Checkuser request

If you have a moment, please compare the two IPs edit warring over a citation needed tag for an uncontroversial statement at this article here, with this user. These similar edits ([1],[2]) by that user and one of the IPs, done in the same day, make me think that it's the same editor, logged out and IP hopping, possibly to feud over an article I had created because I had just removed one of his edits on another article, in part because it was unsourced,[3] and I had previously helped revert his challenged edits to that and other related articles (see discussion). Dion Cools again

Hi Mbisanz, recently I've asked for the undeletion of Dion Cools at User talk:MBisanz/Archive 18#Dion Cools, which was denied by GiantSnowman, claiming WP:CRYSTAL stating he 'might' play in the future but hasn't yet.

This evening, the opening game in the 2015–16 Belgian Pro League will feature Sint-Truiden and Club Brugge, including with near certain probability the first performance of Dion Cools. For a link, see [4]. Assuming he'll play, please revert the delete at 20:31 CET :p Thanks in advance... IMHO this is a silly process and the page should never have been deleted, WP:NOTBUR. The Accidentals

Earlier this year (May 3, 2015) you responsibly deleted an article about a music group The Accidentals. The article -- while I haven't seen it -- would likely have been about a little-known group in the NY area:The Accidentals. However, since that time, another group of the same name has emerged which I believe meets the notability standard for Wikipedia: The Accidentals. This group is currently on tour across the US and is a hot new band. They have myriads of news media hits, including a post on Billboard in March of this year, and have CDs out. They have a big-name collaborator (Marshall Crenshaw) and I wanted to write an article on this Accidentals band. I understand it will be subject to a notability and quality review. Implementation of Wikipedia:Bureaucrats#Bureaucrat activity requirements

Following a community discussion ending August 2015, consensus was reached to remove the bureaucrat permissions of users who have not participated in bureaucrat activity for three years.


To assist with the implementation of this requirement, please see Wikipedia:Bureaucrat activity. Modeled after Wikipedia:Inactive administrators and similar to that process, the log page will be created on 1 September 2015. Bureaucrats who have not met the activity requirements as of that date will be notified by email (where possible) and on their talk page to advise of the pending removal.

If the notified user does not return to bureaucrat activity and the permissions are removed, they will need to request reinstatement at WP:RFB. Removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon the affected user in any way.

Newbie

Hi,

I am new to wikipedia and have had a go at writing articles only to find I have become victim to an editor having a personal vendetta against me. It is advised here that users should be helpful to newcomers and help them fix issues with their pages or edits not just get them deleted. Yet this user has now nominated all articles written by me to be deleted without offering assistance or any help. I don't dispute the articles being deleted and you were right to delete Nabsora if it didn't meet Wikipedia rules, but I don't feel this user is sticking to the rules. As a newcomer I feel victimized by this editor and that my efforts and contributions are now unwanted leaving me to have negative views of wikipedia, it's content and users. Please help! Checkmarx

I am here to request the undeletion of the article Checkmarx (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Checkmarx). It was previously deleted numerous times and then blocked from recreation. It was deleted in 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2013. You can refer to the previous link for the deletion discussions associated with the content.

First, I am not receiving compensation to write this article. I read the guidelines on conflict of interest and want to make sure that is clear. I do have a connection with the company which is another reason I am here. I have created a draft in my sandbox that I would like reviewed and if appropriate, have the article unblocked and restored to the version I created. I believe it is non-promotional in tone and adheres to Wikipedia guidelines.

The reason I feel it warrants undeletion is because the last deletion was in 2013. Prior to that time, the company had little press that showed it to be notable. Unfortunately, it appears that people tried to create and cram the article into Wikipedia anyway. I cannot apologize for that as I was not associated with those creations. However, I would like to show you a few things that have made the company notable since its last deletion in 2013.

Since 2013, the company has received a ton of press coverage in reliable sources, both in Hebrew and in English. They can be found through a quick Google search on Google News - https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=%22checkmarx%22&tbm=nws

The article in my sandbox can be edited to how you feel appropriate. I feel it is non promotional, but ask that you review and edit it if you feel it is not. I am just hoping for two things here. The first is that the draft be reviewed for its content and adjusted as you see fit for Wikipedia standards. The second is that it be undeleted and the draft in my sandbox be used as the article.

This page here, Wikipedia:Why was the page I created deleted? seems to explain that if an editor feels their article was wrongly deleted that they should discuss it with the person that deleted it. Well, MBisanz, I just feel like it was wrongly deleted. I think the article was worthy because the site of the award is the most important of the world ion basketball, and also it is the award that all of Europe's biggest basketball journalists vote on. Less than simple rename

Hello. My username history is a bit complex so bear with me while I explain what I want. I was originally HighInBC, I renamed myself to H to avoid being googled during a period harassment(Special:Contributions/H). Later I got in a far worse situation and due to death threats I abandoned that account and created my current account.

