Consistent mutilation of Bidhu Bhusan Das's wikipages by Odialegend

Hi!

I've been asked by one of Wikis owners to connect with you regarding the consistent and somewhat perverse tampering with the Bidhu Bhusan Das page. This is unfortunate and uncalled for.

Odialegend seems to have created an account with the sole purpose of messing around with the wikipages of two of India's respected and beloved teachers.

This person is avowedly of Odia origin (and a legend! Wow!) - and, if I might give you an insight into the Odia character, Odias delight in trashing their own, pretending they don't exist, or mutilating the achievements - and wikipages - of fellow Odias. They carry this dubious distinction across India, although there are a few notable exceptions.

This person alludes to Professor Bidhu Bhusan Das as "Sir", and, time and again, s/he deletes the names of the roster of absolute titans that Das studied with. If you studied with Niels Bohr, Robert Oppenheimer and Einstein, why would you delete the latter two? A distinguished professor at Yale almost swooned with delight when she read this roster of names of Das's teachers. Most crucial it is to know these names. These are biographical details which are most pertinent. What is achieved by deleting them? It seems as if Odialegend wants to wish them away! Odialegend mistakenly states that the only professor they were sure of that Das studied with is JRR Tolkien! Really? When? How? Professor Das's vita, together with the names of all his revered teachers mentioned on the page, is available in the following publication:

Mohanty, Gopinath. Amrutara Santana: The Dynasty of The Immortals. Translated by Bidhu Bhusan Das, Prabhat Nalini Das and Oopali Operajita. New Delhi: Sahitya Akademi, 2016. ISBN 978-81-260-4746-8

The central Sahitya Akademi is India's national academy of letters.

Odialegend is yet again on pretty thin territory because s/he obviously does not know that Das's thesis supervisor at Christ Church, Oxford, was LH Myers, whose name they have seen fit to delete from a list of Das's teachers! Nice!

S/he is in obviously uncharted territory when they allude to the writing of statutes as a "clerical" job. A writing of statutes is pivotal to the establishment of a new university, and it is only an experienced professor AND administrator who can do this and is vested with the all-important mandate to do so. It is a blueprint for the university forever, in much the same manner as the constitution is to a nation. To be entrusted with the writing of statutes is an acknowledgement of someone's expertise in both fields. So, far from damning someone, it acknowledges their unique and respected ability in this domain. Without the all-important statutes, there would be no university!

Equally ludicrous and incomprehensible is Odialegend's deleting the entire paragraph on Bidhu Bhusan Das's children in the family section. S/he states that the page is about Das and not his children?! How weird is that? If family isn't comprised of children, then what is it comprised of? Odialiegend as family? This is where it begins to get seriously weird.

If Professor Bidhu Bhusan Das was known to Odialegend, isn't it a conflict of interest for him/her to be commenting on his teacher/boss? I did not know him personally, but know and have interacted with many of his distinguished students across the world. I also did not know Professor Prabhat Nalini Das personally, but have met, and continue to meet with, many of her students. Her detailed vita is available in the above volume too.

Odialegend's sole raison d'etre on Wikipedia seems to be to mutilate, annihilate and dismember the Bidhu Bhusan Das Wikipedia page. Kind of noble! That is exactly what somebody called Subhasis Panigrahi did a few months ago. I will say to them: Get a life!

Thank you for your time. Rekha2019 (talk) 15:20, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

@Rekha2019: sorry I didn't see this until now, but you wrote on a sub-talkpage of mine and I didn't get a ping. Unfortunately, what you discuss is not my area of expertise. Hopefully, you've connected with other editors who may be of assistance. By the way, your writing tone gives the impression that you are very agitated. Certainly, that's difficult. Perhaps taking some time away from Wikipedia would be calming. In any case, I wish you well. --Rosiestep (talk) 18:16, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
Hi @Rekha2019:, I have no idea why you're tying me to something that I don't know of. I have no memory of vandalizing any article. Please provide evidences if you're claiming. --Psubhashish (talk) 19:29, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

Hola

Hola, que tal? Disfrutaste tu viaje a Suecia?

