This template is used for a tool on the Toolserver. The URL of the Tool is

http://toolserver.org/~geohack/skyhack.php

This tool is linked on more than 2000 (!) Pages in the german WP. The script has been moved before. maybe, important informations to prevent deleting have been lost at that time. Antonsusi (talk) 18:57, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

I don't think, that "two weeks ago" is a well argument for "Not done" (without a view on my arguments) , when that weeks are at the end of a year (over christmas, where users are in holyday or so). The deletion request was simply not seen from me or other user of the german WP. Also, therefore there has not been a really discussion, only a request and a decide later. The damaging of a tool is a well argument for undeleting. You and any other admin here can see easyly even more than two weeks later, that this deletion was an error. Antonsusi (talk) 20:17, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
  • The template was deleted based on a discussion where no one other than the nominator participated, on the (apparently mistaken) assertion that it is unused. In my opinion, it should simply be restored as useful to some and harmless to all. That being said, since it's used by 'all projects', wouldn't it make more sense to be placed at meta? –xenotalk 20:38, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

That needs an adjust of the PHP-script on the toolserver and I've no access to the script. The last user, that has made an edit (when I remember well), was User:Kolossos. I can ask him, but as first step the template shoudt be undeleted to make the tool as quickly as possible usable. The next step is an adjusting of the script to use annother template page. Antonsusi (talk) 22:21, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

  • Note: I've provisionally restored this template, as it is being actively used for the betterment of Wikimedia projects. I still think it should be migrated over to meta, but for now it should not be deleted. –xenotalk 14:04, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
I wish it weren't the case, but bureaucracy is big enough here that I fear that people will object that Xeno's comment above makes him/her involved. For that reason, I redeleted the template and immediately restored it, since I've never done anything with it before nor even mentioned it in my writing. Better to obviate possible complaints than to have to face them after they're made. Nyttend (talk) 03:02, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Grepolis

I strongly believe that page should not be deleted. In my opinion the A7 is not applicable for this case, since the mentioned article is as important (or unimportant) as the Travian, Freeciv.net, Evony or any other game from the List_of_multiplayer_browser_games. With the logic every article from List_of_multiplayer_browser_games should be given A7 and deleted.

Additionally it appears that the article has been created and deleted 3 more times in the past, which does not make sense. -LevanJugheli (talk) 05:40, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Just a comment — two of the three earlier deletions were G7 (author-requested deletion), so only the first deletion (also an A7) is really debateable. Nyttend (talk) 02:50, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, but could not figure out how to contact admin directly. Admin removed our company's wiki page based on copyright violations, but alleged voilation was descriptive text of our company from our website. We can easily modify descriptive text on Wikipedia to avoid exact duplication of text on our website if that addresses Wikipedia's concern, but entire Fenwick & West wiki page should not have been deleted. -Rkshimako (talk) 15:41, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

So, I recreated it again. And why was the reason that it was vandalised, Yeah, I may say that I re-created it, but I didn't vandalised. Ultimatum (American band)

Contrary to some opinions, this is an important band that does have a dedicated fan base. A simple google search should be sufficient to show that this is a legitimate band that does warrant a wikipedia page. It was not for self promotion or about a band with releases on "unimportant indie labels". In fact, their albums are widely distributed and are readily available and quite easy to obtain on many websites, most notably Amazon. Please restore this page as soon as possible. -Chilejay7 (talk) 02:30, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Ultimatum (American band) - second request

Hello, I am a Wikipedia viewer and use the site quite often. I am not a moderator and never edit any page, so forgive me if I am doing this incorrectly. I noticed that the Ultimatum (band) page for the American Heavy Metal Band, Ultimatum was deleted. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ultimatum_%28American_band%29 Apparently the band was taken down because, "WP:MUSIC#5 - "Has released two or more albums on a major label or on one of the more important indie labels."

Ultimatum have released records on Massacre Records, Rowe Productions and Retroactive Records. Anyone with even the remotest knowledge of the Christian metal genre which they are a part of would know that these are well known and respected labels. Retroactive Records is an active label with a roster that includes some very well known names in the CCM and Christian Metal genre including Deliverance, Bride, Saint, among many others. Rowe Productions was a label with major U.S. distribution through the Diamante Music Group. To say these are not an "important indie labels" would be an poor judgment call or show clear ignorance of the music genre.

As well, the band has a 20 year history, has performed all over the country and have been on many, many compilation albums on several different labels. They have five full lengths albums out and an EP. If the administrators that deleted the band are not familiar with Christian metal, then I respectfully ask that they not make judgement calls on what "important indie labels" are for that genre.

A quick search on Google under Ultimatum metal, Ultimatum Christian metal, Ultimatum heavy metal, or any similar title reveals a long list of articles and photos, including articles for the Associated Press: http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=71JIAAAAIBAJ&sjid=IP4DAAAAIBAJ&pg=1765,9477515&dq=scott-waters+ultimatum&hl=en

Ultimatum is included in the well known printed book Collector's Guide to Heavy Metal by Martin Popoff, as well as just about every heavy metal website out there including such well known sites as Metal-Archives, BNRMetal, nolifetilmetal.com, AllMusic.com, Amazon.com, etc. Ultimatum has been featured on the cover of HM Magazine as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hm_magazine

Okay, there is also the reason of creating hoaxes, why do you call it a hoax? The singer is real, it had already released 2 singles and is actually signed by a record label. -Jfskdfjksdfhjksd (talk) 09:13, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

ColorGHear

reasoning -Goanna300 (talk) 23:04, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

Dear Administrators, While I am a national journalist with Australia's ABC as well as a media lecturer, I am not really familiar with the style you consider "encyclopedic."