At some point I recreated User:HighInBC to avoid someone taking it for impersonation without intending to ever edit under it. Somehow I managed to edit with that account twice, I think using a phone I rarely edit with.

Long story short I would like to rename HighInBC(which has only 2 edits, both by me) to something arbitrary and rename my current account to HighInBC.

I have access to the HighInBC account and can log in to confirm that. I would really rather edit under than name that I passed my RfA under, let me know if this can be done. Chillum 02:46, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

I realise that an uncontroversial re-naming could be done at any time. But user Settleman is presently under discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Proposed_WP:BOOMERANG_for_User:Settleman...and this becomes even messier than the usual I/P-stuff, as user Settleman apparently just ceased to exist (at least under that name), Thoughts? Another rename question

Although not as complicated as Chillum's above, I have been considering changing my account name to Dave, seems as though that user is a long blocked sockpuppet (blocked since 2007), and that account seems to only be a local user, is it possible for me to usurp that name, and globally rename this account to Dave? More complicated since I am an oversighter, I suspect I would have to have a note put on the meta identification noticeboard. This is more of an inquiry before I were to put in a formal request. Restore image?

I'd like to ask you to restore a deleted image. It's my own work, so I will tag it as such. OTOH it's a short musical phrase that is part of a jingle written by someone else. My guess is that it may be used as fair-use, since short quotations of copyright articles may be used likewise. Do you agree?

Recreating Deleted Page

Hi there,

Sorry if I'm doing this wrong, I've edited stuff on Wikipedia for a while, but I don't really know how to communicate properly yet. So please feel free to correct me if I make mistakes!

In any case, I am hoping to recreate the Drasar Monumental wikipedia page that was previously deleted. The reason being was that he was not independently prominent outside of the duo he's a part of. However, he has been doing other work, and has been featured on some pretty prominent online radio in both the UK and the US as well as several websites. I went to recreate the page, but it told me to consult with you first.

So here I am.

Help, adivce, etc. is all appreciated.

Deletion of few pages

Hi, You have deleted 3 pages about Asian Handball Asian Men's Junior Handball Championship, Asian Women's Junior Handball Championship and Asian Men's Youth Handball Championship. I think that wasn't really the best decision, I can't see voting in favor of deletion, that was equal and I think for deleting an article you need more delete vote. I really think those pages should stay and even if they lack sources, I will add sources ASAP. I want to know how I can open the discussion again, I accept that was my fault to not take the discussion serious. The first one was a copy-paste error of the intended redirect target "Casper Van Dien". I re-listed the other article because a user asked for a few more days to see if sources could be found, and it seemed like a low-cost solution to satisfy them (and prevent a request for undeletion). Restore Deleted Page

Hello,

I am one of the authors of recently deleted page about the company EyeSee. I could see that the reason for deletion was the lack of reliable and independent sources. The article contained at least 6 references to secondary sources (mostly respected Belgian newspapers) that reported about the company and its business. I am not sure that I completely understand why this was not enough for keeping the page. Can you please explain why the listed sources were taken for not reliable? I would also like to know if it is possible to restore the page. Thank you.

The article could use more details about how the company's product has been covered in the press. The prior article had cites to awards the company has won, but did not go into much detail as to why its product is notable or why its activity as a company has been covered in the press. These are not the strongest candidates for deletion from the Longevity walled garden, but nonetheless their discussions are best closed by someone aware of the long history of this topic area. Since I received a ping related to this discussion... If you reach the same conclusions knowing who the SPAs are that's fine. They weren't giant flaming wrecks, and the person closing this discussion has (as far as I know) no history of partisan editing in the topic; while it might have been ideal to have an admin close it, if you're good with it then there's no reason to reopen anything. Reason for Page Deletion?

Hi MBisanz,

I recently checked that one of the pages I wrote got deleted :(, In my opinion the article was unbiased and followed the guidelines provided by Wikipedia. However you must have seen some violation that led to the deletion of the article. I would appreciate if you can kindly share the reason so that I can rectify them and resubmit the article. The article was related to Online Pharmacy that I use for my medication, the URL for the Wikipedia Page (Prior to deletion) was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Healthwarehouse.