@Dr. Blofeld: Stockholm was awesome! I'm on family vacation now and will be home by tonight. This week, I think I'll start here (Category:Towns in Spain) poking around for some articles which need a bit more Spanish-language translation and will add them here (feel free to add, too). --Rosiestep (talk) 13:45, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
Guay! Si, hay muchos municipios que necesitan un desarrollo basico. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:48, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

I destubbed Alajuela (canton). Mentions an aviary and butterfly farm here, I've already used that source. Wait until you're back and settled though if interested. :-) The musuem and coffee estate Doka Estate look interesting.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:41, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

Improved in one way or another (tidy, add photo, add translated content): Abejar; Adradas; Alconaba; Alcubilla de Avellaneda; Alcubilla de las Peñas; Aldealafuente; Aldealices; Aldealpozo; Aldealseñor; Aldehuela de Periáñez; Alentisque; Aliud. I'll continue working on the stubs in {{Municipalities in Soria}} tomorrow. --Rosiestep (talk) 16:58, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
Almajano. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:07, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Gracias. I just translated this into Spanish from the article I wrote on here the other day! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:39, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

@Dr. Blofeld: I'm impressed. I haven't translated any article into another language Wikipedia. Bravo! --Rosiestep (talk) 19:50, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Thanks. If you can, try to source what you translate. A little flesh on the bone like Adradas with a new infobox and fully sourced makes a big difference. I think it's better long term rather than trying to chase up information you can't verify. Where possible I think it's best to look externally and only use their articles for guidance.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:05, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

This is an A-Z index of places for the Province and seems like a decent source for just adding a little bit of info.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:36, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

As I'm over-committed with other things, and don't have a lot of time for this project, I've kept it low key, e.g. adding photos, cleaning up ref templates, adding a little bit of content. But I realize the importance, I know that every little bit helps, and I like working with you, so I'm committed to doing a little bit most every day. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:19, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Almaluez, Almarza, Almazul, Almenar de Soria. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:55, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

A few times a week I think is enough for me haha! Yeah adding a photo and one sourced sentence etc makes an immediate difference. I started creating some better looking locator maps for these yesterday, Alcubilla de Avellaneda looks so much better now. The infoboxes all need replacing and adding maps, I'll try to sort that out gradually.♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:04, 31 August 2019 (UTC)

Yes if you can go through and add photos I'll go through and gradually add new, consistent infoboxes at least, let's see if we can get one province consistent at least. Might look on Spanish wiki for the photos though, Aldealseñor had a prettier one!♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:17, 31 August 2019 (UTC)

I'll go through and add photos to all of the Soria towns over the long weekend (Monday is a bank holiday for us). Consistent infoboxes would be great. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:57, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
@Dr. Blofeld: I'm focusing on these towns of Soria this morning. I decided to go back through the list from the beginning, checking in Commons for flag and coat of arms images I may have ignored. In so doing, I came across a photo of 3 cats in Aldealices. I couldn't resist cropping it and adding it to the top of my talkpage. Made my day. --Rosiestep (talk) 16:17, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

Cool. I'll try to add a few infoboxes and new maps a couple of times a week. Might take a while but why not! I added a new DYK feature to the top of my talk page BTW!♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:35, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

@Dr. Blofeld: I looked at all of those DYKs; wow. So happy you are writing again. You do amazing work. I really mean it. I got through Alpanseque, Arancón, Arenillas, Arévalo de la Sierra, Ausejo de la Sierra, Baraona, Barca, Barcones, Bayubas de Abajo, Bayubas de Arriba, Beratón, Berlanga de Duero; enough for today. --Rosiestep (talk) 16:52, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi, it's me again. I've been trying to find sources to expand the information about her Irish activism, and I haven't had much luck. I asked BrownHairedGirl earlier and other editors, but part of the reason it's complicated to find this information is the secrecy of the occupation itself. I'm still determined to keep trying to look for it, though. Since you've written so many biographies about women from around the same era, I was wondering if you might be able to help. Clovermoss (talk) 23:50, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Wish I could help!
But congrats per persevering. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 00:07, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Hi @Clovermoss and BrownHairedGirl: I added a bit more, which I found via Newspapers.com. Feel free to edit and or remove any of it. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:03, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the addition! I'm glad that you found a way to improve the article. I'm guessing that there isn't anything in those newspapers about the Irish activism... although maybe there is if I look under her pseudonym. I notice that the newspaper source is publically accessible, so maybe I'll have luck searching there? Clovermoss (talk) 01:10, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
@Clovermoss: Nope, the newspapers didn't mention Irish activism. But I did add a few more of her works (on the topic of Ireland) into the Selected works section. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:32, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Thanks! And... If you look below, you'll find a wikikitten. Maybe I'll find what I'm looking for eventually... Or maybe someone else will. Anyways, Katherine's pretty interesting, don't you think? When I started learning more about her, she seemed exactly like the type of person Wikipedia should have an article on. Clovermoss (talk) 01:41, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
@Clovermoss: newspapers.com has tons and tons of information about her. Irish activism;[1],[2];[3] Books written;[4],[5], London;[6]; obituary;[7] adventurer.[8] Hope these help. Newspapers for women before the 1970s are your best source for information. If you ever need me to search, just give me a ping. SusunW (talk) 04:56, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

