Is this guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughn?[edit]

In August 1983 I saw Buddy Guy and Junior Wells preform in Urbana, Illinois (see photos from the event File:Buddy Guy 1983.jpg and File:Junior Wells 1983.jpg.) IIRC, the promotional posters for the event said "with special guest Stevie Ray Vaughn" and one of the performers (Guy, I think) called him "brother Stevie". This was about the time Vaughn's first album came out. I remember the guy playing a lot like Vaughn. But this doesn't look like Vaughn to me. Is it? I doubt this is Vaughn. For the first, it doesn't look like him at all: The hair is wrong, the beard is wrong (he usually kept a soul patch if anything), I'd never seen him dress like that for any public appearance. He always dressed in flowing shirts and I've never seen a picture or video of him peforming live without his hat (kind of a wide-brimmed pork pie hat or a flat topped cowboy hat). However, the giveaway for me is the guitar. Even if Vaughn was performing incognito (i.e. trying to look different), he played Fender Stratocasters almost exclusively. See Stevie Ray Vaughan's musical instruments. I have never seen him play anything else, especially not a hollowbody electric Gibson like the one in that picture. If it was him he's a) wearing a perm in his hair and a style of beard I'd never seen him in b) he's dressed as I've never seen him dress for a public performance before c) he's playing a musical instrument I've never seen him play before. I believe you are right. This was a show at the Univ of Illinois student union, about 2 months after Vaughn's first album came out (which I had not heard yet). They basically played a 5-hour show like a bar set. They played for about 45 minutes and took a 15-minute break. Each time they came out, this guy would come out with the band and do a song or two, then Guy came out and did a song or two, and then Wells would come out and join them. My memory is that he played a lot like Vaughn. I remember at the time thinking "this guy is stealing Albert King licks" (like Vaughn borrowed). When I heard Texas Flood I thought that I had heard him play some of those songs. But you are right about the hair, beard, style of dress, and guitar. It seems possible, but Giger was known to include phallic imagery in his work. I figured the latter had a bigger influence on the Alien's design. Oh, and in a battle, the Parasaurolophus would win--GroovySandwich 10:33, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Weights (etc.) of NHL trophies[edit]

You probably can't. It may not be availible to see even on DVD or VHS. Not much from the 1970's has been reproduced into modern media today. It may only exist on some deteriorating video tapes in a box in some warehouse somewhere. --Jayron32 00:44, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
