Collaborations of the week[edit]

Collabs. of the week are not about "articles with the best content" as you called it. The purpose of collaborations of the week is to focus the project's energy on improving and expanding an article. Metros (talk) 22:43, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Wikiproject[edit]

I'm not sure. There is several information missing in that Wikiproject, that is available in WP:BOSOX and WP:CELTICS. - Milk's favorite Cookie 23:12, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would also recommend if you do create a Wikiproject, you contribute to it. For example, Jj137 made WP:BOSOX, and as of now he is one of the top contributors to that Wikiproject. Same as when I made WP:CELTICS, I continue to put my best effort in contributing in the project. But you have rarely contributed much to any Long Island Wikiproject articles at all yet. And the choice to make WP:NHL, the question is: Will you contribute to the Wikiproject? Remember that:

What's the point of a Wikiproject if the creator himself doesn't contribute? If you are to make a Wikiproject, make one that interests you. Same as joining; join a Wikiproject that you will help, contribute to, and most of all - you have interest in that topic. The Red Sox are Jj137's favorite baseball team (as with me), and the Celtics are my favorite Basketball team. This is the reason I'm part of these wikiprojects. You just don't ask someone to join a Wikiproject for the heck of it. Please take this into consideration. Thanks. - Milk's favorite Cookie 00:58, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the wait. I was reading over this and the WP:LINY. It looks great! Who created it, you?--RyRy5 Talk to RyRy 01:01, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good Job! I can't join that project though, I'm not really interested in hockey.--RyRy5 Talk to RyRy 01:07, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow I've been helping out at the help desk for a while. And yes, I will see what I can do.--RyRy5 Talk to RyRy 01:11, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vague curiosity[edit]

Just out of curiosity, when is the last edit you've done to a hockey-related article? I see you're adding the taskforce, but I don't see any edits to hockey-related articles out of you. Take the advice of others and focus on improving the articles that these Wikiprojects cover. Metros (talk) 01:12, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is totally out of hand and inappropriate now. I looked through your edits and cannot find a single instance of you editing a hockey related article. And now you've created a task force and have created a newsletter that has no news except for the fact that the task force was founded. Do you get it? Do you understand what we've been telling you? Wikiprojects and task forces are for improving articles, not for creating newsletters. Metros (talk) 00:56, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Review[edit]

I see you changed to a new status signal. It looks better than the last one. Do you think the article Coldplay should be nominated for GA status. I am planning to nominate in in a while. Voice your opinion on that article's talkpage.--RyRy5 Got something to say? 16:10, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I like my status the way it is. So, do you need help with anything such as WP:LINY, ect?--RyRy5 Got something to say? 16:15, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll see what I can do.--RyRy5 Got something to say? 16:20, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. And is it ok if I nominate Brooklyn to GA status. I would like to help out the project as much as I can. BTW, I will be offline for a few minutes.--RyRy5 Got something to say? 16:40, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just help me fix any typos on that page, then I will nom it.--RyRy5 Got something to say? 16:42, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just created an article that wasn't created in the article, Brooklyn. I have to improve the article by turning red links into blue links. I am still making sure that Brooklyn is ready to nominate to GA status.--RyRy5 Got something to say? 18:23, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

3000th Edit Party to Milk's Favorite Cookie, and of course RyRy5[edit]

Happy Nothing444's 3000th Edit! This edit is my 3000th edit! Every time I reach another 1000 edits, I celebrate it on a talkpage of someone I know. Well, today is your lucky day because I choose your talkpage to host my Every 1000th Party! You know, I couldn't decide which one, so I'm giving this to both Milk's Favorite Cookie, and RyRy5. Thanks, Nothing444 18:24, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. But why is it on your talkpage?--RyRy5 Got something to say? 18:26, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

