Unfortunately I had to Yoninah, because I couldn't see an alternative. It means more work for me because I now have to look for a suitable replacement (unless you want to add one). Rats and helicopters

Hi, Yoninah. I had looked at Prep 1 earlier, and thought that the dog who could kill 200 rats per hour was a terrible (or would that be terrierible?) quirky choice, and that the photo of the White House lawn was an uninteresting image to use for the stolen helicopter story. When I checked back, I saw that you'd taken care of both of these. So, I just thought I'd stop by and thank you for those, as well as everything else you do around DYK. Other topic, but trying to spare you another thread. Hallo Ü-Wagen. The original hook talked about the participation of several groups, - and was found too verbose. I had hoped the image, of a women talking seriously to children, would transport the character of the program, for which the word "show" seems somehow misleading. Sure, you don't see every detail on the pic in stamp size, but outdoors, easy-going and communication. Please consider. Debrah Collier, National Museum security coordinator for "The Precious Legacy," said in an interview that crowd control regulations were invoked from its start; limiting attendance officially at 256 at any one time in the exhibition rooms to allow for better viewing. But, she said, the number was allowed to rise to at least a hundred more "without a safety hazard" when the crowds were largest.

Preliminary figures indicated the exhibition's daily average for its 53 days (the Smithsonian closed on Christmas Day) was 2,074.

"There were no incidents of any kind," Collier said. "Everybody was very orderly."

However, neither the total figure nor the daily average attendance for the "Legacy" reached the numbers that visited exhibits over the years at the National Gallery of Art here. The highest daily average at the gallery was for the Mona Lisa. It averaged 20,741 in 25 days in January and February 1963.

Somebody moved it to Prep 3. There are some on that list I didn't know were Canadian. A true story about Strange Brew. I first saw the movie at a university theater in Texas, filled to capacity with mostly-male students who were fans of SCTV. Besides which, the radio stations in Texas kept running the Bob and Doug McKenzie routines. They were very, very popular in Texas. My companion was a visiting Canadian woman in their age group, who had never seen the SCTV stuff. And every time someone on the screen ended a sentence with, "Eh?", the audience would explode in laughter. My companion didn't get the humor in the movie, and didn't know why the audience thought the hoser jokes and "Eh?" were particularly funny. Eh?— Maile (talk) 02:00, 28 July 2019 (UTC)

Wayne and Shuster are probably the most successful pair/partnership of Canadian comedians, and Bob & Doug the most recognized pair of Canadian comic characters. Maybe next year, I'd like to do a DYK on them. My favourite take on the Canadian eh is that it's a consensus-builder. The theory is that Canadians are too modest to force an opinion on another person, so they subconsciously add an "eh?" on the end to make it a question and invite agreement. I don't know, not enthusiastic about a full century ;) - I thought an image would say more than many words. The hook doesn't tell that at the time, such a bridge over a major river was quite an undertaking. Without image, the only thing which could tell that it's something special is the name, no? Warming stripes hook

Hey, Yoninah! Back home now and able to give a chunk of time today so I'm starting to review stuff in queue, and I saw this hook is in a non-image slot in Queue 1. As nom I'm involved, but I was wondering if you'd be willing to use this in a later image slot? I thought it was a hook that particularly needed its image since it's about data visualization. @Valereee: I thought the image was good but the hook was terribly repetitive ("global"..."global"..."warming"..."warming"..."stripes"..."stripes"). As you can see, I edited the hook a bit. Song title in Floy Little Bartlett

Do you have a reference to support changing "of" to "O'"? I reverted a previous edit that made the same change, and I noted on the article's talk page that the source in the citation has "of" in the title. I understand those reasons for making the change, but my concern still remains: Doesn't the article need a citation to support the change? Your explanations sound good, and I don't oppose the change itself, but without an additional citation, it appears arbitrary, because it varies from the content of the original citation. DYK nom problem

I'm not sure who to address, but assuming you're an administrator, but since you have tons of DYK experience, you're it. :-)   I just created the Template:Did you know nominations/Joseph Labarge, but when I listed it on the nomination page, under August 10, it appears as a red link. After purging the page and other efforts it still appears as a red link in the listing. When I created and saved the nomination everything seemed to be okay. Any ideas? Question about image in DYK nomination

Adler is one of America's leading 20th century composers. Upon returning to his native Germany in 1952 as a Corporal in the Army, he found his homeland in ruins and convinced his superior officers to establish the Seventh Army Symphony Orchestra in an effort to support America's cultural diplomacy initiatives through Europe in the post World War II era. The orchestra is the only symphonic ensemble ever established within the U. S. Army. Its instrumentalists were all active members of the Army who were also professionally educated musicians of the highest caliber. Their mission was not to wage war, however, but to promote international peace through shared cultural interactions between nations as some of America's first "cultural ambassadors" .