(talk page stalker)@Billybyconner: if you go to the linked discussion in the deletion reason on the page you linked, you can see the community had decided the organization in question did not meet Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion WP:CORP or WP:GNG as proven by use of reliable sources. If you still think the company may meet the requirements and can prove it, I would suggest working on it at Draft:Healthwarehouse. Once you feel it efficiently meets the requirements for inclusion you can add {{subst:submit}} to the top of the page, this will signal an experienced editor to come and take a look.McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 13:05, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

Process of deletion review

Hi MBisanz,

I would like to suggest new sources for a page that was written about me and was deleted by you a couple weeks ago. It was deleted because most people in the discussion did not seem to find much information except for "standard" modeling links. However, I have collected at least 30 reputable sources which specifically mention work that I have done with famous photographers, magazine covers and designers, and I believe that if I have the chance to edit the page, and include these sources as reference, it will pass the criteria for a Wiki page, as per my understanding. I am new and not 100% sure of the procedures. The deletion discussion is: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Vanessa_Perron_(2nd_nomination)

Could you please advise me on the recommended next step for me? Would it be recreating the page, and submitting it for review? Or is there another process I need to follow.

Deletion of List of MSX compatible computers

Hi. I would like to inquire about your deletion closure of this article and point out a couple of things. There have been two opinions aside from the proposer's, one "keep" and one "delete". The "delete" was given just one day after the article had been re-listed for discussion, and afterwards, I had started searching for and including various references to substantiate the article's claims that some products belonged in it (though I can no longer show this as the article's history is gone).

Was it not a reasonable assumption for me to think that the deletion discussion would continue for another week after being relisted? Didn't the fact I was adding source somewhat counter the "delete" opinion that was based on sources not being provided? Aside from references, the proposer's opinion, in turn, was basically just that the MSX standard is "antiquated", but then we should have no MSX article in the first place, so I don't see how that's a policy-based rationale for deletion.

I thought a stand-alone list didn't, in turn, strictly require every item to be referenced to be included, and in any case, a bonafide effort to start referencing was being made, even aside from the entries that had their own article and, as such, were intrinsically justified for inclusion (as long as their own article showed the item was an MSX-standard computer).

I added the sources on November 15 to the article - around 5 pm Eastern. User:Sir Sputnik reviewed on November 12 and User:Spiderone reviewed on November 13. Now to be honest I did mention the same sources in the deletion discussion on November 8, however User:Fenix down and others requested further information about what Chinese-languages sources said on November 9 - and I did so on November 15, with translations of the article names provided in the article on that day. None of them weighed in again during the debate. I don't know if that's because they just weren't aware, or if they simply didn't have anything further to add. My reasoning was that a number of the participants successfully argued that the event was of transient significance. While you did point out that there were still developments occurring that could result in notability, that gives more support to those arguing for deletion under the Too Soon or Not News guidelines. If the points you raise do develop into lasting notability (e.g., policy change), there would likely be additional sources that would support a standalone article. Clyde cancer cluster

Hello. I was told on IRC that you're a lawyer and that you may be able to help me long term with an article that has need for expansion of information on law called Clyde cancer cluster. The cluster is, or at least was, a huge deal in Clyde for years, but the problem is, it's hard to recruit editors for it because it's a hard topic that needs attention for its coverage of the law, the chemistry, and the cancer. I was going to ask you if you could personally do extensive help with me on improving the article. My goal is to get Clyde cancer cluster Good Article status on Wikipedia, being the first article about Clyde, Ohio to have Good Article status besides Winesburg, Ohio (novel). I know this is weird, but I have a weird fantasy about seeing a big green + on the top right corner of that page by community consensus.

Anyway enough of the overall goal. I just wanted to know if you wanted to help. What I'm requesting to you is; can you and I exchange reference links and you make comments on them and then I make comments on them, we each make edits to the article according to references, and if I have questions about something I don't understand about the law issues, etc., then I can ask you? Reversal of an AfD close you made

  • Hi MBisanz, I think you should reconsider your close at this AfD. You closed it as "redirect" even when there was no consensus for "redirect". Result should have been "no consensus" or at least "merge". If we see !vote wise, 1st !vote of Kitfoxxe was "merge". Then Chris55 !votes "Redirect and transfer to Michael H. Hart article" (means merge). Dragons flight=keep, BD2412=merge, Gamaliel=keep, Mnnlaxer=redirect(only redirect !vote on AfD), GuzzyG=KEEP, Sandstein=merge, DGG=Keep. So, you can see there is only one "redirect" !vote and rest of editors were either asking to keep or merge, so closing it as "redirect" was not good decision. Neither there is clear consensus to merge the article, it should have been "no consensus" close. I hope you will re-think over it. Thank you.--Human3015Let It Go  09:18, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
  • Redirecting does not prejudice merging of content because the content still existing in prior revisions. Your excuse was about the title. Your excuse for deletion was that the title was wrong. That the content was about the myths while the title was about evolution. Hence, your nonsense doesn't apply when the title is set as myths. There is nothing to change in the article. It is properly referenced. You deleted "East Asian mythology about the evolution of folded eyelids" for no reason