I have blocked you for 72 hours, please see block log for reasons. You seem to be hopelessly unable to contribute to the encyclopedia, even though you're trying. I've deleted all pages you've created in the subpages of WP:HOCKEY; they're simply not needed and they become a tad disruptive. They wouldn't have survived MfD anyhow so I didn't see the need to look up the instructions on how to MfD a page as it's a waste of my time. On the reconsidering your involvement here... you don't contribute to our articles. We're an encyclopedia, not your MySpace or similar thing. I feel lucky that I checked Special:Prefixindex/Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/ today, and I found this. Please take Metros' comments to hard. He doesn't state bluntly as I do, though. When the block does expire, I hope you aren't disruptive. Try to edit articles just a little more; if it doesn't work out, you're here at Wikipedia for the wrong reasons. Please realise that if that's what happens, and stop wasting our time. Good luck, Maxim(talk) 01:24, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I closed Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/NothingBot (2nd request) as request denied. Maxim(talk) 01:36, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unblocked[edit]

I've unblocked you, again. Your enthusiasm is a good thing, but please try to focus. Your name has been coming up way too often in administrative circles as an example of an editor who does lots of "stuff", but accomplishes very little. I suggest you keep your nose clean and your head low, and focus your edits in the main article space. – ClockworkSoul 07:57, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Admin coaching request status[edit]

You have expressed interest in undergoing the Admin coaching program. However, after reviewing your edit history, I feel you may need more time to develop an understanding of how the community works. on Wikipedia before you can know for certain your ready to begin the process of becoming an administrator. Therefore, at this time, your application for Admin Coaching has been declined.

My suggestion would be to seek adoption from a more experienced user who can help you experience all of the various components of editing an encyclopedia. If you decide adoption is not for you, there is also the editor review process that may help you find areas to improve upon in our editing. If you would like to talk more about this, please feel free to leave me a note at my talk page. MBisanz talk 08:03, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RFA Thanks[edit]

Thank you for your comments on my RFA. Even though it failed with 28 supports, 42 opposes, and 15 neutrals, I am grateful for the suggestions and advice I have received and I do hope to improve as a Wikipedian. If you ever need my help in any endeavor, feel free to drop me a line. --Sharkface217 19:38, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mainspace Edits[edit]

Well, I agree that you should consider adoption (again) and edit in the mainspace (alot) more. I have 1050+ mainspace out of my 5800 edits. So, who will you ask to adopt you?--RyRy5 Got something to say? 19:51, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Original Barnstar
For finally reaching your 500th mainspace edit, I User:RyRy5, award you this barnstar. Keep it up! RyRy5 Got something to say? 23:50, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, will you try to become an adoptee? BTW, I have 1050 mainspace edits.--RyRy5 Got something to say? 23:50, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK (I kinda wantd to adopt you though... still). Well, do you have an account at the test wiki?--*RyRy5 (talk) 00:04, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a sysop there. Your one too I think. I'm making a userbox of the test wiki now too.--RyRy5 Got something to say? 00:19, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

I've blocked you for 72 hours again. You were unblocked by ClockworkSoul in the hope you would keep your nose down and edit the mainspace, so what do you do. This sort of behaviour is insulting to the administrator who has unblocked you twice now, completely off their own back. They could have chosen to ignore you and leave you blocked for the duration of your block but didn't, and how do you repay their trust - by playing in the template space again and again, damaging a highly used template that is transcluded onto hundreds of pages in the process.

I have also installed a namespace restriction utility in your monobook file that will remind you when you are editing outwith the mainspace. If you remove the script anytime within the next three months, you will be indefinitely blocked. When your block expires, please, please consider whether Wikipedia is the right place for you, and if it is, please help write content first and foremost. Nick (talk) 11:52, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've gotten some grief – and disappointment – from sticking my neck out for you twice now. I'm afraid I can't act as your guardian angel anymore, as it's starting to reflect very badly on me now. – ClockworkSoul 15:50, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unblockage[edit]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Nothing444 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I view this as totally unfair. I have been editing in the mainspace, (if you count stub categorization). I believe that I am a valuable ever. I respect Nick's ideas, and I will do mainspace-only edits form now on if I am unblocked.

