign (Dee Margo For TX Senate). Please take a moment to check it with WikiScanner. Screenshots of the Whois lookup were then archived within the page in question. The portion of the page that I assume you are referring to as being a possible personal attack references another censoring attempt made on January 3, 2008 as the candidate announced he is running for another political office. Interestingly enough, the edits were made by an employee of the candidate.
Now, if you recall, following Wikipedia's discovery that staffers of members of the U.S. House of Representatives had embarked on a campaign to cleanse their respective bosses' biographies on Wikipedia in January 2006, a general policy against Exposure to political operatives and advocates has been implemented. Such revisions are considered SPAM, and in an interview, Wikipedia de facto leader Jimmy Wales[1] remarked that the changes were "not cool."[2] Somnabot (talk) 17:21, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation. My concern with this subpage was that the images you used in compiling it contravened image use policy (trite, I know). You can't claim GFDL or public domain licensing on screenshots of whois lookups from a copyrighted website or a bio blurb from a corporate site, although you are welcome to report your findings, quote the relevant IPs and registration data, and use links to support such evidence. As you've re-uploaded these images, I am again going to remove and delete them as blatant copyright infringement. I understand that you have certain expectations about your userspace and uploads, but from my angle this is simple administrative maintenance. Aside from deleting some of your images, I have no desire to interfere with your sleuthing or become involved in any well-meaning campaign to out political operatives. Please limit this subpage to text and external links. Regards, ˉˉanetode╦╩ 19:42, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:P6cray 01.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:P6cray 01.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:03, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Cadaveramado300.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cadaveramado300.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:52, 27 June 2008 (UTC).
