Semi-retired

Why? --Checco (talk) 08:23, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Just have other things in real life I have to do. I'll still keep the blog running, and I'll still nominate you at RfA whenever you're ready! :) - DiligentTerrier (and friends) 14:51, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
OK, fine. I thought that you had some problems with someone in Wikipedia or that you was disappointed by something. Definitely Wikipedia is a sort of illness which makes you loose plenty of time! It is probably better to postpone my nomination. I'm working hard on my MA thesis and I won't be able to be in Wikipedia continously during the summer. I could change my mind and I tell you that I am ready before, but for now that's what I think. What do you say about it? --Checco (talk) 16:52, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

NICE!

I think I got it, you were missing the "titleparts" stuff to truncate the user variable because of all the spaces after the username in the region lists. –xenocidic (talk) 17:05, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

I agree with Artichoker, I think it would be best to change the header on that AFD to say the result was "Merge and Redirect" instead of "Keep". Useight (talk) 21:23, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Please also do the same on the AfD notice on the page. Also, I think you are not an admin, correct? If not, please note that it was a non-admin closure. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 22:44, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

What is Around the World?

It's a collaboration!

A collaboration using advanced wiki-tools!

The event is being co-sponsored by Wikiproject Lists of basic topics and WikiProject Geography, and participants will be "traveling" all around "the World" visiting each country online (here on Wikipedia) as they apply advanced wiki-tools to improve pieces of the profiles of each and every country on Earth!. Each pass through these pages is a "trip around the World..."

The set of pages we are working is currently located at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics.

Each page presents essential information on each country in a topic outline format, for ease of overviewing and navigating. Most of the topics presented are linkified, which turns these pages into a hypertextual map to material about each country on Wikipedia. When completed, they shall all become part of Wikipedia's contents system.

The pages share a standard format, with the information on each country presented in the same general order. So rather than getting stuck on a single country trying to complete it, each participant works on all 200+ political entities, completing a single data item or detail across all of the pages!

For this they use advanced tools like WP:AWB, Linky, etc. It goes fast, and since others are doing this at the same time, it makes "the World" feel like a beehive, and the participants are its bees.  :) The energy is contagious.

And since you are moving from country to country, the tasks make it feel like you are traveling around the world, and you get to learn a little about every country as you do so. This approach also allows for greater efficiency, because by the time you've done 30 or so of a particular item, you've figured out how to finish it faster and more effectively (such as where to find the data or how to make adjustments), and this specialization speeds up development - but more importantly it reduces errors.

The tasks are varied, which adds even more variety to the project. Some tasks are look-ups-and-fill-ins, some are copy and paste, some are image hunts, some are maintenance adjustments, some are link fixing, some are blue-linking (creating an underlying redirect so a link turns blue), some are fact checking, etc.

Standing by to help are co-coordinators, who can lend a helping hand to participants, provide instruction and tips on how to use the tools, and help them find what they are looking for. Co-coordinators also use advanced tools to inspect the work of participants, and touch it up as needed, or if a task was done wrong throughout, point this out to the participant so he or she can make the necessary corrections.

Co-coordinators are working on the set of pages right now, to familiarize themselves with "the World" so they can help more effectively by the time the main event starts. But there's still lots of preparation left to be done, and we are looking for editors experienced in advanced wikitools who would like to become co-coordinators.

Autograph book support

I'll leave my support to the imagination. Do I support autograph books? Signatures? Lists? The number 131? But in all seriousness, I do, indeed, think you're a good editor. Useight (talk) 18:20, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for that! I agree on the same for you! I'm also wondering ... is there any particular trick to knowing when you reach a milestone edit? I notice you were able to make it whenever you update your counter. Or did you just watch your edit count closely? - DiligentTerrier (and friends) 18:27, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
No, I don't have a trick for updating my milestone edits. Usually I check my wannabe_kate stats at the end of most days (I'm left-brained and love numbers. I could read an almanac all day). I know that I usually make between 50 and 100 edits per day, depending on whether I got bored and used Huggle for a bit, so when I'm close, I indeed watch it closely. My next milestone edit will be 17,000, so when I get to about 16,975 (which will probably be tomorrow or the next day) I will refresh my wannabe_kate stats after every few edits. That way I know when wannabe_kate shows 16,999 I will change my userbox. Of course, some edits go away, due to deleted contribs, but I know that when I changed the userbox, my stats did show that number exactly. Is this editcountitis? Maybe. Is it precision and accuracy? Yes. Useight (talk) 18:37, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

That's pretty smart! That tool works pretty slow on my computer; SQL's tool is faster for me. Either way, do like to keep track of my edits and update my counter, which is now on a separate page so I'm not accused of editcountitis by those who have watchlisted my page. :) I think there's also some kind of advanced program used for tracking your edits, but I never really researched that. - DiligentTerrier (and friends) 18:43, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Indeed wannabe_kate is quite slow the first time you open it. However, if it's already open and you just hit F5, it can refresh itself much quicker than it originally took to open. But it's still not fast. Useight (talk) 18:49, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Have you tried SQL's tool? - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 18:50, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, but its number differ from wannabe_kate's, and I want to keep it standardized. If you take a look at User:Useight/Helps, I believe there's a link to the SQL counter under "Useful Links", but I'm not sure. That page is actually a pretty good resource, if you want to steal parts of it, or all of it, for that matter. Useight (talk) 19:06, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Nice page! I'll have to check out why the counters' numbers are different. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 19:17, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

I like it!