Decline reason:

72 hour block for immediately violating terms of the previous unblock is fair. Unblock request declined. — MBisanz talk 20:31, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I would support your unblockage if you do contribute a lot more to the mainspace. Perhaps I could also adopt you as I have more experiance there than, say, RyRy5. Perhaps you could join Wikipedia:WikiProject French communes if you need help. This block does seem unjust. Editorofthewiki 23:42, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • If another admin is contemplating an unblock, please contact me before doing so please check the block log of prior actions before doing so. MBisanz talk 00:26, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mentoring[edit]

Hello,

Thank you for you offer. I would like to learn more. I tried asking on another moderators talk page, but he erased my entry and did not reply! I can only assume I failed to follow some protocol. Perhaps to start with you can assist me in using the basic tools of communication at Wikipedia. unlike allmost every forum software avaialble to today, there does not seem to be a way to send a private message so everything must be discussed in public? When I enter a post it goes to the bottom not the top? Some posts just fall off into oblivion after xxx days? the table at the top does not contain a way to access historical information? I would like to learn how to be of help here but i feel like I am floundering with basic communication skills. How would you like to proceed? RealWorldExperience (talk) 01:36, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Check in the archives or use {{talkback}} template. But right now, I cannot mentor you do to some controversial issues addressing my recent block, and the block I have now. Nothing444 12:32, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing444, regardless of blocks, please don't offer to mentor other editors. You're quite new and inexperienced. You should be the student, not the teacher. Friday (talk) 13:50, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, this was before I knew. Nothing444 19:40, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DRV[edit]

Hi. I'm really sorry I didn't post this sooner, but it didn't occur to me until just now. The deletion of one or more "cabals" in your userspace is at WP:DRV, you may want to see the discussion or comment. Keilana|Parlez ici 23:13, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have changed; no longer should cabals be kept in Wikipedia except the "There is No Cabal Cabal". Once again just trying to prove a point. Nothing444 23:19, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Adoption[edit]

I guess I could adopt you. I haven't done much in this area, and I'm not sure what you're looking to get out of this, but I could informally adopt you and give you advice if you'd like. Just contact me with any questions. Malinaccier (talk) 01:04, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, but since User:Malinaccier, a way more experienced user than me is adopting you, I will be your co-adopter. I suggest asking Malinaccier for any major questions and you can ask me for any minor questions. Comments?--RyRy5 (talk) 01:13, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Meh. I really have no clue about adopting I've always been more of an admin coach. Could you (RyRy5) set up the sub-page that was requested on my talk page? I would also like to say that I doubt I could be very actively pursuing your "training" as I'm generally pretty busy. Therefore it's good that we have RyRy5 to help. Malinaccier (talk) 01:18, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Two points: One is that it is incredibly rude to tell someone that they have to do what you want when they offer you a favor. Malinaccier offered informal adoption so it's not good at all to say "no, formal" and tell Malinaccier to set up a subpage. The second point is that having RyRy5 as your adopter is probably not a great idea considering he still needs a ton of advice to survive on Wikipedia as it is. Metros (talk) 01:24, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What kind of subpage?--RyRy5 (talk) 01:24, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing444, don't worry about it. You're just eager to get some experience. Malinaccier (talk) 01:30, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have been reading up on wikipedia policies these past three days and I'm begginning to understand more about wikipedia's rules and what I have don wrong in the past. So no adoption?--RyRy5 (talk) 01:36, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine with me. Maybe in a few weeks/months though. BTW, I know User:Metros relativly well. I encounter him almost everyday and he seems like a serious admin which is good.--RyRy5 (talk) 01:40, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Nothing444 and RyRy5, you seem to be kind of floating around looking for someone who can seriously mentor you. While I don't usually do something formal, I'm willing to make an exception in this case. I really can't tell from your talk and discussions whether or not you have anyone else working with one or both of you formally, so I figured I'd offer to see if I can't help out with some of the issues you're running in to. Shell babelfish 02:04, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing444, I think I should adopt you. I have been suggested to adopt you at my talk page and I think I should consider it. User:Nousernamesleft will be watching me mentor you by the way. I hope you accept.--RyRy5 (talk) 03:08, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Rollback[edit]

I guess it is a month and 3 days after your block so...

