Hi, Will1604. I received your e-mail concerning deletion of the article The Institute for Genome Research. The previous version of that article, The Institute for Genomic Research, was merged properly into J. Craig Venter Institute on 21 March 2012 with this edit. (The merger is noted on the talk pages.) The article you later created on 10 April was then correctly deleted per WP:A10 as a recent creation of a duplicate topic -- it was copied from the main article.

I would suggest that you first discuss with User:Stigmatella aurantiaca your concerns -- and any advantages or disadvantages of separate articles. I am uncertain whether Stigmatella aurantiaca opened a period of comment for the merger as suggested by Wikipedia:Merging -- although that isn't absolutely necessary. However, I think that they would be open to discussing their reasons with you. Because you are both interested in the topic, it would be best if a mutual or consensus opinion can be reached. If need be, you can also ask for an opinion at one of the projects which might have an interest in the article, like Wikipedia:WikiProject Genetics; or you can inquire for a Third Opinion. The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR) no longer exists as a separate entity, but was merged into the J. Craig Venter Institute in 2006.
