Can I get Gmail to display my email address ?[edit]

..instead of my name at the top of the screen ? I have multiple Gmail accounts for work and personal emails, and they all have my name on it, so I can't easily tell which is which, without seeing the actual email address. StuRat (talk) 04:00, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

At the top right, there is a person icon. You can mouse over it to display which account you are currently on - I guess this is what you are talking about. I think that is the only option. Personally, I use Thunderbird (on PC, Mac, and Linux) for all my Gmail accounts, so I know which account I am using. I'd recommend that. KägeTorä - () (Chin Wag) 05:54, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, I use the mouse-over now, but I'm afraid I will forget which account I'm in and send a rude message I think is going to all my friends, and have it go to my employer instead. I'd prefer it stating explicitly, in plain site, which account this is. StuRat (talk) 18:37, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Not exactly what you asked for, but you could go to Settings - Themes and select different colour themes for your various accounts. WegianWarrior (talk) 19:03, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I've done that, but it's not quite as good as it actually listing the address. StuRat (talk) 19:07, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You can use a custom theme, and set custom background image to one with your email address written in it. The address won't be in the title bar, so flicking to the correct browser won't be as easy as having it displayed in the browser's title bar. LongHairedFop (talk) 20:34, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand because my Gmail tells me in the title bar which address I'm signed in under. It says "Gmail (##) <address>" where ## is the number of unread messages I have. Dismas|(talk) 21:48, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. Maybe it does that of you don't give it your name ? If so, can I remove my name to have it do so for me, as well ? StuRat (talk) 22:13, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Google certainly knows my name. Dismas|(talk) 00:55, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
For me my email shows up in the title bar. But on many modern browsers the "Title Bar" is really just the tab, which isn't actually wide enough to see more than a little of my email.
On thing I do is set portraits for all my accounts. They're different and show up in that icon in the upper right of gmail. A logo for the business account, a sketch of my face for the personal account, and the account for my blog has the blog's logo. That way I can always tell which account I'm on by looking in the upper right hand corner. APL (talk) 22:53, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's an idea, I could take a screenshot of my email address and make that the icon. StuRat (talk) 23:24, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: One of my Google accounts does have my email address where the picture/icon normally would be in the upper, right corner, but I don't think I did it. Does anyone know how this might happen ? Is it one of the settings ? I looked through them, but can't find one that sounds like it would do that. StuRat (talk) 05:59, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