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can only be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you do not want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message on my talk page. Happy editing! Malinaccier (talk) 13:39, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good. Just remember not to use it to undo anything other than vandalism. Vandalism only. I can't stress that enough. =) Best of luck, Malinaccier (talk) 13:45, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RyRy5's Barnstar[edit]

I really commend you for agreeing. He is a really good editor whose better contributions have been overshadowed. Shapiros10WuzHere 15:02, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks but I do have some things I need to improve. Also, what about the adoption?--RyRy5 (talk) 16:19, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
New section is better.--RyRy5 (talk) 16:27, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, Nousernamesleft suggested I adopt you. He said if I adopt you, he can probably adopt you too since he will be watching me mentor you. If I do adopt you, I suggest asking me minor questions like "What is vandalism" (I know you know the answer), but you should ask nousernamesleft questions like "how do you use rollback, popups, ect". He's one of my coaches by the way. --RyRy5 (talk) 16:34, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I kinda disagree by a few things.
  1. you haven't edited in the mainspace as much as me, so I probably know more on writing articles.
  2. I have created more articles than you.
  3. You have been blocked several times.
  4. A few more things but I want to get to the point.

I think I am a better article writer than you, and being a good article writer is important if you want to try the RFA. There are also a few other things I know I'm better at. Also, Nousernames should be the main adopter and I should be the co-adopter. Comments?--RyRy5 (talk) 16:56, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of course I won't. You've been here only about 3 months but I have learned more about wikipedia than you and I have been here for 2 months starting today. No offense.--RyRy5 (talk) 17:03, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good point. Well, I'll be a little busy improving my articles now, I just got a suggestion to do so. But feel free to ask questions.--RyRy5 (talk) 17:09, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I tried, but I don't think that's possible.--RyRy5 (talk) 17:45, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hers's a suggestion. What you just did wrong was that you interfered in our discussion with the topic called "Re:AWB". You can't add comments like the one you just gave me that has nothing to do with WP:AWB. User:Camanda has told you this to on my talkpage. Comments?--RyRy5 (talk) 00:13, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Award Center Request[edit]

I was wondering if you could rescind your challenge for Adopting 200 Users. The nature of the request asks for quantity in adoptions over quality, and personally I believe all adoptions should be handled strictly through WP:ADOPT. Your feedback would be appreciated. Thanks --SharkfaceT/C 05:04, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your concern. Still, welcoming 1000 users consists of putting 1000 templates on the talk pages of new users. Adoption, however, is much more serious, as an established Wikipedian devotes lots of time and effort into helping a new Wikipedian who has shown that he/she wishes to greatly improve the project. --SharkfaceT/C 14:11, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA, apology[edit]

Per Malinaccier's civility concern at my comment there which he perceived to be rude (specifically the part about being first) I'd like to say that I meant no offense by anything said if it seemed that way to you as well, I just meant being the first to comment on the RfA, sorry if it seemed rude, thanks. The DominatorTalkEdits 00:18, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your RFA[edit]

I am sorry, but I have closed your Request for adminship prematurely. Simply put, it had no chance of passing for several reasons, including your involvement in the cabal discussion, your recent blocks, and your lack of serious mainspace contributions. I am sorry about this, and I hope you don't take it personally. You may wish to consider applying for an evaluation by other Wikipedia editors for feedback on how to obtain the necessary experience. Once you are ready to request adminship again, you may want to look at guide to requests for adminship.

