Image copyright problem with Image:GoguConstantinescu.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:GoguConstantinescu.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sue Anne 07:15, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request for edit summary[edit]

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Commercial use of Image:IJSchoenberg.gif[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:IJSchoenberg.gif, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:IJSchoenberg.gif is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:IJSchoenberg.gif, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 22:44, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:IJSchoenberg.gif has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 11:49, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Image:GoguConstantinescu.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image with an unknown source or an unknown copyright status which has been tagged as such for more than 7 days, and it still lacks the necessary information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:GoguConstantinescu.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Martha Bidez, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.taskforce.org/staffbio.asp?ID=138. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Speedy deletion of Martha Bidez[edit]

A tag has been placed on Martha Bidez requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you.  Channel ®   23:11, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of "Transilvania University of Braşov"[edit]

A page you created, Transilvania University of Braşov, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it has no content, other than external links, categories, "see also" sections, rephrasing of the title, and/or chat-like comments.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:RuncuGJ01.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

File source problem with File:Gogu-Constantinescu.JPG[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Gogu-Constantinescu.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:42, 20 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 (talk) 02:42, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:GBenga.JPG has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[3][4]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because images on Wikipedia need to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License or another free license, which allow anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file, please understand that the vast majority of images found on the internet are not appropriate for Wikipedia. Most content on the internet is copyrighted and the creator of the image has exclusive rights to use it. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others - do not upload images that violate others' copyrights. In certain limited cases, we may be able to use an image under a claim of fair use - if you are certain that fair use would apply here, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list. If no fair use rationale applies, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. feydey (talk) 08:38, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:WardIsland.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:WardIsland.jpg.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 11:02, 1 November 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:02, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Gheorghe Caranda has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Wikipedia is not a memorial. "First Romanian to die in an aircraft accident" is not an establishment of notability. Fails WP:SOLDIER, WP:NPERSON.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. NiD.29 is stalking my contributions (like the article on Gheorghe Caranda) and flags them for deletions. It started with the article on Aurel Vlaicu and his reject of any reference that was not published in the West. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.175.228.172 (talk) 04:30, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have flagged 1 page for deletion (which I followed from an irrelevant link that had been added to a page I was editting), and only after asking for input from other members of the project. Someone else flagged your images (which lacked adequate copyright information) for deletion, however all you have to do is add the missing information and they get to stay. I have deleted text you added that was both inaccurate AND unsourced, which anyone is free to remove, but which you persisted in undoing (as well as undoing other editors efforts) so that you came close to being in violation of the 3 revert rule. None of which constitutes stalking.NiD.29 (talk) 20:11, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:George valentin bibescu.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Sockpuppet investigation[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Simiprof, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Cabayi (talk) 12:39, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A SPI case page is decidedly not the correct venue for an RfC. The subject matter is largely unrelated to the investigation, and the page is far too low in traffic to be useful for what your proposing. As such, I've removed it. Might I suggest the talk pages for the deletion policy or WP:AfD as alternatives. Sir Sputnik (talk) 20:40, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Again, the talk page, not the policy itself. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:12, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Please pay attention to what you're being told here, so that you're not blocked for disruptive editing. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 21:22, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I would also note that the proposal is now properly posted on a talk page, so there was no point in duplicating it. You may want to read this essay before creating an RFC in the future. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:25, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Your proposals ignore many of Wikipedia's basic precepts. Articles should be sourced by secondary verifiable secondary sources, not by your own papers. You'd benefit by going back to the welcome message at the top of this page and start by reading the five pillars of Wikipedia and the other guidance. Other policies you'd be well advised to review are WP:COI, WP:RS & WP:IS.
To your suggestion that "Voting in an article-deletion case should NOT be permitted to unregistered users"...
  • It's not a vote, WP:AFDDISCUSS,
  • It's not a "deletion case", it's a discussion - a decision to merge or redirect is just as possible as deletion,
  • As regards unregistered users, as you've discovered from the number of WP:AFDSOCKs you've recruited, they have no impact on the outcome other than getting your friends/colleagues blocked from Wikipedia.
Your other posts imply you should have been treated as an inexperienced user. With over 11 years on Wikipedia and a combined total of 1074 edits, well beyond the 4 days & 10 edits required for WP:Autoconfirmed and the 30 days & 500 edits required for WP:Extended confirmed, when do you think it should be assumed that you have acquired enough experience?
It is possible to easily see an editor's time on Wikipedia and their number of edits. However, given your stated view that AfD is a vote rather than a discussion (which is implicit in your recruitment of WP:AFDSOCKs), you obviously wish to use this information to disparage other editors. On that basis, and the hope that finding it for yourself may make you more involved in the community, I'll leave it to you to find it.
Your comments on User talk:Pasimi arguing that your intentions in running 2 accounts were honorable may be true, though I'd call it legitimate rather than honorable. However, once you started writing articles on your own projects sourced by your own papers and editing those articles with both accounts, removing PROD notices with the other account and commenting on the AfD discussion with the other account you left your good intentions in the dust. Picking apart the templates to split hairs about when you crossed the line doesn't serve any useful purpose.
May I also offer you a caution regarding Commons. Your edits there haven't crossed the line so far as I can see. But your edits here didn't either until you fell victim to hubris and carelessness.
Your latest contributions on Commons show you falling into the same careless disregard for the distinction and editing Pasimi's files with your Simiprof account. All it would take is a deletion nomination for one of those files and you'd likely be in the same mess there that you are here.
Ditch the Pasimi account totally. Change the password to a random string and lock yourself out to avoid temptation. Just because it's possible to use two accounts it doesn't mean it's wise.
An aside, you've responded to comments on your Pasimi talk page but none here. A very rhetorical, "Why?"
I hope you'll resume constructive editing on subjects other than your own research when you return next week. Cabayi (talk) 12:45, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request[edit]

