Replaceable fair use File:Kusal Perera portrait.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Kusal Perera portrait.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 05:14, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Use of non-free images[edit]

Hi,

I see you've uploaded some non-free images of living people to illustrate their Wikipedia article. The use of non-free images on Wikipedia must comply with all the non-free content criteria. In particular, images of living people almost always fail to meet "no free equivalent". It's not sufficient that you cannot find a free image. It must also be the case the a free image could not be created. For living people that is almost always possible. The non-free content guidelines explicitly state "Non-free content should not be used when a freely licensed file that serves the same purpose can reasonably be expected to be uploaded, as is the case for almost all portraits of living people" (emphasis added). If you cannot find a free image of a living person, please do not upload a non-free one. It's just going to be deleted. -- Whpq (talk) 19:51, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging- reminder 2[edit]

@Gihan Jayaweera: This is now my second reminder to you that you should tag pages you create on topics related to Sri Lanka with a Wikiproject Sri Lanka tag on the Talk page. I added them to a whole bunch you had created recently, ignoring my earlier reminder to do so (which you didn't bother even responding to). It's especially important you tag these, since the pages you create are usually single-line stubs that would benefit from someone else adding to them b finding them through our project portal.- ක - (talk) 08:36, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Sobers–Tissera Trophy with two name holders.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 20:01, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Categorization of moth articles[edit]

Hello! Thanks for your hard work in creating articles on Lepidoptera species.

I've noticed that you have a habit of categorizing species articles as Category:Moth genera. However, that category is solely for genus-level taxons, not the species in that genus and thus does not belong on articles about individual species. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 20:18, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, when you add people to the Deaths in 2018 page, please note that they should be in alphabetical order under each day, and only simple references are used. Thank you. --Marbe166 (talk) 13:22, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Automatic Taxobox System[edit]

Hi there! I've noticed that you've created a lot of pages about species of moths recently. I thought I'd inform you of the automatic taxobox system, which is a series of templates, notably Template:Automatic taxobox and Template:Speciesbox that automatically generate the parent taxa of species. These templates are easier to maintain, especially when genera get renamed or moved. I've been converting the pages that I see while patrolling the Special:NewPagesFeed, and if you have any questions, drop me a note on my talk page. <RetroCraft314 /> 15:57, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
