Gibraltarian[edit]

He's actually a blocked user. He was blocked for personal attacks a month or so ago. Wikipedia:Vandalism_in_progress/Long_term_alerts#Blocked_User:Gibraltarian is a list of his sockpuppets and such. So yeah if you see him, revert him. --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 00:44, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PLz put back 'notorious' in puddle[edit]

You deleted the word notorious... and made your article less fun! (read in a acusatory tone :)
Plz put it back! And none of this encyclopedity nonsense!

Your RfA[edit]

I regret to let you know that your RfA didn't succeed. Many nominees do make admin on subsequent tries, so don't be discouraged. Check out the reasons that editors opposed your nomination and good luck next time! -- Cecropia 21:07, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Comiserations! I really thought you'd do it then but sadly, the sheep killed you ;). --Celestianpower háblame 22:16, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to try again in a couple of months. -- Eddie 22:25, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Darn, I can only wish you better luck next time. I'll still support in future nominations. :-D Cheers! — Moe ε 22:26, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Too bad but you'll probably do OK next time. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 22:28, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You will certainly be able to become an admin after a few months more experience. --TantalumTelluride 22:29, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's a shame your nomination didn't pass, but I wish you the best of luck next time around! --King of All the Franks 23:15, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about your RfA[edit]

Sorry to see you did not win. εγκυκλοπαίδεια* 02:19, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Same here, try after 3 months or so, I would nominate you if you are interested after some due diligence. While no. of edits is not everything, I'd like to see you going for rfa at 3000+ edits and daily average of 12+ edits with edits per page at the current level. You may want to close some Keep AFDs meanwhile. All the best, --Gurubrahma 07:35, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • If an adminship vote fails for "lack of experience" as did yours, that would mean that you're a very enthousiastic user who simply needs to keep up the good work for another month and a half, and then request the same again. Be a bit more active in the next few months and people will almost certainly support you. As such, happy editing! Radiant_>|< 12:33, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Very bad luck on your RfA. Thanks for the message! :-) If you get nominated again in the future I will be happy to offer you my support. haz (user talk) 13:03, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry about your RfA. It's puzzling to note that 1700 edits in 7 months equates to lack of activity for some. After what I've seen, I wouldn't think you're an inactive user. Anyway, keep it up and you'll get there next time! (Nice user page again, by the way. :)) Igor the Lion(Roar!) 20:06, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ditto; you would make a great admin. Hell, i thought becoming an admin wasnt supposed to be a big deal anyway. A lot of people who vote at RfA seem to take it more seriously than that though with their own ridiculously elitist standards. Although looking at the RFA again, it seems i didnt actually vote... oops. Better luck next time though. :) -- jeffthejiff (talk) 00:07, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Miscellany for deletion[edit]

Just to let you know that if you want one of your own user pages deleted, in most cases you can just request it and it can be speedily deleted by an admin: it doesn't have to be voted on. -- Francs2000 23:08, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Succesful RfA![edit]

Thank you for your support during my RfA! The community has decided to make me an administrator, and there's work to be done. I look forward to seeing you around the project in the future, and if you see me do anything dumb, let me know right away! Regards, CHAIRBOY () 23:26, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

An Esperanzial note[edit]

As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.

In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)

Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProjects[edit]

Hi Smurrayinchester!

Thanks for your note about WikiProject British TV channels and WikiProject British TV shows. I've looked at both (and have edits in many of the articles both cover) but I'm too busy not doing any work at WikiProject ITC Productions to start not doing any work at another TV project! ;)

But thanks for thinking of me and inviting me! ➨ REDVERS 23:25, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Hey, that was nice of you to nominate my user page. I appreciate the thought. (If yours wasn't already on the list, I'd definitely nominate yours: it is excellent.) - ElAmericano | talk 18:24, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there....[edit]

Congratulations, Smurrayinchester/Archive 2! Your user page has been nominated for the Esperanza User Page Award! Five judges will look over your user page and award it 1-10 points in four categories:

  • Attractiveness: general layout, considering colour scheme and/or use of tables if applicable
  • Usefulness: links to subpages or editing aids, helpful information
  • Interesting-ness: quirky, unique, captivating, or funny content
  • General niceness: at the judges' discretion

But first, you must be chosen as a finalist. If your user page is chosen as one of the five finalists, you'll have the chance to win an award created just for having a great user page!

More information can be found on this page.

