The 821st Main Space Intelligence Centre (Russian: Главный центр разведки космической обстановки, tr. GTsRKO [2]) is the Russian space surveillance network [...]. It has headquarters in the townlet of Noginsk-9 near Noginsk outside Moscow and is part of the Space Command of the Russian Aerospace Defence Forces.[3] The centre receives intelligence from a network of reporting stations which includes the Russian missile attack early warning network as well as some stations only used for space surveillance.
The centre[edit]
The centre, previously known as TsKKP (Цккп) from Russian: Центр контроля космического пространства, tr. Tsentr kontrolya kosmicheskogo prostranstva meaning centre for space monitoring, is located in Noginsk-9, in Moscow Oblast.
Surveillance network[edit]
The network originates from the Soviet Union and is often known by its Russian initials SKKP (сккп) from Russian: Система контроля космического пространства, tr. Sistema kontrolya kosmicheskogo prostranstva, the space control system. [1]

As of 2012 the Russian space surveillance network consists of the following facilities:

Organisational structure[edit]
The space surveillance network was part of the Soviet Air Defences, the PVO and was incorporated as part of the missile defence and space defence troops.
In 1998 SKKP became part of the missile and space defence organisation ракетно-космической обороны (RKO) together with missile warning network SPRN and the anti-missile troops.[4] In 2001 these services became part of the newly founded Space Troops, and were incorporated as the 3rd Independent Missile and Space Defense Army.[1]
The Main Space Intelligence Centre was formed on 1 December 2009 and since December 2011 it has been part of the Space Command of the Russian Aerospace Defence Forces, together with facilities such as the 820th Main Centre for Missile Attack Warning and 153rd Titov Main Space Testing Centre.[1]
