@Thomediter: Firstly, I wouldn't consider removing inappropriate constant and adding a notability tag to an article as being mean. Secondly, the tag itself explains why it's there, so read it. And also read WP:NOTABILITY. All the sources I've found just mention the game is coming out. There is no preview coverage, or much information on its development/gameplay. Therefore, it probably shouldn't be an article until there is more significant coverage from reliable, secondary sources, like critic reviews. --The1337gamer (talk) 10:19, 7 January 2018 (UTC)

No need to commentlessly revert the redirect twice. As pointed out, both articles carry just about no sources, and as such fail WP:GNG (keep in mind that notability is not WP:INHERITed). Collaborating on Halo

Hey The1337gamer, you seem to be willing to rescue the first Halo's Wikipedia entry from the FAR situation that's been brewing lately. I'd like to lend my hand for this effort, but in my view the first order of business will be to assemble a credible information base to beef up the article's Development section, which seems substandard to me. I think it is important to obtain scans of an article from Electronic Gaming Monthly's Issue 151 (February 2002) titled "Afterthoughts – Halo", which explains the rationale behind some of the more fundamental revisions made to the game during its development. However, neither this particular issue nor the feature seem to be available in electronic form, as do many of EGM's issues from the early 2000s. I wonder if you happened to come across this article or know some way to access it in the short run? I would be much obliged to be able to count on your support. Notability of The Sims 4 Game Packs

Hi The1337gamer, I noticed you've tagged The Sims 4: Jungle Adventure as questionable notability. I was curious as to whether or not this is applicable to other expansion packs for the game that have their own articles. I've been focused on editing The Sims articles recently because the franchise is very near to my heart, so I would appreciate other viewpoints as to the notability of these specific expansion pack articles. I'm also more than happy to continue working on articles such as this and others that are lacking citations, as I have been able to find more sources other than what is already featured on the article. @Nanophosis: I have similar issues with the other Sims 4 articles. These articles are very short and there is no coverage from reliable sources on the development and design of these expansions. Reception/review coverage is minimal as well. I think merging them to one article would be more appropriate than having 10 separate articles. An article titled something like The Sims 4 expansion packs or The Sims 4 downloadable content that covers all of the content from these expansion articles would work.--The1337gamer (talk) 18:18, 1 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi, have deprodded this to merge into the List of celebrity appearances in video games. That list is currently unreferenced so I will try to add a reference for every entry. Know how to get ahold of this? According to the cover, it contains something on Quantic Dream, which I wanna rewrite. The studio profile you suggested contributed a lot to Dontnod Entertainment.   • I don't have this issue of Edge and I don't think it has a detailed Studio Profile feature like the one on Dontnod in #293. It does have an interview with David Cage though. Edge republished the interview from #240 on their website. Here's a link: [1]. Wow ye, just checked it myself. Word for word copy there. I've noticed this a few times with some of my work on Wikipedia. Writers for video game websites or YouTubers copying stuff almost exactly from Wikipedia articles that I edited. I feel like a handful of WP:VG's most dedicated editors are better content writers than the majority of the video game press anyway and we do it for free. --The1337gamer (talk) 20:26, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

About DS Bosses list

I just thought "Hey, since there are already lists of video game characters, why not make this list?". And I know about the part on "no boss lists on Wikipedia"(at least now I do). I would assume that the bosses within the Souls games have more significance than the main characters and are one of the important parts of the series gameplay-wise. Most lists of video game characters are really poor quality and shouldn't exist. It's just that a lot of them are old and nobody has bothered to deal with them. We have actually redirected/deleted a bunch of them in recent years. We should only write about video game characters that have real world significance and not focus too much on the in-universe perspective. Dark Souls bosses, while they are a significant component of the games, they are not really subject to coverage outside of that fictional universe. A boss list also runs the risk of being written too much like a game guide since the player's interaction with the characters is simply fighting them, and Wikipedia is not a game guide. Content like this is better for a Dark Souls wiki rather than Wikipedia. --The1337gamer (talk) 18:45, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

Video game guideline on external links is here: WP:VG/EL. Open wikis are usually a no. But it says that if the link has substantial information that is relevant but not necessarily encyclopedic in nature, like a dedicated wiki, then it may be added on a case-by-case basis. So you're best off making a topic on the talk page of the article you want to add the link on to see if other editors think it is appropriate or not. --The1337gamer (talk) 19:27, 24 May 2018 (UTC)

