Being bold and tagging this for WP USSL. While a good enough sample of available sources state that Wickersham was elected to the Washington House of Representatives in 1898, the more detailed sources present a conflict as to whether he was actually elected or only nominated. I suspect that the apportionment scheme or other aspects of the electoral process were vastly different from today, based on what I've read, and this could be a factor in trying to straighten that out. Also, I could have swore that I previously brought up the issue of his full name. Maybe it's on another talk page or my sandbox. At any rate, sources also favor strictly James Wickersham. Scattered sources mention a variety of middle initials. I had yet to come across any mention of a middle name until just now. Ancestry.com contains a record for James Lessinger Wickersham 1857–1939 of Patoka, Illinois. There's zero attribution, but there are links to various and sundry records. A record of his 1928 marriage to Grace Vrooman Bishop lists him as James Wendell Wickersham. So this may take some effort to straighten out. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 06:16, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Mules[edit]

I love that his mules are named in this article. I also love that they have the average human names "Mark" and "Hannah." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mayawagon (talkcontribs) 19:17, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I missed that. Those names were most likely given in tribute to Mark Hanna. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 22:07, 4 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
