Who played Duane Henderson's wife in Soul Men?[edit]

Who played Duane Henderson's wife in Soul Men? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ArnoldBowens (talkcontribs) 09:04, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see a "Mrs. Henderson" listed at IMDB: [1]. Do you know the character's first name ? StuRat (talk) 21:15, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

STEP UP 2[edit]

What is the name of the song being played when Andie West and Tyler Gage battle in the dragon? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.179.84.69 (talk) 11:43, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please help me find a Circuit City commercial.[edit]

It must've been from no later than 2005.

It involved a guy picking up a girl for a first date, and there was a score on a corner of the screen. Every time the guy did something right for the girl, the score went up. When something wrong happened, it went down.

Finally, it ends when the guy asks, "So how about a kiss?" The girl looks afraid at him, and the score drops 3,000 points to 150. However, as soon as he says, "But we'll wait, 'til we really get to know each other," the score rises back up by 10,000 points.

I've been searching for this commercial for years, so it is my utmost hope that someone here will know where to find it.

Neither Google nor Youtube was my friend on this one. Sorry. --70.179.163.168 (talk) 12:44, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I remember this commercial and remember being irritated by it. I, too, failed to find it. The last commercials at this lengthy collection seem to me to be more in the tone of the ad you remember, so I think the ad could have been after 2005. Comet Tuttle (talk) 17:51, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

1939 piano/jazz song...[edit]

I'm looking for a really nice piano song from 1939. It wasn't just a slow classic piano song, it was fast & really awesome :D It was really awesome!

The songs name was something like "on the way to A????" or "on my way to a????" or something like that! it atleast made us movee.. it was very cheery.. IT was COMpletely instrumental! not a word said in it.

It was just a really nice & cheery, fast, piano song.. :D 157.157.39.8 (talk) 18:44, 28 August 2011 (UTC) maybe jazz/paino song not sure[reply]

"Take the "A" Train"? Ghmyrtle (talk) 18:49, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks but nope, it was much more piano :D most of the song was pianoish. And the name of the song was similar to what i said :) 157.157.39.8 (talk) 21:04, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you're certain of the year, you could look through Category:1939 songs. Ghmyrtle (talk) 21:09, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure it isn't there :( I was listening to the Radio, and after the song she said it was from "1939". :( 157.157.39.8 (talk) 22:01, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I had a look through the list of 1939 jazz standards which starts on this page: [2]. I note that Count Basie's "Jive at Five" ticks all the boxes (fast instrumental piano dance music) except for the title. (Unless he sings on it, but many or most Count Basie numbers are instrumentals.) Other than that, I wonder whether the announcer mentioned that it was from 1939 to distinguish the recording from an original version recorded or composed earlier than that. I don't see any title in the list with "way" in it.  Card Zero  (talk) 10:09, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think that assumption (1939 = year of recording, not necessarily year of composition) is reasonable, and Count Basie was the first who came to my mind too. Fast swinging, joyful, piano in the spotlight, and also quite prolific in 1939. Check out the number and listen to the examples of Basie 1939 recordings on this list, for example. Of course there are plenty of other candidates who recorded in 1939, Art Tatum, Earl Hines, Teddy Wilson, James P. Johnson, Willie "The Lion" Smith, and many many more. Even Jelly Roll Morton and Fats Waller were still recording music in 1939. Anything else you remember about the music would be helpful. Was there a big band in the background? Any wind instruments? Was it a smaller ensemble (for example a trio or quartet with drums, bass, and maybe guitar). Or was it perhaps even a solo recording? ---Sluzzelin talk 11:24, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, there were all some instruments in the background, don't remember many tho, just remember the awesome fast piano sound! 157.157.39.8 (talk) 22:30, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is the US Vice President killed in this film ? He appears to be shot at 1:40:43, but then I seem to see him sitting up on the ground at 1:42:55. Is the idea that he was given a bullet-proof vest in anticipation, or intentionally wounded, but not killed ? StuRat (talk) 21:02, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've not seen this talkie, but as I understand it bullet wounds are often not instantly lethal or even incapacitating, especially single ones. This link from those nice TV Tropes chaps covers it quite a bit - http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/InstantDeathBullet. But in this case the shooter was a professional killer and the target was close and stationary, even after he had been shot, giving the shooter ample time to finish him off. StuRat (talk) 04:34, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Happened to watch this just yesterday, and whilst I don't think it's made clear - I was certainly left with the impression that the VP was still alive, as we find out he wasn't the big bad, but rather a fall guy. WormTT · (talk) 13:26, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
