Pictures Again[edit]

Someone else is uploading the pictures this time. Its not me.--CyberGhostface 02:25, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Song characters[edit]

Brendan, thank you for your wonderful work on the Song of Ice and Fire pages. Keep it up! Arbor 19:08, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures[edit]

I asked Amok for his permission for his art and he said as long as he hasn't sold it to someone (specifically the pictures he drew for the new art book) then we are allowed to use them as long as we credit him.

Sorry. You can delete the pictures.--CyberGhostface 12:42, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Mr Moody,[edit]

My website does not discourage between age when reviews are added. Seeing that alot of children read JK Rowling- I do not see the problem with a link to a website with a review written by a teenager

Thank you for reverting the linkspam posted by this user, but please don't bite the newcomers to Wikipedia. Consider using the different user warning templates (see my user page for a table of different templates to use at different times), such as {{spam}}, {{spam2}}, or {{spam3}} in this case. Thank you, and please don't hesitate to ask me or any other users for any help in the future regarding vandalism. JHMM13 (T | C) 22:08, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, see you around! JHMM13 (T | C) 04:09, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Flamarande[edit]

Ok, no problem. I am quite finished for now, take a look at them. In the future, perhaps, I will add boxes for the Dothraki and the Faceless Men but I am hampered by the facts that the Dothraki don´t have any "main color" and motto, while the Faceless Men motto "Valar morghulis" is cool, but which colour should I use? What do you think? Flamarande 13:23, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Site editing[edit]

Hi,

the site that i am editing has been held back from the truth of the occurances in lebanon, i have studied the lebanese civil war and people seem to go in and write what they like without any knowledge of the full story. They seem to work off their biased views. talk:Lebanese_Forces

Re: I see what you mean, but there are details that have been placed that are not quite correct, i suppose i'll hold back the full details. But there are some incorrect details that the other user is placing in the site.

First one to welcome me[edit]

Thanks for the welcome, and for the tip. :) Resolution 03:36, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

bypassing redirects[edit]

Hi,

Just noticed your redirect bypass on the List of fictional rulers article and thought I'd just point out that it is unnecessary to do this. The guidelines at this page give some advice on this. Cheers -Localzuk (talk) 20:42, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know the feeling, I went through a load of articles and did the same thing not so long ago until someone told me about it :) Glad I could reduce your workload. -Localzuk (talk) 21:35, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ASOIAF pages discussion[edit]

Is ther eo article for House Frey?--AeomMai 23:53, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the freys however, played a rather large part of a storm of swords and a small role in the seige of riverrun in affc. they also represent a large amount of characters (over 100 frey knights!) It could benefit with an addition so i'll start the article and others can add as well.--AeomMai 22:20, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Terry Goodkind[edit]

Hi,

I'm the guy who edited the Terry Goodkind page. Don't know how to make my own user, don't really care. My issue is mostly with the choice to keep in the extended discussion and to take out the "Despite his claims to the contrary, Goodkind's works do fit with the conventions of the fantasy genre, most notably his use of magic, wizards and swords" statement.

>First of all, please don't simply remove other's comments from the talk page. Some consider it irritating, and it's really not necessary; when the page gets too long, it can be archived or refactored.

Sure, my bad. I don't know how to do it, and I don't really care to learn. But you can not tell me that all the back and forth between Mystar and everyone else is in any way relevant or useful. It's a bunch of personal attacks with virtually no reference to the article itself, or any reasoning behind the edits. The first time I tried to read it I ended up scrolling down through it looking for something interesting, and couldn't find it.

>As for your article edits, you're thinking in the right direction

Sarcastic thanks.

>but I do have concerns. It's a bit silly to remove the "bestselling author" mention, since he is one; a better source is necessary, and I'll add one shortly

Sure, but until you can find a better one, I think you're better off not having it. The author's personal webpage? That's not a source, that's propoganda.

>In the "Influence" section, the claim of preaching also needs a source; I'll tag it shortly. Again, I think Goodkind's own comments on his work are part of a good encyclopedic article on the man.

I think the kind of comments he makes are good for his personal webpage (which there is a link to, but it is not labelled as such - 2 links to the same content, with different urls?) but not here.