Are you looking to add a specific type of model such as an airplane, monster truck or...? I really like the idea! Please let me know how I can help. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:01, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

  • All I see so far is the construction template, but if you'd like, I can PM or e-mail for some suggestions. I assume this'll be striclty for surface vehicles? --PMDrive1061 (talk) 00:25, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Brief review

Looking through your article work, I found some great stuff there, such as your work to Henderson Village. I took a sizeable random sample of your reverts and didn't find any mistakes. Looking through User Talk, I didn't find any problems there either. Going through your work in the Wikipedia space, it's mostly great, but there were some comments at AFDs that didn't add much to the discussion, such as "Per User:XYZ" and a few RFA !votes, such as "Why not?" that don't add much to the discussion either. Overall, though, excellent work, keep it up. Useight (talk) 21:01, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

I can go deeper if you'd like or can check on some specific things if you had something in mind. Useight (talk) 21:06, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the offer, but you don't have to right now. I'll probably request a formal editor review one of these days, but thanks again for what you've said so far. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 21:42, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Featured article

Featured Arkansas article of the month:

  • Monte Ne is an area in the Ozark hills of the White River valley east of Rogers on the edge of Beaver Lake in the U.S. State of Arkansas. From 1901 until the mid-1930s the area was a health resort and ambitious planned community. It was owned and operated by William Hope Harvey, a financial theorist and one time U.S. Presidential nominee. Two of its hotels, "Missouri Row" and "Oklahoma Row", were the largest log buildings in the world. Oklahoma Row's "tower section" is one of the earliest examples of a multi-story cement structure. The tower is the only structure of Monte Ne still standing. Monte Ne introduced the first indoor swimming pool in Arkansas, and was also the site of the only presidential convention ever held in Arkansas. (more...)

Bot question?

I was looking around at bots, and I saw you have a bot, Diligent Terrier Bot. How exactly is a bot run? It has sparked my interest.--LAAFan 16:01, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Bots are used to make non-repetitive continuous tasks that would take a human a long time to do. Bots are each run differently. My bot uses Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser, but others are written in programming languages like Python. A well known anti-vandal bot is User:ClueBot. My bot is used to deliver notices on talk pages. If you want to make a bot of your own, every bot needs approval from the bot approval group. You can see an example at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/Diligent Terrier Bot, where my bot was approved. There is also a Wikipedia:Bot policy page. Let me know if you have any additional questions. :) - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 16:55, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Re: The ACC tool

Hi, thanks for volunteering to help out at WP:ACC. Just a quick note: please be careful when closing requests as 'Too Similar'. Admins have the 'override antispoof' right which allows them to create similar accounts, therefore if the account that the request is similar to has no or very few edits and/or these edits were a while ago, it is safe to assume that there will be no confusion and you should click 'defer to admins' rather than 'similar'. This will add the request to the admin-needed queue and an admin will create the account in due course. Thanks. RichardΩ612 Ɣ ɸ 18:16, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Yes, thanks. I noticed the similar account had no contributions, so I think I reversed that action, sending it to admins. Thank you. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 18:28, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
No problem! RichardΩ612 Ɣ ɸ
Thanks for the barnstar! It shall proudly reside on my awards page! RichardΩ612 Ɣ ɸ 19:08, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Please watch when denying requests at ACC. If you continue to deny similar requests that can be handled by an Admin, you may become blocked from the tool. If you have any questions, please ping me on my talkpage....DustiSPEAK!! 23:42, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, maybe you could take another look at the request, but I believe the request you're referencing was almost identical to an existing username, which is why I closed it. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 23:58, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
I did look a second time and your correct, but please read the information above.....the account can still be created. DustiSPEAK!! 00:06, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Of course the account could be created, but not in accordance with our username policy. So, I was correct in declining the request, then? - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 00:19, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
No, the account can still be created, actually....hold on I think it was created. In accordinance with the usrname policy, an account whose name is similar to another name cannot be created UNLESS the account to whom it is similar to is an inactive account. Always, always, always go and see if the similar account has any contributions. If the account hasn't had contributions within the past year/ year and a half, then defer to admins. DustiSPEAK!! 14:56, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
The account was created.....if your unsure about the tool, I ask that you ask for help before continuing to use it. I noticed that after I deferred the name to admins, you deferred it to users and then to admins. There really wasnt a need for it. Please, ask for help if you are confused. Thanks, DustiSPEAK!! 15:00, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for that. Regarding me deferring the account as you are talking about, since I had already accidentally closed it, I had to defer it to the users and then defer it to the admins, which it why it appears that way in the logs. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 16:54, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Please enlighten me

An embarrassing Huggle revert? Come on, details, details. P.S. - I saw an "Oppose per Useight" in your autograph book. That made me laugh. Useight (talk) 17:12, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

That's okay, it wasn't that important. Useight (talk) 22:43, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Bots

I have another question about bots. I've decided that, if I get a bot running, it would use AWB. My question is, do I need to get separate approval if I want to have AWB for the bot and my user account? I'm almost positive you do, but I want to make sure. I'm going to request it for my user account today. --LAAFan 20:40, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Adopt me please!