If you have any other questions about becoming an administrator, please don't hesitate to ask me. Good luck! Enigma message Review 00:34, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing, I am sorry but you are far too inexperienced to try the RFA yet. If you try with the same status as you do now, your RFA will be WP:SNOW. When I saw it, I was going to oppose but it has been closed already. I also suggest the above. You need to be editing in the project and mainspace alot more. If you improve I will be happy to nominate you. But with your reprutation you have now, I suggest waiting at least 8 months to a year if I feel I should nominate you then. Just another tip, I suggest answering questions longer. If you make a lomg, good, decent answer, more users will support you. Cheers.--RyRy5 (talk) 00:52, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"I have speedied"[edit]

Please don't tell people that you have speedied an article like this. All you did was tagged it. An administrator came along to actually "speedy" it. Metros (talk) 22:33, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Metros has replied to your comment.--RyRy5 (talk) 03:06, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It was rightly tagged though. Good find. – ClockworkSoul 03:18, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Ex[edit]

You should ask User:Persian Poet Gal instead. I deleted it on February 6 per T3, but it's not the one you created. Persian Poet Gal did the April deletion that deleted your creation, per G2. It has been superseded by being included in the coding of {{Adopter}}. The only pages that linked to it, were pages that you had offered adoption according to this: Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Ex.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 03:18, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
By the way Nothing, please, please, please slow down! I just noticed you added an article which had been created less than a week ago to the GA list. You got to slow down and really not delve into parts of Wikipedia where you appear to be unfamiliar with the practices. Please try sticking to the mainspace. You are really obviously overspreading yourself trust me. It does not put more faith in your experience as a Wikipedia editor. You ignore most of the advice that's being given to you and I am getting worried :(...please, if you really do not want to face more problems ahead stick to the mainspace for several months. You really have not taken the time to understand Wikipedia and you better get to it quick but at the same time, take things one step at a time.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 03:42, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have to agree with Persian Poet Gal. Taking Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2008-04-24 Wales on is probably a really, really bad idea if you don't know your way around Wikipedia. Metros (talk) 03:48, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I CANNOT AGREE MORE. Nothing, you're really not ready for taking on the very heavy task of mediation. Please, take a pass on this, or I fear it will end quite badly. – ClockworkSoul 07:07, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation required[edit]

Nothing444, less than two weeks ago Nick unblocked you User_talk:Nothing444#Blocked_2 and had a namespace restriction monitor put in your monobook.jss file. It gave the warning:

Reminder: You are likely to be blocked if you continue. For the user talk namespace, you are allowed to edit your own talkpage, and as for others, only essential posts are allowed.

Since then you have violated the namespace restriction over a dozen times. Unless you respond to this message, agreeing that the next time you make an edit outside of the permitted parameters, that is editing outside the Mainspace, Talk:, or essential edits to User talk:, you will be blocked for a minimum of one month, I will be blocking you for 1 week for violation of previous unblock terms. MBisanz talk 09:23, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A joke?[edit]

I can only assume this edit was meant to be a joke. Please don't joke around on Wikipedia, it's not appropriate George The Dragon (talk) 17:27, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violation of prior unblock conditions and adding a nonsense image to an article. Please stop. You're welcome to make useful contributions after the block expires. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. MBisanz talk 17:33, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Blocked: indefinitely for disruptive editing. After consulting with MBisanz, I have decided to extend your block: you don't appear to be here to contribute constructively, and are a constant time sink for the volunteers of this project that do. Your recent acts of pure vandalism after numerous warnings, blocks, and attempted guidance by patient, competent users only confirms to me that you have an incorrigible behavior problem, and as such the demoralizing effect of a short punitive block isn't the correct solution; a long-term block that resolves the problem of your recalcitrant disruption is. I normally go far out of my way in accommodating good-faith editors if duty calls, but your unwillingness to develop cluefulness leaves me no choice. east.718 at 17:49, April 25, 2008
I endorse this action. MBisanz talk 17:56, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aye. Enough is enough. MaxSem(Han shot first!) 18:07, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly seems reasonable. TreasuryTagtc 18:16, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Aye. After looking at the block logs, then following it to the talk page, and following the diffs here...what the hell? Did somebody hack your account? 21655 ωhατ δo γoυ ωαητ? 20:48, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Likewise, I endorse this action. You have had sufficient chances, and have exhausted the community's patience. - Philippe 20:26, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps we can unblock Nothing in a year or so. For now, leave him blocked. Editorofthewikireview my edits here! 19:41, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Editorofthewiki. East718 will decide that tho, seeing as currently it's indef. Basketball110 My story/Tell me yours 00:26, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
