Article started[edit]

The lede is the sumary of the article. So before putting up "citation needed" or similar, read the article - it should be covered there. And yes, in a few days, I will probably make corrections and additions as needed. As always, I welcome positive and constructive input. And please, lets be civil. Personal salvation is the antithesis of Collective salvation. The article on Salvation provides the general concept but is not "Christian" focused. Merge or rename[edit]

This article should be merged into Christian soteriology or renamed to Christian salvation (or the like). şṗøʀĸşṗøʀĸ: τᴀʟĸ 19:20, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have no objection to eventually merging this into an article (when written) on Christian salvation since it is the key element of Christian salvation. Provided that Christian Salvation is not merged with the "Christian study of salvation" or Christian soteriology.
I do object if Personal salvation is merged with the generic article Salvation. Jrcrin001 (talk) 21:09, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There is no "merge into Christian salvation" since that article does not exsist. The best article on the Christian salvation topic is this article; "Personal salvation" seems to have been made entirely from the Christianity secion of the Salvation article. If you want a Christian salvation article to happen, the 1st step is to rename this to "Christian salvation." If you see any reason to not do this, then let us know. şṗøʀĸşṗøʀĸ: τᴀʟĸ 01:49, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jargon explanation[edit]

I Think a great deal of the jargon in this article which is restricted to Christianity or a few sects of Christianity could stand to be explained in greater detail here, or linked out to further explanation. I went to this article looking for an explanation of the difference between individual salvation and personal salvation, and didn't find it. Much of the language didn't make sense to me, as someone not raised in Protestant Christianity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KeithAnselm5 (talkcontribs) 14:41, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would enjoy making this more clear. Can you tell me, in your view, what is the area or words of greatest need?
The short answer to to individual salvation vs. personal salvation is that there is no difference. If you say more on why you want to know, I might be able to write more in answer. şṗøʀĸşṗøʀĸ: τᴀʟĸ 21:21, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think he meant Individual salvation versus Collective salvation. 75.14.211.41 (talk) 19:17, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite[edit]

Based on the above and work by User:Editor2020, I tried to clarify terms and Western Christian centric beliefs that lead to the term Christian or Individual Salvation. This is why the section on Christian Statements of belief was restored because it shows a progression of acceptance toward Christian salvation. There is a need to stress that Christian salvation is not a form of collective salvation. One is the opposite of the other. If this is acceptable, then the maintenance tag can be removed. Eliminate[edit]

Why does this article exist at all? The content reflects an absurdly evangelical Protestant bias and, as many other commenters have pointed out, is still jargon-filled. The Christianity section of the main Salvation article is much more comprehensive, gives historical views on the subject, and is written with a more neutral voice. This article adds nothing.
