Thank you for the advice. :) Rong Qiqi is not famous for meeting Confucius per se, he is famous for a fable surrounding him that is a philisophical allegory for a hedonistic, ascetic-like way of life. I apologise, this wasn't made clear in the DYK nomination, but I thought the meeting-Confucius-thing would be a more appealing hook! And as for List of Chinese military texts, could you suggest which parts specifically need to be wikified? Which part of the lead? Nine Provinces (China)

Dear Philg88, I have added Chinese nomenclature in the [1] because the terms do not have an established content, they started as vague concepts [2] without geographical delineation, and it took a millenia to become the provinces [[3] that are associated with specific historical events. Since the pinyin phonetization differs from other phonetizations in the literature and translations, it is difficult to catch location of the historical events without their Chinese coding. The indication of the Chinese form is not intended to make English–Chinese bilingual edition, but help to bridge the vagueness of the archaic terms with their use in the Classical events. Thanks Barefact, I actually prefer to have simp/trad Chinese characters in cases like these (but without pinyin) - maybe we need to clarify WP:MOS-ZH? in respect of ancient Chinese history. Feel free to add back to the article as you please. Best, Philg88 (talk) 11:22, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Charlie Soong - Hakka background

Hi PhilG八十八. An IP has recently changed Soong's background to Cantonese which I reverted. It may become a problem as Hugi works towards WP:GA status for the article. (As I'm sure you are aware, ethnic background issues can most unfortunately turn an encyclopaedia into a battleground.) Could it possibly be referenced to save future bother? Phew! I even had drafted an apology for my presumptuousness in (a) addressing you half in 漢字, and (b) poking my nose into an article I knew nothing about. Thanks for your reply, and for the addition of the ref. An Englishman in China, and an Australian who claims to be a monoglot (but appears to be able to translate an article in a language he's never studied) are discussing an article that someone whose native language is Icelandic is trying to make a Good Article. Wikifying Chinese

Hello. For purposes of avoiding over-linking, I recommend that for all instances of the template except the first, you use the "links=no" parameter of the ZH-template. Thanks for the recommendation, but Wikipedia doesn't work like that unless I misread the style guides. If you care to examine my edit history you will see that I carefully avoid overusing the ZH template. As for suggesting that "to avoid clutter" we should disregard traditional Chinese then you are being disingenuous to our readers from Taiwan and Singapore to say the least. No, I meant to say that it is preferable not to use the ZH-template in prose when simplified and traditional are different. and Singapore uses simplified. you should know that. A simple (simp/trad) format would be best.

And now that this little discussion is placed, I have withdrawn my fears that those not so familiar with Chinese would misunderstand the simp/trad format and have resolved to adhere to it. Actually, Singapore's usage of Chinese characters isn't that straightforward but that's not the point. I agree that the ZH template should not be used in prose - only in leads and other places. Other occurences are best done by putting the Hanzi in brackets. I use simp/trad ordering for no other reason than that there are more users of the former. Hi, I don't know the context so I'm guessing a bit:

南明君主及追尊皇帝 This refers to the revered emperors of the Southern Ming Dynasty. You can see a list on Chinese Wikipedia here or the English version here.

福王政权 refers to the regime of somebody called King Fu (福王), Fu is a common surname and I have no idea who he was.

明朝藩王列表 (熙祖系) This is another list of Ming Emperors - see my first comment above.
