Willis Tower Lunchbox Entrance Draft[edit]

Hi, remember me, im the one working on that draft of the "Willis Tower Lunchbox Entrance". i have an idea. what if i retitled it, or just made a new draft with new name but same stuff, and its just like the History of Renovations on the Willis Tower, or Willis Tower Renovations. would that be more likely to be approved since thats also what it has kinda become that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChiserYT (talkcontribs) 17:21, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@ChiserYT: it still seems like it would be a better idea to simply contribute to Willis Tower instead. There's an entire section dedicated to the history of the tower, which currently includes planning, construction, and damages to the building. Perhaps a subsection dedicated to renovations would be a good idea. If you're 100% dedicated to creating a separate page then feel free to rename the article (click on the "move" button located under "more" on the top right of the page) and resubmit the draft and then wait and see if another reviewer will publish it for you. Hi – I finally got around to removing the duplicate WikiProject Media category on the Talk:CBC Radio page. I removed it very easily and saved it. I don’t know what might have created the duplicate entry. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 22:23, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 04:32:25, 29 January 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Joel Cosgrove[edit]

Hi, regarding the references, they were listed in regards to the founder's history, which the links coincide with the founder. Should the page be created for the founder? There has been lots of radio mentions of the podcast, but the radio programs do not have links to their stories. I did find one, but before adding it, I wanted to inquire regarding the current links, since they are only attributed to the founder, and they make sense in the context in which they are placed. Please advise. Thank you.

Joel Cosgrove (talk) 04:32, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Joel Cosgrove: I haven't read the sources as thoroughly as you or as recently as you. You would have a better idea of whether the sources actually support the sentences where they are referenced, but my guess is that any statements about the podcast itself are not supported by any of the sources considering the podcast is not mentioned in any of the sources. I would recommend cutting most of the current sources, but I suppose you could leave some to explain the history and inspiration for the show. What you really need is a review of the podcast or "best podcasts of <insert year>" where the show is addressed directly rather than a WP:TRIVIALMENTION or name checking. Radio sources are fine, but they are harder to cite (you might find the audio on the web archive) and harder for reviewers to evaluate. I would definitely trim out the promotional wording so the article has a more WP:NPOV and less WP:PUFFERY. I would also recommend removing a lot of the WP:WIKILINKS. WP:AFC Helper News[edit]

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.

  • AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
  • The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. LOL, now I feel silly... I had not looked at the edit histories, and it looks like you wrote all four of them! LOL Well, hopefully they all get published. :) BOZ (talk) 13:44, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@BOZ: no worries. I was trying to find any D&D podcasts other than The Adventure Zone or Critical Role that might be notable and these were the only four I could find any sources on. I'm not sure if any of them will actually make it to mainspace because even these have pretty borderline coverage, but I thought I'd give it a go and see what happens. I appreciate that you thought to let me know about some articles I might be interested in and I'd also appreciate any contributions you make to the articles.
Maybe you can answer a question for me. Do you know what to do if I've created a draft like Draft:The Broadswords (podcast) that I don't believe will ever pass WP:N? Should I just leave it alone until it gets deleted or maybe use G6/G7 speedy deletion? Or is there a totally different process for requesting the deletion of a draft? TipsyElephant (talk) 17:52, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you truly believe it has no future on Wikipedia, I am sure there is a process to request a speedy deletion of your own draft, although if you want to give it more time just in case then you can wait the six months and it will be deleted at that time. BOZ (talk) 17:55, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A Rivals of Waterdeep article was just published today - I don't know if you want to do a history merge with your draft and then merge in your sources? It might be best to work that out with the creator User:Sariel Xilo. BOZ (talk) 23:00, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Rivals already had an article (created June 2020) - it was a redirect so I updated that page directly. Feel free to merge and improve; I don't have time to build out all 12 seasons of episode tables which might be a good starting point. I want to flag that Rivals is a web series that has a podcast adaptation & not a podcast first. The biggest issue I've had is finding broadcast dates. It looks like it was simultaneously streamed for initial seasons on the D&D YouTube & Twitch channels before it moved over to Rivals of Waterdeep's dedicated channels. That's when you start to get broadcast dates that are all over the place as it was inconsistently ported over to YouTube & podcast channels after the Twitch broadcast. I grabbed the Twitch broadcast links and popped them into Wikipedia's auto-citation to pull the dates (Twitch only lists dates such as "a year ago" or "five months ago" but the citation bot can translate that into something usable). Luminary[edit]

