Hi

I have received a message from you stating this article should be deleted. It is not clear to me what the motive for this is - the article is merely a list of suicide bombings by Hamas, stating dry facts with no POV whatsoever (if you think to the contrary please point out what exactly in the list seems POV to you). Furthermore, numerous such "lists" exist, many of which are far more esoteric (e.g. List of Irgun attacks during the 1930s - a list of attacks made by a group which no longer exists more than 70 years ago) and at times POV.

If the Hamas attacks list is deleted, so should all other such lists as well.

For the above reasons I am removing the 'deletion' label.

Thank you

Sangil 19:27, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NickelShoe, obviously Sangil misunderstood, and I've already told him so. I as well as you are checking recent prods and alerting the editors , but I am doing it specifically for material of a religious or political nature where there may be POV problems, using the text:

The page you have edited, ... has been listed for proposed deletion. I have removed the deletion tag in order that there can be a full discussion. It will undoubtedly be listed on AfD within the next day or two. I am taking no position on the issue at this time; I de-prod any page where I think may involve religious or political controversy to avoid possible bias by having a fuller discussion. (I then let the deletor do the work of posting the Afd) I am glad I'm not the only one checking, because I see many editors who do not get the warning they are supposed to get. Thanks for the clarification, and..oops :)

DACS Wiki[edit]

Hi -

I just wanted you to know that I'm still putting together the wiki for the Danbury Area Computer Society which is providing information about the club. I hope to have it finished soon (end of year).

Thanks for the heads up. Waitak 01:50, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, didn't notice. That page is soo old to me now that I don't even remember what they even do. If, after all this time, no one has expanded it beyond its current basic state, maybe it doesn't really deserve a place here anyway. I will however try to flesh it out a bit, after I finish copyediting a bigger article, so that it might at least have it's notability (or lack thereof) more immediately discernible. Thanks. OK - well my info is coming from the user group's website - in which I am the webmaster. Is that OK? I'm going to edit that reference line, but do you need anything more in regards to notability? Thank you for the reply, I have added my contribution to the wiki-yoruba page

The page needs lot of contributions and if I get a good deal from wikipedia

You can trust to get everything you need to know about yoruba and their history

There are thousands of Nigerian things not here on wikipedia yet and since it is known to be an online encyclopedia , everyone's contributions is welcomed

I need an official contract from wikipedia to start up an intensive project and research in regards to Yoruba articles and in general Nigerian articles

Hi again Nicole, I am not talking of only translating articles, am saying getting to give wikipedia the whole lots about the YORUBA LAND , and everything there is to know .... I mean , I can do some things for free but going out of my way to give everything to wikipedia is not a day's job ( not even a year's job )

Imagine if wikipedia has the latest stories of YORUBA LAND, Yoruba is a big word you know ... widely spread and combines a minimum of 7 - 9 states ....

How would I be able to get a whole bunch of 100 page facts to wikipedia per month , and do it for free ...

I would of course do a tiny fraction of it for voluntary purposes and hope someone in the next two months brings something else useful, but if I get motivated with a 'contract', or at least a deal ... wikipedia would get the best results and their purpose of diversity would be getting accomplished.

I understand wikipedia is a none-profit organization and I have equally in the past made my contribution(s), even financial wise , and am hoping to make more contributions in the future. I am just bringing a suggestion that i think would help the organization to greater heights.

If people say google is their best site, and wikipedia is their second best site. Give them a chance in the future to say wikipedia is their best site and google is their second best site.

I hope you understand what I mean and I really appreciate your time and effort taking to reply my long messages.

Engineer Bola 13:42, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Engineer Bola[reply]

That is exactly my point ... I have contacted wikipedia , but I got no reply .. I do not know why

Have you an idea anyone at all I contact in regards to my proposal ?

Engineer Bola 15:55, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Engineer Bola[reply]

ps: I am not speaking for myself alone but I am sure there are also other people like me out there waiting for a motivation to provide quite vital information(s) to wikipedia. All they need is a little push.

Smith[edit]

Thanks for letting me know. I'm not going to argue with people about the notability guidelines, but I did stop adding information about people like him a while ago. If local politicians are important enough to have articles on, then businessmen who are on the boards of 3 different Fortune 500 companies should be as well. Just my opinion... Chadlupkes 17:06, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sources? Like company reports? That won't save the article. If sources were the issue, it would be flagged as 'unsourced'. It's flagged as 'non-notable', meaning (to me) that people don't care that this guy makes decisions that affect billions of dollars and thousands of lives. Maybe I should post something on the talk page... Chadlupkes 17:36, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I have read it. And I'm wondering who has to do the writing. I don't have the time, and nobody would care what I write anyway. Chadlupkes 17:45, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apology from Maura Larkins[edit]

Hi NickelShoe: I'm sorry I assumed you were responsible for erasing the Cheryl Cox page. It was Bkonrad.

I actually had blanked the Cheryl Cox page after Subwayguy first criticized it. Then apparently a robot put it back up. Then I decided to fix the article, to make it verifiable, to put in sources. I erased almost all of the article, and put in Education Week and Seattle Times quotes, when BKonrad erased my page entirely and replaced it with information he got from Cheryl Cox's campaign statments, and her own office!!! The ONE newspaper article he found was mined for irrelevant information.