Hi there,

I am brand new to editing on Wikipedia. It peaked my interest as my company uses a version of wiki and the editing really started to become fun to me. I have always been interested in editing and spelling errors always drive me insane.

I'm hoping you can show me the ropes and help me find articles to edit - I have been trying on my own but I just keep getting lost and aggravated.

I look forward to you adopting me soon! (I am also in the East, I live in NY and I plan on being online tonight).

Thanks,

--Treditor200 (talk) 21:34, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I can adopt you! - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 21:49, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

How does it work? What do I need to do now since I'm adopted? --Treditor200 (talk) 23:30, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

You are now adopted. Please see User:Diligent Terrier/Adoption Center for details. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 23:32, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

WP:HAU, Status, and you!

As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible) system - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. Please clear this parameter if you change things to be "HAU compatible". Further questions can be raised at WT:HAU. This message was delivered by xenobot 22:51, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Co-nom

Yes, Diligent Terrier, I would be honored if you co-nominated me for adminship. Balloonman has started an RfA page at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Happyme22, and I will accept once all the co-noms are in. Thank you so much for the interest! Best, Happyme22 (talk) 22:52, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Re: WP:ACC

Apologies. I was looking at the relay on IRC, and saw the two requests which had been there for a few minutes. You'd created both usernames by the time I found them, so I assumed that since the requests weren't hot off the press, you'd neglected to close them. There's a fine line between housekeeping and jumping the gun! Hope I didn't cause any ire on your part. Catch you around. (Nice userpage, by the way!) haz (talk) 18:53, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Voting in an RfA then adding a question?

Mind explaining that? Gwynand | TalkContribs 20:00, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Because if the candidate answers differently than I believe he will if he answers the question, I may change my vote. The question is optional, as you may have noticed. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 20:02, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Then why the rush to vote so quickly, specifically if you admit that his answer to the question may change how you vote? Gwynand | TalkContribs 20:04, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Because I believe he's a good candidate. It is not unusual for a user to change their vote after a candidate answers a question they disagree with. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 20:05, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
But it's rarely done by the person asking the question. Just a note for the future. Gwynand | TalkContribs 20:08, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

I realize it is a bit unusual. I think I'll withdraw my vote pending answer to my question. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 20:10, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

No... that's not neccesary. I wanted to point it out to you, how it can come across. Withdrawing your support (if you really want to support) will probably be overkill. Gwynand | TalkContribs 20:11, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
  • Sorry to poke in here, but I would just leave the vote up otherwise it'll just draw attention to the peculiarity of the whole situation. But in the future, yea, question first, !vote later. P.S. archive?! –xenocidic (talk) 20:12, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
(edit conflict)Yeah, I can see how it can come across to the candidate, but I think it's a question that deserves to be answered. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 20:13, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Homeschooling

Just to provide an example: I wish to add my name to the members list, i click "edit this page" at the members section. I am told that i now have to go back, and edit another section. It is not only confusing to new members, but is a general annoyance. As a side note, having so many sub-pages is really confusing, and leaves us more exposed to vandalism - it is easier to watch one page than ten or twenty. Five Years 06:29, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

When I go to add my name to the list, it goes right to editing the members page. I see your point though regarding watching all of the pages. But the members age has some old important history in it, so I'm hesitant to agree on its deletion. I think I'll let you go ahead and delete the separate collaboration page, and I'll merge it into the main page. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 19:10, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Ok, aside from the members one. What about the userboxes and invitation ones, they dont seem to have any important history. Also, shouldnt those userboxes be in wikipedia space, not in peoples userspace, considering that they are used by the project. Thanks. Five Years 16:55, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
How about merging the invitations and userbox listings pages into the main project page, then redirecting the pages to that section in the project page? - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 20:41, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. Five Years 06:02, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Re: Sockpuppetry case

Why do you suspect that I am Llamadog903 simply because I supported his RFA? Eatpeaches (talk) 21:07, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

No, please see the evidence listed at the sockpuppetry evidence page. Thank you. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 21:09, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
DT, that's extremely tenuous evidence. I'd suggest withdrawing the case. eatpeaches is trolling, I've no doubt of that, but I don't think he's Llamadog, whose account was created in 2006 (not sure why you wrote they were created within 2 days of eachother). –xenocidic (talk) 21:28, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
  • I've closed the case and deleted the category you created. While it's clear you were acting in good faith, consider bouncing your concerns off someone else to make sure you're not seeing something that isn't quite there =). –xenocidic (talk) 22:55, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Your Adoptee