When you deleted the previous "The evolution of folded eyelids", your excuse was that it didn't say anything about evolution specifically whilst the content was about the existing myths in the topic. So, I recreated using the different article title. I named the title "myths" & the content was about "myths". Why did you delete this time? If you are claiming it is not referenced *because you can't read Korean* despite me having already summarized the quoted newspaper, that's your problem. That doesn't make it not referenced. If you are claiming that a reference in foreign language can't be used, I would like to see that rule as I've seen plenty of foreign references. It's a specifically existing topic of significant facts (as in being notable).

I deleted it because people (i) believed it was not notable as an independent topic and any relevant material should be included in Epicanthic fold and (ii) other noted the sourcing for the assertions made in the article was inadequate. After introducing the myth (the general perception), the related scientific facts speaking against the myth are a legitimate related topics, which I included after introducing the myths. That's why I was saying that false claims were made on notability & the legitimacy of the sources. My article was wrongfully deleted. Appeal to Popularity is a logical fallacy. Whether many people wish the article to be deleted or not, that doesn't mean any Wiki rule is actually violated. Many people can be wrong while 1 person against them is right. They are agreeing with your close because they are supporting the lies of "not notable" & "not legitimate references", which are false. I provided sufficient reasoning why the topic is notable by Wiki's definition & why the references are legitimate. They are skipping over that part. Either provide specific details which sentences are problematic (if you claim there to be many, a couple examples are fine aside from how the rest of them should be uploaded anyway) or fix the false claims accepted to close my article.

That's just playing around with words as usual. Also, I was the one who started that article, so referring to the deleted article as "my article" is conventionally legit.
It fits the definition of lie completely when you claim a topic to be not notable (which Wiki defines as having a coverage & being able to be verified) when I provided links covering the topic. It is completely a lie when you claim a source to be not legitimate when it is a genuinely accepted type of source by MLA, APA or Wiki. All the sources I used at all were Google books (legit), newspapers (legit), scientific channels quoting research institutes (legit). What else did I use really? Also, even if there was 1 sentence problematic at all, what's up with deleting the entire article? You see the injustice in this?

Donald Braswell II

Dear MBisanz,

I do hope I'm doing this request properly. I am not very adept at Wikipedia. I apologize if I did it wrong. I've only just discovered that the article about Donald Braswell II which I played an integral part in creating has been deleted, without any notification, by just a couple people who decided it should go. No real discussion took place. It is distressing that contributors who have spent countless hours creating something that seemed to be deemed acceptable (after hours of requested changes), can have it deleted by the whim of so few people. I believe many, if not most, contributors are not wanting permanent jobs to watch their articles on Wikipedia nor are experts about Wikipedia. Once an article is finished, we should have confidence that the information will be there. I'm having to relearn how to get around Wikipedia again so no doubt I will do things wrong. In this case the proposed deletion was stated due to Donald Braswell not being notable enough. There are many reasons I feel he is notable:

- He is a Juilliard graduate on a full-ride scholarship.

- He is a student of the famed Maestro Franco Corelli and Marni Nixon, who provided the singing voice for people such as Deborah Kerr in the The King and I and Natalie Wood in West Side Story.

- He won the Liederkranz Foundation Vocal Competition

- He received a grant to the The Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation and performed at the Grand Plaza Hotel in New York.

- He performed world-wide in opera companies including the Welsh National Opera Company among others.

- He overcame an accident that took his voice away for 11 years, despite doctors saying he wouldn't.

- He has performed 3 times in Carnegie Hall

- He was a 4th place winner of America's Got Talent

- He as performed with multiple symphonies

- PBS produced and televised a live mini-concert video called "New Beginnings". Diane Bliss was the producer whose other talents include Riverdance, Michael Buble and Daniel O'Donnell.

I'm sure I'm forgetting other accomplishments. Why is Donald Braswell II not notable enough? How much more does a person have to do to qualify as someone whose history is worth documenting? I've certainly seen and enjoyed learning about people on Wikipedia with much less notoriety. If someone is searching for information on some of these, shouldn't Wikipedia have it there, since it wants to be an encyclopedia of everything? For instance, why is it right to have every WWE wrestler listed on Wikipedia. How is it they are more notable than Donald Braswell?