Thank you very much, Clovermoss! I'm a big time cat lover -- have shared a home with a cat almost my entire life. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:38, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

I've been putting together an article on Emna Mizouni, the 2019 Wikimedian of the Year. As you must have met her in Stockholm, you might have something to add to the article. Maybe you could also help to publicize it more widely, e.g. through DYK, GLAM or Signpost.--Ipigott (talk) 12:09, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi Ipigott. Thanks for creating this article. Emna is a very close friend of mine; we are joined at the hip. I've known her for many years, and we joined AffCom at the same time. To avoid a potential COI, I will avoid editing her article and that of the other WOTYs. The other WOTYs and I have been involved in promoting Emna's award all over social media and other media. I'm positive Emna's honor will be covered by the Signpost... doubt they'd drop the ball on this. As for DYK, the article seems to me to meet requirements, but as you may know, I have stayed away from DYK for years, so I'm not the best person to ask to nominate it. That said, you can expect me to keep cheering Emna on. She is amazing and I look forward to seeing everything she accomplishes this year. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:07, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
I was pretty certain you knew her, Rosie, as she's been involved in many of the Wikimedia activities you have supported too. Despite coverage on the social media, she has not received the coverage she deserves in the world press. Perhaps after Signpost comes out in a day or two that will trigger more interest. I dropped out of DYK too for various reasons but it would be great if someone else could take it on.--Ipigott (talk) 17:44, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
@Ipigott: In case you haven't seen these, I thought they might interest you: medium.com, kapitalis.com. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:53, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for these. Things are starting to move in the right direction. By the way, she told me she only accents her name (Émna) in the social media. Otherwise she prefers Emna.--Ipigott (talk) 06:30, 31 August 2019 (UTC)

I think that she could be notable enough for her own article. From the little I know about her from Jules Abadie#Private life section, she became a medical doctor in 1905! What do you think? Clovermoss (talk) 16:36, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

@Clovermoss: maybe. I found this (in French), and this mention in a book, plus she wrote this. There may be other references in Arabic and/or French as she lived in Algeria. What have you found? --Rosiestep (talk) 17:04, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
There's this [9] from World Cat Identities. I think it's possible that she might be mentioned more books/offline sources as well. My library might have something. Clovermoss (talk) 17:15, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
If the information in her husband's article is correct, she was born in Russia, so there might be sources about her in Russian as well. Clovermoss (talk) 17:17, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
@Clovermoss: yes, indeed, there might be sources in Russian. The book on the Worldcat page is the same book as I linked to above. Perhaps my pagestalkers can find additional sourcing? --Rosiestep (talk) 17:31, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
I'll look for some other sources as well to see if I can find anything else. Also... I noticed that there is a message on a talk page of one of your user subpages. I thought I should let you know. Clovermoss (talk) 17:36, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
@Clovermoss: which subpage? Thx --Rosiestep (talk) 17:41, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

Updating problem

Do you know of anyone who could fix a problem with Wikipedia:WikiProject_Women_in_Red/About_us. I can no longer edit the Research section. I have alerted Isarra but she does not seem to be active at the moment.--Ipigott (talk) 09:20, 12 September 2019 (UTC)

Hallo Rosie, Don't forget that when you create a dab page like Porsanger (disambiguation) it needs a link from the basename article Porsanger so that folk can find it. I've fixed this. The dab page also needed a bit of tweaking - where there is a primary topic, that goes first with the other meanings below it. Thanks. (I'm working my way through the output of WIR-129, adding women to surname lists or creating redirects or hatnotes or dab page entries for their surnames. Out of about 50 I've looked at, only about 8 were already linked from their surnames. We need to get better at this!) PamD 10:25, 18 September 2019 (UTC)

SD card killer?