Sure, but you unnecessarily removed a lot of perfectly fine references in the process. We went from everything referenced in that section to just a single reference (for Guy Raz). --77.162.8.57 (talk) 16:21, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CSC states that "Short, complete lists of every item that is verifiably a member of the group" is an appropriate use of a list and WP:MINREF states that inline citations are only required for direct quotes, statements that are likely to be challenged, or contentious material. I don't believe anything in the table requires a citation, but you could add a references column if you feel it is necessary for the table. I did not feel it was necessary to have two references for each and every non-controversial claim that someone was associated with the network. Personally, I would have declined the draft based on the WP:REFBOMBing. I would recommend re-integrating the sources into the article and using the sources to beef up the prose rather than simply citing them in the table. Draft:Sanny Rudravajhala[edit]

Hello - I’m new to how the discussions work, so I put this below your comment on three sources. But not sure if you’d then see it - so have added below too. Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for the message. I’ll do a range of different types with a couple of articles and links:

Noteworthy - Daily Mirror article on him having a new baby in strange circumstances:

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/radio-presenter-learns-wife-labour-26309550

Out of Our League - on BBC Sounds - this is a documentary series permanently available that was national and internationally nominated - which he co-presented and co-produced: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/p08q9nr2 + newspaper article on series:

https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/new-bbc-podcast-charts-bury-18918505

And he presents a national programme here - although this is weekly updated during the football season which has now finished and the episodes stay for 30 days each:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/p099jr69

He is quoted here with equal prominence as an a ex-England footballer and sky sports pundit: https://www.footballfancast.com/west-brom-transfer-rumours/west-brom-steve-bruce-scott-twine-championship-latest-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-wba-hawthorns-baggies

And finally I don’t know if this counts but I saw he put a showreel out which is obviously all tv clips and radio do you can see it at least here: https://twitter.com/sannyr1985/status/1528838109366042624?s=21&t=sfbTJhZKUshLLvjRsKMafA Radiogeek2019 (talk) 09:45, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 21:19:30, 12 June 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Wicontrib22[edit]

Thank you TipsyElephant for your feedback. Please clarify concretely what is needed. I checked the references and footnotes and everything seems correct. Wicontrib22 (talk) 21:19, 12 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Wicontrib22, I declined your draft for a couple reasons. First of all, you haven't addressed the previous commenter's concerns that the education and career sections are unsourced. In addition, the entire blockade section is unsourced, and the rest of the sections contain lists of claims about the person that are unsourced as well. WP:BLPs generally adhere to the WP:MINREF guidelines more strictly than other articles. Personally, I would simply remove the lists and replace them with prose supported by reliable sources and remove any material that can't be supported by reliable sources. If you want more info on lists you could give WP:LISTDD a quick read. TipsyElephant (talk) 01:22, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello TipsyElephant, Many thanks for your clarification. I will fix this. Wicontrib22 (talk) 21:04, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@HHA LTP: I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "writing such a section". I need you to go to Draft talk:David E. Olson and respond to the questions I asked regarding your connection to David E. No conflict of interest[edit]