Wikiauthenticity I voted delete at the article because I found no better convincing coverage about him. If you can find ample coverage sources about him overall, feel welcome to restart the article at User:Wikiauthenticity/Donald Braswell but it will have to be convincing enough to keep (see WP:GNG). Again I don't know if I'm doing this editing properly, but giving it a try. Can you be more precise about "it will have to be convincing enough" for you to approve the article? Are you saying the above accomplishments do not warrant a page and he has to have more before you will accept it? Or are you saying that they have to be described on the internet by news media before you will accept the page? Most of the articles about the events are no longer on the net and some never were there. Is Wikipedia more interested in facts about a person or more interested in internet publicity about someone? Links I had in the article periodically go away and I have no control about that. There is plenty of internet evidence of his AGT performances. I ran into the same problem with the page for Donald Braswell (his father), because all of his accomplishments were before the internet existed.
Please before spend weeks and weeks updating the page again, let me know what you are looking for, beyond what I listed above. For example I did a random search on Wikipedia and there is one for Suzanne Rochon-Burnett. The links for the supporting documents no longer exist, though I'm sure they were there once. She only had one accomplishment and by your assessment, I think, shouldn't warrant a page. I think she should have one because it is trivia we look for when we search Wikipedia. By that measure, just the win in AGT should be a big enough justification for a page. Isn't Wikipedia a place where we should be able to find information on everything we possibly can?
Also the page you set up for me to edit is for Donald Braswell, not Donald Braswell II. That was a long drawn out discussion years ago for keeping Donald Braswell II. Am I back having to fight that battle again? The user page you pointed me to to rebuild the page is blank. Is there no way to start with the old page and modify it? Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dreieck Kassel-Süd

I am writing to discuss your close.  The nominator didn't submit a deletion argument.  The only two delete !votes looked at the article, but article content does not determine notability.  There was one unamplified claim that the topic fails the essay WP:RUNOFTHEMILL, but the essay itself is about cul-de-sacs and the problem that comes from covering every street in every square mile of a city, which has the effect of showing that the kreuzes and dreiecks, of which there are estimated to be 200, are the very opposite of WP:RUNOFTHEMILL.  We know from WP:GEOROAD that we want coverage of the autobahn "network", and this article is an autobahndreieck.  Given the weak arguments for non-notability, what rational basis is there to consider whether the topic is both non-notable and insignificant, i.e., deletable?  Determination of insignificance requires only to know that each dreieck connects two Autobahns.  In this case, the dreieck connects A7 and A44, and terminates A44.  As a working principle, I don't oppose redirect with option to merge to Bundesautobahn 44, as this is sufficient for our content contributors to proceed.  But given the weak arguments for non-notability and the absence of arguments for deletion, what is the basis for the close?  Am I missing something here?  Thank you, Unscintillating (talk) 04:17, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Is this what you mean?  As for the 2004 name change and associated controversy, I found this by reading one of the references in the article.  I'm not aware of any place in policy where it says that keep !votes have a burden not shared by delete !votes.  But if you are not satisfied with the keep !votes, the delete !votes have provided no foundation for a delete, so what is the problem with closing as a redirect to one of the Autobahns?  The essay WP:AFD/Common outcomes, states, "** Highway exits should be listed in an article on a highway, not as a separate article, except for some highly notable ones (e.g. the Springfield Interchange near Washington, D.C.)."  Thank you, Unscintillating (talk) 01:38, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

While helpful, I find this response problematic.  Without guidelines that tell me which !votes implied due diligence and which didn't; if I disagree, I don't know if it is your guidelines with which I disagree, or your opinion. 

But the issue of non-notability aside, I've not seen you respond to my on-going point, amplified at WP:Insignificance, that the delete !votes have not attempted arguments that extend non-notability to the level of deletion.  WP:Insignificance#Notes identifies applicable quotes from longstanding policies and guidelines.  Examples of what is said there are,

  • WP:N states, "For articles of unclear notability, deletion should be a last resort."
  • WP:REDIRECT#Reasons for not deleting states, "...avoid deleting redirects if...1. They have a potentially useful page history..."
  • WP:REDIRECT#Reasons for not deleting states, "...avoid deleting redirects if...3. They aid searches on certain terms."
  • WP:REDIRECT#Reasons for not deleting states, "...avoid deleting redirects if...7. The redirect could plausibly be expanded into an article...

bureaucratic guidance

I seek your informal advice because you are a bureaucrat. According to WP:UAL, bureaucrats grant rights to autopatrol, rollback, and pending changes reviewer. This page mentions the high level of trust and responsibility required to have those powers.

A few days ago, I posted a suggestion on a talk page about Planet Nine, which I believe is now a possible planet, not a hypothetical. The difference is that the likelihood is greater than earlier believed. Within about an hour, a user with the above trusted powers placed the whole section in the archives. It was not a mistake but a deliberate effort.