This story just came to my attention today. A man from Anchorage, Alaska - originally from South Africa - was arrested after a woman walking through town found an SD card and looked at its contents. It showed the brutal murder of a woman. The suspect has been arrested after local police identified him from one of the videos. I strongly suspect that this man is a serial killer, and police will link him to other murders. This story is beginning to make national news. Here is the NYT link: (The New York Times) I'm not sure where this could be included on Wikipedia as an article. Too soon to tell... But I did add it to the Current Events page. Anyway, I thought you might want to follow the story. Juneau Mike (talk) 23:49, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

Wikidatacon presentation: "Women Writers in Review"

19 May 19, Boston, LD4 conference
19 Aug 19, Stockholm, Wikimania
19 Oct 19, Berlin, Wikidatacon
10 Nov 19, Boston, WikiConference North America

Some people might be interested in this. --Rosiestep (talk) 20:44, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

Beautifully presented slides. "Trans-Atlantic writing" is a new concept for me. I have not been able to find any clear definition of what it means. I would have thought it covered writers who had crossed the Altlantic but those you mention appear to have remained in their own countries: Maria Edgeworth, Mary Robinson, Lucy Aikin, Anna Barbauld and Anne Bannerman in Great Britain; Hannah Adams in America. I have nevertheless come across a work titled Transatlantic Romanticism: An Anthology of British, American, and Canadian Literature. So perhaps it just means from English-speaking countries on either side of the Atlantic? On the other hand, Transatlantic Translations appears to refer to Latin-America. It becomes even more confusing if you search for "Transatlantic literature". See also Journal of Transatlantic Studies. Maybe someone should write an article on Transatlantic writing.--Ipigott (talk) 12:03, 2 November 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for reviewing it, ipigott. Trans-Atlantic refers to Europe (mostly UK but there are a few French women) and US/Canada; and excludes Australia/NZ. Sorry for brevity; I'm on a mobile phone. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:24, 3 November 2019 (UTC)
It looks as if you are making the same presentation at the WikiConference in Boston on Sunday. Hope it goes well.--Ipigott (talk) 15:09, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, Ipigott. Actually, WikiConference North America will be my 4th presentation on "Women Writers in Review", with each new presentation being an update on progress. In case these are of interest, I've added links to all the slidedecks. --Rosiestep (talk) 16:54, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
I see quite a few of the presentations in Boston are highlighted "Bias". Make sure the gender bias is fully appreciated by the North American contributors. English speakers are not doing too well but the French Canadians and Mexicans should be given credit for their language versions. See the WiR talk page.--Ipigott (talk) 17:35, 5 November 2019 (UTC)

Thanks

kia ora Rosie

Have finally fixed the Hens' Teeth lede as prompted. Sorry it took so long. Also revised structure of page to be more in line, I hope, with preferred Wikipedia layout of info. Could not find a citation about Kate JasonSmith's award, apart from the quotation, although since I now know what it was for I'll be keeping an eye out for a published reference. Have been sidelined by other women deserving pages, so haven't gone looking for material on Kate's mother-the-war-hero.

However, I did manage to set up a page for another Kiwi war hero of the female persuasion--Pamela Pigeon. (I kid you not.) So I have obviously made a little progress in maneuvering through Wikipedia protocol.

Thanks again for your help. Tarkiwi25 (talk) 04:38, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Thanks, Tarkiwi25, and good job! --Rosiestep (talk) 22:44, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Hello!

The Wikimedia Foundation is seeking to improve the community consultation outreach process for Foundation policies, and we are interested in why you didn't participate in a recent consultation that followed a community discussion you’ve been part of.

Please fill out this short survey to help us improve our community consultation process for the future. It should only take about three minutes.

