Races/Bestiary[edit]

Yeah, I saw your edits and decided it was time to finish it. I still left some which might go in Races of Final Fantasy, but I want us (in the project) to reach a consensus on exactly what should go in Final Fantasy bestiary and what should go in Races of Final Fantasy. I think I'll put the discussion about that on the project's talk page.--DarkEvil 16:34, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't know that you had updated the subproject. I agree with what you say on the page, I don't think we really need to start a discussion about it on the main project page then. There remains a little problem which we could discuss between us, I don't think they're major problems. First, there is the Tonberry, I don't know anything about FFXI and so, I don't know if it counts as a race. Second, there are some creatures that are races but that you eventually end up fighting, like the Guado. What about them? Do we put them in both articles?--DarkEvil 17:05, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Another point I'd like to resolve is about certain creatures liek Oglop, currently in the bestiary, which is not fought, and which probably doesn't deserve to be in Race. I don't think it has self-awareness.--DarkEvil 17:09, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, all sounds ok, mostly what I thought. For tonberrys, we just mention in the races article that they are foes as well as a race and we remove them from the bestiary. For the Guado or others you fight but are races first, we talk of them in races too, maybe mentioning that they were hostile at some point. For creatures like Oglop, Chocobo, Shoopuf, we simply do not put them in any of them, at least that's what I understood.--DarkEvil 17:31, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Probably right, Chocobo interacts a lot and even if we do not include their interactivity, they are fought so they deserve their place. I do not think this needs to be limited to things we fought, let's keep it as it is, creatures with whom the player interacts. So the Shoopuf is used as a method of transport so there is an interactivity that make it interesting to keep in Final Fantasy bestiary. If all of this is understood, then there's no problem anymore as to what to include.--DarkEvil 17:44, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

WP:PJFF and its discussion[edit]

Hey there Gamemaker, I hope you don't mind me doing this but I've noticed everything you've been putting into the PJFF community lately and would really like your comments on something I've just posted on the talk page heyere. Thanks mate — cuaHL 16:25, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey mate, looks like we had the same idea! I was thinking just the other day that certain parts of the project are too hidden away and we need some sort of navigation! If only I'd thought of that earlier ;) Oh and just between you and me, I'm thinking about revamping the project pages a little so their easier for new pe

Thanks for re-welcoming back, and trying to alleviate my fears. =p I'll see how I can help. And the WP:PJFF is just for FF, but none of the other games by SE? --Terraguy 19:49, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your kind note[edit]

Thanks for your note regarding the mediation business, and I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to respond until now. No, I'm not completely demoralized: I think both Renmiri and I acted inappropriately, and I'm glad we were able to hammer out our differences. These things happen, and I'm ready to put it behind me and move forward. Thanks for your support! – Seancdaug 18:22, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WPFF again![edit]

Hi, I said to you a few weeks ago I was working on something pretty radical for a change in the project right? Well I asked for your input because you seem really focused on fixing the project and oiling its hinges. Well when I mean radical, I mean I revamped it completely :D. Anyway, I was looking at the project pages and thought it's fallen into a bit of disrepair. In an attempt to fix it, I came up with this - here. I know it looks a bit silly at the moment, but if you click the links I think you might see what I've done to update it. Im still fixing and tweaking, and hope to input a bit more user-friendly prose around the place, as well as including a guide for people new to the project to introduce them to all the subsections.
Anyway, let me know what you think about it. I've been working on it since January 30 on and off so you can imagine the work I've put in ;). I've created a load of new templates to make it all a bit nicer, and there's a few flaws I've picked up on too. But overall I've fixed things that I think needed a look at (like the peer review). The links might be a bit over the place as for any project links, I linked it to where the page would be if it exists. If that makes sense. Anyway, it's 2am here, so I'm leaving this for today. I should have it fixed soon, but would like your opinion on it before I propose it or do anything bold! Cheers — CuaHL 02:01, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey man, thanks for the comments. Yeah, the announcements was an idea I had that people could get a focused dose of news if there was any. I have a few ideas for this. Maybe people could have it so it only pops up if there's something urgent to say, or that there's something important, or there's one that is updated with minor news - which one the user uses is then up to them you know? I'll be tweaking this one soon :) Thanks again bro. — CuaHL 01:19, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey again, I've updated it again, and made a flexible announcements box for userpages. I've formatted everything and pretty much completed my checklist, so all the pages have been changed in some way or another :) If you could check it out again and let me know what you think of it all now, that would be great — CuaHL 00:30, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hello there. I've completed it (as far as I can see) and started throwing a few redesign things into the main project. Anything you think still needs to be done? Is there anything you think we could still include? Thanks for your help — CuaHL 01:24, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re: New project pages project (!) — Hey, uh, yeah I don't know what I must have been thinking there haha! I guess I just wanted a page for the community and community spirit after seeing WP:ESP. We could move all community discussion to the new page - that would be a good idea as new people won't be confused by project business at first, and can get involved with FF matters before our own community matters. I don't really have much time to look at it today, but feel free to change it, I've shifted my weight around quite enough this week :D — CuaHL 14:32, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FFXI character classes[edit]