User:Florentino floro has really crossed the line here [4], see my comments on the talk page [5] for more details. I think a personal word from you would go a long way toward making him understand that what he did was inappropriate. I know I am often on his case, but I think this particular edit of his crosses a more serious threshold. Unfortunately, my telling him so is not going to make him listen. You, on the other hand, may have some sway. maxsch (talk) 22:08, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

I can leave him a little message, but that still probably won't go real far. If you want to see a real change in him, I would suggest a user conduct RFC. As another option, I can write up a conclusion on the mediation page where he can agree to talk edits over with me before making them... - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 23:28, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Use of a Talk page to find ways to block Floro

I want to respectfully reiterate and submit hereinder by quoting parts of damning evidence of admissions that:User talk:Howard the Duck[6] I'm tired already of his shortcomings. At least with that comment he'll think twice on expounding a lenghtly dissertation about dwarfs. --Howard the Duck 07:13, 27 June 2008 (UTC) Even sysops don't know how to deal with him, IMHO. The only way they'll do action is if he does really blatant violation (COPYVIO/3RR/etc). --Howard the Duck 07:17, 27 June 2008 (UTC) Take a look at the user talk page of the one if the intervening admins (I forgot who), it seems he doesn't know what to do. --Howard the Duck 07:32, 27 June 2008 (UTC) If ever you catch him doing something that warrants a block, please tell me. ;D TheCoffee (talk) 08:18, 27 June 2008 (UTC)I caught him editing Wikipedia --Migs (talk) 08:27, 27 June 2008 (UTC)Well if anyone does something that warrants a block, I'm going to enforce the rules and block them. That's the way it should be done, there's nothing wrong with that and I stand by my post. TheCoffee (talk) 07:53, 30 June 2008 (UTC) Well, you can stand by it. Its just that a lot of eyes are waiting for Floro to commit mistake then block. =) --Efe (talk) 07:58, 30 June 2008 (UTC)--Florentino floro (talk) 08:04, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

8 hours daily edits, reverted by Max, in just 20 minutes, fair?

I spend 8 hours daily, regularly and continously, to add good positive edits, while Max, spends 20 minutes daily to revert my hard earned positive contributions. Is Wikipedia fair? Are yeoman editors entitled to be respected? Daily, I work Wiki for long continuous 8 hours, I repeat, as evidenced by my contributions and their times inputs.[7]. Sad to say, Max's sole agenda in Wiki, is to make a fishing expedition, to find ways to block me, by looking for the so called blatant violations. But Max can't because of my diligence, honesty and good faith. I could have made more than 20,000 edits by patrolling, correcting spelling, Max reverting, grammar, formatting, but, I opted to contribute good and closed edits, such that any editor would take it hard to add more, but could easily trim my rather medium edits.[8] Take these fewest examples, where, in each edit, I spent 1 1/2 hours researching all googles: Dayana Mendoza, and New Cross double murder. Take Max's daily contributions: 98% of them are stalking my edits, patrolling them, and Max desires to block me for no reason. Let us be candid of Max's sole agenda. But I disregard these, sinced I believe in the ethics and respect by most editors here to myself.[9] If Max has a Wiki action against me, then Max should read Wiki rules and apply the policies as well. Regards.--Florentino floro (talk) 08:04, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Davide Article No COI, with RFC

When Max found a seemingly wrong edit, but not, Max reverted my edit. So, I read Wiki rules and policy, and forthwith faced Max squarely on the RULES. Here:Wikipedia:Requests for comment[10]. Like in all my edits (now 5,002+), no Wikipedia editor had ever more than .01% ever reverted my edits, since Max came, except Max, as Wiki stalker, since I learned so much, being now a Most Excellent Grognard, entitled to display the badge of Yeoman Editor. Now, I found this humour template apt here:

Beware! This user's talk page is patrolled by talk page stalkers.

Fortunately, User:Efe, instead of filing comment at the talk page, became neutral, and thus, edited and cleaned up the article[11] I fully explained my stance, that there is no COI, reading all the lines of COI[12]. Regards.--Florentino floro (talk) 08:15, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Stop calling yourself Most Excellent Grognard or Yeoman Editor. It's meaningless and it makes you sound stupid. TheCoffee (talk) 08:40, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
I am not calling myself this or that, with all due respect. I informed my parent that I read Wiki templates and badges, and I fully explained that all of us editors are equal ethically, inter alia, but Wiki recognizes awards, barnstars, and here badges of service to editors. So, I invoked my right as editor to display this award and badge, for all Wiki intents and purposes, it might be so, for the better information of my adopting parent.--Florentino floro (talk) 08:47, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
More to the point, stop bragging about the number of edits you have or your length of stay on Wikipedia. I have said this a number of times, but it is completely irrelevant and says nothing about your capacity as an editor. If you have to post an umpteen paragraphs defending yourself and insisting that your edits number more than many editors' then maybe you should reconsider your position and ask yourself if you're in the right. Speaking of paragraphs, I believe you've been warned multiple times, by multiple people, that you need to be far more succinct. I'm getting very sick of your propensity for adding needlessly long and meaningless sentences when one will do just fine. --Migs (talk) 08:53, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
I am not bragging of my 5,020++ edits, for it is settled that it is not the number of edits that count, but quality. However, editors are entitled as a matter of right to cite and display badges of service, and note that there are many who had 100,000 edits and mine is just a minute one. TLDRis a general rule open to exceptions, like here, where I and Max and you need to submit argument. --Florentino floro (talk) 12:08, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