I wrote to that user and he is very belligerent, calling it garbage and to fuck yourself. There is no need to warn someone because it is clear that such behavior is not appropriate. Similarly, murderers are not released and warned, they are dealt with. Some sort of blocking to prevent further harm to Wikipedia may be indicated but certainly removal of these trusted powers (autopatrol, rollback, pending changes review) is called for when a user is so belligerent.

Questionable close decision

Well that figures

I see the post you left on my old user talk page at Tbsdy lives all that time ago, yet some goose added a redirect from talk to the main user page. Consequently whenever anyone looks at my user page they see wall to wall bot messages (seriously, bot writers don't check these things?!) and of course I didn't see the message you left.

It's all irrelevant, I promised Brad I'd not return and I haven't, except to tell Jimmy how very sad I am about the whole WMF debacle. But the very least you could do would be to wipe those useless bot messages from my user page. Hi, It has just come to my attention that you recently adjudicated on two AfD discussions; Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Peter Bowsher and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Charles Sherrard (barrister) and in both cases you ruled in favour of delete. In both cases the nominator quoted WP:LAWYERS "A lawyer who has received an appointment that indicates pre-eminence within the profession, such as Queen's Counsel, shall be treated in the same manner as a person who satisfies criteria 1 of WP:ANYBIO." which actually provided cast iron evidence of why both articles should have been retained as both these people were QCs. The nominator knew they were QCs and argued incorrectly that a subject needs to satisfy more than criteria 1 of WP:ANYBIO to avoid deletion. Your decisions have resulted in the nominator nominating a whole bunch of AfDs on similar grounds, pissing off at least one other editor. I think you should explore ways in which you can walk back your decisions. Graemp (talk) 07:34, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

If there is new evidence (i.e., that they are QCs), then it should go to WP:RFU. Also, WP:LAWYERS is a failed proposal, so the mere fact they are QCs would not mean automatic inclusion; they would still need to pass WP:ANYBIO / WP:NOTABILITY. MBisanz talk 09:51, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

Hello MBisanz, I have a question for you regarding the page Road signs in the United States. Looking at it, it seems the page turned into a giant gallery, rather comprehensive. It is an article but it seems to be an article to host Wikimedia Commons pics. I don't doubt it deserves a place on en.wiki but i think it would be better suited if Wikimedia Commons had the page, if that is even allowed. I kindly request for comment. Hi MBisanz, Thank you for taking a look at the article I wrote several years back on Active Adult Retail. I read your comments on why you deleted it and I respectfully ask that you reconsider this decision. The main reason for your objection is the McKinsey Report. I am pretty sure that I did not make this citation and it could have possibly been added later by another user. So, if this is misleading, I agree that this can be deleted. As to the other citations, including the Active Adult Retail article authored by both Rebecca Hardin and myself, this is accurate and used as a primer to the land planning industry and for new 55+ community development. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Judith Ward

Hi, I'm requesting an overturn of the close-as-delete here. Sorry, but I hadn't noticed the AfD. I'm presuming this is Judith Ward, as in the M62 coach bomber?

At the very least, this should have been a merge and redirect to the bombing article, not a delete. Mostly though, maybe an AfD with still so few comments should have been relisted again, or trailed at the M62 coach bombing article (and then I might have noticed it). No criticism of those commentating, but this is also a very UK and Ireland specific article from a few decades ago. If you're UK and middle aged, it's a big story. If you're not, then much less so.

As to BLP1E (and I don't see this applied to Tim McVeigh), then that really doesn't apply. The point about Ward is that she was a fantasist under interrogation duress, not a bomber. Her case dragged on for decades and was one of the celebrated group of IRA mistrials in the mid-90s. That case is an important part of UK legal history, her specific case and handling during interrogation is taught as an example in criminal law and police training. I've changed it to a merge and redirect. It was relisted twice and listed 3 "related" categories, and the only comments were two in favor of deletion. I agree it's thin, but it can be hard to motivate people to comment, and if discussions are constantly relisted, people get wall-of-text fatigue. MBisanz talk 11:52, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
Thanks. The problem is that it's very much an English topic. If you weren't in England in the '90s, or even the '70s, it means nothing. Even the Republicans aren't interested, as she was seen as more of an embarrassment than an innocent martyr, as the Birmingham Six were.