Hello,

I submitted a page for Mayor Eric P. Feichthaler. Can you let me know when it is live on Wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Capecoraler (talkcontribs) 23:04, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Hello Capecoraler and nice to meet you. I see you created this: Draft:Eric P. Feichthaler. That's the page you should keep an eye on regarding the article in question vs. requesting that I do so as I'm pretty busy with other wiki responsibilities (online; offline) and IRL. Also, I avoid working on BLPs in general; men's BLPs in particular. You'll want to keep up with discussions on that draft page, and follow any instructions/suggestions that the reviewer(s) make. Happy editing! --Rosiestep (talk) 23:20, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Women Do News edit-a-thon

Hi, Rosie. I'm a co-organizer of the Women Do News edit-a-thon, which is focused on adding notable women journalists to Wikipedia. I'm in search of a couple experienced Wikipedia editors to give us a hand at our f2f event on Nov. 16 in Manhattan, and wondered if you might know of one or two folks in NYC I could reach out to. Thanks much in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ejgertz (talkcontribs) 21:36, 14 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Ejgertz. What a super idea! Pharos, an officer of the board of WMNYC, is well-suited to answer your question about who you might reach out to in NYC. Sending you loads of good wishes for your event, and, if you think about it, please do give me a link to the event so I can follow your progress. --Rosiestep (talk) 21:50, 14 November 2019 (UTC)
Rosiestep: The link is Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Women_Do_News_Edit-a-thon_@_Luminary_in_NYC. See also my announcement on the WiR main page. I suggested Pharos too whom they've contacted on his talk page. Thanks for responding so quickly. I offered to help them remotely but may have difficulty because of the time difference with NYC - but let's see how it goes.--Ipigott (talk) 09:37, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
Rosiestep: Thanks for the good wishes. If we organize another meetup in the future, we now know to reach out a lot sooner to other local editors, and really appreciate Ipigott's help tomorrow.--Ejgertz (talk) 01:31, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
Ejgertz, I see that Jim.henderson has signed up; as he is a veteran editor, things should go just fine. I've signed up as well, as a remote participant, and, time permitting, will write some articles in the next few days. But yes, to your point, more notice is better as WMNYC, Women in Red, and other large f2f and/or online communities coordinate our calendars weeks in advance. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:08, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
Sure; our new event operator Ejgertz got something wrong. Not to worry; setting up an editathon is a complicated business and Wikipedians seldom get anything right the first time and not often the second. For tomorrow, I committed last weekend to meet someone at Metropolitan Museum, so the overlapping events mean I'll leave early from 30th Street and arrive late at 81st Street. Knowing we have competent lecturers at The Met, I can miss the opening hour there. If the earlier event needs a lecturer, I can give it a go even though I wasn't very good on a previous try. Seldom get anything right the first time, y'know. Jim.henderson (talk) 05:14, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, Jim.henderson. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:02, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
I'm glad to see the event produced a handful of new articles. Next time round, we need to organize everything much earlier and far more systematically. As far as I can see there are at least half a dozen more biographies waiting to be transferred to Wikipedia. Ejgertz: Any idea how we can access these and work with those who compiled them over the next few days or weeks?--Ipigott (talk) 14:06, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
I hope nobody minds; I'm going to copy the last post to Wikipedia talk:Meetup/NYC/Women Do News Edit-a-thon @ Luminary in NYC and answer there. It seems more appropriate than the personal talk page of someone busy and far away. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jim.henderson (talkcontribs) November 18, 2019 (UTC)
That makes sense, so I responded there regarding Twitter. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:47, 18 November 2019 (UTC)

Having a bit of fun

Hi, Rosie - didn't get a chance to say goodbye in Cambridge, and don't want to miss an opportunity to properly thank you for the incredible work you do/did for WikiConferenceNA. THANK YOU!!! I also wanted to make you aware of a fun little video summary I threw together. I also uploaded it to the WC site. Enjoy! Atsme Talk 📧 14:55, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Atsme, I am so glad you enjoyed the conference. As for the video, well, just, wow!! It's awesome. I had no idea you do stuff like this. Would you please provide a link to the WC page where you uploaded the video, as I can't find it. Thanks. --Rosiestep (talk) 19:57, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for the kind words! It was just a quickie but sorta inline with my former career. Silly me - what I actually did was upload it to Commons, and added the categories: WikiConference North America 2019 at Museum of Fine Arts and Category:WikiConference North America 2019. Feel free to utilize it however you see fit. Atsme Talk 📧 20:18, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
Atsme really did attend WCNA2019. Photoshopped attendance, 4th row, far right 😊
Atsme, you have done some amazing things! Obvs, I had no idea. I'm checking with the coreteam as to where to add the link. --Rosiestep (talk) 21:53, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
Great video Atsme. Makes me feel I also joined in the fun. Look forward to more along the same lines.--Ipigott (talk) 08:51, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
I am flattered - feels good, too. 😂 One last note, and I'll leave you in peace, Ms Rosie - I completely forgot about the group picture...it was one of the reasons I flew all the way to Boston (not)...so with a little PS magic, I am now in the photograph, and added it to my UP. B) Atsme Talk 📧 20:29, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
You continue to impress me with your skills, Atsme. Way to go! --Rosiestep (talk) 21:17, 21 November 2019 (UTC)

