Hi!

Unfortunately, I'm not much of an active contributor, so I'm not sure I'd be of much help, but you can talk to other members of WikiProject Lehigh Valley. --Wikipeep 494 (talk) 06:46, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

There's an old, archived note on my talk page asking me to improve this article. Absolutely no need for this now! Thanks. --Old Moonraker (talk) 06:20, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Nancy Hicks Maynard

Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Nancy Hicks Maynard. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. emerson7 05:54, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

it's really not a matter of citing the source of the material. the problem is with the content is almost word for for word, paragraph by paragraph, copied from the source. --emerson7 14:08, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
i know it seems drastic, but wp guidelines call for either removing the copyrighted text or tagging the article for deletion....i chose the lesser of the two. when editing wikipedia articles, it is not permitted to use, or even re-wording the work of others without permission. it is fine to use facts and figures, but another thing altogether when copying the text, structure, and themes. --emerson7 15:05, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
hello again. i made a few more changes to the article to bring it more into compliance. since the two references provided pretty well serve as the basis for content, i didn't think inline refs were at all necessary. otherwise...article is looking pretty good. cheers! --emerson7 21:44, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Image:Bep signing autographs at esu.JPG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:Black Eyed Peas 2.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:Black Eyed Peas 2.jpg]]. FYI

Not sure if you want to add this information to 2008 Barack Obama assassination scare, or create a entire new article, but you might be interested in this. Khoikhoi 01:05, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Simply awesome. How long did it take you to write that article? Maybe you should add it to Template talk:Did you know or something, that was quite impressive. By the way, there was another case in Florida, but I'm not sure if it warrants its own article. Maybe right now the most notable of the assassination scares was the Denver one, but as this story continues to develop, maybe can eventually make 2008 Barack Obama assassination scare a disambig. page instead of a redirect. Thoughts? Khoikhoi 09:43, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
You could go to the talk pages of those articles as you've suggested, maybe another page is Wikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests? I can't think of any others. Khoikhoi 06:59, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view previous uploads by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'image' namespace from the drop down box (or see [1]). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!--OsamaKReply? on my talk page, please 02:57, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Hero Fiennes-Tiffin in Harry Potter preview.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Hero Fiennes-Tiffin in Harry Potter preview.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 13:23, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:800px-Anakinredeemed.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:800px-Anakinredeemed.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:06, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Image permission problem with Image:Declare yourself alba ad.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Declare yourself alba ad.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ChrisiPK (talk) 08:47, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Boldface

Hello, at Traffic (2000 film), I removed the boldface from the "Cast" section because it is better used to highlight actors and their roles when there are multiple lines of text for each person. Keeping the bold formatting as it is does nothing, really... pretty much all the actors and roles are single line, so the reader can go through them easily. If there were multiple lines like at Sunshine (2007 film)#Cast, though, boldface can help the reader lock his/her eyes on each name. Hope this makes sense. —Erik (talkcontrib) 14:16, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Userbox for GA reviews

The userbox {{User Good Articles reviewed}} has been updated so that it can now link to a page in your user subspace where you keep track of all your GA reviews, if you have such a page. This can be done by adding a | and then the name of your user subpage (or subsection of your regular user page) wherever you have the template called. For example, on my user page I am using

{{User Good Articles reviewed|6|User:Rjanag/GA reviews}}

which displays as

This user has reviewed 6 Good Article nominations on Wikipedia.

There is more information on how to do this at Template:User Good Articles reviewed.

Note: If you are not interested in doing this, you don't have to do anything; the template will still work for you exactly as it does now.

Hi, thanks for reviewing the article. I fix the chronology in the "Writing and recording" section, but Im not sure how to put the info in the "Music video" since there are two authors in the book. Hunter Kahn, just wanted to let you know I reverted your recent edits to this article. I don't think many of them added much to the article. While you added many unnecessary words to the copy you also left out some necessary articles. Also, "film" is preferred over "movie" in film articles. Nothing personal, and thanks for the interest in improving articles.

I have worked on those two articles before and the main problem is a lot of resources for them won't be online (interviews, reviews, sales figures, etc.) but the bonus is that it is more likely that they will have been featured in books (especially Carnage). I have them on my watchlist but when you are interested in improving it drop me a note (and one to WT:CMC couldn't hurt). (Emperor (talk) 03:39, 26 February 2009 (UTC))

See what else is need for it to pass. igordebraga 17:36, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

(You've also erased the info you added about the alternate opening and ending, which was another objection of mine you addressed.)

"The film originally had both an alternate opening and an alternate ending.[33] The former, depicting the Fraternity's origins, is available on the special edition DVD.[34]" -- it is there!