Recent AfD closure

Hi MBisanz: Just curious why you closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Travel Scientists as redirect (only). Three participants to the discussion (excluding the nom) recommended a merge, two of the three recommended "merge and redirect", and one participant recommended for the article to be kept. Even the nominator indirectly suggested a merge, stating, "Basically, very little can be said about the company that can not be included under the Rikshaw Challenge page". I'm concerned because from past experience I've had, the content will likely never be merged even though consensus was clearly for one. Would you reconsider closing as "merge"? Trump mode effect

I do not agree with your decision to redirect the article to mode effect. Most of the other commenters are clearly biased against Trump and did not provide any other feedback other than "hey delete!" or "hey redirect!". I added many more citations to the article. The article has merit. Your decision to redirect the article just goes to show that most editors were are biased against Trump and will do anything to suppress any article about Trump. What "consensus"? Whoever gets the most people to shout the loudest wins? The only person in that talk page who actually expressed a neutral opinion backed up by facts is E.M.Gregory. And I found several additional citations and added them to the article. Nobody followed up by saying anything about the new citations. It seems to me that you have already made up your minds as soon as you saw that this is an article about Trump. That's not how community works. Hi. I saw that you closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dan Vahdat as redirect to Medopad. I don't really see how you came to that assessment of consensus. Yes, two people suggested redirecting, but others specifically said that they opposed a redirect, and more people opted for a straight delete. Could you explain your assessment of the consensus? I read it as Cunard and NorthAmerica as expressly supporting a redirect; SwisterTwister as supporting a protected redirect; Mhdv as implicitly supporting a redirect (because he wanted to keep the entire article); RockyMtChai as supporting a redirect via merge; and SmartSe, MeatsGains, and you are saying delete without a comment regarding redirect. Deletion Review of O'Neil Brown

Hi MBisanz, I'm writing because I think these articles were deleted unfairly, due to fact that the league the National Professional Soccer League isn't listed as a fully or non-fully professional league at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues making it's status unclear. So when I posted evidence to support that the league was fully professional at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues all the users who voted to delete the articles failed to challenge or even discuss the evidence presented. Basically, a longterm sockmaster here has begun (or has continued; I'm not clear if it's new or not) cross-wiki vandalism against Ebyabe, and a couple of other users have reported finding vandalism against them by the same person at two other projects. Not sure if steward tools will be able to resolve this mess (there are a good number of IPs involved, perhaps too many for a rangeblock), but it's definitely cross-wiki vandalism. I know this was a while ago, but I was hoping you could clarify the close so I could complete the merge. It was closed as merge, but with no redirect. This is a little unusual as we need to provide attribution when we merge content and the easiest way is to simply leave a redirect. There are other ways to do this but they would require a bit of a work around and make it more difficult to follow the content history. I was hoping you would reconsider the no redirect part of that close, especially as the two !voters for no redirect did not state why this was needed. AIRcorn (talk) 07:31, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Several people expressly stated that redirect was not appropriate. One idea would be to move LSU Free Speech Alley to Free speech zone 1, and redirect Free speech zone 1 to Free speech zone. I have done that, but I disagree with your reasoning. No one actually said why a redirect was not appropriate and I can not think of any reason why one would not be. Let me say first that I agree with the outcome. I think that the references I brought forward clearly invalidated the WP:N based !votes, meaning they should have at least discussed that and changed their vote probably. That still leaves the other concern but electronics engineers (like me) will get the data book for a chip they work with, not Wikipedia, which is good. The article did not look like a data book entry nor like a catalog page like stated by several participants; I know as I'm probably the only participant who ever used those media. Still, the outcome of delete is valid in my opinion because only articles that are not too specialized for the general WP reader should be included and if we regard the editors as a reasonable representation of WP readers then there is only me finding it okay to include, which is clearly a minority. I had to vote keep to enable to establish that and just wanted to explain that to you. I have been at this point before and more often than not the article will reappear and survive PROD, Speedy and AfD all within a year of deletion and without my involvement. Sorry to bother you but I am back. At now-archived User talk:MBisanz/Archive 19#request Harvey & Clarke article, you responded that you'd emailed the deleted article, but I have gotten around to trying to work on that and I simply cannot find it. I am sorry I did not verify promptly that i got it or not and follow up at the time. But it cannot have come into my email system (i searched on "Harvey" and on "wikipedia" and on "mbisanz") and find naught, and there's no way that I would not find it. By the way, I would prefer to get a copy of the article with edit history to my userspace, as I presume edit history cannot be conveyed in an emailed copy. So I asked for a copy at wp:refund which is not getting any response (perhaps as my posting suggested I might have some version in my possession, which is not the case however). If there is a problem I can restart the article from scratch and ask for a history merge later, but I assume that makes more work for someone and I'd rather take advantage of others' contributions. --doncram 12:31, 17 June 2016 (UTC)