Hi: regarding being unblocked: I am not going to lift the original block I placed on this account for meatpuppetry and recruiting individuals at an XfD. You clearly did that and were in violation of our policies and guidelines. In terms of the extension because of block evasion by an IP, I find it difficult to believe that after being blocked for WP:MEAT, you did not understand that other editors making edits to the exact pages you focused on from an unregistered account would look like block evasion at the worst, and WP:PROXYING at the best. Either way, to me, it looks like trying to get around the block that was placed on you. TonyBallioni (talk) 02:50, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • According to Wikipedia:Blocking policy "Blocks are meant to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, not to punish users. Blocks should not be used where there is no current conduct issue of concern." Regarding your "other editors making edits to the exact pages you focused on from an unregistered account" why don't you see for yourself what those edits were, and how they could have been disruptive?
  • I read two online articles about the shrinking editorial support of Wikipedia, apparently caused by the advent of mobile devices. In my opinion contributing factor to this decline is also the online disinhibition of users who know the rules better, and it is manifested in dismissive sarcasm and in bulling of less experienced contributors. It also appears that the response of Wikipedia to the shortage of editors is to propose for deletion every new article created. And because the deletion decision can be manipulated, and votes/comments from editors who have an interested in the subject of the new article are actually discouraged, this too has the effect of driving away existing contributors.
Regarding the deletion of MeKin2D, why the boxed note "If you came here because someone asked you to, or you read a message on another website..." was not part of the original "Creating deletion discussion page" - because it is not visible on this other delete discussion?! It would have spared me a lot of distress. Can't you simply believe that until 2 weeks ago I had no idea what puppeting and canvasing are? Signing edits with simiprof and pasimi by somebody who adds references to works by P.A. Simionescu is an disguise attempt to you?!

Please see below some additional suggestions you may want to consider implementing in the future.

(1) When a new account is created, there should be some advice given to the new user about displaying a civil behavior online. The possibility of manifesting displaced frustration against other users and [toxic] online disinhibition should be also mentioned.

(2) Existing users should be reminded periodically (e.g. every 6 months) about #1 above.

(3) Existing users who have not contributed in a while, should be invited to come back to editing.

(4) Existing users should be suggested periodically to invite others to become Wikipedia users.

(5) Every new article should start with a template (to include for example a placeholder for categories in which the article fits), and with a warning about what considerations will result in the deletion of the newly created article.

(6) Total number of edits should not be used as an indicator of the amount of contribution by one user, instead

(7) users should have their experience on 10-15 categories they contributed the most, retrievable with their profile (with the possibility of displaying it on their user page). Such information can be extracted by a bot program using the number of kilobytes of additions by the respective user.

(8) When an article is proposed for deletion, contributors experienced with the same category/categories (see #7 above) as the respective article, should be automatically emailed asking for their vote.

(9) If somebody right-mouse clinks to download a Wikipedia image, a reminder should popup about terms of use.

(10) Users could be warned (included on #1 above) if it is found they disclose too much personal information on their user page.

Thank you Simiprof (talk) 04:43, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • You are free to appeal this block using the instructions in the template above. Should you appeal, I would recommend concision. TonyBallioni (talk) 04:44, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

TonyBallioni, one of my IP addresses has been freed from your block. Can I post an unsigned comment on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/MeKin2D, or I will be again sanctioned? Simiprof (talk) 18:34, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No, that would be block evasion and per my warning to you above would result in an indefinite block. TonyBallioni (talk) 18:36, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Then how can I defend an article I started (with the argument that it is the reference for 70+ animated GIFs I posted on Wikipedia, which others have used or imitated w/o acknowledgement)? I am sorry but I think you overreacted to my use of two accounts (which was not in bad faith and with no deception intent as mentioned above), and particularly to the report of Cabayi of the edits from 79.116.35.59. Regarding the latter, I am asking you again to note that the edits from 79.116.35.59 were absolutely consequential i.e. the one to MeKin2D is of 0 bytes!

I am quoting again the rule: "Blocks are meant to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, not to punish users. Blocks should not be used where there is no current conduct issue of concern." Simiprof (talk) 18:54, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Considering disruption and meatpuppetry in that AfD is the reason for your original block, and that proxying and block evasion are also disruptive (the reason your block was extended), allowing you to comment as an IP on the AfD at the heart of your block would in fact be disruptive to Wikipedia, and was the reason you were blocked in the first place. As I stated above, if you block evade with an IP again (or recruit more editors as meatpuppets or WP:PROXY), your block will become indefinite. TonyBallioni (talk) 19:35, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

TonyBallioni: I was entering the text below as you were posting your 19:35 response. I know you don't like to read long text, but please follow my message to the end. Thank you!

Here's yet another oddity of Wikipedia Rules. The last entry of Sockpuppet_investigations/Simiprof reads Accused parties may also comment/discuss in this section below. As a blocked user however, I am not allowed to place comments to defend myself. Has Wikipedia turned into a dictatorship lacking any sense of justice, refusing any feedback, and ready to send genuine contributors to the knacker in the name of some questionable rules?

I am going to contact the Senate Committee to investigate if it is proper for Wikipedia raise millions in donations in the name of anonymous contributors like myself, obstructed and denied minimum recognition of their contributions - see MeKin2D, Talk:MeKin2D and Articles for deletion/MeKin2D.

In addition I would like to add that the user who manipulated you to extend my block because of the 79.116.35.59 should seek counseling. His extended contributions/creation of articles on a brewery, mental hospital and orphanage are indicative of his unhappy, low achieving existence, and is now venting is his frustration on Wikipedia - please see his Commons uploads which link to the above articles.
