Transcendental number[edit]

Hi! You reverted my recent edit at Transcendental number. My reason for the edit was this: "possibly", as an adverb, refers to "transcendental", whereas "possible", as an adjectve, refers to "numbers". (At least, this is how these word categories are used in German). Clearly, the former is more appropriate: they might be, or might not be, transcendental; but it is beyond doubt that they are numbers. - Jochen Burghardt (talk) 15:29, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Transcendental number[edit]

I agree with the adverb-adjective thing. But to my American ear, "possibly transcendental numbers" just sound a bit weird, whereas, "possible trascendental numbers" doesn't sound weird. Perhaps something in my roots? Was raised with English, not German.

dino (talk) 21:18, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If it sounds better, keep it. I'm not a native English speaker, and the issue is a minor one, anyway. - Jochen Burghardt (talk) 09:26, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)[edit]

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for May 15[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Akigawa River, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Gawa (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:03, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of ref[edit]

At Tillamook Rock Light, you removed a reference because it was producing a 404 error. I restored it at tagged it with {{DL}} as explained in WP:KDL. Keeping the dead link is much more useful than removing it. In fact, I went and searched the website and found the article was still there at a different URL, so I repaired the Dead Link as well. This would not have been possible with just a {{cn}} tag. MB 01:44, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