Deletion review of Geez People

Hi, I'm writing for a review of the decision to delete the article Geez People. The deleted article in question is about an ancient people who made up the ethnic and cultural stock of Kingdom of Aksum and Dʿmt. Historically they are very important people in the history of Ethiopia like the ancient Latins whom are similarly ancient people who made up the ethnic and cultural stock of the Roman Empire and important people in the history of Europe and the World. One example of Latins importance is they developed a script which much of the world uses for writing, and Geez script developed by Ge'ez people is used to write languages in Ethiopia and Eritrea. Considering less importance of Ge'ez people in world history and since there is no more people called Ge'ez there are very few sources indicating the people. I don't know how many reliable sources should be supplied to prove notability but I did manage to find 4 sources from Google books as can be seen here The Iconographic Encyclopaedia of the Arts and Sciences, Volume 1, A History of African Archaeology, A Century of British Orientalists, 1902-2001 and here Ethiopia: A Cultural History. I'm sorry, but other people reviewed the sources you submitted at the AFD, and did not believe that those sources supported an article on this topic. I don't know why they said the sources discuss about a language, but when I read them what I got is that the 4 sources do talk about people. For instance the 1st source says "we must class the Geez people among the African Semites", 2nd one says "These people (indigenous semitic speaking (Geez people)) formed the basic ethnic.......", 3rd one say "Geez people didnot behave......" and 4th one says "the Geez people learned .....". If the 4 book writers believe it is a linguistic group (but not an ethnic-group) they could have indicated uncertainity by saying "Geez speaking people" instead of simply saying "Geez people". Based on your recommendation I've got 3 additional sources he conquered the Ge'ez people, Geez people were descended. and Geez people. Please review them. Andras Jones (Deleted Wikipedia page)

Hello MBisanz,

My Wikipedia page appears to have been deleted because I am an "Actor with no significant roles in major films" and "Although he won a Young Artist Award in 1988, there's not much aside from that and my searches found nothing good with this 2002 Spin article being the best. SwisterTwister talk". It is an unenviable position in which to find one's self, having to contest such a discounting of one's career, but in almost 30 years in the entertainment business I have certainly experienced worse. In regard to the assertion of insignificance, the Nightmare on Elm Street series is one of, if not the most, successful horror franchise of all time, and I play a lead role in the 4th installment. I have also played the lead in other cult horror classics like "The Attic Expeditions", "Sorority Babes In The Slimeball Bowl-A-Rama" and the "Night Trap" video game. I have starred in films opposite Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Jason-Leigh and Viggo Mortensen, and played a beloved illiterate bully in "Saved By The Bell". All of this can be found on my IMDB page. As for the Young Artist Award from 1988, I won no such award although I may have been nominated. What I can report is that, beyond my work in film, I have had a book published "Accidental Initiations: In The Kabbalistic Tree of Olympia" (Sync Book Press 2012), recorded and released over ten albums with my band Mr. Jones & The Previous and solo (many of these songs have appeared in motion picture soundtracks), and I have created and produced The Radio8Ball Show since 1998. Radio8Ball has been covered on NPR's "All Things Considered", as well as in the pages of the LA Times, The Boston Globe and all of the major Seattle papers, so I'm surprised all your researcher could come up with was an award I didn't win in 1988.

Every year I attend horror conventions visited by thousands of fans of the horror genre in general and Nightmare on Elm Street in particular. While I appreciate that my endeavors as an author, musician and as the producer of the world's foremost musical divination show may not be deemed wiki-worthy to some, it is an insult to the Nightmare series and its legions of fans to suggest that "The Dream Master" is not a major film or that the role of Rick Johnson is not significant.

If you check the Nightmare 4 Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Nightmare_on_Elm_Street_4:_The_Dream_Master) you will notice that every other actor listed on the page has an active Wikipedia page. To be singled out this way is really quite humiliating.

The AFD was open the minimum 7 days and no one objected to those assertions. Gary Lefkowith Issue

MBisanz I hope you are well. You just closed and AfD that I nominated for Gary Lefkowith found here>[21]. As you can see on my talk page found here> [22] I am finding that Mr. Lefkowith is certainly not happy that I nominated his article for deletion and he is not happy with the other editors who participated in the AfD discussion. There is also a concern here of some possible WP:Sockpuppet and WP:Username violations. This article was created and edited by Mr. Lefkowith and we as editors tried and continue to try to explain the dangers of this and the violation of his username. However, he just continues to insist that we call him and to call others who can substantiate his claims for the article. I would like for you to review my statements and admonishments to Mr. Lefkowith to make sure that I have handled this situation correctly. I certainly don't want to get into an edit war with the subject of an article simply because he is upset that his article didn't meet notability guidelines. Hi - I recently tagged this article for G6 ({{db-xfd}}), and it was deleted by Ymblanter. I didn't see the deletion log until now, though, which says that you restored it after Jo-Jo Eumerus had deleted it immediately after they closed its AfD.