>It's not our responsibility to keep him from looking extreme, but to accurately reflect the verifiable facts about him. "Changed the face of fantasy" once more falls into the relevance of the author's opinions on the genesis and function of his work. Deleting his opinions is not good encyclopedic policy; they're as relevant to the article as any commentary.

By citing extreme opinions, we make him look extreme. And citing too many of his opinions turns it from a wikipedia entry into his personal webpage. I mean, 5/7 of the paragraphs that are there contain his opinions. It's great that he thinks highly of himself, but that's again for his webpage, not wiki.

>Your second paragraph about fitting conventions, while true, is not really our judgment to make, and smacks of POV. Brendan Moody 18:46, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Are you kidding me? The defining feature of fantasy (as opposed to historical fiction) is the use of magic! Him having magic and saying it's not fantasy is INSANE. Every fiction book in the world (barring Mein Kampf, Chariots of the Gods and anything by Graham Hanckock) is about people. What makes fantasy fantasy is magic. There's fantasy without dragons, elves, dwarves, presumably without swords, fantasy within sci-fi, but magic is what makes fantasy fantasy. That's not my point of view - OK, I suppose it is, but I think it's justified.

Anyway, I think that the page is very biased, will continue to be so, and whoever does most of the editing (Mystar?) is way too close to TG to be doing anything except adding verifiable links and pictures. Talk about POV!

I hated his first book and haven't read any more by the way, but the article annoyed me. Read any Steven Erikson? That's good stuff. The US covers are atrocious, like nightmare bad, but excellent content. Except The Bonehunters, didn't like that one. Anwyay, I don't care enough to bother editing TG anymore. Have fun.

If you don't care about further editing to improve the quality of the article, then I see little purpose in replying at length. Brendan Moody 19:44, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Would you be willing to be a participant in a Offical Mediation in regards to Mystar and the Terry Goodkind / Sword of Truth articles? NeoFreak 16:45, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your quick response! NeoFreak 16:50, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hope this is the right place to write. You say there's a consensus, but I only see the three of you constantly reverting a bunch of other people without giving any reason. That's why I reverted back to them. Also, the version you want has stuff missing so that Goodkind looks like less of a dick. That's biased! 20:59, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Capitalization?[edit]

I see that you removed my capitals for the "Tower of Joy" in the Eddard section; isn't it a proper name? It's also inconsitently spelt with upper case elsehwere in the article.Saralleine 21:48, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mediation Notice[edit]

A request for mediation has been filed with the Mediation Committee that lists you as a party. The Mediation Committee requires that all parties listed in a mediation must be notified of the mediation. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Terry Goodkind, and indicate whether you agree or refuse to mediate. If you are unfamiliar with mediation, please refer to Wikipedia:Mediation. There are only seven days for everyone to agree, so please check as soon as possible. - Happy Editing, Runch 15:56, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cosby[edit]

Numerous sections are uncited in that article and yet you only remove the criticism section. Thus I have to assume you're acting politically. So I'm afraid we've got an unfortunate war going on here.

Brendan, did you want to respond to this?

Civility Notice[edit]

To start of you're 100% right about that bigoted comment. I've tried so hard to reason, negotiate, calm, explain an even plead with Mystar to stop...well acting like Mystar. I'm done trying to deal with him, he doesn't listen to anyone and he's fanatical about the legitimacy of his errors. I noticed your comment on the personal attack intervension board and, with the exception of more informal and useless discussion and reasoning, I'm willing to help anyway I can to resolve this aptly labeled "nightmare". I'm at the end of my rope with this foolishness. NeoFreak 17:31, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sick of Mystar[edit]

Hi Moody, I'm soliciting comments regarding Mystar, he's really pissing me off and I'm sick of it. I'm putting in a request for comments in a bit, in the mean time I'm soliciting people who've been pissed off by him in the past. If you're willing to have any input, I'm asking for help. Both people involved are scrutinized, so if there are comments where I've pissed you off or made stupid comments, I would also like those - they'll help me improve my conduct. I'm also posting this on other people's page, check my contribs for this chunk of time. WLU 22:52, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm sorry it's been awhile, and I'm not sure if all of you are still interested in formal mediation, but I recently agreed to mediate that case. Please either accept or reject me as a mediator there, and if you accept, please let me know if you would prefer public or private mediation. If it's a stale issue, just say so. Hi. Just wondering how you know Dora. I stumbled on the page creation in my New Page patrolling and was really surprised to see the name. I am a old work acquaintance of her husband. Well, I'll watch the page and throw in the stuff that I know when I think of it. I should give them a write anyways now that I'm thinking about it (haven't seen Kendrick in a year or so). I'll let them know that someone thought enough of her award-winning work to add her to WP. ju66l3r 01:31, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spoilers[edit]