One possible "hook" into theses articles might be:

promoting preps

Hey, Yoninah! I've been unsure recently whether or not a prep was ready to promote to queue. I don't like to promote if a prep has been worked on in the past twelve hours, as I figure people are still shuffling. And I don't want to promote when there's only one prep that is full and all the others still have one or more empty slots. @Valereee: I've been trying to fill prep sets more quickly as two a day are being put up on the main page. If you see one or two filled prep sets with half-filled ones below them, go ahead and promote the filled prep sets. I think 12 hours is too much time to delay. @Dr. Blofeld: Hi, you didn't retire? It's great to have you back! The temperature meter at DYK has been on a low burner lately. Some promoted hooks are discussed at WT:DYK and then altered in prep. There isn't so much pulling lately, and I haven't seen snide remarks at WT:DYK in a while. Hooks are moving along slowly, though, as we have a big backlog. You know what? I would be happy to nominate your DYKs for you; I have a backlog of QPQ reviews. Then, if something is questioned, you could chime in with answers. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling that my hook at Template:Did you know nominations/Pholiota squarrosoides is being skipped over since its approval a month ago because the hook isn't that great. I think we should not, because the English translation of the Hebrew is different from the English translation of the Latin, and the KJV. The slight differences of three versions are helpful to our readers, I'd think. - Sometimes the difference begins with with verse numbering. @SL93: I meant that the article is written in a roundabout style. The Personal life section begins with her education, tells me she passed on her masters program to audition, then says that before she auditioned she answered phones. Then she starts going back further in time to talk about her childhood. This would be so much better written in chronological order: Birth, family, education, early career, acting career.

Sourcing her birthdate is not a problem. I'm referring to seeing only 2 RS for her notability: New York magazine and the A.V. Club.

Glad you liked the photo for Shangri-La (house)

Was surprised that anyone else was watching the article. :) I wrote to the owners of the house to see if I could get a better photograph of the front (aside from the part that borders Shangri-La drive it's only accessible from the gated private drive) but didn't get a response. I think the one I took of the other side is not bad, though.

A while ago I began filling in redlinks on state women's hall of fame pages, and after I finished Maine Women's Hall of Fame, I turned to Colorado Women's Hall of Fame. Shangri-La (house) was an extension of my work on Arlene Hirschfeld's page. I'm only aware of an active Orthodox community and girls' school in Denver, but I would think you could contact Intermountain Jewish News for information about any community in the city or state. The grounds on which this article has been opened to discussion for deletion is unclear to me and it seems a bit biased and suspicious, given that Yivsam Azgad has given a lot of service to Arts, Science, and Journalism including many science-based socio-cultural initiatives which are recognized worldwide and thus deserves a Wikipedia page in English. @MartinPoulter: Hooks are often swapped around right until the last minute! In this case, I was trying to avoid placing a person image in two sets in a row, so I moved your set to October 26, 00:00 UTC. That means that in Los Angeles and New York, it goes up on the night of Friday the 25th. I didn't see any special occasion requests for any of the hooks, so I felt free to do the swap. Otherwise the link displays indented in the "What links here" section. This has been my understanding and practice since I joined Wikipedia. The only page I can find is WP:MOSLINK. 1. I could move Clara Schumann to a different set. I don't like the picture—the black and white makes her look haggard. The hook isn't great for an image slot, either.
2. Really? I have so much trouble balancing sets because there are far more women hooks than men. Your tenors and Zanhe's Chinese scientists are the only men I ever find.

Please move Schumann to a different set. - The last time a classical music performer was pictured - and we only talked about pictured - seems a while ago, Schumann with her piano concerto in October (it's her bicentenary year), while the last sports person was 3 December. - I didn't ask for the Magnificat on the 15th, valereee moved it there, and I said lovely because we sing it that day, - it could be any day. A bot automatically sends it to our Approved page, after which it waits for a prep builder to come along and promote it. Template:Did you know nominations/Tujhe Kitna Chahne Lage

Yoninah, the article has received its GOCE copyedit, and I was wondering whether you thought you'd be able to promote it now, or if you still have concerns. Given how long it is and the fact that when it moved to the Approved page, another eight to ten later nominations were prevented from transcluding, it would be great if it could be put in a prep, but only if it is indeed ready.

It's the oldest approved nomination, and the second oldest was reviewed by Cwmhiraeth (Template:Did you know nominations/Gott ist gegenwärtig), so you're the likeliest candidate to promote that one as well. (It's also a big one, which will likely allow several later approvals to retransclude.) I'm looking forward to us going to two a day in just under 18 hours, so we can get this backlog down at least to the point where we can actually transclude all of the approved nominations!