Did you get my email Rosie? I don't know how you stay so motivated here! .♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:48, 4 December 2019 (UTC)
Dr. Blofeld, I got two different emails from you, both with big orange banners saying not to respond to them if the sender did not contact me in a usual way as the emails could be hoaxes. I'm motivated because I believe the work we do here is important, plus, I enjoy doing it. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:53, 4 December 2019 (UTC)
That's so bizarre. I was having trouble with my old account. Obviously not a hoax email. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:57, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Gap in our coverage

Some time ago, Rosie, I noticed that despite all the years we have been working on women writers and their works, the only real overviews we have at the moment are Women writers, which consists mainly of links to other articles, and Women's writing (literary category) in connection with literature studies. Compared to the general coverage of History of literature, which includes many detailed articles by period, our coverage of women's contribution to literature is pretty sketchy for anyone wishing to look into the matter. Given your recent work on transatlantic literature and your involvement with students, I was wondering whether you would be interested in extending existing articles and perhaps writing new ones on topics such as History of women in literature or History of women in Western literature. Maybe if you were to make a start, Megalibrarygirl, SusunW and I could help you along. We could also invite contributions from Women in Red and WikiProject Women writers. There's absolutely no rush to do this but perhaps you could fit something in to your tight schedule over the coming months. In any case, I would be interested to hear whether you agree that this is a gap we need to fill.--Ipigott (talk) 08:22, 9 December 2019 (UTC)

@Ipigott: it's just one of many gaps to fill. I thin there's also a big gap for women in music articles, too. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:24, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
Megalibrarygirl: Women in music looks pretty good to me but we could perhaps work on improving Women in classical music.--Ipigott (talk) 09:29, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
@Ipigott:, women in more specific forms of music, such as Jazz, Blues, Classical, etc could use articles. If you started one, I'd be able to help. Also, an article on African American women in Classical music (or maybe just African Americans in Classical music in general) would be a very good article to work on. There's really a lot of activity there that's very much underrepresented. :/ Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:31, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
I think it might be good to start with a list: something like List of black women in Classical music maybe? I'm not sure how to phrase it. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:36, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
Sorry Ipigott, I am hip deep at present with real life commitments, though I must say that it has crossed my mind that we haven't done a real topic-based collaborative article in a while. Maybe after the first of the year I could find time to work on this? SusunW (talk) 17:25, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
@Ipigott, Megalibrarygirl, and SusunW: indeed, Wikipedia is sorely lacking in overview articles related to women in various fields, and writing in particular. Thank you kindly for suggesting it, Ian, but I don't see myself as the best writer to draft such an overview article. However, this might be an excellent fit for one or more women's lit classes, so I'm adding Jami (Wiki Ed), Educational Partnerships Director at the Wiki Education Foundation, to the conversation as she may be aware of an upcoming class in 2020 who would be suited for the challenge. That said, if SusunW is interested in getting a start on it, that would indeed work, too. In any case, I'd be glad to contribute to this next year. --Rosiestep (talk) 19:14, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
These are interesting suggestions that certainly deserve an article. I'll flag it to Helaine, in case she knows of any spring 2020 lit courses where this would be a good fit. Additionally, if we run any literature-focused Wiki Scholars courses before these are articles, I think this would be a really great overview for an expert to get their hands on. Thanks for pinging me, Rosie. Jami (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:35, 9 December 2019 (UTC)

Peace Dove

Peace is a state of balance and understanding in yourself and between others, where respect is gained by the acceptance of differences, tolerance persists, conflicts are resolved through dialog, peoples rights are respected and their voices are heard, and everyone is at their highest point of serenity without social tension. Happy Holidays to you and yours. ―Buster7  17:07, 12 December 2019 (UTC)

Phil Bridger - totally a misclick. Don't recall being on that page; I have no interest in it. Sorry for any inconvenience. --Rosiestep (talk) 23:09, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