I have no connection to Crime Writers On other than the fact that I listen to the podcast, follow on social media, and drafted this Wikipedia article. This was the first and only Wikipedia article I ever made because it took a long time, and it was the only one I felt like making. 97.68.62.130 (talk) 18:45, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Bobbydesmond (or at least I assume this is Bobbydesmond), I'm glad to hear that you don't have a conflict of interest. I was looking over the article and I hope you aren't too discouraged by some of my edits. I review articles at article for creation and personally I would have declined this draft for being promotional and not having a neutral point of view. I think it's very possible that the subject is notable and that's probably why the draft was originally accepted, but it needs some work. I was particularly concerned with the number of sources that you cited which is considered reference bombing or citation overkill. It'd be best if the sources were pared down to only the reliable sources that are independent of the podcast and hosts. It would also be best to remove any sources that don't contain any more than a trivial mention of the podcast. For instance, if it doesn't contain at least a paragraph about the podcast it's probably not worth keeping. Feel free to ping me or leave a message here on my talk page for assistance or ask questions at the teahouse. TipsyElephant (talk) 19:01, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bobbydesmond: it be best if you responded to my question on the talk page Talk:Crime_Writers_On so that when others work on the page they know you don't have a conflict of interest. TipsyElephant (talk) 12:32, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Talk pages[edit]

Sorry, I'm new to this and find all these different talk pages very confusing. I click reply on your comments, it doesn't automatically post my replies to the talk page of my draft? Ehmg (talk) 03:27, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ehmg, this is the talk page associated with my user page. It looks like you replied to a discussion I was having with another user regarding a different page so I've split this into a new section. If you want the help page discussing talk pages you can read WP:TALKPAGE, but the gist of it is that every page on Wikipedia has a corresponding talk page where editors can discuss how to best improve the article. For instance, Draft:Iman Maghsoudi is the regular Wikipedia page that you're working on and we can discuss how to improve the page on the corresponding talk page: Draft_talk:Iman_Maghsoudi. My user page, User:TipsyElephant, is where you can learn about what conflicts of interest I have, what WikiProjects I'm a member of, editing preferences and abilities such as the languages I speak or the version of English I use, my personal beliefs or background, pages I've worked on, and whatever else I might want to include. Your user page, User:Ehmg, is currently blank and that's okay but feel free to add stuff there if you'd like (just make sure you don't violate guidelines on what User Pages are not). User talk pages are typically for various notifications and discussions specific to the user. For instance, your user page, User talk:Ehmg, includes a notification letting you know that I declined your draft and includes an invitation to ask questions at the teahouse. TipsyElephant (talk) 13:34, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Developing Radio Partners Draft + Citations[edit]

Hello TipsyElephant, I am new to using Wikipedia, and was trying to create an article for the organization Developing Radio Partners. I saw that you had rejected it for a lack of significant sources, and I am having trouble finding a clear answer on what would be considered a "significant" amount of sources. I know that I should focus on sources that focus primarily on the subject, and as of now, I have included a RadioWorld article and a Reuters article that I would say primarily focus on Developing Radio Partners. I am wondering if there is a specific amount of sources that would be sufficient? Or is there a better place to reach out to ask this question? Thanks. Gedirem (talk) 19:10, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Gedirem, I declined (rejecting a draft means you don't get the option to resubmit) your draft because I did not believe that it passed the requirements of WP:GNG or WP:NCORP. It does appear that the Radio World source is a decent one, but the Reuters source doesn't say much about the company itself. To clearly demonstrate notability I would expect to see three sources that are reliable and independent with more than a trivial mention of the company. If the source does not have an absolute minimum of 100 words specifically dedicated to the subject, in this case DRP, then it's probably a trivial mention. Wikipedia's notability guidelines for organizations is particularly stringent (see WP:CORPDEPTH) so it'd be best if you could provide four or five decent sources. Personally, I would recommend contributing to Bill_Siemering#Developing_Radio_Partners instead of creating a new page. If you have more questions consider asking them at the teahouse. @BOZ: unfortunately I don't think any of these have received significant coverage in reliable sources. Was there one in particular that you may have noticed some coverage for? Sariel Xilo were you interested in working on any of these? TipsyElephant (talk) 18:10, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Christopher Hoffman (draft)[edit]

Hello TipsyElephant Would you please reconsider this article on cellist Christopher Hoffman ? I understand that the early life segment wasn't supported with cites but I have removed any hyperbole. The subjects notability is established to provide music #4 by the New York Times review.

