So where are we going with this? Should we start making additions to the temporary project page in user space given above? Should we start tagging articles' talk pages with {{WikiProject Connecticut}}? Just be bold, this notice should be removed and the user page should be moved to Wikipedia:WikiProject Connecticut, there the page can be expanded and set up to the project's liking. I would say be bold here, once its up its easier to attract new members. Post a notice at the Community Portal under new projects. A concentrated effort to recruit new members could be made utilizing Category:Wikipedians in Connecticut. Good luck and I hope that helps. Going "Live"

I took the suggestion of A mcmurray (talk · contribs) and moved the project page out of user space. I've updated the templates to point to the new page, and I think I'll give the servers some more time to do their thing before I start slapping it up on more talk pages. I'll have to study how some of the other state projects are set up, but I'm sure we can all just start running with the obvious tasks anyways. Assessment section

Created an Assessment page, and added the stats table that's automatically regenerated every day (or so) by the assessment-bot. Pretty it up as needed, please; just wanted to create something that could be expanded. --Ebyabe 14:45, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Photo request

Looking for any Connecticut photographers willing to shoot and upload to Commons for Connected farm, as parts of northern Connecticut seems to be one of the primary locales for such style of home, at least according to the definitive study on connected farm distribution, which is, admittedly, old. Comment on Fairfield County?

I think all the county articles need some work, though I certainly would not insist that they be completely consistent. However there is a section on the Klan in Fairfield County that an editor has repeatedly added. If you don't mind taking a look and leaving a note on the talk page Talk:Fairfield County, Connecticut, it'd be much appreciated. Jd2718 00:16, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

The content was moved to History of Connecticut. One editor is unhappy about that move, but the clear consensus on talk is that is does not belong on the county page. Cmprince 01:47, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Comments requested regarding CDP articles

Wikipedia has articles on census designated places (CDPs). The ones for Connecticut can be found in Category:Census-designated places in Connecticut. My view is that articles for CDPs that refer to the town center of a town do not merit a separate article as all they would have are the Census Bureau's statistics. For example, does Central Manchester, Connecticut need to exist separately from Manchester, Connecticut? If these statistics for the town center is deemed important that people will want to know them separately from those of the entire town, a section in the town article may be a more appropriate venue. CDP articles for well-established villages should, of course, remain as separate articles. Comments regarding how we should treat Connecticut CDP articles for town centers would be appreciated. --Polaron | Talk 23:09, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

I agree and would tend to go a tad further. I think that all of the CDPs that have no substantial content beyond the census stats should be merged into a section of their parent towns' articles. They're obviously being neglected as they are and might actually get developed enough to be split back off in the future if they're where people will see them. Articles such as Rockville or Willimantic are well developed to remain on their own, and Georgetown doesn't have a particular town to be merged into. In general, though, most of the CDPs will fit nicely into their parent towns' articles until they're developed enough to be split back off. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 23:51, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Newport

I came across Newport, Connecticut a little bit ago and cleaned it up somewhat. I can't quite find where it would be on a map, or what kind of settlement it is; would someone here take care of it? Nyttend 17:15, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

I am unaware of such a settlement. It is not listed in the principal communities list of the DECD. I am actually inclined to believe this is a hoax. Hopefully people from the Hartford area know better. --Polaron | Talk 18:44, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

NHLs and NRHPs in CT

There's a List of National Historic Landmarks in Connecticut article which can use help editing descriptions of the 59 separate National Historic Landmarks in CT. Many of the 59 need photos. There is also a List of Registered Historic Places in Connecticut that includes all of the NHLs and many more NRHPs that are not NHLs.
