Article Resubmission by Moshswacide

John from Idegon

Hello John, once again thank you very much for reviewing my article (draft): "Shuaibu Isa Lau". I've re-edited and submitted it again and I would really appreciate it if you review it again. Here's the link: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Shuaibu_Isa_Lau

Thank You. Moshswacide (talk) 15:55, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

Hello John, sorry for disturbing you sir but I'm still waiting for reply/review.

Kind Regards Moshswacide (talk) 16:26, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

It's in the queue and someone will review it eventually. It can take as long as 3 months. Is there a reason you are in a hurry? John from Idegon (talk) 01:31, 17 October 2019 (UTC)

Duncan U. Fletcher High School

Please don't revert multiple major edits (7,139 characters) covering a lot of areas of the article only to remove two unnecessary changes; it'd be much more helpful if you only removed the unnecessary elements. Thanks. Anaglyphic (talk) 20:10, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

Anaglyphic, sorry, but I've done nothing wrong. Every change you make is subject to peer review. New information added to articles is subject to WP:CONSENSUS. I reverted your change and told you why (charts and tables have little use in school articles, WP:NOTEVERYTHING). You'd be welcome to ask for further information on why here, but if you disagree with my removal, the WP:BURDEN is on you to go to the article talk page and argue for your changes point by point. You'd make these arguments based on reliable sources and Wikipedia policies and guidelines per WP:BRD.
You're quite new and I'm glad you're here. Just keep in mind that like most people, you have misconceptions on what Wikipedia is and how it works. I've been here for 8 years and have made ~80,000 edits. I've stepped back a bit recently due to some RL issues, but up until just recently, I was the US coordinator for Wikiproject Schools, a job I fully expect to resume next year. I'm more than willing to help you make improvements to school articles, but one of the stated goals of the project is to provide a uniform coverage of schools. Including a stats set that we do not carry on other schools is not nessessarily an improvement and should be discussed. John from Idegon (talk) 21:03, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
I entirely understand how the edit would break WP:NOTEVERYTHING; it hasn't been discussed in any other reliable sources, and therefore isn't really notable or within the scope of the article. I added it mostly because the article for Amador Valley High School, a featured article under the scope of WikiProject Schools and my main format reference when contributing to Duncan U. Fletcher High School, has a stat set containing the same information (demographic population information divided by grade and year, only lightly discussed in the article). All good now; have a good day. Anaglyphic (talk) 21:25, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
We generally use NCES as they provide the same information points for virtually all US schools from the same timeframe and using the same methodology. John from Idegon (talk) 21:53, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

Edit warring

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Los Angeles shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. 101.176.22.6 (talk) 22:12, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

Draft:Del Norte Unified School District

Draft:Del Norte Unified School District I do not understand your issues with the article.

"Please use NCES for stats" -Fine, I will do so, although most high school articles aren't sourced using this particular site.

"Provide a source for the schools list" -It has one, at the bottom.

"I'll guarantee you there is no school anywhere named 'Sunset High'." -Um, what?

"Everything in this article requires sources. Except for mundane indisputable stuff like the name of the superintendent and the names of the schools, those sources need to be independent of the school district." -As far as I can tell, I did that. —Naddruf (talk ~ contribs) 17:54, 14 October 2019 (UTC)

Naddruf, if you don't want help fine. There is no school named "Sunset High" in this or any school district. Use the proper name for the school. Charter schools are generally independent of school districts. Please provide clarification or citation. You haven't looked at very many articles if you think using NCES isn't usual. But yet you, the newer user, wants to tell me, the veteran editor with more experience on US school articles than just about any editor here, you're right. If you cannot see the problem with that, fine. You continue to trundle on as a solo in a collaborative environment. You'll do just fine. Lol. John from Idegon (talk) 18:11, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
And like most new editors that know everything you've cited no reliable secondary sources to show notability. If you want an explanation for that, ask at Teahouse. Bye. John from Idegon (talk) 18:13, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
WP:AGF, WP:Civility. Now when did I say I "didn't want help"? The process of writing wiki articles includes making improvements to them, not just rejecting them. It's not very collaborative to treat others this way.
Now about the issues: when you say there is "no school named Sunset High", are you trying to tell me that all the schools need to say "School" after them, so it would say "Sunset High School" instead? I took out the charter schools. Which sources on that article are not good enough? Or are you just saying that a school district has to have books or news articles written about it for it to be notable? One example of a news article was the page talking about the high truancy rate. Additionally, I don't see why NCES is inherently better than cde.ca.gov. And I don't know how to add citations to the infobox.—Naddruf (talk ~ contribs) 18:26, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
Naddruf, The National Center for Education Statistics is the standard statistical entity for all public schools in the United States, and should be prioritized over any state body; it is briefly listed in the guidelines of WikiProject Schools. Statistical bodies at the state and district level can (and should) be used to supplement NCES, but consistency across WikiProjects is important. You should include the NCES ID in the the school or district infobox using Template:NCES School ID or Template:NCES District ID. Hope that helps, have a good day! 2019 US Banknote Contest

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

Newly created middle school

Hi John, it's been a while, hope things are well. So I came across this newly created middle school - created directly in mainspace from the creator's sandbox per the first edit summary. It uses an establishment plaque image on Commons as the reference for when the school was established, unnecessary class times and an unsourced list of classes offered. I'll leave this to you if that's ok, maybe draftify or redirect? Please let me know, thank you Steven (Editor) (talk) 00:42, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

Nevermind, I've moved it manually to draft space Steven (Editor) (talk) 00:02, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay Steven (Editor). Yea, that probably wasn't ideal. The subject is non notable. No sense in prolonging the editor's agony. Redirect would be best, deletion next. John from Idegon (talk) 00:06, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
It's ok John, and yeah I should have redirected it instead ah. I know it's non-notable but I'm curious to see what the creators plan is as they have now created an elementary school article at their username -I've gone and added a draft tag as I think the user may do the same again and create it directly in mainspace, hopefully it will deter them but may have to put a notice on their talk page Steven (Editor) (talk) 00:43, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

Turd-polisher Extrodinare Award

Turd Polisher Extraordinaire Barnstar
At a recent RfA a term was used to descibe editors that fix or "polish" articles that have been left behind by novice editors---Turd Polisher. It was not meant as a derogatory or slanderous term as it relates to the polisher. The malapropism, turd, is used to describe the article that was left behind to rot in the field like last years soybean crop. In no way was the term "turd" meant to malign any editor, like yourself, who does the polishing. Have a Happy and Prosperous Autumn season, old friend!. ―Buster7  17:42, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

"Unsourced" filmography

Hi, if you want to go ahead and remove "unsourced" filmography from pages, you might want to get to work on the hundreds of thousands of actor/actress credits with filmographies then. In other words, don't just remove parts of articles because you don't think it should be there. Familiarise yourself with the way pages are. Thank you, Solar Dragon (talk) 16:58, 1 November 2019 (UTC)

Nope. I will not be changing any other articles and if you add that unsourced crap back again, you'll go to a noticeboard. How can you do something for 12 years and still be totally ignorant? John from Idegon (talk) 17:27, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
Sure, go to the noticeboard then. Then they'll side with me against you. Good luck. Solar Dragon (talk) 23:08, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