Regarding “Windows” on Sea of Thieves

Regarding this revision of yours, when Microsoft Windows is first mentioned in any article, it goes by its full name, Microsoft Windows. The article is called “Microsoft Windows” and it is the name of the family of operating systems. Other articles, including articles about video games, use the full name of the operating system in the article body and infobox, and so does one of the examples in the template documentation for the infobox (look at the examples of the |platform= parameter. Plenty of video game articles just use "Windows". It is obviously not ambiguous in the context of a video game. Saying "Microsoft Windows" is just plain clumsy. Video game and tech sources almost never state "Microsoft Windows", therefore why should we? It's like writing "Microsoft Xbox 360" or "Sony PlayStation 4" etc. for every single platform. You don't see that on video game articles. The only reason people write "Microsoft Windows" is because the article is located at that title and people have some weird subconscious problem with using perfectly fine redirects (like Windows) instead of the actual page title, even when it is better to use the redirect. --The1337gamer (talk) 17:28, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
There is no problem with using redirect links (per MOS:NOPIPE and WP:NOTBROKEN), but in this case, we’re debating whether the infobox should say “Windows” or “Microsoft Windows.” As I said, other articles use the latter, and that is the name of the page and the operating system.
Perhaps we could use some help from another, experienced editor.

MOS:VG has no specific guidance on this, but it strikes me as a bit like the current discussion about whether to include video game in the lead. The argument "Everyone knows that a first person shooter is a video game" could just as easily be argued that "Everyone knows what Windows is when talking about video games". Your revert on Fallout (series)

Hi. Regarding your revert on Fallout (series), the article was initially written in British English (although using the MDY date format); I went back and checked old revisions on the page. I’m not sure if MOS:TIES counts video game series; it only mentions nations and modern writers. However, if a video game series does count, it should use American English. I suppose it could count since the video games are basted in America, but I’m unsure about that.

You also reverted my other edits. For instance, I also reverted a revision by 51.148.140.68 where he or shes moved the “Fallout New Vegas (2010” revision to the “Spin-off games” section. Even though it might take more time, I think it would be better to undo the edits that you need to undo manually instead of reverting entire revisions that have other valid, unrelated edits. @Interqwark: If you don't want large complicated edits reverted in total, don't make them. Use smaller edits to do individual edits at a time, not 4 unrelated changes together.   • It is completely irrelevant what the article was written in originally. WP:RETAIN says to retain the existing variety that has been established in the article. A revision from ~15 years ago is not established. The existing variety is obviously American English because that is what the article has almost if not entirely been written in for at least several years now. That is established. Yeah.....i wrote some nonsence about a character in the book cause i hadnt done enough research and most of my edit was utter bullshit and actually i was about to delete it miself when but then i saw you had already done this. But i gotta ask why there is no information about Dawn-over-Fields in the page about halo silentium. This character is there but the page doesnt mention him at all. @Editorguy117: Your view on this topic is naive, ignorant and incorrect. Reedetch is a vandal and has been blocked indefinitely. I hold no blame or responsibility for doing anything wrong here. I correctly reverted their vandalism and correctly warned them. They were blocked because of CheckUser evidence, which means they are a sockpuppet/previous vandal. Reedetch only posted this topic on my talk page because they are an idiot troll looking to waste my time and start an argument with me. It is typical behaviour for a troll to immediately go on the offensive when they've been reverted; genuine new users don't do that. I suspected they were a sockpuppet based on their edits and responses so I deliberately ignored them because that means the troll doesn't win. And as I said, nobody's even going to go there, because it's a computer website and so a ref window pop-ups. (Not that 99.9% will even check any reference reading an article, you know. But let's pretend people do check references.) Also since it's a computer website, font size can be regulated by user in any case at any moment, with no loss of quality, if there's a rare person that enjoys to read references sections.