I really want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the help you've given me with the FFXI stuff. I've had no end of trouble getting anyone to contribute anything on the FFXI talk page except to tell me I'm wrong when I finally make up my mind to do something. I was so surprised to see that someone had actually gone and started the list of FFXI class I'd been lobbying for all along - pleasantly so, for sure. I had been really discouraged about Wiki as a collaborative effort as a result of trying to get people on the specific article to work with me and this has been a great boost to me as an editor. So, the point of all this wordiness is a big thank you.  :) THANK YOU! -RaCha'ar 18:24, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image use policy[edit]

Most of the Final Fantasy images are probably justifiable under fair use, but only for very specific uses. You need to make a case for fair use if the images are copyrighted elsewhere and use one of the fair use image tags. You might find the image use policy helpful too. Hope that helps! .:.Jareth.:. babelfish 15:31, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You know, I think you're right. I missed the part about it being original artwork by one of the game designers; I removed the notice. On that note, I'll re-upload the Cid image under the same criteria and get it back in the article. You might want to check the other images just to make sure they all have source details that indicate the original artists just in case. .:.Jareth.:. babelfish 16:23, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re: Wiki glitch — Heh, it's funny you should say that actually, I posted a message here about the same topic, and I haven't been on 'pedia since to get round to looking at it. Hmm. I'll have a think and ask around. Leave it to me GM :D — CuaHLe 20:30, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hmm, I've had a look into it and there's no way of forcing the template to the bottom of the page unfortunately. This is why I came up with template {{WPFF Nav}} because it will always sit to the side. I'm afraid the only way I've found it can keep to the bottom was if the talk page was simply two templates on they're own, while the top template is a discussion page, and the bottom is the nav template. I'm sure you can see the impracticality of this. Sorry. I did look into some sort of HTML force but actually stretching the page to fit in the template is impossible. I guess editors like me and you will just have to constantly move it down :) Sorry — CuaHL 02:11, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning punctuation[edit]

Hey, Game. I was wondering about your edit on the FFVIII page with the commas outside the quotation marks. Is it some standard of Wikipedia to do it that way? I've been placing them inside the quote marks since I joined and this is the first time someone's mentioned it.

By the way, sorry about the Rinoa pic freaking you out. XD Her face was obscured by her hair, but I see what you meant about her looking like The Grudge girl. XD Ryu Kaze 05:47, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah. Are you from Britain, by any chance? I know over there that commas and periods go outside the quotation marks, while in the USA they go inside, regardless of whether they're part of the quote or not. Being from the US, that's why I've been using them as I have. Ryu Kaze 14:52, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No harm done. It doesn't really matter, as either's correct. I was just asking because I didn't know if Wikipedia had some kind of preference where this was concerned; I didn't want to have to go back and edit a lot of pages. XD
Have a good one. Ryu Kaze 15:36, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi from Flooch[edit]

Sorry I haven't left you a note about it until now, but I really appreciated your support regarding the notability (and recent restoration) of the Sphere Break article. I hope these efforts will not go to waste and as such I've made "improvements" to the page to the best of my ability. If you can see areas that need improvement, don't hesitate to edit! Once again, thanks! ~ Flooch 07:21, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed at the Jobs sub-project of WPFF[edit]

I have no idea if you're on a wikibreak or even around, but as you're one of the folks who was originally working on the Jobs sub-project, I'd like to ask for your help. A new user, User:ShadowKinght, has come along and created articles for the Gambler and Engineer job classes, and has added a link (currently red) for a no-doubt planned Morpher article. I left a note on his talk page explaining the planned merges into the main character class article, but I don't think he read it (or he's chosen to be obstinate; I don't know which). He found the sub-project to add his links but apparently didn't read the talk page. I'm trying not to bite the newbies, and to not be as frustrated as I am, but I'm trying to handle this with no apparent response. Do you have any advice on how to handle this, or shall I just go ahead with the merges and eventual AfDs? Thanks in advance. -RaCha'ar 04:08, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