And also, moved back all the info into a "Casting" section. See if it's good enough now.igordebraga 18:22, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

It's because I found info on most of the cast (7 out of 12), so thought it was worthy to return the info to each actor instead of a separate section. But I split again, since you think it's better this way. igordebraga 18:44, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Quick question. I see that you're changing a lot of the words that illustrate that the person spoke something specifically (stated, contend, etc.) to the word "said". I guess it is okay to put it in the lead. The article needs a lead image, so that would probably be the best solution.--Maitch (talk) 02:38, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Regarding your recent edits, linking to territories seems like a little bit much. Per WP:OVERLINK, links should be provided "if they are particularly relevant to the topic of the article". For example, the United States and Germany could be linked, but I think that the other items are a bit much. What's your take? —Erik (talkcontrib) 02:52, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Otherwise, though, thank you for the other edits you have made so far! :) —Erik (talkcontrib) 02:59, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Right now, I don't have a computer with sound at hand, but the source doesn't immediately indicate the speech was two minutes. The wide acclaim thing seems a bit puffy and the hook might benefit from being more specific by mentioning the response in more detail by naming people and publications. On a side note: When I tried to write about this kid there were too little reliable sources, so unfortunately you beat me to it. Are you aware that he has an interest in acting too? He appeared in a Broadway Dreams performance with Adam Hunter. :) - Mgm|(talk) 12:01, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Ratings

I use Newsbank to find ratings. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything about that episode as they only list the twenty most-watched shows. —TheLeftorium 16:08, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

The ratings for that specific episode is mentioned here. Gary King (talk) 16:43, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

I've asked some experts, and I don't think I'll be able to get away with a fair use lead image. I might be able to add another in the body of the article if you like. -- Scorpion0422 19:38, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
Sure, I'll review it. It may take me a couple of days though. -- Scorpion0422 13:53, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Duvall harper hubbard tender mercies.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Duvall harper hubbard tender mercies.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 03:18, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Paul Schlesselman MySpace photo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Paul Schlesselman MySpace photo.jpg.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:39, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

File:Jonathan krohn at cpac.jpg listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, File:Jonathan krohn at cpac.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Jonathan krohn at cpac.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Jonathan krohn at cpac.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. — neuro(talk) 16:05, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

South Park

I don't know if you have the page watchlisted, but I wanted to point out that you may have misread the discussion. It was not supposed to be for all South Park episodes. The discussion was only a single part of the overall discussion. We are going through each season, one discussion at a time, and looking at each episode individually. Right now it's just a discussion on season one. The reason of my explanation can be found below your comment on the talk page.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 20:06, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner - best to keep that fair-use image only on the article about its subject itself. But I am in the process of attempting to get some other free-use images to use for these topics. Cirt (talk) 06:12, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Update: Now we have a free-use image. Cheers, Cirt (talk) 08:14, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

LexNex

Are you using the general lexisnexis web page when you are searching? I've tried using that search on that page and I get nothing (not just for South Park, but any of the shows I like to edit). You said you had an account, can I ask where you got it. Is it through a university, or a personal account you have? Thanks, Curiously-Interested Editor :D  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 18:10, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Are you using the same site that I linked above, or is it some other version? I have my university searches, but sometimes they aren't worth a damn with regard to certain subjects.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 00:22, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Southpark...stuff

Weight Gain 4000 is looking a lot more ship shape now, thanks.

I hear that if you're googling for South Park stuff, you might come across DVD commentaries. Just as an aside, as I know you'd only do so to back up what you already legally own! ;) Alastairward (talk) 01:20, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

It's no problem, or extra effort. I have/can worked alongside editors who share(d) differing opinions with me over certain aspects of both TV and Film. For the most part it's quite simple, I think it always boils down to that initial interaction over the subject matter. Sometimes the interaction goes foul (Pixelface would probably be one of those situations), and others it's just one topic of differing opinion. I find that you and I tend to have the same opinion with regard to the end result of articles, just differences among how to get to that result.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 05:12, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

WP:FILMS Coordinator Election

Don't forget to update the rationale on the image page itself. If that doesn't summary what the text beside the image states then it won't meet the criteria. Though I'm a little iffy about the inclusion of that particular image for the text describing it (i.e. why is that one so special over some other one of him in the film), I realize that finding a free image of Duvall from back in the day when he was promoting the film would be very difficult to accomplish - if not impossible. Also, as I said on the FAC page, check into doing quote boxes. They are really good for breaking up prose, and if you grab a really good quote to use they can often add to the enjoyment of reading.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 14:58, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
