How best to disambiguate page name of CT neighborhoods

Disambiguation of page names for CT neighborhoods appears to vary greatly - some examples below:

The Wikipedia-wide usual way of disambiguation is to use a term in parenthesis that best differentiates it from other topics having the same name. If there are no other articles having the same name, no disambiguation is needed. See [1] and [2] for more information on the conventions used for neighborhoods in US cities. Basically there are two ways of titling neighborhoods of US cities: (1) "neighborhood, city, state" or (2) "neighborhood (city)"/"neighborhood (city, state)". The second case is the one currently used in Connecticut (e.g. Saugatuck and Lime Rock). In the case of Moodus, the only naming conflict is with a fictional character so the use of "(village)" as the disambiguator is entirely appropriate. In the case of Aspectuck, there are no other similarly named articles so no disambiguation is needed. The case of Silvermine is unusual in that it is a neighborhood located in three municipalities so it is named as a distinct community (i.e. "community, state"). Canaan village in North Canaan town needs to be distinguished from Canaan town and the "(CDP)" is currently the term that is used since it is also a CDP. So in short, there is no inconsistency here. It follows what most articles in Wikipedia do for disambiguation. --Polaron | Talk 18:07, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

So then why is Lime Rock (Salisbury, Connecticut) not titled Lime Rock (neighborhood) or Lime Rock (Lakeville) or Lime Rock (Salisbury)? Or why is Saugatuck (Westport) not titled Saugatuck (neighborhood) or Saugatuck (Westport, Connecticut)? Pick one way that works for most if not all applications and apply it uniformly.Gjs238 (talk) 01:12, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Look at the naming conflicts. There is a Saugatuck in Michigan and a Lime Rock in Rhode Island so these places need to be disambiguated by the containing place. Admittedly, Lime Rock can be at "Lime Rock (Salisbury)". The only issue is Salisbury is not a particularly well-known town. George Comer

Hello. I just created an article on the East Haddam whaler, George Comer. There are several online references to the fact that he was a member of the Connecticut "State Legislature" after he retired from polar exploration, but I can't find a government document that places him in the State Senate or State House. Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. Image needs replacement - Sleeping Giant (Connecticut)

Hello all...

An image used in the article, specifically Image:Gianttower.jpg, has a little bit of a licensing issue. The image was uploaded back when the rules around image uploading were less restrictive. It is presumed that the uploader was willing to license the picture under the GFDL license but was not clear in that regard. As such, the image, while not at risk of deletion, is likely not clearly licensed to allow for free use in any future use of this article. If anyone has an image that can replace this, or can go take one and upload it, it would be best.

Colonial Governor, 1708-1724

I found the article on Nathan Gold, which claims he was Governor of Connecticut between 1708 and 1724. But the List of colonial governors of Connecticut gives Gurdon Saltonstall for the same era. Neither article has any sources. Help would be appreciated. Huon (talk) 14:39, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

New York City Wikipedian Meetup November 16

In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, finalize and approve bylaws, interact with representatives from the Software Freedom Law Center, and hold salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects (see the June meeting's minutes and the September meeting's minutes).

We'll also review our recent Wikis Take Manhattan event, and make preparations for our exciting successor Wikipedia ♥ Art bonanza, being planned with the Brooklyn Museum for February.

In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and (weather permitting) hold a late-night astronomy event at Columbia's telescopes.

Connecticut articles needing geographic coordinates

0 articles in Category:Connecticut articles missing geocoordinate data do not have geographic coordinates. Coords are useful for making the article appear on Google Maps & many other mapping services; and they allow our users to click through to see the article subject location on a map. There's a short guide to on how to add geocodes to articles ... it really is very easy to do.