ColorGHear: PROD; notified Goanna300 (talk · contribs) 03:50, 7 January 2012 (UTC) Reason: non notable plugin, no references, written in a very unencyclopedic style

A later post-deletion log item described the item as advertising.

Please let me explain. I originally saw this item as of intense media interest: A video colourist has developed a series of settings for someone else's software. He seems to be claiming intellectual property rights for these settings, although he has not so far produced anything which seems to be patented. The intriguing question is whether colours in moving images can be something which can be patented. Will users of motion picture settings (Hue, saaturation, brightness, etc) one day have to pay for using them? Add to the film's credits the following, "Colour settings (c)20011 ColorGHear inc."

Now, this was a collaborative Wikipedia item which was evolving well. I had started it off saying, "it seems to be some sort of plugin for [Adobe After effects]. Someone else contributed the line "..is a collection of presets" Someone [else] added some complementary info about the advantage of these settings. I edited this all, deleting my remark about plugins and re-positioning the "collection of settings" line to the top. Finally, I added the tag, "Citation Needed" to the complementary remark or definition - because, although that remark may have been over--complementary, its contributor deserved the chance to quote his/her sources.

Isn't that how Wikipedia works?

I have no personal opinion of ColorGHear. It looks impressive, subjectively - but video colourisation can often be made to look good at first. We needed a professional colourist to test and review ColorGHear's settings. WHich was why I wrote that the product[?] had not yet been reviewed.

Well the nomination for speedy delete with A7 was clearly invalid as this is not an article about a company. There was one quote that looked promotional. Are you happy with putting the page in your userspace until you can find enough independent writings about it? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 01:46, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Freq Nasty

The page was a valid 3rd party-created page about an internationally known artist who is referred to in many other Wikipedia posts. I will be honest that I am an interested party (he is my boyfriend) but I know that he didn't create the page, and we are not sure why it was taken down. He has enough "notability" to have a page, as he has been putting out music for 14 years (see Discogs.com) was just profiled in DJ Weekly http://www.djmag.com/news/detail/3077 and his new EP featured on The Untz among other places. These and other reliable sources can be included to improve the page, if it were put back up. Thank you. -99.14.160.199 (talk) 01:06, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Done In general, I would be inclined to say no: you have a conflict of interest (COI), and the page was deleted as blatant advertising — we almost never restore pages deleted for that reason. However, because you've been honest about your COI and because you've supplied what seem to me to be reliable sources, I believe that COI won't be a problem. Moreover, the page didn't really qualify for speedy deletion as blatant advertising: the most recent revisions were definitely promotional, but advertising-related speedy deletions are only supposed to be performed when the entire page history is advertising, and the earlier revisions definitely weren't promotional. Please be careful to follow our COI standards and please do your best to remain neutral in everything you write in an article; if you do both of these things, I believe that the article will turn out well. The lack of reply here is because people here are volunteers and can choose what they want to do. This article has not been deleted. Deletion is being discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Canadian School of Kuwait (CSK), and that is where you should present your reasons for keeping the article. The issue is WP:Notability, a requirement to have a Wikipedia article, which is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Grepolis

When I accessed this article it was little more than a stub, so I expanded it with accurate information (from my head) and intended to come back to it to improve it later (with proper sources), and I left a note on the talk page explaining this. But then the article was 'speedy deleted' on notability grounds, and now I can't improve it at all. What I left there was very much a work in progress - I know it didn't yet meet Wikipedia standards - but it was better than what it replaced, which is why I did it, and I would like to have the chance to establish notability. Please could it be restored to my namespace so I can improve it? Thank you. -Kimelea (talk) 03:16, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Jaume Cañellas Galindo

Jaume Cañellas Galindo · ( talk | logs | links | watch | afd | afd2 | afd3 ) · [revisions] This is one of the best child psychiatrists now living. The older article has been deleted due to reasons that the last translation ( Spanish Wikipedia ) no longer exist.

The previous two attacks for deletion have been aggressively offensive (difamatory) and shows a special interest by Catalan separatists (Independentists) to attack the character. Surely because is a defender of universal human rights and equality in the world (especially in Spain). The character is a human rights activist in the world of psychiatry and child and adolescent. Spokesman of various organizations on childhood and adolescence and leading figure in the promotion and dissemination of mental health of children and adolescents throughout the world. Especially in the Spanish-American countries, where it is a referent in psychiatry and mental health.

The character is a philanthropist, activist for the rights of children and non-profit organizations and Ambassador for Save the Children Spain.

If such prominent figures like this do not deserve an article in Wikipedia, as we maintain the quality ?

Surely we must improve the translation, but not delete it.--Winterfree2000 (talk) 22:12, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
