Hello everyone! I just wanted to let you know that I've opened a new discussion on J.League's talk page, discussing possible changes to season schedules and the current state of the article itself. It should be of special interest to the Sport task force of this WikiProject.

Any type of advice would be greatly appreciated!

Asking for review (Tottori Jōhoku High School)[edit]

Hi, I wrote an article (since transferred to draft) about Tottori Jōhoku High School. The draft has been awaiting review for 3 months now, so I was wondering if anyone here could drop by to even give their opinion on it. Thanks - OtharLuin (talk) 09:27, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is an issue for the talk page of Careless Whisper, not the Japan Wikiproject. Canterbury Tail talk 12:58, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Jumpei Hayakawa[edit]

Hello everyone! I just wanted to ask if there's anyone willing to take a look at this article I've just created, please: it's the first Japan-related page I've created since joining the project, as well as the first article I've ever written almost exclusively out of sources in Japanese (thank you, automatic translator...), so I'd like to get some feedback and advice.

Asian Australians WikiProject[edit]

Hi,

I am looking for members to join WikiProject Council/Proposals/Asian Australians.

I figured that some members of WikiProject Japan might want to help contribute to the proposed WikiProject.

Let me know if you are interested!

Please help me for Draft:Yasushi Kawakami[edit]

Excuse me. Please help me. Draft:Yasushi Kawakami (ja:川上靖) is the first article I created. But it has not been accepted. Could you improve this draft? He is the first Japanese footballer to play in Argentine league and the technical director of the Argentina women's national football team from 1999 to 2012. Thanks, Jumping Frog Man (talk) 15:09, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jumping Frog Man As @CurryTime7-24 suggested, I think you should try to retrieve at least one or two more good sources, aside of Clarín and Olé, and avoid trivial references. Oltrepier (talk) 09:30, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Let me try and see what I can find. There may be good coverage in Japanese sources that can be used for your article. —CurryTime7-24 (talk) 15:22, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit-warring on oyama (onnagata)[edit]

Everyone knows onnagata (女形), a female kabuki role played by a man, but many people (including me, a couple of hours ago) do not know that it can also be read oyama. An IP removed the entry from Oyama (disambiguation page), then tried to remove the relevant text from Onnagata by simply deleting every occurrence of 'oyama', resulting in a mangled template and incoherence. I restored the Oyama page, and started to rewrite the relevant bits of Onnagata, but the IP simply reverts everything. Can someone else please have a look. (Incidentally, the entry in Daijirin is quite a satisfactory account; can someone remind me how to quote that as a reference.) Thanks Imaginatorium (talk) 05:46, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Independent shrines has been nominated for discussion[edit]

Category:Independent shrines has been nominated for possible deletion, merging, or renaming. A discussion is taking place to decide whether this proposal complies with the categorization guidelines. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the categories for discussion page. Thank you. The CfD requires attention of someone knowledgable on Japanese temples and shrines. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 03:08, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Kōshi or kōshijima (Japanese tartan/plaid)[edit]

After some 2021 argumentation (not involving me) at Talk:Tartan about the article being to Scotland-specific, I've started a Tartan#In other cultures section with a Tartan#Japanese kōshi subsection. I was kind of surprised there was not already an article or at least a section on this element of Japanese textile and clothing history which goes back to at least the Edo period. The section definitely needs work, as it is using not-too-great sources (all that I could find). It would benefit from expert source material (which is probably going to be in Japanese and will need a Japanese-fluent editor to parse it). In the interim, I've redirected relevant terms to this section when possible and disambiguated when not. PS: I have used simple {{lang}} markup; I know some prefer more complex templates; feel free to re-markup as needed.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  00:36, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The general idea of a pattern with crossing lines has a word in most languages, I'm sure, but I doubt many of them are separate encyclopedia topics. As far as I know, in Japanese this is just a pattern without any particular cultural meaning. The direct translation of "tartan" in Japanese is "kōshi moyō" (lattice pattern), and there does not appear to be an article on the Japanese version on the Japanese Wikipedia (the closest equivalent article corresponds to our article on Stripe (pattern)). The individual names in the subsection on the Tartan page are basically descriptive rather than "titles" (misuji literally means three lines, futasuji literally means two lines, ō- means large, and ko- means small). The reference on the Scholten site... I don't know. "The grid motif was associated with strength; the larger the stripes, the greater the power" looks a bit like they are just trying their best to sell the print. 2007 Komae city assembly election[edit]

I was surprised to discover that there's an article on 2007 Komae city assembly election, but then unsurprised to find that it has minimal text. For anyone reading this who's unfamiliar with -shi or the western Tokyo burbs, "Komae city" is the standard translation of Komae-shi, shi has little in common with "city" in a European context, and Komae is an unremarkable patch of suburbia. The election seems to have been unremarkable. Or am I missing something? -- Hoary (talk) 12:39, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you think it's non-notable, feel free to WP:PROD it. Canterbury Tail talk 15:08, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Canterbury Tail. Some might claim that, as it's about an election that verifiably took place, it doesn't qualify for prodding. AfD very often seems a waste of time and effort; but for your !voting pleasure: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2007 Komae city assembly election. -- Hoary (talk) 21:56, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Asking for review (Saitama Sakae High School)[edit]

Just as I asked for proofreading on my article about Tottori Jōhoku High School, I'm also writing an article in my sandbox about Saitama Sakae High School in Japan (also known for its sports clubs). I was wondering if anyone here could drop by to give their opinion on it. - OtharLuin (talk) 09:27, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