Hey, I noticed you removed a entry into the List of characters in A Song of Ice and Fire article with the reason that it was a spoiler. Is there any other reason because as far as I know there is no reson to exclude things based on this. NeoFreak 20:23, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

TrekBBS Deletion Review[edit]

Uh...[edit]

Please consider being a little bit less patronizing in your admonitions to new users. I'm not sure where else you've used what I assume is a template of yours, but this is what brought me to your talk page. It comes very close to a violation of WP:BITE. Category deletion discussion[edit]

Since you at least once used Category:People opposed to fan fiction, which was replaced by Category:Creators who do not acquiesce to fan fiction, and since the latter is now being considered for deletion (leaving no replacement category), you might want to comment to the deletion discussion. —SlamDiego 03:40, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Simpsons[edit]

Hi, I don't kow if you're a Simpsons fan or just somebody who hates trivia, but I noticed that you have been cleaning up a number of season 1 episode pages. There is a drive to get Season 1 to FT status, although it is a little dormant, and if you would be interested in helping, it would be appreciated. Thanks for the time, Scorpion0422 23:28, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome aboard. Your help is MUCH appreciated. Myself and User:Gran2 are the only really active people that are left, and we will help as much as we can (although I am going away for 8 days starting tomorrow). We've kinda moved past season 1 (we have 4 current GACs that are not season 1), but when I get back from my trip, I'll start doing season 1 eps again. -- Scorpion0422 06:09, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

criticism song of ice and fire[edit]

Hello Brendan,

The criticism page added to a song of ice and fire is because the whole wikipedia article about the series reads not as a neutral article but as a glorification of all 4 novels while there has been a significant backlash on the fourth novel. That's what the term c'riticism' stands for. I linked to the Barnes and Nobles website where readers can vote for the book. I don't see what I can do more than that, unless it is looking up a negative review of the book by someone 'respected'. I can also leave all the links and the 'citation needed' comments if you'd prefer.

Or, if you prefer, feel free to look up other negative reviews that you feel are worthy to link to. I am pretty positive you will find some. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 141.227.1.1 (talk) 12:21, August 21, 2007 (UTC)

Wizard's Ultimate rule?[edit]

Hi Brendan,

Do you know if this section is valid, or a violation of WP:OR? I've not read the books, but from what limited knowledge I have, the acutal rule isn't stated. The explanation doesn't seem to justify it, but I could be wrong. WLU (talk) 21:24, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe I'm hands off due to an arb hearing, so I'm not going to be editing the page. I left a note on the person who added it's talk page pointing to WP:OR and WP:SYNTH, but this assumes the person is interested in reading and applying the policy. However, most of the other rules quote parts of the book that explicitly back them up, while this one is kinda irrelevant.
Also, the rules were pasted on Terry Goodkind, I don't know if you wanted to do anything about it. In my mind the page should discuss the author, not his works, and there's extensive linking to other pages anyway. At minimum, per MOS:CAPS I'd say it should be Wizard's rules, not Rules, and Wizard's Rule should be moved to Wizard's rules. However, I a) can't edit the pages and b) don't care that much.
You may also praise me for replacing the Storm of Swords cover to A Song of Ice and Fire page :) WLU (talk) 23:01, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spur Posse[edit]

I restored the information regarding the origin of the name of the group "Spur Posse". It's well documented in at least one of the references, the Sudan Faludi book. Wtroopwept (talk) 21:28, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Goodkind favour?[edit]

Hi Brendan,

I'm barred from editing Goodkind's page, regarding this edit, could you replace it with the original source? It appears to be a copy and paste from another site (here is the original). Forum postings are generally not acceptable, and in this case we have the original source anyway. Thanks, WLU (talk) 12:28, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