Is Cheryl Cox important to Bkonrad? Why have this article at all?

Bkonrad has shown no reason why Cheryl Cox is noteworthy.

I strongly urge that the article be removed entirely. It's pathetic as it stands. It's just a promotion for Cheryl Cox. I doubt that Bkonrad even knows the difference between Cheryl Cox Educational Consultants and Cheryl Cox, educational consultant. (One's in Texas, the other in California.)Mauralarkins 21:24, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About Bkonrad[edit]

NickelShoe: I would like to erase the one line I wrote in the Cheryl Cox article, so it will be entirely Bkonrad's article. I want nothing to do with an article that was put on Wikipedia only in order to eliminate someone else's article. It's just a demonstration of power. That's not how an unbiased website works. Do you realize that the two of the three Smartvoter links are to campaign material? This stuff was submitted to Smartvoter by Cheryl Cox. Bkonrad has no balancing article about Chula Vista Mayor Steve Padilla, Cox's opponent. The one newspaper article he references is clearly an attack on Steve Padilla.

You didn't improve Wikipedia's integrity by removing my note saying that the article came from campaing materials. This seems to be a power play by Bkonrad. I don't mind having my article cut. I did it myself--twice. What I mind is a one-sided article being put in its place by a person who would never have thought of writing about the subject until he erased my article. The article is purely a promotion of Cheryl Cox, by someone who knows nothing about her, and did very little research.

I see that you suggest that I go to some place here on Wikipedia to discuss this matter. Actually, I think my two-day foray into Wikipedia has been such an eye-opener that I believe that ordinary people, the ones who rely on Wikipedia without knowing how it's constructed, would be well-served by getting a peek into how it works. Personally, I'm shocked to see how administrators like Bkonrad throw their weight around, and instead of bringing an article into balance, they ride that pendulum all the way to the other side!Mauralarkins 02:47, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Nickel Shoe[edit]

I do appreciate your understanding that I want to dissociate myself from the Cheryl Cox article. The one line that Bkonrad took from me to put in his article has been deleted. The article as it stands has been entirely written by him! Actually, it was largely written by Cheryl Cox, but that just makes this whole thing more interesting.Mauralarkins 03:32, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Drum Circle ammendments[edit]

Hi Nickleshoe. I'm new to this so bear with me. I am a professional drumcircle facilitator and have been for Seven years. So I was a bit shocked when i got to the drum circle page and saw prominent reference to "hippie" culture" and a picture of drums and candles. Not the world I inhabit at all. My world ranges from touring schools in the UK and corporate events in plush hotels all over Europe. Candles and hippies don't get a look in. So an unbalanced page. True what I put in did look like self advertising but maybe i need some help to tip the balance of the entry back to the centre. ..Freddythehat 00:13, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Garnault[edit]

Hi NickelShoe,

Saw your note and I was sitting on the fence. I didn't remove the items from the website, but was curious myself if the editor was Paul Garnault or just used the name... A lot of the writing is still in the 3rd person, but there seems to be more "fact" being added. Not sure that the editor knows how to write, so they might be just "acting" like an editor, which lends credence to them being Paul Garnault... Is that circular logic?!?

Thanks for jumping in to help with the overall article.

Take care,

Larry

Silo Theater[edit]

Thanks for the welcome and the pointers. Yes we do have a problem with notability and I am indeed involved with the group so COI is also a point, although all the information is factual and objective, meaning no personal opinions are expressed.

Would a notable review from a national newspaper help the notability (The Scotsman) or would this just be seen as self promotion?

I guess an entry dealing with the genre of object theater would be the place to mention us. Perhaps I'll have a go a writing one. Thanks anyway or your time.

SLANTRIC[edit]

Hello. I created the term SLANTRIC, as defined by me on the revised page.

Now, just so that there is no confusion, I took that name as my internet radio personality, as well - so I can see how you could label it 'blantant advertising'... The reason I defined it here on wikipedia, before confirming it as anything else was so that no one else could attempt to define the term, or my radio radio program in the future.

My article no longer includes the website or internet radio station on which we broadcast, therefore, I find it appropriate for wikipedia. If you still find it to be inappropriate, please revise it as you see fit and send it me so that we will be able to define SLANTRIC before anyone else does. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria.

chat regarding delete[edit]

I saw the discussion on the image deletion for copyright and understand the gNU licensing.

While Baker may not be famous, he is known to underground music circles and has several published articles regarding his site Barbwires on which he releases some current content and various songs. Papers like "The Noise" in Boston have discussed his site and his contributions to music in the Boston area, as well as published articles in Worcester music rags with the same relevancy. There are not many people who have played with SRV, remember and contribute to where it all started, with local music.

