Smallest country with its own defense force

Hi everyone, am I the only one who noticed that St. Kitss and Nevis is the smallest country (by area) in the world with its own defense force, not supported/protected by any other country or not having defense for at all? For instance, smaller countries below are supported by other countries: - Marshall Islands, by United States - Liechtenstein, no army, only police force - San Marino, by Italy - Tuvalu, no army, only police force. - Nauru, by Australia - Monaco, by France - Vatican city, by Italy

Effects of Hurricane Georges

The article currently states: "In late September 1998, Hurricane Georges caused approximately $445 million in damages and limited GDP growth for the year." $445 million in damages to a nation of 40,000 people, and the only effect was "limited GDP growth"? (The article on Economy of Saint Kitts and Nevis describes it as a "sharp slowdown.") Isn't this something of an understatement? Could someone who knows more about the hurricane's effects rephrase and expand this part of the article? --LostLeviathan 04:34, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

The correct is Kittitians ("Kit-tish-an"), or Nevisians("Nee-vee-sion"), so say my friends from both isles and also as corroborated on ( http://www.gov.kn/default.asp?PageIdentifier=59#message )

Does anyone know the act/amendment in 1987-1988 that had officially changed "St. Christopher" to "St. Kitts"?

Does anyone remember the exact act or amendment number that supposedly officially changed the name "St. Christopher" to "St. Kitts" in 1988 I think it was ?

I think this same act or amendment was the instrument that officially changed the country's name from "St. Christopher and Nevis" at the UN[] and the Commonwealth of Nations etc. instead to being listed as "St. Kitts and Nevis". Supposedly it superceded the 1983 constitution of independence. From what I researched so far, the United Nations gives the date of December 28th, 1986 when the official name listed with that organisation was changed from Saint Christopher and Nevis to Saint Kitts and Nevis. Are the maps for this page the best WP has to offer? You would think that after all of these years WP would by now have a standard set of quality maps for editors to use. The map in the info box is a sorry excuse and is barely discernible, even in full view its no bigger than a penny-candy wrapper. You start with the redundancy of it being caribbean, then praise the programme (which you spell the american way in a country that is still a commonwealth realm) calling it old, "legitimate", and internationally accepted. The process is simply you writing something for an encyclopaedia and not for advertisment. The fact you are writing this for "the English Speaking audience who wants to invest in st. kitts" shows that it is probably information which doesn't belong here at all. Hello there. I think that the inclusion of this section on Citizenship by Investment is valid and good. St. Kitts and Nevis is one of only a few countries that offer such a unique program that basically offers very quick citizenship via a cash donation or via an investment in real estate.

However, I would make two changes.

First, as the St. Kitts and Nevis government refers to this official program as the "Citizenship by Investment Program" I feel that entitling this section by that name would be more appropriate. I do not see a need to refer to it as "Economic Citizenship Investment" especially when that is a rather confusing title. Economic citizenship? That doesn't make sense. I think that we can just use the official name of "Citizenship by Investment Program" that the government uses.

Second, I think that the notes (websites linked to) within this section are borderline advertising and surely not the best choice. For starters, the links refer readers to 3rd party companies instead of directly to the government's dedicated and official Citizen by Investment Unit website. Surely the government's own website that describes this program is the best option - and is more thorough and unbiased. As well, these 3rd party companies that ARE linked to are coming across as advertising themselves (promoting themselves) vs. being objective. Bias in this section was already mentioned by another person (see above) and should be examined more closely. Again, it appears as promoting a business vs. being neutral. One of the two companies referenced to sells real estate (Kittitian Hill) and the other is an attorney's office. The real estate office indeed works closely with the St. Kitts and Nevis government when it comes to this program. However, why link to a for-profit real estate company when you could refer people to the government's official website instead? There are MANY real estate companies that work with the government concerning this program. Kittitian Hill comes across as advertising their own real estate development via Wikipedia if we only link to their website vs. to the government site. In fact, the government's website clearly says, "WARNING! Be advised that any advertising concerning the Citizenship by Investment Programme of St Kitts and Nevis is strictly prohibited. Developers and Service Providers are restricted to only stating that they are approved under the Citizenship by Investment Programme and by the provision of a link to the website ciu.gov.kn." Thus, I think that the government is against any type of bias or self-promotion when it comes to this program. As well, the attorney's office that is linked to is not even authorized by the St. Kitts and Nevis government to assist with this program. The attorneys are in Pakistan as far as I can tell. Again, the government website is very informative and is 100% neutral. Linking to 3rd party (for profit) companies only looks like these companies are attempting to promote themselves. All links and references in this section should direct readers to a neutral and original source, namely the government's official website that describes this program in detail.

I just created Category:1961 establishments in Saint Kitts and Nevis as well as the associated category hierarchy to connect with the wider scheme already in place for other nations. Now, after having done this I came to learn that this sovereign nation wasn't actually established until 1983. I'm not quote sure what would be the best way to deal with this. I think this phrase in the article gets it the wrong way round:

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Saint Kitts and Nevis's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version.
