1979 SEC Baseball Tournament

Thanks for working on the 1979 SEC Baseball Tournament article. I noticed you requested help on the bracket. I can relate. I have been looking for a 4-team (for early SEC tournaments) and 6-team (for NCAA Regionals prior to 1999 & SEC tournaments from 1993-1995) double elimination bracket template but have been unable to find one. I don't know where I could request one be made. For the time being what you have done will have to suffice. It looks good enough. I'll edit the headings a bit (change "Semi-Finals" to "Finals"). If you come across the templates we need them please let me know. Also, if you're into editing SEC tournament stuff or NCAA baseball tournament stuff then let me know. Thanks again! Hey, thanks again for helping out with college baseball stuff. Right now the 2007 SEC Baseball Tournament is going on. I'm going to do my best to keep the article up to date but if you want to add stuff to it then please go ahead. Also, the 2007 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament will be starting soon. That one requires a lot of work to keep up with. I'd appreciate any help you would be willing to give on that. It'd be awesome if we could get all of the SEC tournaments done, also. Quick question for you: I created the 1992 SEC Baseball Tournament article and got halfway done with the bracket only to realize that it's not a real tournament bracket like the CWS uses. It's convoluted in someway in the way it matches up teams to play each other. I just gave up on it. If you have any idea as to what the SEC was doing back then with tourney brackets then please let me know. I was only 12 years old back then so I don't really remember it. For example, right now it says the red schools are a member of the CCHA, whereas they are actually part of the Big Ten. I don't expect everyone to know the history of every Division I football program, but I do expect most experience editors to understand the WP:GNG notability standard. This topic clearly fails that standard, and it's odd to me that some folks want to fight that. FYI, your comments about the historical Auburn-Georgia Tech rivalry were dead on point; that was a real rivalry, and it is fondly remembered by Auburn and Tech alumni here in Atlanta. There is periodic talk about reviving it as an annual or at least regularly scheduled series, but the difficulty of the 8-game SEC schedule and the recent weak performance of Tech makes that unlikely. Mississippi State colors

Per this edit: Mississippi State has an accent color of gray -- those hex codes can be found here. I think an accent color is needed, and either the #777777 or #CCCCCC should be used. C is seen better than 7, but they use both on their Athletics website. So it is not the wrong color. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 21:56, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the point of the color list, but the school's official colors are maroon and white only, not grey or black -- that's all over the website. That link you provided is the same one I used to confirm the official maroon (660000). Along with the greys, it lists an "official" blue, yellow, green, orange, brown, purple, etc., but it's not like every color of the rainbow is an official school color -- it's just that those are the shades to use if you're going to use one of those colors. What brought this on was navboxes in the "CollegePrimaryStyle" for Mississippi State having an awful grey (the darker one) border around them that's definitely not one of the school colors. In addition, the letters on the navboxes would come in with that dark grey and be impossible to read (on maroon) if it wasn't overridden to be white. I see no reason why Mississippi State navboxes should have grey borders when that's not a school color. Jhn31 (talk) 02:02, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

Just because the official colors are maroon and white, doesn't mean we can't use an accent color. This logo sheet for the university shows PMS 428, a.k.a. CCC. The blue, yellow, green, etc. is for academic purposes, not necessarily for Athletics, which the source even says "Along with the official MSU maroon being Pantone 505, below is a sample of approved support and accent colors that can be used in promoting the academic side of the university". Athletics uses grey on their logos, according to the logo sheet, so I don't see why it can't be there. They grey is used a lot in their logos, on their website, etc. CCC is compliant if it were to override the white font -- so that means it's readable. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 03:15, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

Maps on college football season articles

Jhn31, I think these maps you are adding to the college football season articles are pretty ridiculous and cluttering. You've also got a big problem with articles like 1950 college football season, where your map is missing all the small schools that played together with the big boys essentially in one division before NCAA classifications were created. @Lizard the Wizard:, thoughts on this? I think maps on articles work best when there's only a few locations listed, that way the map can be reduced to a reasonable size and still be readable. See the map on 1987 Masters Tournament for example, which I'd consider reasonably sized; stuffing 80 or so schools onto a map that size would just be silly, but blowing the map up across the entire page is arguably an even worse option. There are already a number of similar college football maps on various pages here. And putting a nationwide map on a season article is pretty standard in other sports where the alignments aren't the same every year (such as European soccer and hockey). I agree that it doesn't look very good on mobile, but nothing in that template ever does.

To clarify, someone put 4 maps up on NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision#Maps of teams. However, it doesn't make a lot of sense to just have them for 4 random years, since there's a change almost every year. NCAA Results Tables

Hi, I've noticed you add NCAA results tables to a few different NCAA articles I pay attention to. They're really neat in general, but since they aren't on every article, I wonder where they come from/if they're being organized by anyone?

Looking at the tennis one, I'm a bit worried they could end up very overwhelming at some point. Imagining what such a chart would look like for say, Men's Golf and it's 100+ year history, or even Men's Basketball... Embowaf (talk) 01:32, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

There has been one up on the Women's Basketball tournament article for a while. I cleaned it up some a while back, and then added some to other articles, using an Excel spreadsheet I built to quickly put them together. I agree that if they go much longer than 30 columns they can become a problem, which is why I never added one to the men's basketball tournament page. I think they would need to have a horizontal scrollbar, and there is a table template out there that has one, but for some reason that one can only go 30 rows down, and I don't know how to create or edit templates. Was thinking about adding them to the NFL pages (similar to how basically every soccer season article in the world has one), but then wondered whether I should discuss it with the NFL project or just be bold, and then haven't gotten around to finishing the maps back to 1920. Hi, Jhn31, I want to reiterate Gonnym's point. These maps you created for the NFL teams and for the specific seasons should be used somewhere as leaving it unused is just taking space for no reason. I'd ask you to raise this with the NFL project because if not, I will nominate them for deletion. And if you feel they shouldn't be around you could tag it for speedy deletion. Why not fix the maps correctly

Yes, their common names actually include "FC", although that has started to fade recently. Just use the width parameter because the text is too muddled and will likely cause problems with screen readers and for the visually impaired. Walter Görlitz (talk) 07:39, 23 January 2022 (UTC)

Howdy. Are you going to delete "Los Angeles Angeles of Anaheim" from the infobox of the Los Angeles Angels page, as well? Might as well deny the name was ever used, completely. GoodDay (talk) 15:43, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

No one is "denying" anything. The titles of the season articles are "XXXX Los Angeles Angels season." That's the COMMONNAME they were commonly referred to as. Just like the New York Knickerbockers are usually called the Knicks and infoboxes link to that shortened name. Jhn31 (talk) 15:47, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

I'm not denying that those season pages were moved to their current status, though I wish someone would've invited me to (assuming one was held) the RM. I'm more concerned with how the team is shown in the AL West standings, during those seasons their official name was the "Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim".