4. Has received important coverage in a reliable source of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country

6. Is a group which has two or more independently notable musicians, or is a musician who has been a member of two or more independently notable groups.

7. Has become one of the most important representatives of a notable style or the most important of the local scene of a city; note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards.

Thank you Mistephake (talk) 16:29, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've read your recent suggestions to improve the draft. Thank you for your suggestions. However, as you said, if the cites we both agree are enough to est notability and the fault in the article is a few uncited refs, wouldn't it be possible to remove that content and accept the article? I plan to make updates as the subjects career continues to evolve. Mistephake (talk) 15:10, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mistephake: there is a lot of unnecessary and unverifiable content in the draft. Guidelines concerning inline citations and verifiability are more strict for a BLP, and the fact that you're being paid means that greater care should be taken to follow guidelines. I also said that those sources "probably" demonstrate notability and recommended finding more sources. I'll take another look in a while and see what I can do. TipsyElephant (talk) 19:59, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I will not be paid for this article so I have removed the paid contributions clause. Thank you for your comments. I will resubmit now that the article has been trimmed down. I can verify that All About Jazz is probably the largest reliable contributor to jazz journalism than any other website on earth. In NYC we also have several small monthly publications with independent contributors ie New York Jazz Record that artists rely on to support and promote their work. In the last decade I've noticed that major news publications like the NY Times rarely cover the artform. Reviews are extremely rare and the journals, ie Downbeat, rarely make it out to shows. This ongoing trend of neglect limits any access to references for verification to a very select number of resources. Mostly relying on album reviews. ```` Mistephake (talk) 15:19, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mistephake: you can read Wikipedia:Reliable sources for an explanation of how the Wikipedia community determines whether a source is considered reliable and if you believe that All About Jazz is in fact reliable then you can open a discussion at WP:RSN where other Wikipedia editors will come to a WP:CONSENSUS on whether or not the source is reliable enough to help demonstrate notability. I should note that significant coverage in reliable sources is required to demonstrate notability. That means that trivial mentions in a source (i.e. the subject is only listed with other names or briefly mentioned in a sentence or two) do not contribute to notability. The source doesn't have to be a full length book and the subject of the source doesn't have to be explicitly focused on the subject of the Wikipedia article, but it does need to dedicate at least a paragraph or two to the discussion of the subject of the Wikipedia article. I'm aware that some topics do not get very much coverage in reliable sources, but that is not an excuse for allowing a page to be published on Wikipedia. For instance, Wikipedia is not everything that exists so Hoffman's existence does not confer notability, Wikipedia is not a means of promotion or advertising so making a page for someone you're connected to doesn't look great, and Wikipedia is not a social media website or place for a resume so writing every little detail of Hoffman's career is not appropriate. Perhaps it would be better to write a page about Hoffman's album Discretionary considering you have a couple reviews of the album. TipsyElephant (talk) 17:23, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Great to receive this info! thanks again Mistephake (talk) 17:51, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I often contribute to Wikipedia pages about podcasts, which until about 2019 did not receive much news coverage. That's about 15 years of podcasts with little to no sources available. Making Wikipedia pages for podcasts during that time extremely difficult or impossible. In fact, I have helped delete dozens of old pages about podcasts. Just because they existed doesn't mean they are notable by Wikipedia standards. TipsyElephant (talk) 17:27, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mistephake: you said you removed the paid editing templates from the page. Your user page says that "This user, in accordance with the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, discloses that they have been paid by Christopher Hoffman for their contributions to Wikipedia." Is this statement not true? You added the statement yourself. TipsyElephant (talk) 18:08, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I added that template before creating the article foreseeing payment. However at the time i submitted the article i was not paid and i forgot to remove the disclosure. I realize now I should not added the template until payment has been met. Mistephake (talk) 18:31, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
to clarify: at the time i created the article i was expecting payment. In the future i will not add the template unless i am actually paid. In this case many months have passed and i neglected to remove the template. I am always trying to comply with wiki's paid contributions requirements. Notice