RE: Water Oak

Ok, so maybe i'm not a moderator or editor, but i'm pretty sure the one line of text that I added on how to identify Water Oak trees was very informative. Just because I didnt' fill out an edit summary doesn't mean that it wasn't worthwile. In fact, I'm wondering how and why it is necessary to write a summary for a one line edit. Really, if I did put a summary on it, it would have been verbatim what i included. Also, I'm not even sure if I'm putting this in the right place, your page is so jumbled that I'm pretty lost in it at this point. Please, don't revert my edit agian, as it both adds to the article and helps to better convey the somewhat botanical jargon that it supplements. Really, it's a waste of my time to go back and reedit things that needed to be edited in the first place. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eganjt (talkcontribs) 19:02, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I never reverted any of your edits, nor did I warn you so I'm not sure what you're talking about. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 19:29, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Sry if i sounded a bit upset-- it seem almost every edit i make i have to make twice with wikipedia. Your "bot" did the editing and/or warning. I figured out why (I didn't include a justification on the edit summary) and since then i haven't had any problems. This is just continued frustration with the editing process at wikipedia.Eganjt (talk) 14:49, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
I don't see where I ever edited your talk page, and I don't have a bot that warns users, so you must be confused. « Diligent Terrier (talk) 17:22, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Per your advice, I started a RFC for your adoptee user:Florentino floro here [15]. I intend to add some diffs of specific instances of his misbehavior in the next day or so. I thought you might be interested. maxsch (talk) 21:58, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, for the message. This might solve our debate, differences and, for sure, might help us both to expand Wikipedia with greater improvement, for future readers. Greetings

Hello! This is the first that I encountered this: Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Florentino floro[17] . I am not pretty sure, when and how, I will respond. So, if the pending User:Diligent Terrier/Florentino floro and Maxschmelling (created on 18:38, 18 May 2008 by Diligent Terrier), works like this, as far as the procedure of replying and argument/discussions, then, I cordially invited some Filipino and foreign editors or users, here, to share their views on the matter, as maxsch, also did invite. Hence, I sent messages of invitations to users/admins who had posted in my own talk pages/archives, and who might be familiar with the debate: Filipinos - User talk:Rizalninoynapoleon, User talk:Kguirnela, User talk:Ianlopez1115, User talk:Titopao; and non-Filipinos User talk:NanohaA'sYuri, User talk:Vivio Testarossa, User talk:Andreasegde, User talk:Viriditas, User talk:BanyanTree, User talk:Royalbroil, User talk:John Carter, User talk:Algabal, User talk:FisherQueen, User talk:Rkitko, User talk:BanyanTree, User talk:Royalbroil, User:Diligent Terrier, my parent.--Florentino floro (talk) 06:16, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Should I respond in Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Florentino floro after a while, and after some or most of these invited users had filed comment? Or, should I reply now or next day? Please enlighten me. Thanks.--Florentino floro (talk) 06:16, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Pax

I don't believe in my giving you or my former parent User:Ianlopez1115, a barnstar, since, I myself, only received one barnstar from User:Lenticel, Filipino admin. But, I desire to bestow upon your human existence, my greatest gift, which I rarely confer. "Lux in Domino", that is: Peace, which is priceless. My parents died in 1979 and 1996 at the ages of 79 and 70. As orphan, who never found kindness in my own nation, under your parental care to a jobless Filipino puppy, and due "diligence of a good father of a family" (legal phrase in Philippine Civil Code), rest assured that this posted animation may temper the stress of your non-tiring efforts towards making Wikipedia a better and harmonious place for co-existence among editors and admins (including my former parent, Ian who is an amin and coach hopeful). Ian (a wealthy Laguna high school most promising geek), told me that he was inspired by my story and 9 years Philippine sufferings, as" jobless judge in pretend world." But now, I found this sole job, sitting 9 hours in Wiki bench not a jurist, but as a philo-searcher of kindness and deepest compassion.

My Wiki agenda, mission, vision and philosophy is wisdom - not to revert, delete, format, clean up, correct grammar, and the likes: but to painfully add positive, long lasting encyclopedic articles. Wikipedia articles must be contributed and edited my [[metamorphosis] -: such that an article is baked and cooked by at the very least, 50 different contributors. What I hate most, is to to find an article being hatched by only a handful of Wiki editors.
In my contributions and creations to Wikipedia[18], I watched these articles, and found, that 70% of them --- each articles, like Ces Drilon and New Cross double murder, as examples, by metes and bounds - I carved about 70% of the entire articles, but I consider my Wiki fiat, as only 1% or minute contribution vis-a-vis the flooding contributions however small, the roles, of so many Wiki editors. This is the essence and philosophy of : "Wikipedia is written collaboratively by volunteers from all around the world. Since its creation in 2001, Wikipedia has grown rapidly into one of the largest reference Web sites, attracting at least 684 million visitors yearly by 2008. There are more than 75,000 active contributors working on more than 10,000,000 articles in more than 250 languages. As of today, there are 2,463,940 articles in English; every day hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world make tens of thousands of edits and create thousands of new articles to enhance the knowledge held by the Wikipedia encyclopedia." Notice of Max apology and hiding of IP address

