I think your article is really great! It is organized and structured in a way that clearly and concisely leads the reader through Jones' life and career. One thing I would suggest is to just go through the article once your done with your edits and screen for subjective language when describing aspects of her career. I noticed a few words here and there, so a read through for that could be helpful! I also noted that some of the things listed under her Awards and Honors are not attributed to the sources listed, but I figured you were still in the editing process, so just a reminder to cite those. Lastly, reminder to insert her age of death in the first sentence of the Career and Life section! All in all, it looks good! Was a pleasure to read. CDurgana (talk) 02:58, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your feedback! I have those subjective terms marked up to be fixed - thanks for the reminder! Gjkinney (talk) 00:36, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

Hi, Thanks for the heads up. I was adding content re: Lois Mailou Jones as part of a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at the Minneapolis Institute of Art last weekend. There may have been others working on it at the same time as part of that effort. I'm not planning to add anything further at this time and look forward to seeing your work once it's posted. Peer Review[edit]

Hi Gabrielle, I know you are still in the editing process but here are a few thoughts in the meantime. I like all of the facts presented in the overview but there might be a way to word them so that the facts flow together a little more seamlessly. In the "Career and Life section" you have *insert age* I'm sure this is a note to yourself just wanted to make sure you remember it's there. If there isn't a reason for the specific date periods that are used as headings I wonder if there is a better way to categorize the events in her life? Currently how it is broken up by periods of 10-15 years reads a little convoluted. The last sentence in the "1938-1954" section "In 1955 she unveiled portraits of the Haitian president and his wife commissioned by United States President Dwight D. Eisenhower.[1]" could be moved down to the "1955-1970" section. In the "Legacy" section an external link to her book might be helpful. Overall I love your article there are a lot of great facts and pieces of information. At this point I think continuing to organize the content so it is within the right section and a concise order is your biggest priority. I enjoyed reading it!

Thanks Sterling! The dates are how her biographies break her life down. I believe the "chunks" of time are that big because they break down major influences in her art which are mostly travel related i.e. her trip to Paris, Haiti, and Africa. I'm not sure how else to organize that section as when it was one big paragraph before it was difficult to read and find information. Do you have a suggestion?
