The rules vary at different levels of the game. But they are all based on the same idea. Classically speaking, a foul committed on someone who is not in the act of shooting, normally calls for 1 free-throw attempt. Once a team has committed some minimum number of fouls, the free throw is called a 1-and-1, or 1-and-bonus, meaning that if you make the first one, you get to try a second one. The specifics of this are now somewhat different at the college level. But that's the basic idea. Here's how the bonus works: a foul can occur in one of two situations: when the player with the ball is attempting a shot, or when they are not. If a player is fouled while attempting a shot, there are two options:

If they are fouled and missed the shot, they get two free throws
If they are fouled and made the shot, they get one extra free throw

If the foul occured and the fouled player wasn't trying to take a shot, then the ball is taken to the nearest sideline and play starts on an in-bounds pass. UNLESS the team which committed the foul had committed their limit of fouls. If a team is over the limit for fouls, that puts the other team on the bonus. When they are on the bonus, every foul results in free throws, even if the foul occured and there was no other shot being attempted. So, being "in the bonus" just means your team gets to take free throws every time they are fouled, and not just when fouled while trying to take a shot. --Jayron32 06:12, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I saw this mention on Floydian Slip's web site for the artwork of David Marsh. He has a number of well known album covers done using pantone color swatches here. I recognize some of the covers but not all of them. So, I'm looking for some help identifying them.

Well, The White Album doesn't quite fit alphabetically — but nearly! Could it still be it? I see some non-white pixels, but maybe it's based on a dirty copy. I took the liberty of filling in the gaps on the list according to the suggestions here and added the names of those who answered them. (Not that it's important, but the OP requested it). Urgh! I knew 26 was New Order (given that many of the others were British indie/alt bands from the 1980s, it seemed likely), and I thought I remembered that cover, but I couldn't find it among the New Order albums. Forgot it was a single cover. Urgh. And even more annoying is that I own that Specials album, and still couldn't place it. Did google searches on every punk and new wave band I remembered from the early 80s, and never got to third wave ska. I even thought of Fun Boy Three for that one, but it wasn't them. That's how close I got: knew the band members, but got the wrong specific band. Movie about paranoid guy[edit]

What's that movie with the beardy guy who is very paranoid and trapped in his house and has all kinds of weird ideas? I saw it long ago but I don't remember almost anything. I would love to rewatch it. Estimated release year: between 1990-1998. I once saw a large wasp-like insect (I was never able to find out what it was and I've never seen another) that had the loudest buzz I've ever heard. Much louder than a buzzing bee and of a lower frequency. The critter was about two inches long, with some of that being a long stinger/ovipositor (I assumed 'stinger' and beat a retreat). The European hornet is a big wasp-like bugger that flies around the UK in the late summer; it certainly does make a loud buzzing noise. Another loud UK contender in spring is the Cockchafer. I would imagine that there are a great many insects in warmer contries that make British bugs look a bit puny. Dragonflies are quite big but very quiet. One possibility = Florida woods cockroach (yes, a cockroach that flies...bigun, too...sweet dreams...) Also, possibly the June Bug. They have an annoying tendency to "buzz" near your face, so maybe they just sound loud. Quinn ^✹SUNSHINE 01:21, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