I had been building my case, with the evidence at hand. To better appreciate my master thesis of conspiracy that my resigned parent User:Ianlopez1115 emailed to me, to muscle me vis-a-vis Psalm 109, suffice it to say, that,[19] User:Ianlopez1115[20] did resign because of this conspiracy. The dispute dragged because, even, if I, Ian and Diligent Terrier tried our best to peacefully and amicably end this, still, the mystic of paranormal battle shrowds this case. May I quote Ian's posted message:

"I received some notice that I had quite neglected my duties as your adopter. Due to those "allegations" or what not, ... It is also my duty to monitor and defend your edits, if necessary. Sir, it is your wish for me to be replaced by a Wikipedian of non-Filipino origin. However, I'm giving you advise and help you out, even if I no longer adopt you. Good evening po and may God send us good leaders to guide this country and this wiki. -iaNLOPEZ1115 · TaLKBaCK · Vandalize it 12:37, 17 March 2008 (UTC)"
My dear parent, with all due respect: the dragging dispute between me, Max and User:Cma is really a first in Wikipedia. It is rather spiritual than technical. I want to call your kind attention to this:
Max[21] admitted:
"I promise to be terse. It is not irrelevant to bring up evidence of a conflict of interest. You have a personal stake in "coconut healing oil" and thus what you choose to write about it should be critically viewed, especially if there are questions about the sources you use as evidence. 59.183.139.189 (talk) 06:57, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I wasn't logged in when I wrote this, but it was me. maxsch (talk) 12:28, 23 June 2008 (UTC)"
This is direly important in this discussion, since Max admitted per research that Max replied from India, Bombai.

When will Around the World start? - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 20:35, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Plaridel

Dear Parent, I now have hard evidence that Maxs and User:Cma have no agenda here, except the hidden vindictive yet spiritual request to prevent me from editing secret unspecified articles in Wikipedia that Max and Cma desire. If this is what they want, both can specify these. Enumerate these, and if Wiki rules permit, I will not edit or add to these articles. Why confuse Wiki foreign and Filipino administrators and editors including you, on our conflict? As the long and tedious discussion rages, one could not really discover what both want. So, tersely, I made this[23]. Please, parent, read this long discussion on Plaridel dire Aviation accidents and incidents on 3 Indian nationals. Any lawyer will tell you, that my evidence is not religious but circumstantial, pointing to the fact that Max went to India to consult Vedic and venerable tellers to decipher my very own dire actuations on many events worldwide which concerned many. Mystic India is not that simple, nor Max.

I am not sure if you can comprehend and read between the lines. Before these 3 deaths happened, the 3 Indians used regularly my own rented PC Internet in Plaridel. I had forewarned many Indians about the Cessna planes crashing - worst not the crash but mystic collisions before my every head and eyes circa the time Max had been on this Wiki thing. I resist and stay away from all of these controversial Wiki posting of religious discussions lest I be misinterpreted by skeptics and atheists, that I deeply respect, since I am a closed scientist and debunked psychic phenomena, even if I am a closed Catholic. Yes, I move things. Yes, I am gifted. But I keep this to myself. But Max is confusing editors here. Max should go DIRECT TO THE POINT. Regards.--Florentino floro (talk) 09:49, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Dear Diligent. Can you please tell floro that this is in very poor taste. maxsch (talk) 14:01, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Out of Control

A propos of Floro's newest obsession, my alleged connection to India and airplane crashes, please look at this edit [24]. Honestly, as the host of a long and hopefully not pointless discussion about him and me, you must have some insight now. It would be a big help if you would comment at the user RFC that YOU RECOMMENDED THAT I START [25]. If there is something you are waiting for, perhaps you could let me know. maxsch (talk) 21:05, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

User:Flaminsky vis-a-vis User:Cma and IP address of Max

Thanks for your best efforts to help us resolve our conflicts in utter good faith. For the truth to be unveiled, I took pains to read the Wiki policies and rules, but I need your advise as parent on this. I hope this is not TLDR, in view of the first impression nature of our conflict. Regards.

Request for enlightenment on the interpretation of Wiki rules

Who is User:Cma?/Dom/Dominique Gerald Cimafranca

User:Flaminsky, deleted due to vandalism, created User:Cma. Who is Flaminsky and Cma? This is answered by Cma's edit of link:[27] - which clearly and unequivocally showed that Cma is: Filipino Wikipedian and blogger:Dominique Gerald Cimafranca or "Dom"

Why did Cma/Dominique Gerald Cimafranca delete by edit the link?