Stevie was unsigned when Bowie first heard him play and had to have him on a track with him. That is what local music means to me. It's the underground stations, edu internet streaming and broadcast radio that stands by the people who are not driven by the "music machine" and program director automata that we all are faced with every day we "tune in". Bands like L7 keep it real by not selling out who they really are, and I believe they are notable and worth reading about. If you get a chance, check out KDIL radio (KDIL.COM) for some very strange STUFF that comes from the early 70's that it seems some still remember. The KDIL thing is a strange little newspaper that circulated in the underground Phoenix area in the 70's by some Phoenix music personalities. Some have moved on, some have made great places for themselves, some are quietly notable, and others are still lost in the haze of those "crazy days" and keep it alive to whatever benefit - perhaps none. B-T-W, I have no connection with the KDIL thing, but there is a photo of Baker in one of rags pages, that mentions sausage king or some such dribble, and comes from the Stevie show in Tempe.

I understand the deletion for the image and cannot satisfy the requirements to "prove" public domain. Thanks for your thoughtful notes and consideration. cheers! Zzeon 05:40, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Zzeon[reply]

Hi. Since you putted the thing of lack of importance I have tried to improve the article. Thanks to this I have been able to know more about this awesome pelotari, so thank you for putting that. I don't know if the article is completed, but it has more information than it had before, saying how many prizes he won and information about his son. It has actually more information than the one of the Spanish Wikipedia, which hasn't so much info. I don't know if it still lacks of importance, or if it is unreadable (I'm not a very good English speaker), and I don't think I should be the one to decide that. Thanks for the help you gave me in my first article.

Bye. -- Likirman 09:10, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Streetlites[edit]

Hey, I've redone the streetlites article, as per some of the rules I should have followed before!

I would have done this earlier if it were not for other commitments, so thanks for bringing it's quality problems to light...

Hope it is now acceptable.

Merger Proposal[edit]

I have proposed that an article you recently edited, George Scelle should be merged with Georges Scelle because the two articles are about the same person. --TommyBoy 15:25, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, I have executed the merger myself. --TommyBoy 07:23, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

Let me know what you think of this 1347 in Ireland; am I going into too much depth, wandering too much from other Year's in style? Fergananim 17:27, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I'm not very deft with wikpedia.

you had an article "akshai sarin" deleted - it was compiled from the newspaper clippings and the artists profile.

can you please restore it, or edit it to suit wikipedia's policies.

cheers

AfD nomination of Vexta (street artist)[edit]

An editor has nominated Vexta (street artist), an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Civilian (street artist) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Hi. I am currently researching for possible article on Steve Tanner, English football (soccer) referee. I am wondering why the above page was redirected to List of Full House characters, when the nearest character name to that is actually Stephanie Tanner? I have therefore created a disambig at the above page, which still mentions Full House, although I'm not sure as to why. Your comments would be appreciated. Thanks. Refsworldlee(chew-fat)(eds) 03:46, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Tanner was a one-episode cousin character on Full House played by Kirk Cameron. Someone created an article with even less information than that, and there's very little more that could be said. Hence the redirect. The Steve Tanner you want to write about is undoubtably more notable. NickelShoe (Talk) 17:33, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for that. I have since added Steve Tanner (Brit "Coronation Street" soap opera ex-character) to the disambig as well, so I will update the page with the info you just gave me, unless you do this yourself. Many thanks once again, happy editing. Refsworldlee(chew-fat)(eds) 17:43, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Juan Alvarez[edit]

I am Juan Alvarez, a local rapper from Hollywood Florida. I can understand that you delete this article because Im not popular enough for Wikipedia, but Im on the way. I have begun recording a demo tape that will most likely be sent to Def Jam recordings. I decided to make my article because if someone else makes it, they will have false information about me. I feel that I should make it to make things clear, and I feel that it can help the world get a better understanding of me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by PRBoi1229 (talkcontribs) 20:37, 22 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Film festival[edit]

Hello Nicole,

I have received your email concerning my last post about our festival. I understand your polices concerning spam etc. However, I was using the Philadelphia Film Festival as a guide to archive our festival. Our intention, once we get listed is to have others ad appropriate content to our listing and grow the page. I do not believe the simple summary of our festival violated your polices. Please advice to how to get listed as other festivals are!

Thanks

Boabab band[edit]

I started a topic called Boabab Band as an intensive Biography of the Band I manage- I intend to build a biography of the history of the band and used some information (I own the copyright to) and images (which I also own the copyright to) as a platform to begin with. Beforehand I registered under a creative commons licence of which which I put the coding at the bottom of the page but since I'm new to Wikipedia I dont know how to get it to show as an icon example:

a rel=license href=httpcreativecommons.orglicensesby-sa3.0 img alt=Creative Commons License style=border-width0 src=httpi.creativecommons.orglby-sa3.088x31.png a br This work is licensed under a a rel=license href=httpcreativecommons.orglicensesby-sa3.0Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Licensea.

The information I have appears on other websites but I'm only using it as a platform to start off with but my intention is to contact previous fans and members to add and edit according to the information they have. Id' like to use this information later to publish a biography.

Please help me get it right so I dont have to keep redoing my work and thereby wasting my time.

Thanks Martin Manager Boabab —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Boababband (talkcontribs) 09:19, 26 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]