Mystery Case Files: Escape From Ravenhearst

Dear The1337gamer, I´ve seen that you have reverted my edits on the article Mystery Case Files: Escape From Ravenhearst. I cannot understand this action, because the only thing that based on the IMDB source were the names of the actors. So it wouldn´t have been necessary to revert the whole article. If you agree I will make a screenshot of the credit scenes from the game where the actors are also mentioned and will integrate it into the article. An answer would be very kind. I can understand you concerns about IMDB, but if the sourcing in general was terrible and the notability was not established I think the articles Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst and Mystery Case Files: Return to Ravenhearst should also be reverted to redirection links. They are sourced and written the same way. If these both articles are not reverted I can't understand the deletion of Escape From Ravenhearst. What's confusing exactly? Do you think I alone have time to view all 5.7 million articles on Wikipedia and judge if notability has been established? At a glance, those two articles also looks like they fail notability and should probably redirected if they can't be improved to a sufficient standard.   • Bulbapedia is a user generated wiki. Anybody can edit it. It is therefore unreliable per WP:USERG.
  • Same rationale for Smogon. It's a user generated and unreliable.
  • Random people on Twitter (e.g. PokemonLegality) are unreliable sources.
  • GameRant listed as unreliable at WP:VG/RS after consensus.
  • LoadingXP and Twifinite both look like amateurish blogs. Avoid them.

Read WP:RS. I'd suggest using sources that have been vetted and listed as reliable at WP:VG/RS. --

Content from a collaboratively created website may be acceptable if the content was authored by, and is credited to, credentialed members of the site's editorial staff.

Smogon analyses and articles are primarily written by the site's contributor 'badgeholders', and cannot be approved/published without undergoing quality control from consistent, site-accredited qc teams. These contributors (and, usually, qc teams) are individually credited. I guess "credentialed" is a bit of a nebulous concept re: competitive Pokemon, but I can point to the in-site and Nintendo VGC tournament performances etc. of these members. (If I shouldn't be seeking this consensus here and need to go somewhere broader, I will, but if possible I'd prefer to do it here so I can get back to the article).   1. WP:VGBOX says "If a suitable English-language cover art already exists on the subject page, then do not waste time replacing it with a different version." There is already a suitable cover art present. It doesn't need to be replaced.
  2. WP:IMAGERES says shouldn't be more than 100,000 pixels. The image you uploaded is 562,000 pixels.
  3. The image you uploaded isn't even the cover art. It's a phone wallpaper. Compare it to the one that is currently in use on the article, which is the main cover used on retail boxes. The image you uploaded is cropped too closely around the soldier's head and the title text is in a different position. The aspect ratio is odd as well.

Was this action discussed anywhere beforehand? From my brief investigation it doesn't seem to comply with WP:BLAR; the article was well-sourced and doesn't seem to fit any deletion criteria. I noticed on Talk:List of generation VI Pokémon there's a section about the creation of the Greninja article, and an administrator gave the OK. I Too Wasn't Vandalizing

I added a legitimate review of Knack 2 with a valid source from an accredited reviewer and you repeatedly took it down. I do concede that my first posting's presentation was flawed with my calling it "The Only Actual Review," but with my second posting I simply titled it "Other Reviews" opening up the public's understanding of the reception of the game beyond the main stream reviewers while simultaneously inviting others to add other indie reviews to the list, once again to enhance the reader's understanding of the reception of this game. Furthermore, the article is cited as a stub, I was trying to remedy that problem in a small way. By preventing the public from adding details and nuance to the article you're explicitly contradicting the effort to amass a comprehensive, publicly edited, publicly accessible collection of information. Re: Ridley (Metroid) edit

Hi.

I had noticed that you had completely undone my edit on the Ridley (Metroid) page just because I cited a Wikia page. While it's true that Wikia in of itself is not a reliable source, the purpose of that citation was to link to a specific webpage that only provided a collection of photographed animation reference sheets, concept art, and other behind-the-scenes materials that are unfortunately not available elsewhere (to my knowledge). Essentially, the page in question contains minimal "unreliable information" (i.e. content added by the wiki's editor), since it largely consists of the gallery of images straight from the primary source. Unfortunately, directly linking to the image itself (the closest we have to the primary source) would be difficult, since Wikia images sometimes have a nasty tendency to shrink down to a thumbnail when viewed through an external link.

Additionally, I do not believe it was necessary to undo the entire edit, especially since there were other minor fixes made to the article in the same edit. If you were concerned about Wikia specifically, then removing the citation and adding a "citation needed" tag would have sufficed, along with bringing the topic to the talk page for discussion. Perhaps then, the primary source could be more easily identified.