Answer: Cma made a mistake of exposing his identity in Wikipedia, amid Cma's only agenda in Wikipedia: Surveillance and police investigative journalism as blogger contra all those who might be :inflicting their wrath through letters, blogs, Photoshop contests, and other zany means of reaction" commited by a specific User:Florentino floro. Cma committed a mistake that Floro is anti Gma. Floro never voted since 1965 and is apolitical, a pure scientist, and hater of psychic phenomena, closed Catholic though, but respect skeptics and atheists so much. The predictions and prophecies of Floro were all over internet, since Floro as lawyer is aware that Floro cannot Libel, defame or attack anybody lest he be indicted. Thus, Floro's wit, cleverly used religion and free speech by using Cryptology: angels, imprecation, etc. all protected by Wikipedia and USA Philippines laws and policies. IP Address of User:Maxschmelling

[49]With all due respect, may I please write hereunder, a very important - critical fact of this discussion. Max used an IP address and later asked apology for not using Max's username. This is utter bad faith, which might have caused the mediator/s to be misled. At any rate, I write this for the better solution of this dispute in good faith::Max[50] admitted:

I'm not sure that it is direly important. In fact I think it is pretty much irrelevant. I was passing through Mumbai, using an unfamiliar computer and I wasn't logged in. I soon added my username to the unsigned comments so that no one would be misled. I am not from India, but as I have said before, my natioanality is of no importance to this dispute. maxsch (talk) 14:02, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi DiligentTerrier, it's me this time. I really hope that, between that diff max posted and this wall of text that Floro just posted, you have a much clearer grasp on how serious this matter is. I'm not entirely sure what he's trying to say but I think he's accusing me of being a sockpuppet of someone whose vandalism I reverted in 2005, exposing my "real name" (it isn't), and linking maxsch to airplane crashes in India. Please do take the time to comment on the RFC. --Migs (talk) 12:01, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Requesting for adoption

Hello!

I'm a French experimented user s(very active in his local Wikipedia) eeking for an adopter. I'm looking for someone who could explain me all the US specificities of Wikipedia, as for instance the procedure to send copyrighted pictures, using the Fair use act, or about how we fight against vandalism in there.

An adopter has offered me his help, but I think he doesn't suits to me. May you adopt me if you think you'll be able to help me, please? I'll tell Chubbennaitor that he doesn't meets my personal requirements as soon as the deed is done.

Thanks! Diti (talk to the penguin) 17:13, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

You are now adopted, per your request on my talk page. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 21:08, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Still adopting?

Hi DT. I see you've adopted another user. I'm not sure that's so wise. Your lack of interest in one of your other adoptees, User:Florentino floro, is causing plenty of trouble. Will you please write a conclusion to the mediation you so graciously hosted (and so graciously ignored)? And will you please comment on the RFC for Floro? Need I remind you again that it was your idea to create one. And finally, will you please tell him to stop researching and disparaging my and user:cma's "real" identities? He takes your silence as approval for his behavior. maxsch (talk) 21:36, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Maybe you didn't notice, but I did ask him to stop. I have never ignored Florentino floro, in fact I've done a lot to help him, but I came into this situation a bit late after the previous adopter resigned from his adoption of Florentino floro (and I can see why). So please do not say that I have been ignoring everything. I will comment on the RFC and close the mediation as soon as I have time. Thanks. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 20:29, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
I did notice. I also noticed that you only did so after repeated requests by me and migs. I also noticed that you didn't address any of the other myriad issues, and you didn't tell him that his behavior was inappropriate (which it most definitely was), only that it was "distracting". I'm sorry if I am frustrated with you, but you have not helped the situation with floro at all. He thinks you are watching his edits and approve of all those you don't comment on. As a semi-retired editor with plenty to worry about, I wonder what you have to offer a new adoptee. I don't think you have ignored everything, but I still think some substantive comments from you on both the mediation page and the RFC are long overdue. maxsch (talk) 21:57, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
I can't be a puppet for whatever you want me to exactly say. Please keep in mind that adoption and mediation are two separate things. « Diligent Terrier (talk) 22:11, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
So, I see you've been active on and off lately. Do you have time to comment on the RFC and the mediation yet? I'm not asking you to be a puppet; I'm asking you to be involved. If you don't want to be involved it is obviously your choice, but if you are not going to be involved I would ask you to stop calling yourself floro's adopter. maxsch (talk) 22:47, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Falsification of Signature?

Dear parent, as your adoptee, may I please ask for enlightenment on this grave or blatant violation of Wikpedia rules. Max used an IP address with India, Mumbai Server, alleging Max passed thereat. This is the critical fact: Max, in the Edit Summary, typed this:

  • Revision history of User:Diligent Terrier/Florentino floro and Maxschmelling:(cur) (last) 06:57, 14 June 2008 59.183.139.189 (Talk) (64,250 bytes)(→Statement by administratorUser:Rkitko) (undo)[55]
  • Clearly, therefor, Max made it appear that administrator User:Rkitko participated, acted and signed the Wiki signer, when in fact Rkitko did not. Max in fact asked for apology, admitting that Max was the one who posted the falsified message.
  • Is this a blatant violation of Wikipedia Rules (which I will, as I hereby reserve) to present to the proper Adm. Notice Board, inter alia, for comment), after with all due respect to your reply. I will alert admin. Rkito on this, and admin User:Lenticel, for comment.