Oh well...[edit]

...just as you beat me to nominate ElAmericano's so I guess we're even! ;) Cheers! - Phædriel tell me - 20:39, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thanks so much for the Tireless Contributor award! I've just been cursing and fuming about how much time I spend here, and although I know that people notice, I really do it for my own gratification (or maybe it really is just an addiction), but still it's very nice indeed to have a real award awarded! Thank you[edit]

For your kind support of my Rfa, which passed. If you should ever have any complaints about my admin actions, please let me know. Also, should you ever need my help with anything, please do not hesitate to ask! Thanks again! All the best Banez 17:06, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Britpop List[edit]

Hi, I wrote this on the AFD article:

I'm not proposing the deletion of the article or the Category:Britpop category, just that list! Could you tell me, how does that list help Wikipedia? Don't you see what's happening with it - people just come along and add their favourite British band in order to get an extra link! Early to mid 90s was 'my time' in music, and I'm British - and I sure know that Carter USM, Ned's Atomic Dustbin and Relaxed Muscle are not Britpop!

My problem is with that list. The category and article are enough. And I know my music, I do know what is and isn't Britpop :)

Cheers --kingboyk 23:00, 1 February 2006 (UTC) P.S. Nice user page design![reply]

My RFA[edit]

Hi Smurrayinchester/Archive 2, thanks for participating in my RfA discussion. Unfortunately, my fellow Wikipedians have decided at this time that I am not suitable to take on this additional responsibility, as the RfA failed with a result of 66/27/5 (71.0% support). I am, sadly, used to losing. If you voted in support of my request, thank you! If you decided to oppose me at this time, then I hope that if I do choose to reapply in the future, the effort I will make in the meantime to improve and expand my contributions to Wikipedia may persuade you to reconsider your position. All the best, Proto t c 15:30, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

problem=[edit]

Are you going to be a judge or a nominee on the User page contest? WikieZach 22:00, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try and put that a bit easier for you. You signed up to be a judge on WP:ESP/U. Your userpage has been nominated by Redvers, and you now need to decide whether you want to judge in this round, or have your userpage up for the award. As you can't be a judge and have your userpage nominated in the same round, please choose and remove your name from either judge or as a nomination. Thanks! FireFoxT • 22:13, 4 February 2006

No!![edit]

Hey, stop the spam! we are not spamming until a later date! KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 18:22, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize if that came off as rude, I had just had a discussion on IRC with FireFox, about waiting to spam, to fill up some of the week. I appreciate that you took the initiative, but Rune.welsh was the spammer this week, so if you could leave him a message saying that you've spammed the nominee's so he doesn't do it again. If you haven't spammed all the nominee's yet please finish. Of course the judges can't be spammed yet, and that's the most important spam I would think. lol Again thanks for trying to help. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 18:34, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User page awards[edit]

Hi Smurrayinchester. Thanks for telling me about my nomination. I do report a problem with my nomination though. On the awards page, where it lists my page up for nomination, there is a mistake. The mistake is my page is differant than the link provided. I think there might be an error, or maybe it's just my computer. Can you tell me if my page looks the same as the link provided in the nomination? — Moe ε 18:35, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just tried and it didn't work. The differance I see on my page, visibly seen, the "projects" section looks off-center. When I see my user page it's normal, but then I looked at the link and it looked off-center. Could you tell me if you see that? I think it's just the way my computer is but I can't be certain. — Moe ε 18:43, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Could I nominate the way my user page looks now that I fixed the problem? — Moe ε 21:59, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sherlock Holmes[edit]

Hi Neighbour,

I've been off for a few days - could you fill me in on the logic behind splitting up the Sherlock Holmes page into books and character? Thanks Pydos 12:54, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah it did seem in need of pruning, i just didn't envisage it like that! Possibly this needs consultation about to interlink the two better, but i don't have a major problem with there being two articles - there are already sister articles about adaptations and other main characters. Pydos 13:33, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Err...your not going to like me for this, but i'd expect to see both together! But if we keep them seperate i think it's gotta be Holmes - You want the man first, then the stories he was in...assuming we make it clear in both where the other half is. So i would get rid of Sherlock Holmes (Character), move that back to to Sherlock Holmes whch should have tasters explaining some key stuff, and then create a page called list of canonical Sherlock Holmes stories (or similar, assuming it doesn't exist already under a similar name). Any help? Pydos 13:42, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok - see what the rest of the 'Baker Street Irregulars' say at the talk page. No need to bother with the 'welding' yet...wait till we have 'wiki consensus' and see what they recommend. Pydos 13:54, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Your signature[edit]

Hmm... For once I can blame someone else... Celestianpower tried to add an esperanza "e" into my sig and changed the link from FireFox to Firefox in the attempt. Thanks for letting me know! FireFoxT • 17:05, 6 February 2006

Esperanza User Page Award[edit]

  • Interesting-ness: quirky, unique, captivating, or funny content
  • General niceness: at the judges' discretion

Please see the Scores section on this page for additional information on your job as a judge.

Keep in mind that your scores are a secret! Email KnowledgeOfSelf with your scores and final picks. Please contact him for information on how to email him. As soon as all the scores have been tallied, a winner will be announced! Thanks.
