Welcome![edit]

Some cookies to welcome you!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Mafrado! If you have any questions feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. You can also check out Wikipedia:Questions or type {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

It would be great if you could add your name to the list of participants on the Women, Science and Scottish History editathon series event page, and please feel free to communicate with other participants on the talk page for the event. You can talk about articles to edit, tips for editing, or help each other practice - whatever you like!

Remember, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that will automatically produce your username and the date. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

Incorrectly blocked edit[edit]

Hi Mafrado. My apologies that an edit you tried to make to Joyce Jillson was blocked by the edit filter. A particular user or group of users is currently spamming the site with some edits that your edit happened to be similar to. I've now removed the particular term that was flagging incorrect edits as a result of false positives such as this one. I've now made the edit that was blocked, thank you for finding that source and again sorry that we accidentally blocked your addition! Sam Walton (talk) 00:09, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

History of Medicine editathon[edit]

Hello again, Mafrado!
Apologies for taking so long to get back to you after last week but am just recovering from the flu. Thank you so much for taking part in the History of Medicine editathon. Just so you know, we uploaded in excess of 500 images to Wiki Commons, created 4 brand new articles on Wikipedia, and improved a further 56! (Did you manage to complete the article you were sandboxing?) For the event page, click here or to see the whole illustrated story of the event then you can click here: Storify: ILW editathon 2016
I hope that you enjoyed the day, and that we'll see you on Wiki again soon.

Now that you've learned - or refreshed - the basics of editing using Wikipedia’s Visual Editor, I hope that you'll stay logged in and edit or create more articles. I've added some booklets and some links below that you may find useful.

If you're not feeling bold enough to write an (other) article straight away, why not try a small edit first, or adding a link? Don't worry about being perfect, Wiki is a constantly evolving entity. Fortunately there's a whole team of editors just like you who can help.

Welcome! Now have some cake...

You can't break Wikipedia, but in case you're still nervous here are some pages that you might find helpful, especially the first one which covers the main things to remember about using Visual Editor.

The next up-and-coming Wikipedia event is this one run by Sara Thomas, Wikimedian in Residence at Museums and Galleries Scotland. Details here: Modern Scottish Women 2 - Art & Feminism

The University of Edinburgh are also looking into running an editathon for International Women’s Day on (or near) 8th March 2016 – details are still to be confirmed but will be updated on my project page here: Wikipedia:University_of_Edinburgh
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Remember, if you are writing on a talk page, please sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. See you soon! Stinglehammer (talk) 01:19, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