The file File:Entitled Opinions Podcast.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:DECORATIVE use of non-free cover art in Robert Pogue Harrison#Entitled Opinions which fails WP:NFCC#8. Non-free cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about the works they represent when the cover art is used for primary identification purposes at the top of the article or in the main infobox, but its use in other articles or in other ways is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular cover art anywhere in the article, and the rationale provided for the file's use is no longer valid since the original target article Entitled Opinions now redirects to the article about the host of the podcast.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:17, 1 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Nicholas Quah requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nicholas Quah. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hello, TipsyElephant. Thank you for creating Bring the War Home. User:VickKiang, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

Thanks for this article! The refs are good and the topic is notable, with multiple in-depth refs. The article could be expanded and the lede is a bit short, but given the article's length it probably isn't necessary.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|VickKiang}}. Please remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Feedback on draft[edit]

Hello. I saw you’re a member of WikiProject Books, and was hoping you could provide feedback on the latest draft. User:Jc702bxg/sandbox. This is my first article. The book is entitled Wanting: The Power of Mimetic Desire in Everyday Life. Do you think it meets WP: Notability (books)? I have a COI as someone who knows Burgis. Thank you for your help. Jc702bxg (talk) 19:38, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jc702bxg, your draft was very good compared to many of the drafts I've reviewed. I've decided to make it clearer that you have a conflict of interest and accept the draft to mainspace. Congratulations on getting your first article published! I hope you continue to contribute to Wikipedia and perhaps work on subjects with which you have no COI. Ways to improve Bundyville[edit]

Hello, TipsyElephant,

Thank you for creating Bundyville.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

At two sentences, the lede is too short and doesn't summarise the article adequately. Some of the refs lean on the shorter side, but others are SIGCOV and notability is definitely met, so thanks for the article!

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|VickKiang}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Draft[edit]

Hi there! :) Do you have anything to help with Draft:Friends at the Table? BOZ (talk) 17:25, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@BOZ: it looks like it's unlikely to be notable, but I'll see if I can scrounge up any good sources. TipsyElephant (talk) 18:13, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's fair. :) BOZ (talk) 18:20, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@BOZ: I was wrong. I had some time this evening and I think it probably is notable. I worked on it a bit, but it definitely needs more work. I've found quite a few sources, but I'll keep looking. Thanks for letting me know about this draft. TipsyElephant (talk) 00:12, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Review requested for your warning label[edit]

Looks like after 3 weeks there are no takers for doing the edit requests I made in response to your request to improve Talk:Wanting: The Power of Mimetic Desire in Everyday Life in order to get rid of the warning template I believe you placed. You had said you might consider doing it yourself if no one responded in a week or so. I really appreciate the help you’ve provided in doing the initial review and thanks too for giving me the links to the policies. Might you review the requests to improve the article and get rid of the tag? 20:23, 2 November 2022 (UTC) Jc702bxg (talk) 20:23, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey TipsyElephant,

I saw that you had declined this draft of Jaackmaate for consisting of too many unreliable sources like YouTube, Twitter, Spotify and Metro. After your decline I saw that the draft was submitted once again, which mainly consisted of... well, sources like YouTube, Twitter, Spotify and Metro. So I took the liberty of removing those sources and adding new ones that provide stronger evidence of notability. I found local newspaper sources like Eastern Daily Press and Norwich Evening News, articles from TenEighty Magazine (which I think is decently reliable for internet news), and an extra ITV News source. Not only that, but I found he was listed at #88 on a list of the most influential UK content creators from reliable outlet The Sunday Times. Overall, I think this should be enough for him to pass GNG. If you wish to review the draft again, here's this heads up. Thanks, PantheonRadiance (talk) 23:00, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