Fait accompli

I never tried to discover Max or Cma's personal phone, credit cards, etc. It was Cma's blunder to have edited Flaminsky and then added the link which revealed DOM. This is serious. Since, I am questioning deleted User:Flaminsky's right whatsoever to participate in these dragging Rfc, etc.

  • Wikipedia repeatedly warns on the disadvantages of signing with IP address. Wikipedia know the scores of lawsuits that Google, etc. had had. Max's blunder of Mumbai signing, in essence revealed the truth. Truth was not sought for by me, but it fatefully unfolded amid assume good faith covers.
  • A user page cannot contain any use or misuse of the rules, law and policies of Wikipedia and US, UK and Philippine laws, lest Wikipedia's reputation and reliability be diminished. (Google, Viacom, YouTube were involved in tedious litigations).
  • User's Mike G., Cma, Lenticel and I, had indicated that we are either alumni or students of Ateneo de Manila University amid Wikipedia's policy and rule of harmonious etiquette among editors.
  • For 9 years, I studied in the Ateneo, as ex-seminarian and Jesuit ex-candidate for priesthood. In memory, I retain the noble "ratio studiorum" of St. Ignatius Ateneo's "Manual of Discipline" for students and alumni.
  • Articles 19, 20 and 21, New Civil Code is the most fundamental Code on Phil. human relations which also covers Wikipedia English (USA, UK, and Phil. laws govern). Article 171/172 RPC[56][2. Causing it to appear that persons have participated in any act or proceeding when they did not in fact so participate;3. Attributing to persons who have participated in an act or proceeding statements other than those in fact made by them;4. Making untruthful statements in a narration of facts]
  • [57][CHAPTER 2

Art. 20. Every person who, contrary to law, wilfully or negligently causes damage to another, shall indemnify the latter for the same.Art. 21. Any person who wilfully causes loss or injury to another in a manner that is contrary to morals, good customs or public policy shall compensate the latter for the damage.]

  • Since you and my ex-parent Ianlopez indicated that you are Filipino Wikipedians, I appeal to you, in assume good faith, to faithfully try your best as parent, to amicably end this dispute, with the kindness of User:Efe.
  • I received today, the June 3, 2008 S.C. En Banc Resolution expunging from the records, my April 4, 2008 7th final appeal, without contempt warning however. I remain today a jobless judge in pretend world. This is my destiny, and I believe in Wikipedia rule of law. (It is now exactly 25 long years, that as ex-seminarian, the 3 holy angels ridiculed in judgment as dwarfs first appeared to us on June 2, 1983).
  • I fully respect Mike G, Lenticel and all of Filipino editors here, amid these. But I found compassionate application of Wiki rules by unknown foreign editors who could not understand these. I never found kindness in my own country, I found it in Wikipedia.
  • Vide: IP Address of User:Maxschmelling discussion above:[58]With all due respect, may I please write hereunder, a very important - critical fact of this discussion. There he goes again

Hi again Diligent, I thought maybe my comments and max's might be getting buried in all of Floro's text, but you seem to have gone online since Floro started trying to turn the issue around on us, so I'm hoping you get to see this. Considering that this is the third time this week that Floro's written one of these, surely you can see by now what our issues are with him. Again, please do consider commenting on the RFC, because as max said, Floro seems to be taking your silence as tacit approval of his edits, accusations, and actions. --Migs (talk) 13:28, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Floro is beginning to get off-subject, and at some point in time he's going to have to address his own behavior. Maxschmelling's situation is irrelevant to his own mistakes. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 15:49, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that, but given all the accusations Floro's throwing out, don't you think that as his adopter you should at the very least inform him that these are all in very poor taste, especially since his claims about us are objectively incorrect/inflammatory and subjectively creepy? --Migs (talk) 16:10, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Categories

Just a heads up — it's not really appropriate for you to change the name of articles in categories during an ongoing WP:CFD, even if you think the result of the CFD is inevitable or predictable. Many users like to see what a category looks like in terms of contents at the time of nomination, and they cannot if the articles are removed. The same goes for creating the new proposed category during the CFD — not a great idea as it causes confusion and is really a premature action by a few days. Thanks! Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:23, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Didn't mean to cause any confusion here. I closed the CFD in accordance with the WP:MOS guidelines, and the consensus to do so. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Thanks, - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 17:26, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Even if there is a consensus for a speedy rename, WP:CFDS requires a minimum period of 48 hours between the nomination and renaming. Good Ol’factory (talk) 22:18, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes; correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe I changed them just after it became 48 hours. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 00:25, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
For the Quantum Gravity ones, the nomination is listed as being posted at 14:54, 29 July 2008 (UTC). Your closing is listed as taking place at 22:57, 29 July 2008 (UTC). That's only 8 hours, which is 40 short of the minimum time period. Cgingold complained at 20:23, 29 July 2008 (UTC) that the categories had been changed in all the articles already, so that takes us down to more like 5½ hours. Unless I'm missing something here ...