Allow me to review my edit with you:
  • Adding "Mystery Creature", the specific creature's name according to sources such as Metroid: Other M Premiere Edition and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. This is no less "unnecessary" than specifying the name of "Little Birdie" in the same article, which is already present in the same paragraph.
  • Removal of "Ridley-X" (fan conjecture) and specifying the origins of "Neo Ridley" (Japanese media). This is the most necessary part of the edit, since (as I previously stated) it removes uncited fan conjecture from the article. If anything, I should have added the specific sources for "Neo Ridley" (in particular, Metroid Prime and Fusion Original Soundtracks and Nintendo Official Guide Book for Metroid Fusion).
  • Cutting down on the unnecessarily long description of Ridley's appearance in the Captain N comics, including someone's personal interpretation of his face appearing "more lizard-like".
  • Correcting vague wording ("cartoon series") that could be misinterpreted as the "Ridley impersonating a judge" plotline occurring in the TV series, since the word "cartoon" can also apply to animation.
All this is in addition to the aforementioned discussion about behind-the-scenes materials that are publicly available for viewing on this Wikia gallery. Surely, there was a better way to go about this than to just undo the whole thing? --PeabodySam (talk) 23:32, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

I've created my first wikipage: Draft:Bobo_Explores_Light and submitted it for review.

Later, I've started my second wikipage: Draft:Back_in_Time_(iOS_App) using the code of my first wikipage as starting point (probably not the best way to do this)

I left my work unfinished and the user: Hastethanwoman (now apparently retired) assumed I've made a mistake and moved (or redirected) my page second page to the first one.

I know that you've tried to revert Hastethanwoman edits

Now both pages showing exactly the same content

Can I undo this mess? could you explain me how.

  • @Coel Jo: Hi, I don't think I'm able to fix this. I think an admin will have to clean up the page moves. I'm guessing you want to move Bobo Explores Light back to its original location Draft:Back in Time (iOS App) so that you can continue working on it in draftspace? Then you'll be able to go into the history and change the revision back to what you wanted.
  • @Ferret and Sergecross73: Can either of you sort this out? One of Raymondskie99's socks moved another editor's article out draftspace. I think it needs moving back and all the mainspace redirect pages need to be deleted. --The1337gamer (talk) 12:34, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

Help with a small mess here....

Hey I saw you reported FairlaneIsPangit as a sock of Raymondskie99 good eye! However while reviewing new pages I have noticed a small mess left behind and not sure what to do here.

So he created the following drafts Draft:Bongo Cat, Draft:Hairy Jack, Draft:Moth Lamp and Draft:Is This a Pigeon?. Instead of moving the drafts to mainspace he just created the same articles in mainspace (Bongo Cat, Hairy Jack, Moth Lamp and Is This a Pigeon?). I'm thinking delete for the Hairy Jack draft and article since no other editors have touched the article and requesting histmerge for the other three drafts into their parent articles here. He also created the articles The Infographics Show, Tukomi and Dark complected man which haven't been edited by others. Based on my knowledge of socks they should just be tagged for detention (besides I don't believe the two YouTube channels would pass WP:GNG anyway.) He also created RP-S512 but one other editor has contributed to this article so it should be fine IMO. What do you think here? Is my understanding of policy and guidance correct in this matter?   • @Alucard 16: Per WP:EVADE and WP:DENY, any pages he has created that have not had substantial contributions from other editors can be deleted using {{Db-g5|Raymondskie99}}. If the page has had contributions from editors, then inform them first and judge on a case-by-case basis. Re:Diablo II citation

Hey. Regarding the Diablo II article listed as "Holiday 2000", there's no way to include the month, because the magazine itself lists "13/2000" as its publication date. It was a special holiday issue, as a lot of European magazines tended to have, published after the December issue. As a result, Holiday 2000 is the only legitimate date for the issue.   • I know that numerous magazines use "Holiday" or "Christmas" for their 13th issue but that should not be included because it's not valid publication date. Also the month on the front of the magazine is usually not the actual publication date, e.g. Edge #325 December 2018 was released on 16 October 2018. In the citation, we should use 16 October 2018, not December 2018. If the exact publication date or month isn't known, then just the year should be listed. It's useful to check the previous issue for the publication date because they usually say when the next issue is out. --The1337gamer (talk) 17:03, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
